The founder, Faith Revival Apostolic Church (FRAC), Apostle Paul Adenuga has given the reason why pant theft in Nigeria is on the rise.

He said there is an increase in pant theft in Nigerian because religious leaders no longer preach about the ills of the society.

Adenuga condemned the act at the Christian Press of Nigeria (CPAN) breakfast meeting held in Lagos on Sunday.

“You can imagine, some men go to steal women pants because they want to make sudden money and some of these men are caught and displayed on social media, what a shame,” NAN quoted him as saying.

The Apostle posited that many churches preached more about how to make money and neglected the real gospel message that has moral instructions to help cultivate good virtues in Nigerian youths.

He, therefore, urged parents, especially mothers, to intensify prayers for their wards not to be involved in the shameful acts.

Nigerian lady was left distraught after losing her masters admission and scholarship due to the ongoing nationwide ASUU strike.

The lady identified as, Nwede Chiamaka Stella Maris took to her Facebook to narrate how she lost her foreign masters admission and scholarship because she was not able to submit my complete transcript and reference letters. She wrote;

Sad Saturday
I lost my master admission from university of cape town south Africa scholarship for final years student from South African women in science and engineering (SAWISE)
I lose the scholarship and admission because I was not able to submit my complete transcript and reference letters.( one of my wicked lecturer I mention his name as referee disappointed me,even thou I told him before submitting it ).
ASUU,NANS and FG continue
So painful
After my struggle
After my wonderful essay
After gaining admission to best university in African
After gaining best scholarship from SAWISE
Master that suppose to start in November or December
All of them is now a waste

Two armed robbery suspects, Terdue Tivkaa, 20 and Tarvershima Fazanga, 19, have been arrested for robbing and raping a 50-year-old woman at her home in Zaki Biam, Benue state.

The state commissioner of police, Omololu Bishi, said a report was received at the command on January 20, 2019, that some armed robbers entered the compound, robbed their victims of some money and handsets and thereafter raped an old woman. .

He said the swift response by Police Operatives led to the arrest of two suspects who mentioned one Solomon as their gang leader. Solomon, however, died while exchanging fire with the Police in a bid to evade arrest.

Two locally made pistols, two cutlasses, one axe and two handsets were recovered from them. The police said both suspects, who confessed to the crime, would soon be arraigned in court.

Five people have been arrested in Italy for smuggling Nigerian women into Europe and forcing them into prostitution, according to Italian Carabinieri Police.

The suspects, apprehended in the Sicilian town of Messina, were part of an organised crime racket that smuggled “at least 15’’ unaccompanied minors into “several European Union countries’’ via Libya and Sicily, the police said in a statement yesterday.

The syndicate relied on an Italian accomplice who worked in a migrant charity.

According to Police, he would help the criminals trace the women after their arrival in Sicily and contribute to forcing them into prostitution.

The Carabinieri said they documented criminal activity during the 2015 to 2017 period.

They said “black magic’’ rituals would be performed on the young women before they left Nigeria, to force them into submission.

Some of the arrested also dabbled in heroin trafficking, police said.

In 2017, a report by the International Organisation for Migration said three-quarters of the roughly 11,000 Nigerian women who landed in Italy in 2018 may have been taken there by sex traffickers.

The IOM, a UN agency, said it was difficult to make precise estimates because most victims of the sex trade are afraid to speak up.

They are also afraid to seek assistance because they are: ashamed; submissive to traffickers accompanying them on migrant boats; or fear retaliation against their relatives.

A yahoo boy has been jailed after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, secured his conviction for impersonating an army officer.

Peter James was convicted on a one-count charge of “impersonation and attempt to cheat”.

He was arrested in connection with some suspicious activities and was investigated by operatives of the EFCC. Investigations revealed that he specializes in defrauding foreigners of their hard earned money, through internet fraud.

Electronic devices recovered from him, which were subjected to forensic analysis revealed incriminating documents, linking him to online fraud.

He was discovered to have been parading himself on QQ International, an instant messaging application, as “Barnett Edward” a United States Army who got injured in Afghanistan. This, he did to attract sympathy and defraud unsuspecting people.

The count reads:

“That you, Peter James, sometimes in 2018 at Abuja the judicial division of this Honourable Court, did attempt to cheat by personating while representing yourself on QQ International as Barnett Edward, an army officer deployed to Afghanistan and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 324 of penal code, laws of Federation (Abuja) 1990”.

He pleaded “guilty” to the charge.

In view of his plea, prosecuting counsel, Best Ojukwu, urged the Court to convict him accordingly.

Justice Adebiyi, thereafter convicted him, and adjourned to January 31, 2019 for “sentencing.

Operatives of the Imo State Police Command have arrested a 15-year-old Senior Secondary School pupil, Precious Ehiedo, and two others, Juliet Ogben and Favour Okoh, for allegedly stealing and selling two siblings between the ages of two and seven for N800,000.

The state Commissioner of Police, Dasuki Galadanchi, who handed over one of the recovered children to their parents at the command’s headquarters in Owerri, said that two-year-old Chiemerem and seven-year-old Mmesoma Nwoke were stolen on November 13, 2018, by Precious at Umuezeala Ama in the Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State on the instruction of her parents.

The CP said the teenager had requested money from her parents for the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination registration, but the parents allegedly told her to steal the children in order to raise the money.

The police boss said, “On November 13 at around 9am, one Precious Ehiedo, 15, daughter of Mr and Mrs Romeo and Uchechi Ehiedo, resident at Ogbuaku in Mbaitoli LGA of Imo State but natives of Abraka in Delta State, requested from her parents money for the SSCE registration.

“Her parents told her to go and steal children for them to sell in order to raise money for her examination. Being familiar with the two children at her maternal home, Umuezeala Ama, in Ehime Mbano LGA of Imo State, she stole the children.

“The girl and her father left for Mbano, but the father stopped at the Amaraku Market square, waiting for his daughter to hand over the children, who he had instructed her to steal.

“The 15-year-old met the children playing, stole them and joined her father at the Amaraku Market and both left with the children to Ogbaku.

“The children were sold to one Mama Joy at the rate of N800,000. Mama Joy, with one Favour Okoh, resold one of the children to one Juliet Ogbor for N750,000.”

The CP added that acting on credible intelligence, the operatives of the Surveillance Squad of the command recovered one of the children, Chiemerem, on December 15 at Agbor in Delta State.

He said that the command had spread its tentacles in order to recover the other child.

Galadanchi, who described as barbaric the act of trading in human beings, especially children, said the command would prosecute the suspects in line with the laws of the land.

He attributed the breakthrough to the community policing approach through which the command and community leaders and stakeholders in the state share mutual information and intelligence.
