Finns need to take a leaf from Ukraine comical leadership. Comedian Zelensky used to be adamant on NATO membership when speaking to Putin. Today, Zelensky is a sorry sight of himself. His country in ruins.

... And if you ask him now if he will to continue his adamant wish to join nato he will tell you no.....he has even said he is ready to drop nato requests if it will end the war...

......... Every time the U.S saves a country in the name of freedom and democracy, that country just becomes a cemetery. ........

. Sad that Finland and Sweden have been deceived by NATO to place their vulnerable populations in harms way. This is a the wrong time of NATO history in Europe because the WW3 is in the making.
You are a very poor student of history.

Russia pushed Finland and Sweden into making this decision because just like them, Ukraine had an appeasement posture with Russia but that did not stop Russia from attacking Ukraine.

They say a stitch in time saves nine. Finland and Sweden are making their stitch in time.

Their country, their choice. Same way None of them can tell Russia what to do or not do is same way Russia cannot tell them what to do or not do.

Answering you is a total waste of time but I needed to just answer this.

Many of you don't even know anything.

For others to have an idea. It's like the whole of Lagos. Saying IkeJa and Lagos Island(Mariopol) has been taken completely and what is left is Dangote steel industry at the end of Lagos Island leading to a seaport completely surrounded. (This is not a full scale war from the Russian perspective, it's a special military operation).

This is why, you will hear Russian soldier often politely asking the defending forces to surrender first. The same thing happened on the Snake Island. Surrender or die. You want to die or surrender?

IF YOU DO NOT ANSWER THE QUESTION..

WHO BLINKED FIRST SINCE THE MILITARY OPERATION HAS STARTED AND THE FIRST FORMAL NEGOTIATION HAS FAILED?

Since Kiev and its puppet master believe they can get leverage on the ground.

ONE OF THEM has blinked first..

WHO DID?

If you cannot answer that. I won't reply this again.
There is no point continue UN-brainwashing the brainwashed.

Awon ode..[/s]
Still doesn't change the fact that Russia has lost 3 to 4 times more equipment and personnel than Ukraine according to the OP and the fact that they are losing generally and have specifically lost Kharkiv and on the verge of losing Izyum and thereafter their plan in Donbas would fail woefully grin

By the way did you know that Russia lost over 500 men in their failed river crossing in Bilohorivka, Luhansk region? grin

Bloody nose na ya mate? cheesy

By the way why are you busy contradicting yourself na grin

I thought you said the one who reached out first is not only the weaker one but also the one losing but here you are trying to justify why Russia reached out first wink

Russia did not reach out to Kiev first. Russia went to UN and asked the U.S that is the puppet master of Ukraine to get the puppet to sign a peace deal that will include Ukraine not joining NATO.
And this is not Russia demanding a Surrender from Ukraine?

What happened? The empire refused and offered nonsense document that did not even involve Russia's security concern. Then Russia started its special military operation and was opened to negotiations.

The Stupid puppet installed in Kiev obviously did not get the message. Since Mink agreement is not followed, let this people have their own country which Russia has already recognized as two separate nations (Lugansk and Donetsk).

(AS WE SPEAK LUGANSK IS COMPLETELY CLEARED, MARIUPOL is CLEARED, Azovstal iron and steel works is completely encircled - a part of Donetsk also taken and Ukrainian soldiers are dying by its 400 per day).
This same Mariupol Russia reached out to the defenders of Azovstal to Surrender cheesy I guess that also makes Russia the weaker ones too right? grin

Kiev following his puppet master could have just accepted the offer from the onset (Just like a more smarter Georgians did in 2008). Accept the offer and live to fight tomorrow. No they decided to fight. By the way, the stupid puppet then did fight too but war ended in 5 days.

Now, the fight has been on going. Who blinks firsthuh?

RUSSIA OR THE PUPPET MASTER (Ukraine is non existence here due to NON-Government in Ukraine)
Another nonsensical gibberish

Now answering your question. Only the weak link and the one losing always place the first call for negotiation, temporary truce, or Ceasefire (usually for them to regroup or re-organized)...

Russia has always welcome negotiations. Russia will always be open to picking up any call. Russia is not the one making the call. Another way to look at it is this When you call someone, who pays for it? The person you are calling or you that is calling?

I said it, one sense is not left again in any one of you spreading pure lies and propaganda everywhere. You should borrow some brains even though I know you have zero left. Pls, borrow some.

Russia's Invasion of Ukraine (a Sovereign nation) was executed on the premise that they don't want them to Join NATO. They don't want NATO at their border.

81 days and counting, They have been unable to conquer to Ukraine...

Now their neighbors to the North are ready to Join NATO..

Russia have lost already. Because even if they conquer Ukraine, NATO has fully come to her doorsteps.

The inevitable Ascension of Finland and Sweden to the alliance is a big win for NATO and a big blow to Putin's Russia

The Finnish army is more sophisticated than the Ukrainian military.

All those talk of neutrality by Finland and Sweden over the years was to Appease Russia.
But it is now obvious that the appeasement policy would never change the plan of Putin's Russia to restore the old Soviet Union.

The Barbaric act of Putin's War in Ukraine have given them a leeway to boldly join NATO.

The Demon that is looking for Blood cannot be Appeased with Palm Oil.
Exactly.

Same way Ukraine tried to appease Russia by surrendering all her Nuclear weapons to them but how did they turn out today?

Russia still attacked them so any and every appeasement posture towards Russia must be jettisoned and Sweden/Finland have woken up to this fact.

The Nordic country that shares 800-mile border with Russia looks to end decades of non-alignment

Finland has formally confirmed it intends to join Nato, abandoning decades of military non-alignment in a historic decision triggered by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

“Finland is applying for Nato membership,” said the country’s president, Sauli Niinistö, at a press conference. “A protected Finland is being born as part of a stable, strong and responsible Nordic region. We gain security and we also share it. It’s good to keep in mind that security isn’t a zero-sum game.”

The prime minister, Sanna Marin, said the proposal would now be sent to parliament for ratification. “Our decision is historic,” she said. “As a member of Nato, we will also be responsible for the security of the alliance as a whole.”

With neighbouring Sweden’s ruling party also holding a decisive meeting on whether to join the 30-member defensive alliance next week, Moscow’s onslaught on Ukraine looks set to usher in the expansion of Nato that Vladimir Putin claimed he wanted to prevent.

Finland shares an 810-mile (1,300km) border with Russia and, like Sweden, has maintained strict policies of neutrality then non-alignment since the end of the second world war, viewing Nato membership as a provocation of Moscow.

However, Putin’s invasion of Ukraine on 24 February has led to a profound change in its thinking, with public support for Nato accession trebling to about 75%. Polls show a majority of between 50 and 60% are also in favour in Sweden.

Three days after Finland’s leaders said it “must apply for Nato membership without delay”, the membership proposal is expected to be laid before parliament for ratification on Monday.

Niinistö called his Russian counterpart, Putin, on Saturday and informed him his country aimed to join Nato, in a conversation he described as “direct and straightforward”. He added: “Avoiding tensions was considered important.”

Russia has repeatedly warned Finland and Sweden against joining Nato, saying such a move would oblige it to “restore military balance” by strengthening its defences in the Baltic Sea region, including by deploying nuclear weapons.

Putin responded to Niinistö’s call by saying Nato membership “would be a mistake, since there is no threat to Finland’s security”, according to a readout of the call released by the Kremlin.

After a cross-party Swedish parliamentary review on Friday said joining Nato would boost Sweden’s national security and help stabilise the Nordic region, leaders of the country’s ruling Social Democrats were also poised on Sunday to jettison the party’s longstanding opposition to Nato membership.

With a decision expected in the early evening, Swedish media reported that – assuming Helsinki sends its application in on Monday – Stockholm is likely to follow suit as early as Tuesday, with the alliance set to launch the accession process immediately afterwards.

Nato’s secretary general, Jens Stoltenberg, has said both countries would be “welcomed with open arms” and that the accession process would be quick, though formal approval by all the alliance’s members could take several months.

However, Turkey’s president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, has expressed his opposition to the move, based on what he said was the countries’ accommodating attitude towards the Kurdistan Workers’ party (PKK), which is on the EU’s list of terrorist organisations.

Nato’s deputy secretary general, Mircea Geoană, said on Sunday he was confident Turkey’s concerns over Finland and Sweden joining the alliance could be addressed. “I am confident if these countries decide to seek membership in Nato we will be able to welcome them to find all conditions for consensus to be met,” he said.

Finland’s foreign minister, Pekka Haavisto, also said he was “confident” of reaching an agreement with Turkey.

Russian forces have gone ‘from the offensive to the defensive’ as Ukraine launches counter-attack on enemy-held town of Izyum

Ukraine appears to have won the battle for Kharkiv, a US report has said, as Russian forces retreated from around the eastern city due to an apparent lack of troop reinforcements.

It came as Ukrainian forces launched a counter-offensive to seize back the nearby Russian-controlled strategic town of Izyum in the east, threatening Moscow’s attempts to control the Donbas region by encircling it.

If confirmed, the failure to capture Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-biggest city, would be Russia’s second major defeat of the war after losing the battle for Kyiv.

It would be a stunning turnaround for Ukraine’s so-called “fortress city”. Kharkiv was almost surrounded and looked certain to fall in the first week of the war as Russian troops poured over the border, which lies just a few dozen kilometres to the north.

Russian forces were close to encircling Kharkiv in March, gaining ground around the city and pummelling it with artillery fire from the suburbs.

Constant shelling forced hundreds of thousand residents to flee or seek shelter in the city metro or underground shelter while airstrikes turned part of the centre, including the City Hall, to rubble.

But apart from once briefly entering a small part of the city, Russian troops have failed to make any inroads amid stiff resistance. That has left them with no choice other than to retreat, according to researchers at the US-based think-tank Institute for the Study of War.

“The Russian military has likely decided to withdraw fully from its positions around Kharkiv in the face of the Ukrainian counter-offensives and the limited availability of reinforcements,” it said. “Ukraine thus appears to have won the Battle of Kharkiv.”

The mayor has said Ukrainian troops have successfully repelled Russia’s attempts to take the city.

“They [the Russians] were very close to the city,” Igor Terekhov, mayor of Kharkiv, told the BBC on Saturday. “Thanks to the efforts of Kharkiv territorial defence and the Ukrainian army, the Russians have moved back far from the city towards the Russian border.”

“Kharkiv is quiet now, and people are slowly returning to the city.”

The apparent withdrawal has led some experts to suggest this might be the beginning of a “tipping point”.

Russian forces have “moved from the offensive to the defensive (conversely, the Ukrainians have moved from the defensive to the offensive),” said Dr Mike Martin, a former British Army officer and visiting fellow for war studies at King’s College London. “We’re reaching a bit of a tipping point in the Ukraine War.”

Yet, claiming an all-out victory in Kharkiv remains premature.

Shelling from retreating Russian forces
Shelling could still be heard from central Kharkiv and in neighbouring villages on Saturday, including incoming rounds fired by retreating Russian troops.

Some shells fell close to Tsykurny, a village just north-east of the city that was recaptured by Ukrainian forces a week ago.

Rounds also landed near the village of Sorokivka, east of Kharkiv and south of the current Russian front-line, locals and soldiers stationed there said.

Russian forces are now believed to be focusing on seizing all of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions in the east, as well as guarding supply routes to those regions, Ukraine’s General Staff said on Saturday.

Hoping to build on their gains, Ukraine said it had launched a counter-offensive on Saturday near the Russia-held town of Izyum. Russia seized control of the city on April 1 and has occupied it ever since.

“The direction of Izyum remains the hottest spot – this is where our armed forces have launched a counter-offensive. The enemy is retreating on some fronts,” Oleg Sinehubov, the governor of the Kharkiv region, said in a statement.

The successes of Ukrainian forces in recent weeks has prompted Kyiv’s chief of military intelligence to say he was optimistic that the war may be largely over by December.

“The breaking point will be in the second part of August,” Maj Gen Kyrylo Budanov told Sky News. “Most of the active combat actions will have finished by the end of this year.”

But just as around Kyiv, the receding tide of battle around Kharkiv has left villages badly damaged, with many homes and power lines destroyed.

Now this is what I call detailed data collation which clearly shows why Russia shifted from infantry fighting to long range missile firing.

They knew they were being massively obliterated by the Ukrainian forces. A run of massive losses that was seriously affecting them but even at that Ukraine still adapted and as long as Russia focuses more on cruise missiles then Ukraine pushing them back even further is inevitable.
Foreign AffairsRussia Is Losing the war in Ukraine. Equipment And Manpower Losses Show by Igbofam(op): 8:36am On May 15, 2022
Worthy of note is that Graphs from the Oryx visually-confirmed database of equipment losses show why Russia is losing the war in Ukraine, explain the main tactical advantage of the Ukrainian army over the Russians and explain why Ukraine is so successful in defying the Russian invasion: Ukrainians strike on enemy logistics.

Analyzing the graphs of lost equipment allows us to highlight the different phases of the war and determine changes in the tactics of the Russian army.

Thanks to the Oryx project, which collects and categorizes all video and photo evidence of destroyed and captured military equipment, it is possible to make well-founded conclusions about the course of the war. As the authors of the project say: “Only destroyed equipment, means, and equipment, confirmed by photos or videos belong to the list. Therefore, the actual amount of destroyed equipment significantly exceeds what is on the list.”

Some military analysts also note that the amount of the equipment in the video and photo can be distorted in some way (the Ukrainian information policy is not to show all losses). However, one can use not absolute numbers (they are incomplete anyway), but a ratio between the number of losses in Russian and Ukrainian reports. This ratio allows us to draw some interesting conclusions.

1. Overall casualties and the loss of armored vehicles

Let’s start with a general graph of all losses for the entire period of hostilities (graphs from Lee Drake):

https://static.euromaidanpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Russian-equipment-losses-in-Donbas-e1652548544991.jpg
General loss of equipment

The graph shows that Russia followed two approaches in its hostilities:

After the first two weeks when the intensity of losses (the slope on the curve on the graph) was the highest (when the Russians moved in columns deep into the territory of Ukraine, which left a lot of destroyed and abandoned equipment), as well as in the beginning of the offensive in the East (early April);

In April-May, the intensity of losses of the Russian equipment fell, which reflects a change in tactics – the Russians are trying to avoid contact battles and more often use long-range artillery strikes.

The graph of destroyed equipment confirms this theory: the growth rate of the number of destroyed equipment has fallen since the second week of April.

https://static.euromaidanpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/current_destroyed.original-e1652469826219.jpg
Number of destroyed vehicles

Another interesting graph is the percentage ratio between Russian and Ukrainian equipment lost. Pay attention to the lower right graph, which shows the ratio of total losses.

It is again noticeable that with the change in tactics in the East, the Russian army suffered smaller losses for a certain time (as a percentage), but recently Ukrainian troops seem to have adapted and now, the ratio has almost returned to the previous level: one unit of Ukrainian equipment to three units of Russian ones (25% and 75%).

https://static.euromaidanpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/ratio_grid.original-scaled-e1652469996448.jpg

2. Aviation and air defense
From these graphs, one can not only see the different dynamics/different phases of the war and the ratios (it is obvious that Ukraine destroys Russian aircraft faster than air defense systems) but also draw the main conclusion – after two months of the war, the Russians could not dominate the sky.

https://static.euromaidanpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/current_aircraft.original-e1652470098705.jpg

https://static.euromaidanpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Anti-air-systems-lost-e1652552476994.jpg

3. Logistics
Finally, the graphs for logistics and vehicles clearly show where the main efforts of the Ukrainian Army are targeted: for trucks, the ratio is 1 to 4, and for logistics systems – something like 1 to 15 in favor of Ukrainian forces.

https://static.euromaidanpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Vehicles-lost-Russian-invasion-Ukraine-e1652552714466.jpg

https://static.euromaidanpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/current_logistics.original-e1652470167789.jpg

As a conclusion to the previous two graphs, this diagram illustrates the main tactical preference of the Ukrainian forces: a strike on enemy logistics. The most successful ratio, 1:15 in Ukraine’s favor, is in the logistics. Ukraine’s ratio is the worst with aviation, but even there the coefficient is approximately 1:2.5 – for each of its aircraft shot down, Ukraine takes down 2.5 Russian ones.

Did you know how many industry the 10% we affect? Even 1% is huge.
Russia is simply wasting their own time.

Finland refused to pay in Rubles hence their decision to cut them off the 10% they supply.

However Finland already had alternative plans and as at 3 weeks ago already began reducing their electricity transmission from Russia because they were ramping up their internal electricity generation as well as gotten an agreement signed with Sweden for supply.

Check the date of the attached. Finland is fine.

This war is just revealing how big Russia is.

So imagine Finland, a European country cannot generate its own electricity which means they are on Niger Republic and Benin third world level.

Nigeria is better than a lot of countries but our inferiority complex won't let us see it.
Finland actually generates its own electricity but they only fall short by 10%.

That 10% is what they import from Russia.

So What Russia only did was stop the supply of that 10%.

Finland on the other hand already had a contingency plan which generates 14% electricity internally to cover up for the 10% loss.

As a back up they have also signed an agreement from Sweden for supply
