Travel › Re: 3rd Mainland Bridge: Roads That Are Likely To Be Congested by IkemChris(m): 10:43pm On Aug 24, 2018 |
AutoReportNG: It is no news that the 3rd Mainland Bridge in Lagos will be shut for vehicular movements for 4 days from 12 am 24th August 2018. Lagos is a cosmopolitan city with traffic issues, with traffic issues from trailers, and tankers to cope, traffic in Lagos has been a pain to every motorist. The closure of 3rd Mainland Bridge will have an adverse effect on Lagos roads. The Lagos State Government with all security agencies has advised road users to use other road alternatives like Carter Bridge also known as Eko Bridge, Ikorodu Road among others.
AutoReportNG went to town before the closure of the 3rd Mainland Bridge to access the level of traffic and how the city can fare during these 4 days, during our assessment, we noticed some areas that may be traffic prone for users in these four days.
1. Ikorodu Road

Except a miracle happens midnight and all the tankers and trailers within these roads are relocated, Ikorodu Road may be the worst place to be. With trailers all over the road, they have not only constituted a nuisance to the road, they have divided the road into two, they took the other part of the road while vehicles took the other lane. Now that the 3rd Mainland Bridge will be closed, this road will be heavily packed as this road leads to major road outlets like Ketu, Ojota, Ikeja and those going outside Lagos.
2. Eko Bridge

Eko Bridge will be the best alternative for those who are coming from Island and want to link to the mainland, however, Eko Bridge seems to be faced with three issues, one is traders selling within this area. Traders in Idumota, Balogun, Oke-Arin, Isale Eko block the roads when they are selling, a visit to Idumota during the day will reveal the situation of things to you even with the presence of CBD and LASTMA officials, they seem uncontrollable, also is the case of the danfos that turn the road to their park, going towards Eyin Eyo when climbing the bridge is usually hectic especially areas like Tom Jones, Adeniji among others, except if the LASTMA decided to do a total overhaul of that road, another one aspect to be worried about are the trailers and tankers. The trailers and tankers have taken over roads from Iddo, Ijora Olopa up to Ijora 7up and then to the bridge linking Apapa. With these two issues, they can maneuver from Ijora Olopa to link Costain bridge.
3. Oshodi-Apapa Expressway

This road can best be described as the mother of all traffic in Lagos all thanks to the port, trailers, and tankers in this route. The Oshodi-Apapa Expressway has become practically unmotorable due to the trailers on the road, with the closure of the bridge, this road will be in total mess except for something fast is done on time.
Other roads which may likely be jampacked include, Yaba, Bariga Road, Obalende.
The good thing is that LASTMA, FRSC, RRS and some other security agencies will be on the road to help direct and maintain orderliness on the road.
Advice Since we all know the road will be blocked, now is the time to encourage our car owners to pack the cars at home and use the Bus Rapid Transit, BRT as this will help to reduce the number of cars on the road.
Source: https://www.autoreportng.com/2018/08/3rd-mainland-bridge-roads-that-are.html One thing I have noticed is that when it comes to traffic in Lagos many people always panic. I left mile 12 to Ikoyi around 3:30pm I got to Ikoyi around 5:30pm had a meeting for 25mins entered the road from Ikoyi around 5:55pm to get to Ikorodu. The vehicle had problems around 8:00pm fixed it for like 30mins and still got home around 9:30pm. All this inside the Lagos people are shouting that people will sleep on the road. The key to Lagos is follow that road everyone is guessing to be blocked then you will get your destination fast. |

Politics › Re: Osun Workers Smile As Aregbesola Begins Payment Of Full Salaries by IkemChris(m): 7:24am On Aug 16, 2018 |
yns4real: The Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress, Osun State chapter, Mr Jacob Adekomi, has said that the Governor Rauf Aregbesola administration has started paying full salaries to all categories of workers in the state.
The NLC chairman said this in a telephone interview with our correspondent in Osogbo on Wednesday.
Adekomi said local government workers and primary school teachers had started receiving payment alerts from their banks, adding that he had also received an alert of full salary for the month of July.
He said, “The state government has started paying us full salaries. But we are waiting for the payment of arrears of the balance of modulated salaries. We have already given them a 21-day ultimatum and we hope they will pay the arrears before the expiration of the ultimatum.
“Negotiation will soon commence and we are waiting for them to start paying us the arrears. But I can confirm that they have started paying us full salaries and I received the alert yesterday.”
But the Secretary of the 2011/2012 Forum of Retirees in the state, Mr Sola Olojode, said pensioners had yet to start receiving full pensions.
He said retirees went to the Head of Service, Dr Oyebade Olowogboyega, and were assured that they would be paid full pension for the month of July.
He said this while speaking with our correspondent on the telephone.
Olojede said, “We went to the Head of Service two days ago and he assured us that we would be paid full pension for July. We will make noise again if we are not paid as they promised.
“He also assured us that those retirees whose N100, 000 cheques given to them bounced should present the cheques again. The cheques of N100, 000 out of millions of naira gratuities bounced. Can you imagine that? The cheques were given to teachers that retired through Teachers and Establishment and Pension Office.”
Meanwhile, Olowogboyega commended Aregbesola for the double promotions they received without examinations and the employment of thousands of youths into the Osun Youth Empowerment Scheme programme.
He also lauded the governor for the on-going conversion of workers from one cadre, adding that refurbishment of office equipment and necessary items for effective service delivery would be done soon.
Olowogboyega stated that arrears and leave bonuses would be paid, adding that the new promotion status of each worker would be reflected and not the former level, while the financial benefits attached to the promotion status would be fulfilled.
https://punchng.com/aregbesola-begins-payment-of-full-salaries/ God these guys are cheats! How did we get to this kind of country sef. So because election is near this man now feel he can pay full salaries, NNPC now know they can reduce price of diesel to 215(but I never saw where they sold at that price though), the one that surprise me the most is that NEPA! NEPA! NEPA can now give us light for 20hrs hmmmm |

Poverty and impunity that he didn't eradicate even as a governor for 8yrs and almost 4yrs as a minority leader. Nawa oooo anyway 2019 shall tell if the next generation are ready for power or they just want to keep blaming these failures jumping from one party to another all in the name of good governance |
