Heat Vision has learned that M. Night Shyamalan is developing a new sci-fi project titled One Thousand A.E. at Overbrook Entertainment, the production company run by Will Smith, James Lassiter, Ken Stovitz and Jada Pinkett Smith.

Gary Whitta (The Book of Eli) wrote the script for the secret project.

The trade says that while details are being kept under wraps, it is known that the movie is being developed as a starring vehicle for Jaden Smith.

There is also reportedly an adult male in the script, although Will Smith is not expected to play the role.

Vulture is reporting that "The Shield" creator Shawn Ryan has signed on to write the script for Paramount's Without Remorse, based on Tom Clancy's 1993 best-seller. Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are expected to produce with David Ellison's Skydance Productions.

"Without Remorse" centers on former Navy SEAL and CIA operative John Kelly, code-named Mr. Clark, who first appeared in 1994's Clear and Present Danger (played by Willem Dafoe). Liev Schreiber also played the character in 2002's The Sum of All Fears.

Stuart Beattie wrote the original draft of the script.

Hugh Jackman talked to Vulture about Wolverine 2 and in doing so, confirmed that Darren Aronofsky is directing.

"I'm starting; I'm having my six meals a day," he said about the preparations.

With Aronofsky directing, this will not be a usual "X-Men" movie. "This is, hopefully for me, going to be out of the box. It’s going to be the best one, I hope," he said, "Well, I would say that, but I really do feel that, and I feel this is going to be very different."

He added that he doesn't think Aronofsky's penchant for dark drama is at odds with the big-budget franchise. "This is Wolverine. This is not Popeye. He's kind of dark," Jackman said. "But, you know, this is a change of pace. Chris McQuarrie, who wrote 'The Usual Suspects,' has written the script, so that'll give you a good clue. [Aronofsky's] going to make it fantastic. There's going to be some meat on the bones. There will be something to think about as you leave the theater, for sure."

Steven Spielberg is set to direct Robopocalypse, it was announced today by Mark Sourian and Holly Bario, Co-Presidents of Production for DreamWorks Studios. Based on the novel of the same name by Daniel H. Wilson, Spielberg will begin principal photography on the futuristic tale in January 2012. Disney's Touchstone will distribute the film in 2013.

Exploring the fate of the human race following a robot uprising, Robopocalypse has been adapted for the screen by Drew Goddard.

DreamWorks acquired the rights to Wilson's unpublished manuscript back in November 2009. Publishing rights were acquired by Doubleday and they plan to release the book in June 2011.

"'Robopocalypse' embodies an imaginative story of a robot rebellion unleashed against the human race," said Mark Sourian. "This is a project we immediately sparked to and with Steven directing it we knew it was in the best possible hands to bring it to worldwide audiences."

Before he starts on Robopocalypse, Spielberg will be finishing up The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn and War Horse. The former will be released on December 23, 2011 followed by the latter just five days later.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, screenwriter Laeta Kalogridis, who worked with director James Cameron on the script for his Oscar-winning blockbuster Avatar--she was officially credited as "Executive Producer"--has been hired for rewrites on the Fox remake of the 1966 sci-fi flick Fantastic Voyage, which Cameron will produce with his Lightstorm Entertainment partner Jon Landau.

The original movie involved scientists who are shrunk down and injected into the body of a sick patient in order to cure them, and "Bourne" director Paul Greengrass had originally been slated to direct the 3D project, which has been in development for many years with earlier screenplays written by Shane Salerno (Armageddon) and Cormac and Marianne Wibberly (National Treasure).

The story also reports that Kalogridis is still working on a script for a live action remake of the Japanese anime Ghost in the Shell for DreamWorks, and on Nine Lives for Jerry Bruckheimer and Disney. ComingSoon.net previously spoke to Kalogridis about the former, while the writer was doing press for Martin
