Ijaymama after filling ds-160, when you're on the appointment scheduling page that's when you will know if you're qualified for drop box or not , the answers supplied during the scheduling of appointment is what you make you either qualify or not, you're still on track since you haven't scheduled an appointment you have only filled the ds-160 form
I totally get it now. Thanks dear.

debbyomi:
"In my opinion, you qualify for dropbox if you have been granted a visa before, And the visa has expired not more than 36months ago and you are applying for the same category of visa. Also it will ask you if you havent had any issues with the law or immigration or overstayed your stamped in time. "

You have to schedule an appointment and it wIll see if you qualify for dropbox
Yeah, @ timcywhyte, you qualify for Dropbox as stated here by debbyomi. But do I have to schedule an appointment first to see if I qualify? Lol...I thot d Dropbox eligibility page pops up after filling the DS160 form! I haven't tried to book an appointment yet oh! Kai, my babies have made me forget how this visa thing works or maybe it's just old age...lemme go try book my appointment and see what happens. Thanks y'all.

Hey guys. So i finally succeeded in filling and submitting my DS160 form. However, I am surprised i didn't qualify for drop box! Anyone had a similar experience? My last visa renewal was issued Feb 2014. Guess I should have qualified. Any ideas or suggestions? Not finding it funny oh. Tho i used this last visa to have 2 babies. It shouldn't affect my visa application status na, Abi?
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by IjayMama: 2:06pm On Jan 18, 2017
Thanks guys. I woke up @ 2am to fill the form. It worked at that time, thanks to my baby who won't let me sleep. Tried completing the form now and it won't open again. Guess I can only get it done during the wee hours of the night. Hopefully I'll get it done tonite.

Thanks dear, I just did but same thing. As I enter location and enter the code generated on the front page, it reloads and shows session timed out and I have to start all over again but same thing happens. I don't even get the chance to enter any info. Wondering if there's a problem with their site. I need to fill this form & submit asap as its been almost year my visa expired and I'm trying to meet up the time line to be eligible for dropbox. I understand I need to renew my visa within a year after its expiry to be eligible for Dropbox or am I wrong?
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by IjayMama: 8:46pm On Jan 17, 2017
Hello guys, been a while. Trying to renew my visa. Has anyone had difficulty filling the DS160 form lately? When I click on the form, it just keeps showing "session timed out" even while I haven't entered any info yet. Any tips would come in handy pls.

I made the trip with my mum but my toddler sticks to me like glue and my new born seems to do same. So most times it feels like I'm alone but the extra hand sure helps.
Just to shed a lil light on circumcision, Dr E referred me to Dr Amaro in WHMC who performed the procedure on my baby boy at around 8 days old. Paid $200. Was gonna do it when we get back to Naija but changed my mind & decided to do it here. He did a great job!
Dabira19:
Hey mum,how are u coping with both of them or do u u v a helping hand over there? Just wanna know cuz I'm going with a toddler too. Cheers

Hey guys...been busy with my new born and my 18 month old...all I can say is e no easy! Second missionary journey is almost a wrap, heading home next week by God's grace. Please for people who applied for Naija passport from Washington DC embassy, was hoping to go there on Friday but on the website I saw "Friday is pick up day". Does it mean I won't be attended to if I went there on Friday to process my baby's passport? Did anyone go on a Friday & still succeed in getting their passport? Any info is appreciated.

I welcomed my lil prince on Sunday morning at Oakbend. Dr E was on hand, called her before leaving for the hospital. The hospital wasn't bad as I had pictured in my mind. Kind nurses were on hand & as many mums can testify, Dr E was fantastic. Baby & I were discharged Monday evening. Can't be thankful to God enough. Second missionary journey, check! Will give update on bills later.

Of course! Saw the new price list but can't remember the exact figures for cs but it was around $4k+
ajujuju:
Abeg no vex o. Does ds increase affect CS too?
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by IjayMama: 3:30pm On Mar 03, 2016
@favoredgal, those Newyorkers are just greedy jare. Like @modath, some people will just be kind & give you small hot water. After all I didn't take coffee nor creamer nor sugar nor use their cup or paper towel, so if they wanna sell just d water to a preggy mum with a baby, dem for sell am for $0.50c...lol...Guess in NY city, it's all about d benjamins.

For Oakbend hopefuls who already have an invoice with d old price, I guess you should contact your Dr & request the old price to be honored. Maybe they can work something out for you with the hospital. Just my thot tho. And like others said, the search for cheaper hospitals have begun!
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by IjayMama: 3:23am On Mar 03, 2016
Regarding paying a lot for water, I stopped by a coffee shop and begged for a lil hot water to make my toddlers cereal & I was told I had to pay even as i mentioned it's for a baby. Sadly d water I had in her flask had gone cold so i had no choice but to pay $3 for a few drops of hot water. I felt pained! But hey, dis is America!

And for Oakbend patients, hospital bill has just been increased from $2300 to $3200.Went for my Dr's visit today & wanted to pay for my cousin when I was informed. The price increase don't affect patients who were given d old rate & have pd. These guys don't know how every $$ means a lot to all Naija mamas. May God help us.

Yes, i got my medical report from them & paid N10k. Didn't need fit to fly as I flew Air France & they usually are not bothered except you look so heavy like d baby's about to pop. I wasn't even asked how far along in pregnancy I was.

TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by IjayMama: 3:45pm On Jan 29, 2016
Thanks dear. Very frustrating. My mum made over a dozen set of neck beads hoping to sell them to friends and relatives on our arrival. Cost a lot of money & now we can't get the money back? All the other items are our personal used items & a few personal items for my toddler and there are no receipts for them anymore. God dey cry
anonymousmum:
Sorry o, it can be traumatising to say the least..

I am in the middle of a battle with KLM right now on an near identical situation (they lost my bag, eventually found it after I screamed and shouted, guess what, it came back stripped of my valuables, which probably happened at MMA2)

As they have said they don't pay for jewelry, including jewelry in the baggage inventory will be shooting yourself in the foot. May be best to include other items for which you have receipts.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by IjayMama: 3:39pm On Jan 29, 2016
Oh...okay. It's gonna be tougher for me cos these are all personal used items & I don't have the receipts anymore. This is just very annoying. Thanks for your help dear.
Amother4life:
The items were things we actually bought in Houston and so we still had the receipts. You need to get the receipts from where you bought the missing items and I believe they will do the conversion and pay you the equivalent in dollars or Naira.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by IjayMama:
K. Thanks very much. When putting monetary value to the items, did you use dollars or naira and you had to get receipts for the items from Naija?
Amother4life:
The airlines have a maximum they pay out in such cases. Just list whatever you can provide receipts for and they will send you a check after 3-4months. We got a check of $1349 for a claim of $2049 from United some months ago. Good luck

Hello house, my question doesn't relate to birthing but I could use some help. Flew Air France to JFK & on my arrival one of my bags didn't arrive. Been calling to follow up but not much has been achieved. Just got a mail from them requesting me to file a claim & put a cost to the contents of my bag but @ d bottom of the mail, it's written dat d airline doesn't pay for jewellery & that bag is full of jewellery. Any ideas on what to do esp to get value for my missing items? Anyone been in a similar situation?
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by IjayMama:
You are fine especially as your husband did the talking. Besides you can be in the US for vacation & birthing together. Like you've been advised, pay all bills & keep your receipts close. I know lots of mums in your shoes & as long as they didn't owe uncle Sam (US Govt) they were good & have renewed their visas.
Confirmeroptima:
I have paid the hospital bill already and the doctor bill already.

I didnt know of this trend until I was introduced to a Nigerian taxi cab man-Chris-by a friend's sister who also told me about nairaland paltform's on delivery in the US. I must say that the driver has been good, affordable and very warm.

Is it a fraudulent thing to come in wthout declaring. Am getting scared with different comments. Am not fraudulent and am not going to run away, I just want a good medical attention and other associated other benefits. Am prepared to pay my bills. I only need clarifications and possible intervention after reading loads of messages on this platform I became concerned and worried about many people travelling with declaration at the point of entry.

Pls what should i do exactly.

Arrived JFK on Saturday morning...flew Air France. Wasn't asked for fit to fly. Flight was good esp d Paris - New York route. At JFK, airport was crowded, was fortunate to be called to the fast track cos of LO. CBP called us (my mum,my 16 month old daughter &i), was cheerful & playful.Just asked how long we were staying. Stamped my mum & i in for 6 months (tho my visa expires in 3weeks) and logged my LO in. Surprisingly didn't ask me for LO's receipts nor send us to secondary inspection to scrutinise if her medical bills were paid tho I had d receipts handy. We had a bag full of food stuffs(no thanks to my mum) but they were not seen nor seized. Was a good trip. Chillin in Delaware now, porting to Houston in 3 weeks. Still plan on using Dr E of Oakbend, yet to call her tho. I also plan on visiting the hospital before making a final decision. Second missionary journey looking blessed already.

So sorry for your loss, can only imagine your pain. May God almighty comfort you & your family.
twingirls:
I had a still birth on 7th Jan. Its such a very sad experiece.
I used Dr Amanjoh of Methodist sugarland, I have no regret whatsoever! The baby has already passed by the time I got to the hospital for delivery. She stopped being just my doctor and is now my sister. D staff of methodist sugarland and dr Amanjoh are smply great, even as I grief for my baby, I reckon with them, I will simply choose dem again.

And Soulcare woman? God bless her for me, even thogh I'm alone in America with no friend and family, they filled d vacum well. She stayed with me all tru my CS, my 1st thought was to run out of the hospital and board d next plane back to Nigeria wt my pregnancy, but she stayed and held my hand tru the c section, her whole family stayed truout d day helping wt my grief, hers is more than a concierge, it's a calling.

To my roommate, you know yourself, I say Thank you.

To God, I bless ur name, cos you have already given me the fortitude to bear the loss, even though I waited 3 years for this journey. I thank you for defending my own life, and for all.

To my husband, God be praised, I appreciate you more.

Thanks vcole.
Cos I read a few pages back about Air France's policy of insisting pregnant passengers must get fit to fly from Port Health. So if the one from my hospital is not recognised, don't wanna waste my money paying a lot for it. Will just head to the airport early enough...
Please has anyone flown Air france lately? Any helpful info?

Hello people...hope everyone had a fab holiday.
Just requested for my medical report & fit to fly from my hospital & they are billing me an arm & a leg for each. Can i simply use the fit to fly from Port Health? Would close eye & pay only for the medical report. I'm flying Air France...Anyone been in a similar situation?

For my fellow Nigerian's who are travelling soon, I succeeded in sending my first transfer to yankee today via money gram in First Bank. I haven't suffered like this before! As I don't have an account, got someone who does. Each customer is allowed N190k per quarter @ the rate of N199-$1...However, paid N16800 extrs as tranfer fee...comes to about N207k approx...This actually comes to N230-$, not great but better than black market. So I'm currently scouting for more First bank account holders to make more transfers. This is an option to explore.
P. S.
Every branch can only do 1 transfer a day! I booked for my transfer yesterday but it was done today. So don't go to the busy nor highbrow branches...
