Now this guy always carries 100% authentic news. That's why Linda Ikeji was stealing his content.......MrAyeDee has just revealed from his intel sources that BH militants are currently heading towards Gombi, just 160 km from the capital city Yola.....he also revealed earlier through his Twitter handle that Mubi was NEVER RE-CAPTURED!!!. It's still very much under d stronghold of d insurgents. Here's his report: ................................. "An operation to take Gombi, Adamawa, 160km from Yola seems to have commenced. Insurgents JUST went through the town of Hong, Adamawa and met no resistance, they also didn’t disturb or harass anyone. Not sure if their safe passage was guaranteed by local centers of influence or if those who could resist melted away. Either way, Hong is to all intents and purposes now part of Bokostan. Boko Haram insurgents advanced through the town in 4 trucks, bikes and in loosely formed infantry columns. They were chanting Allahu Akbar as they went along. I shall have SITREPS as they become available. Please keep the people of Gombi in your prayers." by Okechukwu Ofili I am disappointed in APC. As one of Nigeria’s youngest parties, I was expecting a Presidential candidate that would flip the elections on its head and put PDP on their toes. I was expecting an APC nomination process filled with live televised debates from potential nominees so that we get to know them better. But instead APC seems to be giving us more of the same… The same pre-hand picked candidate strategy, the same Goodluck Jonathan no-debate stunt and the same candidate that ran for President in 2004, 2007, 2011 … and is now touted to be the likely candidate for 2015… Muhammadu Buhari! Talk about a party of change giving us more of the same. In fact the only change seems to be coming from the largely figure- head Vice Presidential role. But I won’t go there for now…. I will go back to the likely (if the media reports and rumors are true) APC candidate … Muhammadu Buhari. A man with the most Presidential experience of all nominees mentioned so far. A man with Presidential experience that involves fighting corruption but also fighting press freedom. Presidential experience that involves arresting tons of corrupt Politicians but also arresting musical activist Fela Anikulapo Kuti along with several journalists. Presidential experience that saw him wage a war against indiscipline but simultaneously wage another war against government protests! A Presidential experience that can only be used if the bad (and the bad are very bad) can be scratched off ignored … is who APC is presenting to us in 2015! Now, all what I have said could end up being nonsense. APC might actually start debates tomorrow, Buhari might end up not being the APC flag bearer. But with 4 months away from the elections and no debate or challenger to Buhari in sight … I end with how I started … I am disappointed in APC. Shame...in saner climates this guy would be jobless and facing criminal prosecution...but not in Naija. |
The Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, on Monday explained why he is yet to leave office seven months after he masterminded a poorly organised recruitment exercise that killed no fewer than 20 applicants in stampedes at overcrowded venues across the country. After the March 15 tragedy, several Nigerians demanded the resignation or dismissal of Mr. Moro and the Comptroller- General of Immigration, David Parradang, as well as their criminal prosecution for involuntary homicide. The duo, with Mr. Moro more culpable, had put in place a sham recruitment process that enabled the interior ministry to extort at least N520 million in compulsory levy imposed on applicants. The minister, who initially blamed impatience and refusal by applicants to abide by instructions for the tragedy, has since accepted responsibility for the incident. He has however refused to step down. But speaking on a Channels TV’s breakfast programme, Sunrise, on Monday, Mr. Moro made it clear he would not resign, saying he would rather stay put in office to clear the mess caused by the incidence. “The point at which we are now is not about resignation. That time has gone,” Mr. Morro said in respond to a question over why he refused to quit despite widespread calls by Nigerians on him to do so. “At the time (people were calling for his resignation), I think emotions were very high. I was in the eye of a storm. “At that time, a lot of options were on the table… The issue is do you resign or do you stay to sort out the problem that have been created? “I decided that staying and mopping up the mess caused by the lack of proper implementation of our plans is better. That’s point we are now.” The minister said Nigerians should consider the tragedy as an accident which he too did not plan for or envisage. “I also have families. I didn’t set out on that journey knowing that accident would occur that would lead to the death of human beings. “We took everything into proper perspective. If we had succeeded, a few Nigerians would have congratulated us for the job well done. “But now that accident has happened, we will learn from what happened,” he said. Mr. Moro also explained why his ministry was yet to implement a directive by President Goodluck Jonathan that three family members of each dead applicant be given automatic employments. He said after President Jonathan made the announcement, the Federal Government also set up a committee over the recruitment tragedy, and that his ministry preferred to wait for the panel to present its report before acting. “Finally, the report is ready, waiting for submission and implementation,” the minister said. “The next level is implementation. What I can say is that the people affected should exercise understanding and patience. Nobody will allow further mistakes.” Only 4,556 vacancies were advertised by the immigration service, but 520,000 applicants registered to write the March 15 recruitment test. Each applicant was required to pay N1,000 processing fee to be eligible to participate. A PREMIUM TIMES report estimated that the NIS made at least N520 million from this compulsory levy imposed on applicants. The extortion of the job seekers was done in flagrant disregard of the directive by the House of Representatives that government agency should desist from charging applicants taking part in recruitment exercises. However, in his reaction to the tragedy at the time, Mr. Moro attributed the deaths to the applicants’ “impatience.” “The applicants lost their lives due to impatience; they did not follow the laid down procedures spelt out to them before the exercise,” Mr. Moro had said. “Many of them jumped through the fences of affected centres and did not conduct themselves in an orderly manner to make the exercise a smooth one,” Mr. Moro had added. Mr. Moro’s comment sparked anger across Nigeria, with many citizens taking to social media to call for his immediate sack. The Federal Government and the National Assembly constituted separate committees to probe the tragedy at the time. But the reports of the panels are yet to be made public. After going through d JOHESU demands.....JOHESU calling doctors "insensitive" is like Abubakar Shekau calling Mother Theresa "insensitive". |
The Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria has described as “ridiculous” fresh demands by the Joint Health Sector Union, JOHESU, on the federal government. JOHESU, a union made up of all government hospitals’ personnel, except medical doctors, last week gave the federal government two weeks ultimatum to meet its demands or risk withdrawal of services by its members. Among others, it demanded a government circular defining functions and powers of honourary consultants, residency training for other health professionals, issuance of guidelines on appointment of chairman, Medical Advisory Committee, CMAC, autonomy for teaching hospitals and the removal of university lecturers as heads in some clinical departments. MDCAN, in a statement signed by its president, Steven Oluwole, described the demands as ridiculous and reactionary. “From these demands, JOHESU has again presented itself as a conglomerate of rabble rousers. No ideological viewpoint designed to improve health care delivery or development is represented, but reactionary viewpoints that can only set the healthcare system back,” the statement said. ‘’Residency training is not designed for popularity contest between medical and non-medicals. The request is an absurdity when put into context of job description. I expect the response of government to be non-political and professional. “On issuance of guidelines on appointment of chairman, Medical Advisory Committee, this matter also is before the court. On autonomy for teaching hospitals and the removal of university lecturers as heads in some clinical departments, the same,” Mr. Oluwole said. According to him, the request bordered on the ridiculous. He said JOHESU wanted teaching hospitals that were established by law to serve the universities from which they derived their names to become autonomous of the universities. He explained that JOHESU wanted university lecturers employed to teach in the teaching hospitals to be replaced by non-academic consultants. On the definition of functions and powers of honourary consultants, he stated, “This matter is before the National Industrial Court. All parties, which include JOHESU, are expected to respect the judicial process.” He urged the federal government to operate broad guidelines that would restore sanity to the health sector and break the cycle of strikes that were hinged primarily on what he described as the hideous claims, inimical drive, and self-serving demands of JOHESU and could only make mockery of the Nigerian healthcare system and ridicule the government. Abuja - President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday said that terrorism and kidnapping were still major national challenges because Nigerians had not united against them as they did against the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD). Jonathan made the statement at an inter- denominational church service at the National Ecumenical Centre, Abuja, to mark the country’s 54th Independence Anniversary coming up on Wednesday. He said the country was able to fight and defeat the deadly Ebola disease because Nigerians united against the virus irrespective of political persuasion, religion or ethnic origin. The president appealed for unity among Nigerians, noting that there was no problem or challenge that could withstand the force of a united Nigeria. “Take the case of Ebola for example; this is a good example all Nigerians must learn from. “When Patrick Sawyer brought Ebola to Nigeria, it was in Lagos that this incidence happened and in terms of politics, Lagos is an opposition party state but the central government is the ruling party. “From Lagos Ebola moved to Rivers State, also opposition party state. “But because all Nigerians fought Ebola irrespective of political persuasion, irrespective of religion, irrespective of ethnicity, as individuals we defeated the disease,’’ he said. Jonathan commended the military and other security services for the successes they had recorded in the counter-insurgency operations despite internal sabotage. He noted that what the security agencies needed was the support and encouragement of all Nigerians to rid the country of terrorists and other enemies of the Nigerian state. The president frowned at inflammatory statements and utterances of some politicians and called for restraint in the interest the country. “We will not require people to come from heaven or other countries to solve our problems. What we require from our brothers and sisters is to encourage our military because it is not easy. “When people are sleeping in their houses at night, they are busy fighting. Bullets are not badminton rackets or something. “When I listen to some statements made by some people who call themselves leaders, I feel sad for the country. “We must believe that we do not have any other country outside of Nigeria,’’ he said. In his sermon, the President, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oristejafor, said that most of the challenges confronting the country were self- inflicted. He noted that corruption and terrorism, which he described as `the greatest’ problems facing the country were created by greedy politicians and extreme religious ideologists. According to him, corruption is fed by greed, which in turn is rooted in poverty mentality. He defined poverty mentality as the thinking that what one had was not enough. Oristejafor differed with the school of thought that terrorism was caused by poverty. According to him, terrorism is caused by extreme religious ideology. The CAN president, who based his message on Mark 4:35 to 41, said that Nigeria was a boat built by God that could never sink. He said that as Jesus calmed the storm that threatened the boat conveying Him and His disciples across Lake Galilee, God would take the country through its current challenges and restore peace to the land. Oristejafor warned trouble-makers to either repent and retrace their steps or be ready to face God’s judgment. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Hon. Justice Walter Onoghen, took the First Reading drawn from 1 Samuel 30:1-19. The Second Reading, taken from Mark 4:34-41, was taken by the President of the Senate, David Mark. Other dignitaries who attended the service included the First Lady Patience Jonathan; the president’s mother, Mrs Eunice Jonathan and former military Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon (rtd). Chief Ernest Shonekan, Head of the Interim National Government; top federal government functionaries, Service Chiefs, state governors, members of the clergy, among others, also attended the service. Following relentless onslaught by troops, many members of the Boko Haram terrorists group are beginning to surrender voluntarily. Some of them submitted themselves and their weapons to the leadership of the troops in Konduga during a further campaign at the weekend. The Defence Headquarters has tweeted that "as the heat on the terrorists continues, five terrorists surrendered on Saturday (September 20, 2014) with all their weapons to troops at Konduga, pleading for mercy." Other captured terrorists who refused to surrender have also been giving useful information on the subsequent plans of the group in an apparent offer to cooperate. In the last few days there have been several attempts by terrorists desperate to gain entry to Konduga, which the Nigerian troops, have continued to foil. The PRNigeria gathered that the terrorists’ move was aimed at recovering the bodies of their prominent fighters who had died in the previous encounters in the area. Meanwhile the Nigerian troops have recovered more weapons during the mopped up operations while some of their (terrorists') vehicles have been destroyed. A former West London rapper who performed under the name L Jinny, now fighting with the Islamic State (ISIS), is reportedly a leading suspect in the beheading of US journalist James Foley. Abdel- Majed Abdel Bary is one of several militants suspected of being masked killer “John the Beatle.” According to The Telegraph, the 24-year-old Bary is allegedly one of three British jihadists identified as possibly being “John the Beatle.” A former hostage held by ISIS told The Telegraph that Bary is one of several jihadists who’ve been nicknamed “The Beatles” because of their British accents. Though a representative from Scotland Yard has told Billboard that they have not yet identified who the masked man in the gruesome video of Foley’s murder is, a report in The Telegraph describes Bary as having a similar accent, physical build, and skin tone to the killer in the footage. As The Independent reports, Bary was an aspiring rapper whose music received airplay on BBC Radio back in 2012. According to The Daily Mail, Bary left his home in the Maida Vale area of West London to fight in the Syrian Civil War, saying he was “leaving everything for the sake of Allah.” Several of Bary’s songs have been posted online, including The Beginning, in which he makes a reference to his father, an Egyptian-born militant who is awaiting trial on charges tied to the deadly bombings of embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998, according to the New York Post. “Give me the pride and the honour like my father / I swear the day they came and took my dad, I could have killed a cop or two “, Bary raps in the song (see below). Bary’s other songs, with titles like Overdose, Flying High, and Dreamer, make reference to violence, drug use, and deportation. As The Independent reports, Bary came to national attention earlier this year after he reportedly posted a gruesome photo of himself holding a severed head to his Twitter account, using the name “Terrorist” and the account handle @ItsLJinny. The account has since been deactivated. Freelance photojournalist James Foley became the first confirmed American citizen to be killed by The Islamic State militia last week after footage of his beheading at the hands of ISIS militants surfaced online. egbaguy: shouldnt this ahmad salkida be arrested? I swear he talks with shekau!!!!!!my friend SHARRAP!!!....it's possible to have links with a terrorist organization without necessarily being a member or supporting their activities....many journalists like Ahmad Salkida all over the world do. Salkida had a very close PROFESSIONAL relationship with boko haram founder Mohammed Yusuf, and was supposed to write a magazine for boko haram before d group went haywire. He was wrongly accused of being a boko haram member and was harassed by security operatives, so he had to relocate abroad with his family....a few months ago, GEJ reached out to him and offered him a letter of idenmity to act as a negotiator between FG and boko haram. Salkida went to d boko haram camp and obtained a video of some of d girls, which he personally presented to GEJ....but along d line, negotiations broke down. You nigerians can be unnecessarily suspicious. Stop damaging d guy's image. |
