deols: Let us help you out of your ignorance, omo Sagamu. My sister, you think many of those posting negative responses against Islam here are not aware of the truth of Islam? They just got the opportunity and excuses they need to vent their hatred of Islam on forums like this, through the activities of terrorists. Many of them have friends and neighbors who are good Muslims and secretly admired their upright behaviors and knows deep in their heart that the Islamic faith they practices mold their good characters, yet when issues like terrorism comes up they pretend not to know that it is an isolation and situation occurrences. It is all part of history in the making, and many of them have read all the atrocities committed in the name of Christian religion in the past such as the Crusades, inquisitions and the greatest crimes ever committed in the history of mankind in two world wars, they pretend it never exist. Ask them to look back sixty years ago whether there is any known history of Muslim suicide then, they will come with another excuse. So no matter how much you take to educate them, they have formed their judgments and nothing can change that, not even the Muslim benefactors they may have encounter can change that. |
I don't know why some of you non-Muslims like to deride Islamic issues. The OP is right on his submissions and you could see that majority of Nairaland Muslims supports his position, yet you will not leave us alone. Please read the below foreign media take on the same issue devoid of our usual sentiment in Nigeria; . . 20/09/2013 10:15 | By Periwinkle Jones, contributor, MSN Her World Muslimah is no different to any other Miss World competitions The new Muslim Miss World has been crowned. While this is a breath of fresh air – a beauty contest where women don’t have to take their clothes off – should we still be having them at all asks Periwinkle Jones… -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ASSOCIATED PRESS Miss Nigeria, Obabiyi Aishah Ajibola, aged just 21, has been crowned Muslim Miss World in the competition held in Indonesia. The idea of MMW was to be an antidote to the traditional competition. Instead of encouraging women to parade around in a state of UnCloth and judging them on their youth and looks, the crown was awarded to the winner based on her religious knowledge and piety. But wait, also her youth and looks. Even though the competition has been called a ‘breath of fresh air’ much of the basics remain the same: the women were all young, they were all attractive (albeit, less model-esque) and they were all still rated up for these facts. The bikini round was only scrapped last minute due to protests by hard-line Islamic groups. If the Muslim Miss World judges wanted to be truly subversive and celebrate a woman’s religious knowledge there would have been a greater mix of ages, body shapes and less make up so that their natural beauty could shine through. It wasn’t a different competition – it was the same competition but with a different title. ASSOCIATED PRESS I’m not against beauty pageants – except maybe those creepy child ones, where 8-year-olds are dressed to look like 35-year-old barflies – but think it is sad that this is still how we judge a woman’s worth. It seems that every competition held to rate and celebrate women is centred around their youth and looks – rather than their achievements. You never hear of a Miss World-type competition which celebrates truly lovely people, smart ones or ones that have achieved a lot. Or if you do, they’re held at a much smaller blink-and-you’ll-miss-them scale. We’re living in a society where women are objectified much more than their male counterparts. Maybe the answer is to redress the balance here and hold a few more Mr World-type competitions? But ones that celebrate a range of male physical features rather than just the chiselled, oiled-up Mr Universe stripper types we’ve already seen. A competition for nerdy, beardy guys who work in IT, say. Or shorter men, or larger guys or anything other than the stereotype of ‘attractive’ that’s rammed down our throats everyday. So what I’m trying to say is, if we’re going to still have slightly out dated, sexist, creepy competitions like Miss World, which cater exclusively for the male gaze and a very small sector of society’s sexual preferences, could we also have Mr Nerd too? If they need anyone to pad out the judging panel, you know where to find me… . |

Siena: You're obviously simply reading, but not taking in what you've read. You dey mind them, you know most of them disputing your claim have no idea of what is obtainable outside Nigeria and as such believe that most things are impossible. |

I am neither from SE or SW, for from SE to be saying Enugu state is more developed than Oyo state is amusing, as I said earlier in a post, I have worked in both states, I can state here that though Enugu city may look more beautiful and serene than Ibadan, we must understand that Ibadan is a very large city compare to Enugu and there are some parts of Ibadan that are more beautiful than Enugu. The number of industries and conglomerates operating in Ibadan is far more than that of Enugu, so you expect more economic activities in Ibadan and high GDP than Enugu. |
Ikengawo: NnsukaI have lived and work in Enugu, and I know all the towns in Enugu state, there is no way you can compare it with Oyo state. Oyo state is more developed and you post a pictures university environments in Nsuka to reflect how developed the town is, please give us a break. Some one else can equally post a beautiful pictures of the University campus in Ogbomoso to counter you. |
elektra80: u made some good points, but then some are off. Its true most Nigerian mechanics find it difficult to fix German sophisticated cars... But what about in the USA? The research was not based in Nigeria but in the USA, and the prices of those cars are in USD. So are u saying those mechanics too don't know what they are doing?I have looked at used car prices online and there is no way a 2003 Toyota Camry prices can be compared with 2003 E class or C class Mercedes. It is still cheaper to buy used 2003 Toyota Camry than to buy Audi A6 or Mercedes E class of the same year, and don't forget that even in US majority are not of the rich class, so it is expected that those car meant for average citizen such as Toyota and Honda brands will attract more patronage than the luxury brands. |
lomomike: Sir, I disagree with u on the age related problem associated with Euro and American cars especially German cars. There are many Volkswagen Golf MK1, volkswagen transporters, Volkswagen Passat, ford motors, Mercedes 190 series, Mercedes Benz W123, Mercedes Benz W124, Peugeot J5, Peugeot 404, Peugeot 405, peugeot 505, Volvo 470, Volvo 200, Landrover series, Mercedes Benz Gelandewagen (G Class). ETC which are at least 20 years and some even 30 years and they are still doing very great. While some new models of Japanese cars such as Camrys, Accords, Corollas, Civics etc I've come across are either total failures in some mechanic garages or In some junk yard. I know some other vehicles may not be reliable due to design process or other underlying factors (which also affects JAP mobiles as well as Euro and American car makers) hence necessitating class action law suits and/or recalls or extension of insurance; But to a great extent the issue of longevity of a car lies in the maintenance attitude of the owner/user.I could not have put it better, the fact is that most Nigerian mechanics are responsible for the sentiments attached to Japanese cars in Nigeria. This is because of the fact that German technology is way too advance for them to handle, as compare to Japanese cars. Even among the Japanese brands in Nigeria, you will equally noticed that most Nigerians shy away from buying the high end luxury brands such as Acura, Infiniti and Lexus. One is bound to ask those who believe the Japanese cars are more reliable, to take time to observe the oldest cars on our roads, you will be shocked to discovered that they are mostly German cars such as Mercedes 200 flat boot, Golf 1, VW beetle, Audi 80, and 1980 VW Passat which are still being used for commercial taxis. Most of these German cars have put in 30 years plus. In terms of cost of maintenance, the number of times you see a Toyota or Honda owners going to see a mechanics is more frequents than those with German cars except in some rare cases where mechanics may have done a wrong diagnosis on those German cars thereby making the owner to frequents workshops and end up spending so much to fix. |
CAMEROONPRIDE: God forbid, a Cameroonian receiving a scholarship from a poverty stricken country like Nigeria , to study in strikes ridden country like Nigeria? what is abu zaria? a cattle ranch?Yes a cattle ranch where your guys are being trained to help your country! . Continue to enjoy our hospitality, that is what make us great. |
CAMEROONPRIDE: did u make or census?I am sure you are just having fun! You seems obsessed with Nigerian issues, are you by chance one of those who benefited from Nigerian government scholarship assistance to a struggling neighboring country in ABU Zaria and other higher institutions in Nigeria? . |

munex007: I read every word!..This is fiction..The Morning call to prayer is around 4:30 am to 5:00am(i.e d first call)and not 3:30 am as you claimedMy brother, I am mostly uncomfortable with the bolded excuses because it shows how weak we have become by always explaining our selves to the unbelievers what they already knows. Muslims do not need to make excuses for the bad elements among them, because every religious group have their black sheep's and any intelligent minds knows this. Peace. |
From discussions going round my area today concerning the development in PDP, most people have started registering for APC especially those who ordinarily don't care about politics. I think there is light at the end of the tunnel for Nigerians. |
Eledan: Am ignorant...yet I know more than you.You know most of those supporting Jonathan especially those pips from SE and SS now believe that they numbered more than the indigenous population of SW to determine the out come of 2015 election. I truly don't understand how they reason these days and how all of a sudden minority of place become majority within the last 4 years and can be so confidence to determine the direction of where votes will go. We are waiting for the magic to happen in 2015 election. |
Mexyz: UnibestWhich school is this? |

olaolufred You should know that most of those against APC's are hired goons on Nairaland. |
I have been going through all of your contributions since I BUMPED in to this thread, I sincerely feel for Kogites because of bad leadership, it is a reflection of our National malice. The state is really blessed with both human and natural resources and so unfortunate the Leaders that have been ruling us have failed to bring development across the three senatorial districts. As for the Igalas, I think their bad experience with the more dominant Tivs in their former state of Benue may have shaped their psyche to hold on to power no matter the failure this has brought to Kogi state. As for Ebiras, Okuns and other minorities in the state, their lack of unity and cohesion will continue to give the Igalas upper hand to continue to determine the political direction of the state whether good or bad. For the guy arguing that Ayinba is better than Okene, I think your submission is based on sentiment, OKENE is the most developed city in Kogi state because the Indigenes have the same attitude to property developments like Igbos and because of the strategic location of the city as a cross road for travelers across the Nigeria. |
jayone15: And when u luk at it very well.....those things in d old testament r all tribal and communal wars....not religious wars!!.See correct reasoning! Pretend as if you have never watch Ten Commandments film. |
NJlapto1: They made a mistake huh? And thats why the Army can now eject the president because a batch of egyptians realised they made a mistake?...and then Morsi's supporters should all be tagged as terrorist and eliminated huh?You should know by now how hypocritical some of us are in Nigeria, and as far as they are concerned the name Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt is what they don't like to hear even though majority of Egyptians voted for them. Should Nigeria Military sacked this corrupt Jonathan gov't you see them calling for the break up of the country. |
