I still do not understand how all other ethnic groups in Nigeria behave. I believe Igbos think quite differently from the rest of them because of our individualistic nature. I cannot judge every Yoruba guilty because of one Yoruba man. If you take a look at Achebe's work, he never claimed Yorubas did anything but Awolowo. All Igbos did not unanimously agree to kill and can never unanimously agree on anything. I believe its same with any other group but they acted like animals by killing people who have no business with the coup. Imagine going from house to house to search for Igbos to kill because some Military boys of Igbo origin misbehaved. When Dimka killed Nigerian sitting Military head of State, why didn't Nigerians wipe off Dimka's ethnic group?

Achebe has lost the little credibility remaining that he has with the memoir. A man of his calibre shouldn't get involved in something that we disintegrate a country that has been restless further. Now I know that intelligence is not the measure of awards or accolades won but a measure of the impact of what comes out of your mouth has on humanity in general.

I have tried not to make any comment on this issue so that I won’t be insulted. But against my better judgement, I will make a brief comment and I hope we can really bury this.
War is a situation that no one should wish on his worst enemies. War is not fair and at the end we count losses both human and material.
I cannot find anything wrong in what Chief Awolowo did (if truly it’s the truth) because the goal was to keep the Federal Republic of Nigeria together. If anyone was in Awo’s shoes I think the person would have done the same thing. For me it was unfortunate, but that is the price of war. As a student of history, and society, without sentiments I find it hard to blame this man. I am not sure of any government that will allow uprising without suppressing it with all its might. If some people could be executed in the Biafran army for insubordination or for whatever reason, then you will understand why the Nigerian government had to do that.
For those people that are fanning the embers of war currently, I think you should think twice and embrace more civil ways of resolving differences. Violence in unnecessary, issues should be resolved in a calmer arrangement than war.
