By saying it's an assessment they at least have a way to not to talk about it, again to not have to criticize Israel or downplay an attack on a an Embassy which would negatively affect the US as we have the most Embassies.
1.) If they say it's an Embassy it gives them less options to support Israel in the UN and around the world.
2.) If they don't criticize Israel it gives people a green light to attack US Embassies.
So, the "assessment" line gives them a short term out.

This whole thing started because you said that the building bombed wasn't an Iranian Embassy. I asked you for proof it wasn't an embassy. You didn't provide it. Then you came back and said the US said "it wasn't an Embassy". When I showed you evidence they didn't say that. You descended into Name calling. The only mental disease here is your inability to acknowledge that you are wrong and crying instead.

The US having no determination of something means that US is saying they cannot very nor deny it was an Iranian Embassy. It does not mean it WAS not an Iranian Embassy. Not the same thing. Educated minds know the difference.
An educated mind would then think, why has the US been unable to identify whether a building that should have been under surveillance was/was not an Iranian embassy 2 weeks later. An educated mind would think it sounds suspect. And an educated mind would have drawn further inferences.

But as I said I'll check back in when they do. You'll be wrong. And you can cry more then as well.

And this exchange by an incredulous reporter is quite telling. The US admin is saying 7 days after the attack the US can't say whether the place that was bombed was an Iranian embassy. They say they are still gathering information. You heard that right. The US, with the best Intelligence agency in the world, that most likely had the CIA surveilling that embassy to understand the movements of Iran in that region is saying that 7 days after they attack, they can still not ascertain if it was an Iranian Embassy. Lol.

Do you find that creidbile? It's clear as to why. If they don't say it's an embassy, they can protect ISrael and they don't have to condemn Israel. And if they can't say that, the next best option is not saying anything either way.

And I remember the Jusge being not too happy at the defense during the hearing. One of Trump's attorneys used to work at the SDNY and knew the process. So the judge wasn't all to happy that they brought up the motion that late. They had received the documents a while ago and had plenty of opportunities to come to court for a delay if they needed it. It was a delay tactic.

I heard they had 1500 there today. May take multiple days to select the 12 and alternates.

Judge Merchan asks the pool of 96 prospective jurors if they self-identify to be excused b/c they cannot be fair and impartial.
Per the pool: Of those 96, about 50 raised their hands and then were excused.
The judge then instructed 18 of the remaining jurors to be seated inside the jury box.
