A driver, Solomon Okon, who absconded with his boss’ Honda CRV Sport Utility Vehicle in Ibadan, has been arrested in Akwa Ibom State.

The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, Abiodun Odude, made this known while parading suspects arrested in connection with various crimes by men of the command.

Odude said, “Having successfully stolen the car, the suspect (Okon) escaped with it to Akwa Ibom State, where it was sold to a criminal receiver.

“Consequent upon the report made to the police by the owner of the stolen car, operatives of the F-SARS, Oyo State Police Command, immediately commenced investigation, which led to the arrest of the suspect in his criminal hideout in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State. Upon his arrest, the suspect led the operatives to a hotel in the same town, where the car was recovered.”

According to the police boss, discreet findings revealed that some sensitive materials of one of the leading political parties in the country were found in the SUV when it was recovered.

The owner of the vehicle, Mrs Olufunke Obaba, explained in an interview that Okon was employed as her driver on September 18, 2018, and by October 15, he drove her to the University College Hospital, Ibadan, for a check-up.

Obaba stated, “We got there around 8.30am. He parked and I entered the hospital. About two and half hours later, I came back and my car wasn’t where it was parked. I called his numbers, none was going through. Then, I called my husband and told him to come and pick me. He came and took me back to the office.

“I thought he(Okon) just drove the car out to enjoy himself and that he would bring it back. But between 3pm and 4pm, we felt we needed to report to the police. So, we went to the Yemetu Police Station in Ibadan, where we reported the disappearance of the driver and the car, and the police took it up from there.

“The following day, the station directed us to the office of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad at Dugbe, Ibadan, with a letter and a policeman. We got there and they started their job.”

Though Obaba, who owns a nursery and primary school in the vicinity of one of the military barracks in Ibadan, stated that she got the driver through an agent, investigation revealed that a soldier stood as a guarantor for Okon, who committed the alleged crime before his first salary could be paid.

After driving away with the car, the tracker on the vehicle showed that he was at a time in Ijebu Ode in Ogun State, and the last time the vehicle was captured on the tracker was at Igbokoda, Ondo State, before it resurfaced in Akwa Ibom State.

It was gathered that detectives travelled from Ibadan to Akwa Ibom State three times before they could apprehend the suspect.

In an interview with journalists, Okon confessed to the crime and appealed to the police to forgive him.

Three mortuary attendants, who police accused of cutting off the two wrists and the heart of a dead woman, were on Thursday brought before a Yaba Chief Magistrates’ court in Lagos State.

The police charged Micheal Olusegun, 65; Oluseyi Olamade, 41; and Adetunji Aliyu, 45, with two counts of conspiracy and misconduct with regards to a corpse.

The Police Prosecutor, ASP Roman Unuigbe, told the court that the accused persons committed the offence on November 16, at St. Raphael Divine Mercy Hospital in Ijede, Ikorodu area of Lagos.

Unuigbe said that one Anthony Lawani, lodged a complaint at the police station that the body of his sister, 51-year-old Mary Ehinlaiye, which was deposited at the morgue was missing.

“My Lord, the complainant had gone to the mortuary to collect his sister’s body for burial but the attendants could not present the body to him.

“It was later discovered that they had exchanged the body for another one and the family of the other deceased had buried his sister as their own.

“They secretly went to the mortuary and exchange the corpses and tried to return her to her brother without two wrists and a heart.

“Fortunately, Lawani discovered the missing parts and drew the attention of the police to the situation,” he said.

The offence, he said contravened the provisions of sections 165 (b) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. (Revised)

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that section 165 (b) provides for five years imprisonment while 411 provides two years for conspiracy.

After the charges were read to them, they pleaded not guilty.

Chief Magistrate Peter Ojo, admitted the accused to bail in the N500,000 each with two sureties each in like sum.

Ojo ordered that one of the sureties must be a blood relation and must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction.

He also ordered that the sureties must also show evidence of three years tax payment to the Lagos Government and be gainfully employed.

Ojo adjourned the case until January 30 for trial.

No fewer than five people have been abducted by some hoodlums suspected to be kidnappers at Amurin village on the Akure-Owo Expressway in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The incident, which occurred on Tuesday evening, was said to have thrown travellers and motorists on the road into panic.

It was gathered that the hoodlums operated for several minutes as they barricaded the road and stopped the vehicle conveying the victims, who were coming from Owo.

A source stated that the victims were members of staff of the Federal Medical Centre and the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, both in Owo.

A doctor at the FMC told our correspondent on condition of anonymity that the victims included a doctor and two nurses from the institution, as well as lecturers of the polytechnic.

He said, “The victims were medical staff members of the FMC. They were returning to Akure after the close of work on Tuesday evening. One of them is a pregnant doctor, and two nurses of the FMC. Some lecturers of the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic were also kidnapped.

“This is a very pathetic development in this country. Last week, some travellers were kidnapped in the Akoko area. They were later released after the families of all of them had paid ransom.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Femi Joseph, confirmed the latest incident but stated that only two people were kidnapped by the hoodlums. He, however, did not disclose the identities of the victims.

Joseph said, “Only two people were abducted. The hoodlums operated on the expressway like armed robbers but immediately they heard that our men were approaching, they fled with the two victims.

“Investigation has commenced and our men have already been deployed in the area to free the victims and arrest the hoodlums.”

It was gathered that the hoodlums had not contacted the families of the victims to demand ransom as of the time of filing this report.

A pharmacist killed his wife so he can start a new life with boyfriend. He was looking to claim $2 million in her life insurance.

37 year old Mitesh Patel, strangled his wife Jessica, 34, to death at their Middlesbrough home on the evening of 14 May. He then staged a burglary, ransacked his own home to make it look like an intruder had killed his wife.

Afterwards, he headed to the pharmacy he and his wife owned on Roman Road to set up an alibi. He then texted his wife’s phone about food and ordered pizza to make it look like he had no idea she was dead.

Later, Patel returned home and called 999. In his 999 call, Patel pretended to cry while saying: “come on baby, wake up”.

But evidence from his own CCTV, internet searches and a health and fitness app on his phone exposed him.

He was sentenced to a minimum of 30 years at Teesside Crown Court.

Patel had been cheating on his wife with other men he met on Grindr and other gay dating apps. He was dating a doctor named Amit Patel who live in Sydney and planned to emigrate to Australia to be with the man who he referred to as his “soulmate”.

Patel strangled Jessica to death after searching “I want to kill my wife” online and watching videos on strangulation.

A jury convicted him of murder after four hours of deliberations on Tuesday.

Jessica’s heartbroken family read out three statements about the victim before Mr Justice Goss delivered the sentence on Wednesday.

A 35-year-old estate agent, Gbeminiyi Babajide, has been arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly defrauding his estranged lover of N5m.

The accused, who lives at 10 Bolarinwa Street, Kajola, Ibadan, Oyo State, is facing two counts of fraud and stealing.

It was gathered that the accused allegedly collected the sum of N5m from his estranged lover, Oluwaseun Giwa, by pretending to help her invest the fund in a business.

According to the police prosecutor, Michael Unah, the accused committed the offences between 2014 and 2016 in Surulere, Lagos.

Unah said the complainant transferred the N5m, which she wanted to use to open a supermarket, into the account of the accused for safekeeping and investment purpose.

The prosecutor stated, “The complainant entrusted the N5m to the care of the accused while they were in a relationship.

“The accused converted the money into his personal use without the complainant’s consent after they had gone their separate ways.

“All efforts made to recover the money proved abortive as the accused resorted to threatening her whenever she asked for the money.”

Unah said the offences violated sections 287, 314 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015 (revised).

According to him, Section 287 stipulated a seven-year jail term for stealing, while Section 314 prescribed 15 years for obtaining under false pretences.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The presiding magistrate, Mr A. A. Fashola, admitted the accused to N250,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

Fashola said the sureties must be gainfully employed with evidence of three years tax payment to the Lagos State Government and have their addresses verified by the court.

He added that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.

The magistrate adjourned the case till January 30, 2019, for mention.

A wedding was called off after the bride let her dreams for her wedding make her lose her humanity.

A wedding planner shared the story of the cancelled wedding on NotAlwaysRight.com as she opened up about the worst wedding she has ever worked on.

The wedding planner said the problems all started when the bride's sister fell pregnant. She said the sister had been trying for a baby for three years before finally conceiving. But when the bride found out about the pregnancy, she kicked her sister out of the wedding party and banned her from being a bridesmaid, saying:

"Well, then, I guess you can't be in my wedding, because I don't want to deal with the problems your pregnancy will cause."

One of the problems she stated was having to alter the dress to fit her sister's "inconvenient" baby bump.

The sister eventually had to leave without a word when the bride wouldn't stop throwing a fit.

A few months later, things changed for the worse as the sister lost the baby.

Recalling the awful day, the planner explained: "Bridezilla and Bridezilla's mom are with me and Bridezilla's mom gets a phone call.

"Bridezilla's mom excuses herself and left to answer.

"She spends most of the meeting on the phone. Towards the end, Bridezilla's mom comes back, slowly putting her phone away. It looks as though she's been crying."

The bride's mother then informed the bride that her sister had a miscarriage. But the bride's reaction shocked everyone.

The bride reportedly said:

"

Oh. Well, I guess she can be in my wedding, then, since she's not pregnant anymore."

Her comment outraged her mother, whose reaction the wedding planner describes as "absolutely terrifying".

"I have never seen something snap behind another person's eyes before," she admitted.

The bride's mother immediately told the wedding planner in a "deadly calm voice" that they won't be needing her services any more because she no longer wishes to pay for her daughter's wedding.

The bride was shocked by her mother's words and began screaming and panicking but that didn't move the mother. Then 24 hours later, the wedding was cancelled completely as the groom said he no longer wishes to marry her after hearing what she did.

One of Ronaldo’s sisters, Elma Aveiro, 39 who stated that the night reflected how the world was “rotten” and tainted by mafia and money, wrote on Instagram;
