POLITICAL POWER : "In about a year plus, the good people of Edo state would go to the polls to elect who governs them. Unfortunately, their choice is limited to the candidates thrown at them by political parties, especially as independent candidacy is yet to be supported by the constitution. With respect to the forthcoming elections in the state, political bigwigs, and heavyweights have started aligning forces for the showdown that is to come. This has led to a growing dispute between the incumbent Governor and his immediate predecessor, who doubled also as his godfather. At the end of this war, many will be politically beaten, some will be buried, while a few will be the beneficiaries. From the political pundits and reports on the street, these are the rumoured persons to whom the political pendulum of the APC may swing in their favour. First on the list is Rt. Hon. Pius Odubu, the immediate past deputy Governor of the Edo state. Reports have it that his interest is being peddled by Hon Samson Osagie and that the later onslaught on the incumbent Governor is not unconnected with the governorship ambition of the former deputy Governor. The Orhionmwon based politician still feel offended to have lost favour with his former boss, as he sided the incumbent governor in 2016. With the current feud between the governor and his godfather, Odubu's camp, led by Hon. Samson Osagie, hope to latch on it and sway the party's choice to his favour. On the other hand, a Retired General is also hoping to get his pound of flesh, as he felt belittled and insulted by the governor when he was accused by the governor for being the mole that caused their defeat to the opposition in the Presidential, Senate and House of Assembly elections. As soon as the feud between the governor and his godfather went public, the General started plotting on how to take advantage of the situation. His moves are clandestine as a former military man, but as pundits, our ears are on the ground, even when the meetings are held in the dead of the night. Next person that may likely be a beneficiary of this political battle is the ever diplomatic Engr. Chris Ogiemwonyi. Though the taciturn and reserved politician is yet to make his position public in the ongoing political feud, rumour has it that he had never for once buried his governorship ambition despite his defeat in 2016. Whether there was a feud between the governor and his godfather or not, the Engineer has always make plans to throw his hat to the ring again. But with the feud, pundits say his chances are high, considering the fact that his conservative nature, as a man of few words, that has made him have lesser enemies, aside those that feel threatened by his ambition. Why some persons from the street prefer fresh blood, the power brokers seem to be taking us to 2015, when the national king makers decided to bring back one of their own in the person of President Muhammadu Buhari, after they lost confidence in Goodluck Jonathan's ability to defend their interest. As it stands today, we may likely not be seeing a fresh face as we saw in Godwin Obaseki in 2016. And if we are to recycle, which among these three do you think would be sellable for APC as a party? You can also mention the names of those you see as possible contenders for the race to Edo 2020" - IDEDE Oseyande ************************************************************************* Power rarely ends up in the hands of those who starts a revolution/agitation or even of those who further it; Power sticks to those who bring revolution/agitation to a conclusive end. Its just my little perspective or opinion about the emerging scenario on the Edo political front. There seems to be an emerging new bloc of power brokers in the Edo APC and it seems the leaders who midwifed the continuity of this present Obaseki administration are being eased out tactically by the emerging power bloc.Time will tell, and the political terrain its surely going to be interesting in the coming days What do you reckon folks? Okay,we are waiting to know the outcome of the meeting. |
At year's end political scribblers have a habit of reviewing the year about to end and nominating a man of the year. This year i can't resist the temptation to do this ;There were both political and real earthquakes throughout 2016 and the year could turn out to be a turning point in Nigeria and world politics. With the vote in the United Kingdom to leave the European Union and the election of Donald Trump as President of the United States, accompanied by electoral successes by far left or right insurgent parties in Europe, it looked as though something internationally and weighty significant was brewing. We were not entirely immune from these forces though upset outcomes in local elections and an unexpectedly convincing win for the APC Party .Commentators were mostly hard pressed to link all of these political forces but if there is any common thread, it's that an-angry group of voters who mostly would not bother to cast their ballots did so and tilted it " Because of him " that lead to be predictable results for the APC in Edo state . Politicians are indeed unique breeds , i do believe they should be clearly labelled with a picture of before and after attaining the elevated position in government and any public office . Hindsight is a good thing, it would have helped to see what happens to them: they row fat, with rosy cheeks, expanding girth, and slow gait. We should consider not fattening this breed for their good. They grow so large physically and psychologically that they become so deluded and rave in self-importance and grandiosity. A word of caution to all those responsible for their unhealthy political appointment, they get worse, they make broken promises, in fact they never mean what they say, they do not know how, it is the pathology of their ailment .To woo the citizens they offer sound bites and may give away a day’s meal, a small bag of rice for their loyalty. It is really unhealthy for their wellbeing as any strip of conscience they have left, they trade for an ostentatious lifestyle. They are like a magpie gathering other people properties ,wealth and quality of life. They grow grotesquely huge on their greed and other people miseries while they play first families and lord of the manor. With their over inflated egos, they develop a contagious bad taste for gaucheness. Their transformation is never complete, when they write their past; No, they were never poor, in fact they had this much wealth prior to taking over office . They often protest and swear that they have always being civic minded, they took office solely to serve the people and not the other way round. I really do apologise for those good politicians who are doing their utmost best to change this image, but the 40% of the politicians are giving the 60% good politicians a bad name. "The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little.”— Franklin D. Roosevelt We hear a lot about politicians but not enough about good men. People think of a politician as someone having one primary objective -- to get elected. The general view of good men, however, is of someone interested in the common good of constituents and not his own ego. An example of a good man is my man of the year, The Former Honourable Minister of State for Works, Engineer. Chris Ogiemwonyi , FNSE, KSC, JP, who stood by his ideals and does everything in his power to do, what he believes is right for his people and his country Nigeria .

TALKING ABOUT ROUND PEG IN A ROUND HOLE - Engineer Chris Ogiemwonyi began his career as a Petroleum Engineer II in 1975 with the Conservation Department and in February, in 1977 Ogiemwonyi was seconded to SPDC (Shell Petroleum Development Company) Warri. This secondment was enriched by a four and half month Advance Petroleum Engineering Programme in SPDC Training Centre in the Hague, Netherlands. In 1982, Chris Ogiemwonyi resumed work at the Exploration & Exploitation (E&E) Division of NNPC and in 1985 he was transferred to the National Reserves Evaluation as a Project Leader. The NPDC, incorporated in 1988 had as its main objective the mission to compete as an indigenous Oil and Gas producing Company. NPDC was assigned four acreages including OML – 65 containing Abura Field then producing at 980 bopd. Ogiemwonyi championed the takeover of NPDC and he kept an up-to-date reserves position of the company. He was the field project leader in Abuja as his company had the major takeover asset from defunct TENNECO. Ogiemwonyi raised the production level from 980 bopd to over 4,000 bopd in 1990. In 1992, he served as Oredo Field Project Leader which was a Greenfield project that involved KELT ENERGY,UK and IP CONSTRUCTION, Calgary. OPINION: ENGR. CHRIS OGIEMWONYI TESTED WISDOM . The first time I saw President Obama on television was when he addressed National Democratic Party convention in 2004. And this was before he became the president of US. Then Obama was campaigning for United States senate and he was chosen by then Democratic presidential candidate, John Kerry to deliver the keynote address at the convention. After Obama finished his remarkable speech at the convention, I needed nobody to tell me that Obama would become the first Black man to live in the White House not as a slave or servant but as the president of United States of America. But the interesting thing, I was not the only person that saw it coming, most political observers, pundits and American people also saw it. Now this takes me to the speech delivered by Engr. Chris Ogiemwonyi ,the former Honourable Minister of State for works at the 42nd Founder's Day Lecture at the University of Benin. Before I could call friends to ask them to see and listen to the speech on the youtube, it was already trending on the web. It was splendidly brilliant, intellectually reawakening and energetically captivating. Before I continue with my commentary and analysis, if you have not seen the Ogiemwonyi's speech please do so immediately and clicked at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cizq9ejCYuc . For those who have not seen it, it was centered on austere management of our collective resources in the public square. Ogiemwonyi put a spotlight on past administration as a study to elucidate the fine arts of management resources at an optimum and zenith level. But why was the speech such a hit and attracting the attention of jaded Nigerian citizens? For the first time since the emergence of democracy, we have not seen a Nigerian politician that understands the trenches and contours of austere managerial ability; the acumen to grasp the fundamentals of governance and its application for the amelioration of the downtrodden. Engr. Ogiemwonyi is probably among the rare breed of Nigeria politicians that loses sleep thinking on how to manage resources for betterment of his constituency. The words that came out of his mouth, together with passion, buttress a gifted, austere and disciplined individual that gets his priorities straight. Engr Ogiemwonyi is an embodiment of seriousness and commitment that have eluded most of the contemporary Nigerian politicians. When Engr. Ogiemwonyi spoke on the management of resources, he delved into numbers and statistics of the economy and made the vivid point of correlation between keeping good records, transparency and welfare of the society. Most Nigerian politicians speaking on wealth of a nation are devoid of the perspective due to lack of the rudimentary concepts of macroeconomics. Engr. Ogiemwonyi was able in his speech to speak on nuts and bolts of the economy with great emphasis on plucking the leaking holes of waste. He is a sound and prudent money manager with emphasis on savings for rainy day and investments on public capital for additional wealth creation. Is Engr Ogiemwonyi going to work with president Buhari someday? Only God knows. Nobody else knows including himself. But like Obama after his speech at Democratic Party convention, many people including his party leaders encourage him to go for a higher calling . And the rest -as they say, is history now . Will a higher calling apply here ? One thing i want to make clear, for Nigeria to make headway in this 21st century; Nigeria needs men and women who understand that emerging 21st century’s fabulosity belongs to those who are willing to work hard and set a higher standard. Engr Chris Ogiemwonyi definitely meets and surpasses the threshold and he is the caliber of politicians that Nigeria desperately need for 21st century government. - Jeffrey Igbinigie A public Affairs Analyst Write from Benin . |
BENIN — FORMER Honourable Minister of State for Works, Engr. Chris Ogiemwonyi , FNSE, KSC, JP, was clearly the star attraction at the 42nd Founder's Day Lecture at the University of Benin where he presented a paper Entitled : HARD TIMES FOR THESE TIMES :THE THINK FACTORY GUIDE TO ACTION were he spoke on Corruption, Niger Delta and the way forward, also made some suggestions and Recommendations on the way out of hard times. Concluded by saying "Our Nation like most nations in the word have experienced,or are experiencing recession. This is not the first time we are faced with this kind of monumental challenge. Winners don't quite and quitters don't win.We need to apply wisdom and come together as a nation to focus and develop appropriate strategies to the economy on sustainable path of economic recovery and growth. Every time a Crude Flow Station is Destroyed by Militants in the Niger Delta, The Environment is Damaged; Our Land is Polluted and Our Communities are subjected to more hardships? Let the Bombing Continue, who will lose??The Government of PMB is dragging the Nigerian Economy away from Crude Oil; Lagos State has Joined the League of Oil Producing States and the Northern Part of Nigeria whose Reserves have been cynically suppressed over the years will begin production within the next months to two years. With time, We from the Niger Delta would have destroyed our Lands so much that future generation will curse us their Fathers and Mothers for killing their dreams. Let the Stupidity Continue my People?Don?t stop the blowing up of pipelines. Everyone of us thinks that a Blown Pipeline is an attack on PMB and His Government of Change? Insanity on display I must say. Kano and Lagos are Leading the way in Tomatoes Paste Production and Tomatoes don dey scarce shebi? The Northern Landmass alone is about 4 times the entire Landmass of the SS and the SE; Agriculture will revolutionize the North within the next decade? We from the Niger Delta will use our Oil to soak Garri and we think we are punishing Nigeria? Think Again, but Kontinu. I have been reliably informed, that the More Pipeline we blow-up, the more the Resolve of this President to get the Nigerian Economy off oil?The More the Presidency blocks loopholes; The More the desire for alternative Revenue; The More the Nigerian People get pissed off by our Stupidity. The Future is Lost to the Greedy, Selfish Demons of Today. Blow Pipelines if you can, Nigeria is moving on. We have a President who is capable of making the hard decisions and willing to firmly sustain those hard choices. Blow Pipelines abeg. Let Nigeria Suffer and Let our land be wasted. Kontinu killing your own future by your own hands. Culled from Facebook Page Akpomejevwe Nyemachi Tedheke. |
Dear Friends, Let me begin by saying thanks to all you who've followed us this far. We all made this journey for a reason. It's humbling, but in my heart i know you didn't follow us just for me, you followed because you believe in what this state can be. In the face of unemployment, you believe there can be jobs . In the face of despair, you believe there can be hope. In the face of a politics that's shut you out, that's told you to settle for less and divided us for too long, you believe we can be one people, reaching for what's possible. The genius of our constitution is designed that anybody can aspire to be governor, anybody has a right to support who so ever he feels to support;but not any body has a right to vote for you. For this is our unyielding faith - that in the face of impossible odds, people who love their state can make it Better ! All of us know what the challenges are today - a dependence on oil that threatens our future, schools where too many children aren't learning, and families struggling to feed, despite working so hard as they can. We all know the challenges. We've heard them. We've talked about them for years. What's stopped us from meeting these challenges is not the absence of sound policies and sensible plans. What's stopped us is the failure of leadership, the smallness of our politics - the ease with which we're distracted by the petty and trivial, our chronic avoidance of tough decisions, our preference for scoring cheap political points instead of rolling up our sleeves and building a working consensus to tackle big problems. We're distracted from our real failures, and told to blame the other party. And our people have looked away in disillusionment and frustration, we know what's filled the void. The cynics, and the politicains, and the special interests who've turned our government into a game only them can afford to play. They write the checks and we get stuck with the bills, they get the access while you get to write a letter, they think they own this government, but we're here today to take it back . The time for that politics is over. It's time to turn the page! We've made some progress already; Let us be the generation that reshapes our economy to compete in the digital age. Let's set high standards for our schools and give them the resources they need to succeed. Let's recruit a new army of teachers, and give them better pay and more support in exchange for more accountability. Let's make state own universities more affordable, and let's invest in scientific research. Let's be the generation that end poverty in Edo state. Every single person willing to work should be able to get a job training that leads to a job, and earn a living wage that can pay the bills. Let's do this! Let's be the generation that finally frees Edo from the tyranny of oil. We can turn this crisis of global warming into a moment of opportunity for innovation, and job creation, and an incentive for businesses that will serve as a model for Nigeria . Let's be the generation that makes future generations proud of what we did today. Most of all, let's be the generation that never forgets; Politics doesn't have to divide us anymore - we can work together. That's why Engr Chris Ogiemwonyi have a plan that will bring an end to unemployment by March of 2017.If giving the vote. Finally, there is one other thing that is not too late to get right about this: Let us be the generation that begins this work. I know there are those who don't believe we can do all these things. I understand the skepticism. After all, every four years, candidates from both parties make similar promises, and I expect this year would not be different. All the APC candidate running for governorship will travel around the state offering ten-point plans and making great speeches; all of them will trumpet those qualities we believe make them uniquely qualified to lead the state. But too many times, after the election are over, and the confetti are swept away, all those promises fade from memory, and special interest move in, and people turn away, disappointed as before, left to struggle on their own. That is why this election can't only be about Engr. Chris Ogiemwonyi . It must be about us - it must be about what we can do together. This election must be the occasion, the vehicle, of your hope, and your dreams. It will take your time, your energy, and your voice - to push him forward and to let the APC DELEGATES know where you stand. This election has to be about reclaiming the meaning of citizenship, restoring our sense of common purpose, and realizing that few obstacles can not withstand the power of millions of voices calling for A Better Edo ! Engr (Dr) Chris Ogiemwonyi is not just in this race to hold an office, but together with you to Better a state. He want to win this primaries - for justice and opportunity. He want to win this primaries- for better schools, and better jobs, and health care for all. He want us to take up the unfinished business of perfecting our state, and building a better Edo. And if you will join me in this improbable quest, if you feel destiny calling, and see as I see, a future of endless possibility stretching before us; if you sense, as I sense, that the time is now to shake off our slumber, and slough off our fear, and make good on the debt we owe past and future generations, then he is ready to take up the cause, and march with you, and work with us. Together, starting today, let us finish the work that need to be done, and usher in A Better Edo! -Jeffery Igbinigie DG #Yes To Better Edo# |
Tirukkural by Tiruvalluvar ( a Tamil poet/writer) was written more than 5000 yrs ago. It?s one of the ancient science on Human behaviour, which has not changed inspite of modern education & technology ! SOME GOLDEN THOUGHTS OF THIRUKKURAL 1. If your child lies to you often, it is because you over-react too harshly to their inappropriate behaviour. 2. If your child is not taught to confide in you about their mistakes, you?ve lost them. 3. If your child had poor self-esteem, it is because you advice them more than you encourage them. 4. If your child does not stand up for themselves, it is because from a young age you have disciplined them regularly in public. 5. If your child takes things that do not belong to them, it is because when you buy them things, you don?t let them chose what they want. 6. If your child is cowardly, it is because you help them too quickly. 7. If your child does not respect other people?s feelings, it is because instead of speaking to your child, you order and command them. 8. If your child is too quick to anger, it is because you give too much attention to misbehaviour and you give little attention to good behaviour. 9. If your child is excessively jealous, it is because you only congratulate them when they successfully complete something and not when they improve at something even if they don?t successfully complete it. 10. If your child intentionally disturbs you, it is because you are not physically affectionate enough. 11. If your child is openly defiant, it is because you openly threaten to do something but don?t follow through. 12. If your child is secretive, it is because they don?t trust that you won?t blow things out of proportion. 13. If your child talks back to you, it is because they watch you do it to others and think its normal behaviour. 14. If your child doesn?t listen to you but listens to others, it is because you are too quick to jump to conclusions 15. If your child rebels it is because they know you care more about what others think than what is right Please forward this to parents who care to. Read this, |

The question on the lips of? Edo people is, who succeeds Governor Adams Oshiomhole when his second term?ends on November 12, 2016? For us, this is very important so that the state will not go back to the years of under development and inactivity. However, the Comrade Governor has been very difficult to predict? on? who he has in mind to succeed him in his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC). Many of the people gunning to succeed him under the APC platform are this: Prof. Osarhiemen Osunbor Gen. Charles Airhiavbere Engr.Chris Ogienmwonyi Dr Pius Odubu Barr. Osarodion Ogie Kenneth Imasuagbon, You can well add your own if you know any: Write the name of the Candidate you intend to vote for in full. No proxy Vote. No voting twice: Any twice vote will be invalid. VOTING START NOW. Powered by People Say!!!

I hereby ring the bell for the debate to commence, not attack. No one should attack any person including the Governor. Let us debate issues and policies. From now, ladies and gentlemen, let us put our differences away and face the realities staring us in the face. I speak for posterity; I speak for ?had-I-known?; I speak for the unemployed youths; I speak for our traders and artisans; I speak for our people dying of hunger. Our people are perishing, money is not circulating. Why must there be crushing hunger and unemployment of unprecedented dimension during this era? Why must there be ?sack and lock? when what we require is ?deploy and produce?? Over 800,000 people today have been sentenced to unemployment and poverty through i sack, i dissolve by our brother we elected to serve us. Poverty headcount in Nigeria which is 65.% has risen to 72% in Edo state and decreased to 61% nationally. Why? Let me raise the alarm that child poverty, involving children below age 18, has also emerged as a major dimension of poverty in Edo state. It depicts a situation where children do not have access to enough resources to grow healthy and strong,to get education, to live in a good and safe environment and to fulfill their potential. The poverty of children is a derived outcome from the poverty of their parents. Doesn't it amount to deception of grandiose dimension for anyone to believe that the kind of vision that would take the state to the next level would be guaranteed through handout and cosmetic projects that are at best, politically tinted with populist intent such as squares, roundabouts, while people are dying of hunger? We are only postponing the doomsday. Investing in public buildings that do not have economic value and lack the capacity to create jobs for the teeming youths roaming the streets, amount to a vision- less patronage of waste. Why then are we clapping when our people are dying? The whole essence of drawing scale of preference in public expenditure is it not to ensure that the benefits in real terms, justify the cost and vice versa and this becomes even more compelling in the midst of scarce resources? Today, has Edo people not been taken for a ride? As we say #Yes To Better Edo!!! let us thank God for His mercies. Let us thank Him for the gift of health, life and success. We all had challenges like everyone else but God did not allow them to overwhelm us. Let us demystify a government of ?edifice complex". Thank you. Jeffery Igbinigie National Director People Say!!! |

Long but worth the time. Pls read. "3 Pieces of Advice vs 20 Years of Salary" A very poor newly wedded, young couple lived in a small farm. One day the husband made the following proposal to his wife: - Honey, I will leave the house: I will travel faraway, get a job and work hard in order to come back and give you the comfortable life that you deserve. I do not know how long I will stay away, I only ask one thing, please wait for me, and while I am away, you should be faithful to me, because I will be faithful to you. So the young man left. He walked many days until he found a farmer who was in need of someone to help him. The young man offered his services. He was accepted. Therefore he discussed the terms with his boss: - Let me work for as long as I want and when I think I should go home, please relieve me of my duties. I do not want to receive my salary. I ask you to save it for me, until the day I leave. The day I decide to go, please give me the money and I will go my way. They agreed on that. So, the young man worked for twenty years without holiday and without rest. After twenty years, he came to his boss and said: - Boss, I want my money, because I am returning to my home. The boss replied: - All right, after all, I made a deal with you and I will stick to it. However, before you go I want to offer you something new: I will give you all your money and send you away; or I will give you 3 pieces of advice and send you away. If I give you the money, I do not give you the 3 pieces of advice. And if I give you the 3 pieces of advice, I will not give you the money. Now, go to your room and think about your answer. He thought for two days. Then he went to the boss and told him: - I want the 3 pieces of advice. The boss stressed again: - If I give you the 3 pieces of advice, I will not give you the money. And the man replied: - I want the 3 pieces of advice. The boss then told him: - No. 1: Never take shortcuts in your life, shorter and unknown paths can cost your life. - No. 2: Never be too curious, for curiosity towards evil can be deadly. - No. 3: Never make decisions in moments of anger or pain, because when you repent, it could be too late. After giving these 3 pieces of advice, the boss said to him: - Here, you have 3 loaves of bread, 2 are for you to eat during the journey and the last is for you to eat with your wife when you get home. So, the man went his way, after twenty years away from home and from his wife, whom he loved so much. After the first day of travel, he found a man who greeted him and asked: - Where are you going? He replied: - To a distant place which is about 20 days away if I continue walking. The man said to him: - Ol' boy, this path is too long! I know a shortcut that is very safe and you will arrive in 5 days only. The man began to follow the path suggested until he remembered the first piece of advice. Then, he returned and followed the long path. Days later he learned that the shortcut led to an ambush. After a few more days of travel, he found an inn by the roadside, where he could rest. He paid for a room and after taking a bath he lay down to sleep. During the night he woke up as he heard a terrifying scream. He rose to his feet and went to the door to check what happened. As he was opening the door, he remembered the second piece of advice. Therefore he returned, lay down again and slept. At dawn, after breakfast, the owner of the lodging asked him if he had not heard the scream at night. He affirmed that he heard. Then, the host said: - Were you not curious to see what happened? And he replied: - No, I was not. Then the host said: - You are the first guest to leave this inn alive. My neighbour is completely crazy. He usually shouts at night to call someone?s attention. When some of the guests come out, he kills them and buries their bodies in the backyard. The man continued his long journey, eager to arrive soon. After many days and nights walking, he was very tired, but he finally saw his house far away. It was night. He saw some light coming out of the window of his house and was able to see the silhouette of his wife. But he also saw that she was not alone. He came closer and saw there was a man with her. She softly caressed his hair. When he saw that scene, his heart was filled with hatred and bitterness. He decided to rush at and kill them both mercilessly. However, he took a deep breath and he remembered the third piece of advice. Then he stopped, reflected and decided to sleep outside that night. He slept in the midst of the bushes, determined to make a decision the next day. At dawn, he was calmer and thought: - I will not kill my wife and her lover. I am going back to my boss to ask him to take me back. But before I go, I want to tell my wife that I have always been faithful to her. He went to the front door and knocked. When his wife opened the door and recognized him, she cried and embraced him warmly. He tried to push her away, but he was not able. Then, with tears in his eyes he told her: - I was faithful to you but you betrayed me. She was shocked, so she replied: - How did I betray you? I have never betrayed you. I waited patiently for you for twenty good years. Then he asked: - How about the man that you were caressing yesterday? And she said: - That man is your son. When you left, I discovered I was pregnant. Today he is twenty years old. Hearing that, the man asked her forgiveness. He met and hugged his son. Then he told them all the things he had experienced while away. Meanwhile, his wife prepared some coffee for them to eat together, the last bread given by his boss. After a prayer of thanksgiving, he broke the bread. When he looked at it, he found all his money inside. In fact, there was even more than the right payment for his twenty years of dedication and hard work. Friends, our God is like this boss. When he asks us to make a sacrifice, he wants to give us more than what we give Him. He wants us to have His unique wisdom as well as the material blessings. Someone sent this piece to me and it blessed me and I copied it to you. Remember the advice, God Bless U. |

Nice One! |
This story was written by a doctor who worked in South Africa... Isaiah 65:24 One night I had worked hard to help a mother in the labor ward; but in spite of all we could do, she died leaving us with a tiny premature baby and a crying two-year-old daughter. We would have difficulty keeping the baby alive, as we had no incubator (we had no electricity to run an incubator). We also had no special feeding facilities. Although we lived on the equator, nights were often chilly with treacherous drafts. One student midwife went for the box we had for such babies and the cotton wool that the baby would be wrapped in. Another went to stoke up the fire and fill a hot water bottle. She came back shortly in distress to tell me that in filling the bottle, it had burst (rubber perishes easily in tropical climates). "And it is our last hot water bottle!" she exclaimed. As in the West, it is no good crying over spilled milk so in Central Africa it might be considered no good crying over burst water bottles. They do not grow on trees, and there are no drugstores down forest pathways. "All right," I said, "put the baby as near the fire as you safely can, and sleep between the baby and the door to keep it free from drafts.Your job is to keep the baby warm." The following noon, as did most days, I went to have prayers with many of the orphanage children who chose to gather with me. I gave the youngsters various suggestions of things to pray about and told them about the tiny baby. I explained our problem about keeping the baby warm enough, mentioning the hot water bottle, and that the baby could so easily die if it got chills. I also told them of the two-year-old sister, crying because her mother had died. During prayer time, one ten-year old girl, Ruth, prayed with the usual blunt conciseness of our African children. "Please, God" she prayed, "send us a water bottle. It'll be no good tomorrow, God, as the baby will be dead, so please send it this afternoon." While I gasped inwardly at the audacity of the prayer, she added, "And while You are about it, would You please send a dolly for the little girl so she'll know You really love her?" As often with children's prayers, I was put on the spot. Could I honestly say, "Amen". I just did not believe that God could do his. Oh, yes, I know that He can do everything, the Bible says so. But there are limits, aren't there? The only way God could answer this particular prayer would be by sending me a parcel from homeland. I had been in Africa for almost four years at that time, and I had never, ever received a parcel from home. Anyway, if anyone did send me a parcel, who would put in a hot water bottle? I lived on the equator! Halfway through the afternoon, while I was teaching in the nurses' training school, a message was sent that there was a car at my front door.! By the time I reached home, the car had gone, but there, on the veranda, was a large twenty-two pound parcel. I felt tears pricking my eyes. I could not open the parcel alone, so I sent for the orphanage children. Together we pulled off the string, carefully undoing each knot. We folded the paper, taking care not to tear it unduly. Excitement was mounting. Some thirty or forty pairs of eyes were focused on the large cardboard box. From the top, I lifted out brightly colored, knitted jerseys. Eyes sparkled as I gave them out. Then there were the knitted bandages for the leprosy patients, and the children looked a little bored. Then came a box of mixed raisins and sultanas - that would make a batch of buns for the weekend. Then, as I put my hand in again, I felt the.....could it really be? I grasped it and pulled it out - yes, a brand-new, rubber hot water bottle. I cried. I had not asked God to send it; I had not truly believed that He could. Ruth was in the front row of the children. She rushed forward, crying out, "If God has sent the bottle, He must have sent the dolly too!" Rummaging down to the bottom of the box, she pulled out the small, beautifully dressed dolly. Her eyes shone! She had never doubted! Looking up at me, she asked: "Can I go over with you and give this dolly to that little girl, so she'll know that Jesus really loves her?" That parcel had been on the way for five whole months. Packed up by my former Sunday school class, whose leader had heard and obeyed God's prompting to send a hot water bottle, even to the equator. And one of the girls had put in a dolly for an African child - five months before, in answer to the believing prayer of a ten-year-old to bring it "that afternoon." "Before they call, I will answer" (Isaiah 65:24) This awesome prayer takes less than a minute. When you receive this, say the prayer, that's all you have to do. No strings attached! . Just send it on to whomever you want - but do send it on. Prayer is one of the best free gifts we receive. There is no cost but a lot of rewards. Let's continue praying for one another Father, I ask you to bless my friends reading this right now. I am asking You to minister to their spirit at this very moment. Where there is pain, give them Your peace and mercy. Where there is self doubting, release a renewed confidence to work through them. Where there is tiredness or exhaustion, I ask You to give them understanding, guidance, and strength as they learn submission to Your leading. Where there is spiritual stagnation, I ask You to renew them by revealing Your nearness, and by drawing them into greater intimacy with You. Where there is fear, reveal Your love, and release to them Your courage. Where there is a sin blocking them, reveal it, and break its hold over my friend's life. Bless their finances, give them greater vision, and raise up leaders and friends to support and encourage them. Give each of them discernment to recognize the evil forces around them, and reveal to them the power they have in You to defeat it. I ask you to do these things in Jesus' name. Amen. "Do not ask the Lord to guide your footsteps if you're not willing to move your feet Please share, happy Sunday. |

Ahead of next year?s governorship election in Edo State, aspirants have started to mobilize supporters and set up structures for the realization of their dreams, and this contest on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) is swelling by the day. Though the APC leadership has put a caveat on building political structures by the aspirants, ahead of primaries, yet aspirants campaign tempo builds tenaciously in the air as the party's D-Day fast approaches. Who will succeed Governor Adams Oshiomhole in November, next year when his tenure expires? This is a one million dollar question Edo residents are battling to answer because of the unprecedented developmental strides of the governor. Many people have indicated interest in the race, but the big question is, who will the people trust with their votes? The expectation is for A MAN! One who has the temperament and spirit of EXCELLENCE, A MAN who will not only build on the existing structures of the present administration but also drive the development of EDO state to a higher level in terms of, Industrialization and Job Creation for the teeming unemployed citizens of our great state. A MAN to Restore Security and Order in our society. A MAN who has the methodological and administrative finesse in formulating economic policies to make Edo the preferred hub for both local and international Investments, to fully exploit the massive natural resources and minerals the state has been enriched with by the Great ALMIGHTY. A MAN who is a true son of EDO and has proved his worth NATIONALLY and INTERNATIONALLY and as such can and will restore our rich cultural heritage back to international spotlight, by developing our cultural tourism, so that the average Edo Sons and Daughters can be once again proud amongst the committee of nations. A MAN who firmly believes in the value of standard education and is committed to the development of the YOUTHS. A MAN who will make life meaningful for Edo people. A MAN of pedigree, with proven record of distinguished service to society and sufficient understanding of the intricacies of governance. The ideal candidate that stands out amongst the lot who has indicated interest in Edo State No.1 job, in view of all the parameters listed for good governance is none other than our very own Engr. Chris Ogiemwonyi. Without prejudice Engr. Chris Ogiemwonyi has lived his life fulfilling excellence in service, contributing to national growth and the nation has enjoyed the dividends of his labors, EDO included. As GED of NNPC, Engr. Chris Ogiemwonyi drew the road map for sustainable GAS-to-POWER energy plan that was responsible for the privatization of the energy sector, the increased gas output to power newly built and existing gas plants, He saw to the restoring and maintenance of corporate order and due process *in the duration every subsidiary he headed, under his leadership NPDC improved its production capacity in an unprecedented scale. As *Minister of State for Works, (an interregnum position he held), he was able to influence major development projects to the State, the Ofosu-Benin Highway that spans from Ofosu in Ondo State to Dawson Road, the heart of Benin City is one of such. Numerous youths are beneficiaries of his Humanitarian Foundation that sponsors an Educational Scholarship Scheme for students with distinguished results but without financial means. As a true son of Edo who seeks the betterment of Edo people in general, Engr. Chris Ogiemwonyi was highly instrumental in galvanizing massive support amongst top political elites, journalists, pressure groups and traditional rulers for President Muhammadu Buhari in the Presidential election, this lone act has placed Edo in good light with the central government. One can only imagine the Presidential goodwill and potential developments Edo State stands to benefit from this lone act. As it is said, those who initiate change stand in a better position to manage the change that comes inevitably. So there is the need now for all progressive minds to collaborate, even for them also who believe the Future is Now, to put aside any personal or sentimental bigoted tendencies and move support for the credible candidate Engr. Chris Ogiemwonyi THE MAN that believes in good governance and has exemplified it in his over 3 decade of unsullied merritous service to society and humanity. This is the demand now, so as not to destroy the progress made so far by the Oshiomhole administration.? All our amiable governor will do now is to ensure that who succeeds him is THIS MAN. so to ensure the continuation of already achieved growth and not drown his own legacy in an abysmal flood of failure, if this is done we will start comparing Edo with Lagos without an aorta of doubt in the next regime. Engr. Chris Ogiemwonyi is THE MAN whom the cap fits come APC primaries and come 2016. Edo people do not let such opportunity pass you by. EDO 2016 - #Yes To Better Edo !!!

We in People Say!!!Add our voice to that of the Nigerian Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress and other well-meaning Nigerians to ask the President of the Senate, Senator Bukola Saraki, to vacate his office pending the determination of his case at the Code of Conduct Tribunal. It is morally right for him to vacate his office as Senate President to defend himself of charges preferred against him. It's only him steping down that the anti-corruption crusade being championed by President Muhammadu Buhari could succeed. In other climes, as soon as such things happen, people tender their letters of resignation. Obviously, this a moral burden on him. " Our advice for you would be to step down" sir" as the Senate President to answer the charges against you." You cannot be facing trial and be dictating as Nigerian Senate President". "In honour of the institution you represents, it is therefore best for you to resign in order not to undermine the position of the judge". He should not cost the government so much in court and thereby undermine the integrity of the bench. "It is not a question of If I was not declared senate president, nobody will remember what I did 10 years ago. Why don't you declare your assets when you were governor?" If you are talking about equity, then you must be able to come to equity with clean hands. "This is the way we see it. We have never been subscriber to the idea of witch-hunting". Why can't you just follow the law? "We don't believe in the idea you have enemies somewhere."Why could you do the needful and proper thing ? We believe it will be good for the Senate and the country, political responsibility for Bukola Saraki to resign. Unless this is done, his political influence will interfere in the process. " Even if you remained innocent until the tribunal finds you guilty, it had become morally necessary for you to resign from office".You are been charged for false declaration (of assets), which is a criminal offence and which carries significant punishment fashioned by the Nigerian criminal law system. People Say!!! Is a pressure group form in 2006,to rise and discuss quite issues about those seeking political offices for the downtrodden in the society to know and choose the best aspirant/candidate into office :We are not partisan;we discuss issues! Let me quickly point this out, the Nigerian Judiciary is on serious trial with this Saraki's case. If this case is not allowed to run through its full course as in other cases before now, then no change has occurred in the system. If it is allowed to run through to acquittal or guilt pronouncement , then change has finally come to my country Judiciary.
