But don't you think we should have adopted something like the electoral college that is used in the United States to address the majority overshadowing the minorities? I think it would have worked better instead of using geopolitical zones because we have divided ourselves so by much by religion and tribe and geopolitical zones are also part of the things we are using to divide ourselves.

If you've been following the history of Nigeria, you will find out the minorities were only fighting for their own states, they didn't ask for an electoral college. They wanted to be on their own, all the minorities from the north to the south wanted to be on their own instead of staying in the same state/region with the major ethnic groups

That's why states like Benue-Plateau was created in the north, Mid-western state was created in the west and Rivers was created in the east

Well, before the arrival of the white men, the south east and south south were not united, it was the British who united the two geopolitical region. So there's no big deal it was split by the government
