kkins25: I already gave my opinion on Trump. My point here is, let's recognize that Kamala didn't address key questions. So as far as substance goes, she only performed slightly better than Trump.
You said that was not her goal. Unless you were to provide credible evidence that this was indeed the intention, then saying "that was her goal," is just making up excuses the same way the MAGA guys do. Anybody can make excuses for their preferred candidate, but we must recognize the bias.
During the debate, I commented that she was dodging questions, so, this isn't an afterthought. She scored good points against Trump, but that's different from not providing substance.
Before the debate, there was a lot of chatter about what her goals were. Her main goal was to give off the impression that she could be President. She has the momentum, so not to make any major gaffes that would undercut that. And lastly give some policy themes. That's just understanding the politics of the moment. This was her first real showing to the American people. Of course her strategy was secret, but it's not really a secret. There were tons of stories on it pre and post debate.
Yes, she dodged some questions. She dodged the 'better off' question and the 'abortion question'. Both she planned to. She knew both would be asked. Or a variation of those questions would be asked. And she had a pre scripted speech she gave instead of answering the question. It was planned that way. I think she could have had a good answer, it may have taken time to explain. But her and her team thought it better not to. It's the same way Trump planned not to answer the question on whether he would vote for an Abortion Ban. He planned not to answer it. I do like policy debates so I wish it was more policy centric. But, because of the double standard even you've employed, I'm ok with her not answering detailed questions if Trump isn't forced to.
If she did a 2nd debate, she would most likely have to get more into the details of Policy. But Trump ended that.
Xavier5: Okay sir... I will be liberalized my liberalism aka radicalized my moderate liberalism. Thanks for the charge 🤗🙃🤝
#Xavier
I don't even consider myself super liberal. In fact most Democrats in the US would be considered moderate in many wealthier countries. The problem is the Right in the US has veered so far Right they're in Crazy land esp. with the Racism etc. etc. In a more rational world, people like Mitt Romney would be considered the Right. Obama/Clinton would be the middle and Bernie Sanders and AOC would be the Left.
You sound like you're a Republican leaning Independent who values intelligent people. I get it. Vivek and Desantis are intelligent. The problem is that they are also very dishonest. They don't believe the things they are current;yt saying. It's just a way to get power/make money.
bemeruca: Unless you have been to Ohio or lived in Ohio, shut the eff up. You cannot know what is going on there since you have not experienced it.
Exactly, I'm glad you're learning how it works. Because I don't live there I quoted other authorities. I quoted the Mayor of Springfield and Republican Governor of Ohio. Both said, it's made up.
Trump started a war with Hattians. There are about 300,000 Haitians in Florida that can vote. Trump and Laura Loomer started a war with Indians with Loomer's White House smelling like curry and switchboard comments. Indians are a growing influential group in some battleground states. He thinks he can make this up with the racist white vote? Lol.
1stGenAmerican: The white female version of Basillico. She’s run for several offices, lost all her races, is an Internet weirdo, prides herself in being a White Nationalist, and pushes baseless conspiracy theories. She’s banned from everything, including regular food delivery apps and Uber. She believes that the Russian-Ukrainian war is a fake battle staged by the media. Any sane politician would be ashamed to be publicly associated with her yet Dump sat and listened to all her bullshit as a means of debate prep. This’ll tell you all you need to know: known racist, nutcase liar Marjorie Taylor Green calls Loomer a nutcase, a racist, and a liar. It’s that bad.
Laura Loomer told CNN today that after Trumps assassination attempt, she was the FIRST person he wanted to see the next day, and she started traveling on Trump Force One with him.
"Since the assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, earlier this summer, a stepped-up security presence on Trump’s Boeing 757 has meant fewer seats for advisers and allies. The arrangement has miffed some advisers and allies forced to fly commercial to Trump events, while giving the appearance, at least internally, of a special standing to those granted a coveted seat onboard what’s known as “Trump Force One.”
Loomer told CNN she also accompanied Trump on the plane the day after his assassination attempt.
raumdeuter: What is says is that she will say anything to get elected which is different from what she believes while masking her core beliefs as the most left leaning candidate that has ever contested for president
Bernie knows she has not changed she's just pretending to get elected, once in office she will push her radical ideas
That is not what Bernie said. That is what you misread from what he said.
NBC News host Kristen Welker asked: "She has previously supported Medicare for All, now she does not. She's previously supported a ban on fracking, now she does not. These, Senator, are ideas that you have campaigned on. Do you think that she is abandoning her progressive ideals?"
Sanders: "No, I don't think she's abandoning her ideals. I think she is trying to be pragmatic and do what she thinks is right in order to win the election."
And? What do you think that says? She is going to be president. She has to find a pragmatic way to approach a divided country. So, she will go with being pragmatic instead of what she really wants. Obama did the same with Obamacare. That's what governing is.
kkins25: This isn't about what Trump. I could equally say that was his goal.
So why do your standards seem to apply to only Kamala? Isn't that the double standard I was talking about? I can understand if you took the position, you don't care if either has policies. Or if you took the position you care if both don't have policies. But, the approach of I care about Kamala's policies but not Trumps' is inconsistent.
So, if that was his goal. Do you think he succeeded?
The Bully got Bullied, took his ball and cried all the way home.
Honestly, this was a good campaign decision. Kamala was going to crush him worse in the next debate. She would have gotten better, been less nervous and learned from her flaws here. Probably would have goaded him more as it was very effective. Trump had 0 chance of winning the next debate. Has he ever won a debate? There was no upside and he's not an honorable man to do it for Democracy's sake.
These are the NYtimes poll of polls of the swing states. Harris just needs WI, MI and PA and she wins. The others give her more options is she loses one of those.
Trump advisers have a theory for who’s letting the campaign down: It’s the candidate.
Axios reports that they’re saying he lost the debate because of deep-seated personality traits. They say he “falls for fake news,” listens too much to sycophants, and is too old to change.
What they’re saying to reporters is very plausible. That they’re saying it is pretty dishonorable.
P.S. Some Trump supporters have theorized that many disappointments from his first term happened because he had too many disloyal aides, but now he knows how to weed them out. Stories like this one don’t bolster that theory. https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/the-trump-campaign-vs-trump/
SpaceX: hope you know she snubbed a fox news debate and again this is Trump's third debate. It disingenuous for you to say he is running from a debate!
It would have been Trump's third debate. He has only done 2. Most non incumbents do 3 and many more in the primaries. He skipped the primaries as well, like the coward he is. There was no Trump debate. No one agreed to it. Kamala was not giving Fox a debate after they paid 750 Million for trying to help Trump commit a coup.
happney65: The Coward,Thug and Bully is now running away from more Debates.
Truly,The Dems did the very right thing by asking Biden to drop the Baton for a younger Person.
Honestly, this was a good campaign decision. Kamala was going to crush him in the next debate. She would have gotten better, been less nervous and learned from her flaws here. Probably would have goaded him more as it was very effective. Trump had 0 chance of winning the next debate. Has he ever won a debate? There was no upside and he's not an honorable man to do it for Democracy sake.
That being said, it is an absolutely gutless cowardly thing to do. Should be disqualifying. Probably the first candidate in decades that would have refused to do the 3 debates. The Bully got Bullied, took his ball and cried all the way home. But this is Trump, he may change again.
raumdeuter: Kamala was inconsequential does not make VPs inconsequential. Most of the policies especially the wars under W Bush were mostly pushed by Cheney. Only a dummy will say Cheney was an inconsequential VP or HW Bush was an inconsequential VP
Pence was the face of the Evangelicals and most of the religious leaning policies in that admin were championed by Pence. The economics were mostly Trump. Anything on immigration, Economy those were Trumps strong points. Trump doesnt care about most of the religious stuffs. Does Trump know people don't pray at school or he cares where the embassy is and the symbolism of it?
That Kamala was largely useless does not mean others before her were
Its like a girl who sleeps around claiming every girl is a slut. Kamala was an inconsequential VP, Now you are trying to spin that All VPs are inconsequential
Again you got caught making shit up and have now moved to another angle. Why don't you post anything to back up what you posted, you can't.
You must have missed the "largely" part. There have some that have wielded more power. Cheney was one of course as he picked himself. But noone expects the VP to accomplish much as they just fulfill the policies of the President.
kkins25: CNN is roasting Kamala for the same points I mentioned.. She dodge too many critical questions. She was only more presentable. As far as substance go, na stalemate.
And that was her goal. And because she was debating Trump who doesn't have ANY policies, I don't really care. There is too much of a double standard with Trump. What policies did he put out during that debate
Tell me what he said he would do about: Health Care Inflation Middle East Ukraine Russia
Mike Pence is a core conservative, A religious one and what Nigerians will call Born again while Trump was the extreme opposite of that
When you see things like Moving the US. Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem. Issuing guidance reaffirming that public schools must allow students to pray individually or in groups Appointment of Judges who advance religious liberties like Gorsuch and Kavanaugh and confirmation of conservative judges to federal courts Support for the Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives Exemptions to the Obamacare's contraceptive mandate, allowing more employers and organizations to opt out of providing contraceptive coverage if it conflicted with their religious beliefs
Those are born again and Christian focused policies which Trump does not give 2 crap about but Pence used his office to push
In the Bush-Cheney regime, Those foreign policy and wars were largely pushed by Cheney
Now lets ask about Kamala in her 3.5yrs with Biden
Lol. Most of this is nonsense. You just put up a list of some things Trump did and said Pence did them without any evidence. Most of these were tradeoffs to get support of various groups esp. Evangelicals. The Supreme Court picks were pushed by the Federalist Society. David Friedman was behind the ISrael Embassy move,. So much Bs. VP's are largely inconsequential.
Xavier5: [s]Some questions are funny, hence I don't bother giving replies to them.
You're asking me how Biden has underperformed. Bro, if the reality of Americans regarding the issues like the economy and border security is not enough to convince you that Biden has underperformed, then what is there to say.
Biden isn't underperforming, and yet Kamala is runing on a "fix the economy" campaign.
Biden isn't underperforming, and Kamala was to help the middle class out of economic hardship. What happened to Bidenomics?
Biden isn't underperforming, yet people including lots of independentss are willing to vote for a convicted felon because they fared better economically during his reign.
If these realities are not enough to convince you that Biden is underperforming, then what will I say, when you will still be hell bent on defending you Biden the over competent fellow. [/s]
Did you just re-type this? I swear it sounds the same as the post you just wrote. You must have missed the question I asked you. Go back and reread it.
Xavier5: Okay sir. Let me go and educate myself on what the liberal philosophy is 😎👊🙌
#Xavier
Good idea. While you're at it, look up the meaning of Subjective vs. Objective.
If Harvard gave out degrees for catching clear typos or spell check mis-corrections(in other people's work, not your your own), you'd have a PHD. Sadly, they don't and unfortunately for you that would have been the only way you'd ever step foot there.
Xavier5: As usual, try and justify Kamala's lack of policy discuss, and heap all the blame on Trump. I believe I've made my points clear, debates are meant to address policies by candidates. So when asked a question, candidates should answer and address that question, and not spend vast majority of the time beating about the bush, throwing lies like grenades, rambling off-point, and blaming the other for their own failures. That isn't what Americans want, otherwise, why bother debating at all?
I was expecting you to say this, and I was not disappointed. So I'm not a liberal because unlike you I chose to not ass lick the Democratic party. Just wow 😂, but anyways, who am I to argue 🤣.
Bro, some of us focus on quality of individuals or candidacy, and not party okay. And whether you like it or not, Ronald Reagan was an amazing president, same as Obama.
Were these two perfect? No
Did they perform well? Yes
Did they perform absolutely well? No.
Did they make bad decisions and judgements as president, that faced criticisms? Yes.
Do I agree with all their views and policies? No.
As I said, I do candidates or individuals and not party. An as I also said, no law says that one has to support all the views of his or her preferred candidates, in other words, I don't support all their views and policies.
As for Vivek, reading this makes me laugh 😂. Vivek is not smart? Okay, if you say so 🙌. But the evidence that abounds in the media says otherwise.
But your brain cells did not die listening to Biden whom you've dedicated all your time and energy on this thread defending. Good to know 🤣.
So in your view, Biden performed well, but yet, Americans are unhappy with the issues of the economy, border security, energy, global wars under the Biden-Harris adminstration.
Biden performed well, and yet Kamala wants to fix the economy, not improve it, but fix it.
Biden performed well, and yet Kamala wants to help the middle class (who where of course faring better under Trump).
Statements like this makes me laugh, but that's what you get when someone has sworn to defend the "competency" of Biden despite the fact that the reality of Americans are the opposite, and when you call that out they claim you're not a liberal, I guess I'm not 🤷.
You're looking for how Biden underperformed? The reality of Americans serves as an evidence to that, likewise the "fix the economy" campaign Kamala is running on.
#Xavier
Reading that was painful. So much broken logic. Isn't it hilarious that I asked for why you think Biden underperformed and to give me specific policy and you did the same thing you accused Harris of doing, dodged, deflected and weaved, but never answered. Lol. I misjudged you. I can probably understand now why you think you are a liberal and are also a fan of Desantic and Vivek. You haven't really thought about it long nor really understand what the liberal philosophy is.
Xavier5: I'm a liberal, and my liberalism demands I call out bullshit as it is, irrespective of who the subject is, and that's what I did. I don't ass lick anybody. None of them pay my bills.
same way I'm a fan of Ronald Reagan, Ron DeSantes, and Vivek Ramaswamy (who are Republicans). I don't do parties, I do individuals.
#Xavier
Imagine someone writing these two in the same post. It is impossible to be a liberal and be a fan of someone like DeSantis or Ramaswamy. Cut it out.
Xavier5: I'm a liberal, and my liberalism demands I call out bullshit as it is, irrespective of who the subject is, and that's what I did. I don't ass lick anybody. None of them pay my bills.
Note, this is not about Dems vs GOP, this is about Trump and Kamala, and their performance at the debate. Let's not shift ground here.
The debate was an embarrassment, it is what you would expect in a third country's presidential debate. Neither Trump and Harris were answering questions asked them about policies (although Kamala tried very little here compared to Trump. I say it as it is), rather all they did was spend vast majority of the time, beating about the bush, throw lies, rant off-point (Trump), and blame the other for their failures (Kamala).
You attempt to justify the above with the concept of Trump behaviors making policy discuss impossible, but need I remind you that Kamala was asked questions multiple times... questions which she dodged answering. Need I remind you that she had opportunities to address the elephant in the room, which was the incompetence and underperformance of the Biden-Harris adminstration, and tell how and why she can and will be better, but she didn't. Was it Trump that was in charge of her brain and mouth controller?
Look, I don't engage in unobjective task of defending any candidate or party simply because I'm a liberal. I call it as it is. The debate was trash... nothing short of comedy. I'm a fan of Obama, Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosy (who are Democrats), same way I'm a fan of Ronald Reagan, Ron DeSantes, and Vivek Ramaswamy (who are Republicans). I don't do parties, I do individuals.
So, this topic has been a big debate since the era of Trump. How do you debate someone who lies with a Megaphone like Trump. And previous to the debate the consensus argument was that she shouldn't focus on trying to explain the economic policies, too complicated too much detail, so stick with broader themes. I hear you about detail, but we're living in a post fact world and liberals have to understand that. To legislate they have to win. Liberals can't get down to the level of constant lying of Trump and co. But, in this season, it calls for broader generalizations. You remember when Obama ran. Republicans called him professorial as an insult for doing exactly what you suggested. That he thought he was smarter than everyone else, he was looking down on people. What the media repeated was "who would the voter want to have a bear with". That was Harris's goal. As a Black Woman in the US, she had a finer needle to thread. Not too aggressive, not to laughy, not too smart or she would be uppity, but smart enough.
And fyi, you can't say you are a liberal and talk about you like Ronald Reagan, Ron DeSantes, and Vivek Ramaswamy. You just gave yourself away. Those three are as Bullshit as Bullshit comes esp. Ramaswamay. They hold a fake intellectualism, they know what they say is intellectually dishonest and makes little sense, but will appeal to uneducated Republicans. You know the term voodoo economics came from Reagan. You should instead of listening to how they say things, look at the actual policies they are talking about and ask if they make sense. They understand most people won't. My brain cells die listening to Ramaswamay. And I know he's smarter than the BS he spews.
Xavier5: Defending or trying to justify the underperformance of the Biden-Harris adminstration is unobjective. Defending the unpleasant performance of any of the candidates is unobjective. And that's something I, Xavier, will never be a party to. My liberalism says no. Gone were the day where you would listen to a presidential debate and be thrilled, but today you either get angry or you get wildly amused.
You say Biden underperformed, but defending that underperformance is unobjective. That seems contradictory, no? You have made a subjective analysis of his performance. You and I may have a different definition of objective. So, explain why you think Biden 'underperformed'. And then explain what you think he could have done better. Give me policy. If you have a son who is scared of the rain and wants you to stop it. So, you put up blinders in the windows, so he can't see it, dampeners in the house so he can't hear it. But he opens up the door and it's still raining. Did you as a father underperform in stopping the rain? No. because it's rain and you don't control the weather. Not all things have an immediate controllable solution and as voters it's our job to research to understand when that's the case.
bemeruca: Its their culture. I believe they are eating animals illegally in Ohio
basilico: Haitian woman posts video about Haiti voodoo and about eating cats and dogs. Elon Musk reposted this.
Blah Blah Blah
And you two, who live in Nigeria know better than the Republican Governor of Ohio who basically says that it is all Bullshit. You can commence the, "he's a RINO" now.
