Who is asking you to return the money, Firm A or manager of Firm A? Was the instruction written or oral?
Manager of Firm A told you that the management of Firm A have agreed that you should return, then ask the manager of Firm A to get you a letter from the Management to that effect stating their reason. Be polite when discussing it with him. |

maasoap: Porous borders. If the importation is through legal routes, everyone benefits including government. But with porous borders, the entire economy of a nation suffers including what your former boss produces. BTW: I don't think I sounded like someone who wants N24,000 per litre. from the article you will see where Okomu complained that CBN is giving importers facilities to import the oil despite the fact that there is ban on the commodity. Invariably the border has been opened for some people. When i said closed borders i meant not relieving the restriction on the importation, that is maintaining the ban and not necessarily physical borders. In the case where Okomu is complaining, those importing are doing it legally. |
Business › Re: Okomu Nigeria Sees Subdued 2018 For Palm Oil On Market Woes by iHart(m): 11:13am On Feb 19, 2018 |
maasoap: Believe, the complaints is not that deep but it was just as a result of the interview. Just to make the government aware that importation is affecting them. Now read me: I'm into the palm oil business. Up till May 2016, we bought Nigeria palm oil as low as N4700 per 25 litres. The price catapulted to as high as N24,000 by January 2017. Up till that May 2016, producers were making profits with that price. Today, the price is between N8000 and N10,000. Even when you factor the increase in production cost into it, are producers still not making decent profits today? But, you know, as with capitalists, the profits would never be enough. My only concern is that the government should do something about porous bother. If we close the borders, prices will surge high as demand will surpass supply. Cost of living will increase. Then the few local producers will smile to bank while plenty consumers will cry of hardship. The consumers will blame Buhari and APC for bringing hardship to Nigeria. So will you prefer a closed border with 24k per 25 L or an open border with 8k per 25 L. I produce soap and i know how price of Palm oil affects my business. My former boss had to switch from producing soap with palm oil to importing soap noodles when the price of palm oil was extremely high. Today he is back to boiling his own soap. If the price of the oil should go up again, i may be forced to shot down operation pending when the price comes down as i may not have the facility to import soap noodles. |

maasoap: I got the message right. My point is that it is not that simple. Most especially when you're talking about the long term investment like that of Okomun Oil. Besides, the up and down has always been there. You see their sales and profit for 2016? The current situation is not that bad. it is not that bad but the are complaining because they are foreseeing a an even worst future if nothing is done. This is Nigeria, nothing will be done just for Okomu, remember the case of Erico. Govt policies are highly dynamic and they are affecting businesses badly. So businesses should prepare for the worst and get ready to diversify. For business in Nigeria to survive, they must be ready to change with changing business environment. |

maasoap: Of course, you knew nothing. A company that invested a lot of money (including shareholders money because the company is listed on the NSE floor) into oil palm plantation and processing machinery would just wake up one morning and move into cassava farming and production of cassava related products? May be you're confusing large scale cash crop farming and processing with importation of phones accessories from China. In a situation when phones accessories business is not lucrative again, you just switch to importation of rechargeable lights. you got the message totally wrong. He used cassava as a an example. He is asking them to look for other secondary stuffs, preferably consumer goods, they can use the palm oil to produce. |
Business › Re: Okomu Nigeria Sees Subdued 2018 For Palm Oil On Market Woes by iHart(m): 9:45am On Feb 19, 2018 |
calberian: Okomu Oil Company should invest in secondary palm oil products.
If cassava tuber demand is reducing, you look into production of garri, packaged fufu flour, tapioca, cassava chips, cassava pellets, starch and other secondary cassava products.
Anyways, what do I know? don't mind those quoting you. You have i big point. They should consider refining the oil to vegetable oil, margarine, soap etc. . In business, when your core mission is no longer working, its not working well as presumed, you use your existing platform to pivot into something better. Even today we are clamouring that oil firms in nigeria should start refinery, while can't Okomu start refining and making their oil into something of more value? |

LaiveNg: Thank you so much boss! I really, really appreciate this... But please help me to understand. Is it that "number of moles" the same thing as "molarity" and "molar concentration"? And if yess, does it mean there are different mathematical relationships for calculating the concentration of a substance? Pardon my ignorance. I had a poor background in Chemistry. They are not the same. |

LaiveNg: . But i don't understand why we had to covert 100ml to 0.1L. the SI unit of molar conc is mol/dm^3 (note dm^3=L) LaiveNg: . And, i am battling with this also: . What amount of oxalic acid (H2C2O4.2H2O, MW = 126.0g/mol) is required to prepare 10cm3 of 0.130M oxalic acid solution? . I tried using C1V1 = C2V2, but i can't figure out C1. you can't use C1V1 = C2V2 because you were not given the conc of the starting material unlike in the first question where you were given 50% wt/wt. let's take a long route so you can understand it. you want to prepare 10mL (0.01 L) of 0.13 M oxalic acid. what is the mol of what you want prepare? recall that Molar conc = no of mol/volume(L). therefore no of mol of what you want to prepare = molar conc x volume(L) = 0.130 M x 0.01 L = 0.0013 mol what amount in gram (mass) of oxalic acid do you need to have in 10 ml (0.01 L) such that the mol will be 0.0013 mol? this leads us to the relationship of mol and mass. recall that no of mol = mass(g)/molar mass(g/mol) therefore the mass will be => no of mol x molar mass(g/mol) = 0.0013 mol x 126.0 g/mol = 0.1638 g thus you need to weigh out 0.1638 g of the oxalic into a 10 ml flask/container and make up the volume to the 10mL mark. in a nutshell amount (g) you will need = molar conc of what you to prepare x the volume in L of what you want prepare x molar mass of the compound... |

LaiveNg: Hello, bosses, fellow developers and programmers, i am aware this isn't the right forum to post this thread; i have been banned from posting on the NL Education forum. I have the following questions from my pre-lab manual. If you can help me with solutions, i will be ever grateful. . 1. You want to prepare a 50cm3 of 0.1M NaOH from exactly 50% (wt/wt) NaOH solution. What volume of the 50% solution is required? I think the answer should rather be 0.4 mL. First of all what is the Molar conc of 50% wt/wt of NaOH? 50% wt/wt means 50g NaOH/100g water. If we assume density of water is 1... then you have 50g NaOH /100mL water. thus the mass conc = 50g/0.1L (note that 0.1L = 100 mL). thuse mass conc = 500g/L. but molar mass of NaOH is ~ 40g/mol and more so molar conc = mass conc/ molar mass therefore the molar conc = 500g/L ÷ 40g/L = 12.5mol/L or 12.5M now using C1V1 = C2V2 .....(1) where C1 is the initial molar conc = 12.5M V1 is the volume of the initial solution you will need to measure out = unknown. C2 is the Molar conc of the solution you want to prepare = 0.1 M V2 is the volume of the solution you want to prepare = 50mL. thus making V1 subject of the formula from equation (1) you will have ; V1 = (C2V2)/C1 thus V1 = 0.4 mL. so just measure out 0.4 ml into a 50mL flask and make up the volume to the mark. Does this one look correct? |

LaiveNg: 2. An aqueous sample is analyzed and found to contain 4% NaOH: . a. Calculate the molar conc of the solution, assuming the density of water is 1.00g/cm3 . b. If the solution is neutralized with 1.0M H2SO4, what volume of the acid will be needed? a. 1.0M b. 50 mL (assuming the basis of the % is same with the volume of base) |
