Collectors items never really have an expiration date as long as they remain well maintained and in prestine condition.
There will always be someone out there with some kind of very deep sentimental attachment to these items and most of such people are super rich.

When it would be resold it would definitely be via an auction and during auditions they always place a cap (that's the starting price for the bids) this cap is usually set in such a way that the seller would not lose while the bidding commences.

It most likely would sell for an additional 20 or 30mil USD in another 5 to 10yrs and that gain would be gotten just by it being kept in a dust proof, rust proof environment while keeping it well serviced.
