Joebie: Very good analysis Sir TheSuperNerd.
Now the question.. who to start against Cameroon? Let's focus on the midfield. The 4-2-3-1 formation gives room for two defensive midfielders if i'm not mistaking. But one of them would still be more dedicated to being a holding midfielder
Optioni 1: Mikel is a sure starter for his experience, and we expect him to rise up to this kind of opposition any day anytime. He has a lot of top games under his belt. Can't take that away from him. It is most certain he will get his AMF role although I prefer Mikel in the number 4 role, but with the absence of a creative midfielder, Mikel is the closest and the only option we have, until we allow Iwobi show us his stuff in that position. That takes us back to your question. Who gets the number 4 role? Onazi, Ndidi, Ogu? I think I will make a case for Esiti ONLY based on his recent exploits with Gent. The number 4 is one of, if not the most important position in a team. In fact it is the player that GUARANTEES control of the midfield. And i'm beginning to think this is why we lost to SA. We will need that holding midfielder, who may not necessarily play as such for most part of the match considering the physical Cameroon. But we will need that role every now and then, I think especially for the Cameroon tie Esiti looks well suited for it, and can hardly be destroyed force versus force. It is not for no reason he is nicknamed The Rock in Belgium. But can he rise up to that occasion?
In CMF, we know Onazi for his tackles which frustrates can frustrate any team. But he has to do more of short passes because his long passes are awful. Should Onazi play as a CMF then? How about Ndidi? This take us to another option.
Option 2: Should iwobi be given the chance, and should our forwards know just how to position themselves to take advantage of Iwobi's fast and splitting passes, I believe the lad will excel as he wouldn't have to come against the Cameroonians physically much.
Then we can have Mikel do what he did for Chelsea for about a decade. It is indeed very true that the player with the #4 shirt can sometimes go under-appreciated by fans because he is rarely the one who scores the crucial goal or makes the last ditch tackles. We can expect Mikel to be clever as well not to be out-muscled by the Cameroonians and create more cover for our center backs very well.
This option opens room for the question, who plays as the CMF? Clearly, Ndidi for his excellent vision and ball distribution.
in all this we are trying to take a more scientific approach in our arguments, instead of choosing a player over another just simply because we like them or we have seen them play well in other situations. Then move etobo to the right or left wing forward. |

goldfish80: I used Rantie as an example of a forward who still battled gamely for his team even when the passes weren't getting to him. He still made something happen. If every intended pass found strikers it was intended for, football matches will be ending with scorelines like 40-52. Pls remind me again, how many chances did he create after winning the aireal balls. |

goldfish80: I don't know your football background. But I will be surprised if you played organised football and still come up with some of these opinions you push out.
Kelechi played close to 70 minutes of a game and all you could muster to defend his poor output was about 3 misplaced passes which didn't get to him from midfield.
I never knew players were judged by the number passes which didn't get to them.
Let me explain this to you again. South Africa had their defence well organised. Their defence was set up high up the pitch which translated to an offside trap strategy. Balls over the top from midfield will look to have bypassed the defence which will mislead a spectator into thinking the ball was over hit.
The defence was so set up like that to deceive midfielders to hit those type of passes, which wouldn't come through anyway. It is a dangerous strategy but if it works to perfection, what you saw last Saturday was about the result you will get.
This is the technical breakdown of what went down against Bafana. Pls Oga goldfish hw many times was he cut offside in the game against s africans.. Abi u no watch the match ni |

U all are doing this because u can't compete with other tribes, u have lost all relevance. Is it any wonder why the Niger delta minorities like itsekiri, urhobo etc are not complaining, but a big tribe like Igbo is always complaining, is it not a disgrace? So according to u, Igbos hv lost relevance and is seeking for one. I do'nt always get involved in things like dis but every tin u just accused to igbos of doing here is wat u hv done 100%. But our behaviour outside is not close to the best bro.. and that's the truth I know its not, but we can create the same environment here as well in Nigeria; and that way they will be forced to do the needful. With same mind set... That's it oga I disagree with you on that. The confed give a lot of grounds for proper change of the existing systems which, in my opinion is the main problem of Nigeria. The system is the main reason why those people even find themselves in those places. And pls there's nothing wrong with our mentality; cause this same Nigerians you accuse of bad mentality still go to other countries and becm their best citizens. So we should all advocate for the restructuring of the country cause that's what we need. |

LET ME TEACH A LITTLE BIT
In subsidy, corruption existed, whether sustained or removed. Deregulation is what we ask for; let the Petroleum sector experience what was done to the telecom sector, then NNPC and our local govt refineries will either sit up or pack up. Allow private individuals to operate private refineries. Sell crude to them, or they can even buy from other counties while refining here as well as selling the produce here or outside the country as the case maybe. Let them do it and stop using the term subsidy to mop up funds in the name of subsidy removal.
Subsidy removal simply means we don't want this cabals to share this oil money with us, let stop them and eat alone. Then the cabals will rise to frustrate them from "chopping" alone. Removal of subsidy means buhari is corrupt. Sustaining subsidy means he approves of corruption while the deregulation of the downstream sector approves of his sincerity to change this country and subsidy removal is not a deregulatory agent at all!!!. Do you know that as soon as we get it right in the downstream sector the power issue will be automatically solved. # SAY NO TO SUBSIDY, SAY NO TO SUBSIDY REMOVAL, SAY NO TO FUEL PRICE HIKE SAY YES TO DEREGULATION.
my humble submission to all these lip service.... |

metrosexual: I wouldn't talk about "gambling" because I don't know much about that. I will talk about sports betting, some call it gambling but I don't agree. Throwing a coin to show a random number is more of gambling than watching Atletico Madrid FC for years and predicting they would rarely lose a match at home.
Everything needs moderation and expertise, most folks lose at Sport betting because they take it to luck or chance.
Most sport bet punters day dream and hope they would become millionaires overnight. That happens sometimes but out of 10 million sport bet punters in a week, only like 1 percent experience such luck.
Take betting as a business and analyse it detailedly with statistics and detailed information and you would rarely lose.
Take for instance, a co-worker at the start of the season put in N15,000 in betting on teams to win the English Premier League. All the small clubs had huge odds of up to 5000 odds. He staked 100 each for the small clubs with huge odds. And for the bigger teams he staked higher amounts which all resulted to N15,000 in total.
Come May 2th 2016, Leicester City FC won the league, Leicester City FC had 5000 odds to win the league, the dude won N500,000 from the N100 stake he placed on all small teams with huge odds.
I know of someone who from the start of the season plays every West Ham Utd game to play over 1.5 goals(meaning - there would be at least 2 goals in every West Ham Utd matches). West Ham Utd this season have played over 1.5 goals in 85% of their games meaning he has gained a lot. He stakes N20,000 per game and makes a profit of between N6,500 to N8,500 per game. At the end of the season the money what he gains is usually in the range of N120,000 to N150,00 taking out the few 5-7 times he lose a bet. Mind you, he makes his bets online and doesn't withdraw his initial deposit or wins till the end of the season. At the end of the season he then invests the money into anything of his choice. I can't exhaust the plenty betting strategies which intelligent punters I know employ and ALWAYS WIN, these friends I'm talking about are not unemployed, they are University graduates with good white collar jobs but they see the good investment and payout in sports betting and the key to winning is betting based on valid statistics, the least risks and least games as possible.
Betting houses sponsor football leagues the world over because they expect games to be fair and not fixed or else punters will milk them dry. Why do you think any club caught "selling" or fixing matches is severely punished? Remember what happened to Juventus FC years back? What do you think made football this popular in the world today? Sports betting of course!
Go to foreign countries and see rich men winning big in sports betting, but here in Nigeria its just kids believing in luck and chance and the betting houses keep milking them dry.
I'm tired of typing, make your intelligent deductions based on your opinion.
Ciao! bro there's nothing else to say |

Dee60: Let us see if FIFA will give the best Manager award to Ranieri or they will continue with their tradition of sham awards.
This is a coach that has no one in the team earning 60,000 pounds per week come up with victories over teams that pay players 150,000 to 300,000 pounds per week. A team with no single super star go on to defeat star studed teams like Arsenal, ManCity, Man U, Tottenham etc to with the EPL.
Ranieri is the best Manager today.

Real Madrid were trailing Rayo Vallecano by 2 goals wen Bale pulled 1 back, he took d ball to d centre circle immediately.. which is d right tin to do. It's a game u wana win. And u have hope of winning. So, it's only natural not to waste time and complete a comeback. So it was so very wrong of him to celebrate d goal in d 1st place.
