PoliticsFani-kayode Attacks Buhari, Says President Will 'end Like Pharaoh, Herod’ by iksmoore(op): 4:59am On Aug 20, 2018
Femi Fani-Kayode, former Aviation minister, on Sunday, lambasted President Muhammadu Buhari for declaring that he will jail more looters.
He stressed that Buhari will end up like the biblical “Herod, Pharaoh and Sennacherub” because he allegedly carried out more corrupt practices than any other leader.
Buhari had made the declaration upon his return from London, where he spent 10 days on vacation.
However, Fani-Kayode rubbished the President’s declaration, describing Buhari as “nothing but a pernicious liar, a loud-mouthed hypocrite and a schoolyard bully.”
In a tweet, the former minister wrote: “I have come back to jail looters- Buhari.
“You are nothing but a pernicious liar, a loud-mouthed hypocrite and a schoolyard bully.
“No-one has looted as much money, inflicted as much pain and shed as much innocent blood as you. You shall end like Herod, Pharaoh and Sennacherub.

PoliticsMy Mum Remains APC Chieftain, Not Involved In Any Plot Against PDP — Kalu by iksmoore(op): 6:39am On Aug 18, 2018
Former Governor of Abia State and Chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Orji Uzo Kalu has faulted report in an online medium alleging plot by the his mother, Elder (Mrs.) Eunice Uzor Kalu, to destabilize the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bende North, Abia State.
The former governor in a statement by his media office said the report was false, adding that the "perpetrators and cohorts of the evil act are afraid of losing their seats in the 2019 general elections."
The statement said the fake news was another ploy by political jobbers and their sponsors to tarnish the hard earned achievements of the septuagenarian.
Kalu also reiterated that his mother remains a chieftain of the APC and she's not involved in any plot to destabilize the PDP.

The statement read: "The propaganda being circulated by PUO reports is not only misleading but another wicked attempt to blackmail the mother of our principal, who is also a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
"This is not the first time negative and wicked lies are fabricated against our principal’s family members by the same set of people.
"We will not lose sleep over the antics and activities of these discontented individuals, who have no tangible and sustainable means of survival other than cheap political blackmail and character defamation.
"In a democratic set-up, we should engage in constructive criticisms as against peddling lies and rumours.
"We urge the general public especially the people of Bende Local Government Area of Abia State not to be distracted by the antics of selfish and ambitious politicians, who are only interested in their pockets”

Politics2019: I Will Go Anywhere For Saraki To Win – Baraje by iksmoore(op): 6:46am On Aug 17, 2018
The former Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje, yesterday said he is fully committed to the realisation of the presidential ambition of Senate President Bukola Saraki.
Baraje, who said this in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital on the sideline of the graduation ceremony of students from the Baraje Centre for Arabic and Islamic Studies, said Saraki has what it takes to become the president of Nigeria.
He said the Senate president had been nursing the ambition since 2011 but withdrew voluntarily for both Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari in 2011 and 2015.
“Saraki has been trying his luck to be president since 2011 but withdrew for Jonathan and did same thing for Buhari in 2015. With his ambition, it is right and I will go to any place for him to win because what Nigerians are looking for is in him. He is the only one that can right the wrongs in Nigeria today and I will give him my strong support,” he also said.
While reacting to a question on the alleged plan to impeach him by the ruling APC over his seat in the Senate, Baraje said only the senators could elect and impeach their president.
On whether Saraki’s defection is a miscalculation, the PDP chieftain said “Anything that is politically blended is politically possible. Saraki considered a lot of things before decamping. For those of us who know him know that he consulted widely before taking a decision. In fact, he consulted up to a fault before decamping to the PDP and did a lot of consideration.”
Baraje also disclosed that his formal declaration for the PDP would soon hold in his ward, adding that he belongs to where his leader is.

CrimeEx-banker Arrested On Wedding Day In Lagos Over 'N1 Million Theft' by iksmoore(op): 6:12am On Aug 17, 2018
A 37-year-old ex-marketing officer of Addosser Micro-Finance Bank Plc, Aliu Mustapha, on Thursday appeared before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos over alleged N1million theft.

The defendant of No. 8, Oremeji St., Lagos, arrested on his wedding day, is facing trial on a charge of stealing preferred against him by the police.

However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Samuel Mishozunnu, told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offence between May and June 2017, during working hours, at No. 32, Lewis St., Lagos Island.

He said that the defendant allegedly committed the offence while working with Addosser Micro-Finance Bank PLC.

Mishozunnu said that the defendant collected the N1million from a customer of the micro-finance bank but refused to remit it to the bank.

“One of the customer’s gave the defendant N840, 000 and another customer gave him N160, 000, but the accused absconded with the money.

“Mustapha was arrested on Aug. 11, during his wedding after the police got information that he was getting married.

“The police waited for him to exchange his marriage vows after which he was apprehended and charged,” Mishozunnu said.

According to the prosecutor, the offence contravened Section 287(7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defence counsel, Mr M. A. Rufai, urged the court to grant bail to the defendant on most liberal terms.

In his ruling, the magistrate, Mr Y.O. Aro-Lambo, granted a N200, 000 bail to the defendant with two sureties in like sum.

He said that one of the sureties must be a community leader, adding that they must show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government and have their addresses verified.

The case was adjourned until Sept.11 for trial. (NAN)

PoliticsJoe Igbokwe Apologises For Accusing Supreme Court Of Taking Bribe by iksmoore(op): 12:02pm On Jul 20, 2018
A leader of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), Joe Igbokwe, has apologised after saying that the Supreme Court was “compromised” in the 2015 Rivers state governorship election case.
Mr Igbokwe, who is the Lagos APC publicity secretary and chairman of the Lagos State Wharf Landing Fee Collecting Authority, made a post on Facebook, Monday, suggesting that the Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, had bribed the justices of the apex court to secure legal victory against the APC over the 2015 Rivers state governorship election.
“Wike will not have the audacity and temerity to kill again in Rivers State and run to Supreme Court to buy justice. It will never happen again where Buhari is the President,” he said on the social media site.
The Rivers State government, in its response to the allegation, gave Mr Igbokwe seven days to name the Supreme Court justices that Governor Wike allegedly bribed or be ready to face the consequences.
Four days after, the APC chieftain retracted his statement and also apologised for it.
“Please let it be known and it is hereby made known that I have withdrawn the post I did few days ago on Facebook suggesting that The Apex Court compromised on matters concerning 2015 Rivers State Governorship elections.
“It was not a calculated attempt to cast aspersions, demean and disparage the entire Bar and the Bench which I hold to the highest esteem. I am too small and too insignificant to do this.
It was a mistake and I take responsibility for my action. It was a personal opinion. This is to tender an unconditional and unreserved apology to all those felt offended by my post and a promise to avoid such drivel in future. To err is human!” Mr Igbokwe posted on Facebook, Friday morning.

PoliticsRivers 2019: Ogonis Drum Support For Magnus Abe’s Governorship Ambition by iksmoore(op): 7:14am On Jul 19, 2018
The people of Ogoni ethnic nationality of Rivers State, in a bid to produce the governor of the state in 2019, have come together to drum support for Senator Magnus Abe, in his aspiration to contest the seat on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC.
The stakeholders in the area, who came together under the aegis of Ogoni Mandate Forum, OMF, said that their reason was to save their oil-rich area from political and economic marginalisation.
OMF, at its maiden briefing in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, yesterday, however, urged other ethnic groups in the state to back the call for an Ogoni governor and give opportunity for them (Ogoni) to produce the governor in 2019 in the interest of equity.
Spokesman of the body, Prince MeluBari Akekue, expressed concern that since the creation of the state, Rivers South-East senatorial district had not produced a governor, despite its huge economic contributions to the nation.
Akekue said: “There has been a gap in the political frame of Rivers State concerning the engagements of Ogoni people. Our concern is to bridge any relational gap that exists between Ogoni people and their neighbours.”

PoliticsOkorocha To Umeh: You’re A Failed Senator by iksmoore(op): 8:08am On Jul 18, 2018
Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha yesterday lambasted a former National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and senator representing Anambra Central, Chief Victor Umeh, for allegedly failing to find his feet in the Senate.
The governor noted that Umeh’s recent attack on him was a ploy to get cheap popularity, which he said had eluded the senator since he got to the National Assembly.
A statement in Owerri, the state capital, by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Sam Onwuemeodo, said: “Chief Umeh has turned himself into an interesting spectator in a Senate he should be a key player or participant. And he has come to realise that being a party chairman is a different ball game when compared to being a senator.”
The statement added: “Nigerians have seen that Chief Umeh has not been able to find his feet in the Senate since he was elected into the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly. He has been staggering, thinking about which leg to put forward first.
“And for this reason, he has not been getting the kind of media attention he was enjoying free when he held sway as APGA’s National Chairman.
“Having been starved of media publicity as a result of his abysmal outing in the Senate, Chief Umeh felt that the only way he could get the needed attention from the media was by attacking Governor Okorocha and unwarranted too, leveraging on the impeachment moves against Deputy Governor Eze Madumere by the House of Assembly.
“In his recent attack against the Imo governor, he concluded by alluding that ‘God would impeach Governor Okorocha’. And you begin to wonder where Chief Umeh was coming from, especially when one remembers that he has never been heard on the floor of the Senate, even for a day, either for his constituents or for Anambra people or for the Nigerian people.”
On the genesis of the face-off between the governor and the senator, the statement said: “He has continued to talk about how he made Okorocha governor in Imo in 2011 when he could not do that before 2011 and could not also do that after Okorocha left APGA. And he could not do that in any other state in the Southeast, even in Enugu, which is closer to him. And in his senatorial zone, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had produced the senators until he came up recently.
“Chief Umeh should justify his trip to the Senate. Attacking Okorocha won’t be an acceptable justification for his inaction. His zone is being ravaged by erosion. He can begin with a motion on that. And nothing stops him from engaging a consultant since one does not give what he does not have.
“Finally, we want to ask Chief Umeh to face his challenges in the Senate and leave Okorocha alone.”

PhonesStudy Reveals The Emojis Each Country Uses The Most by iksmoore(op): 7:45pm On Jul 17, 2018
What does your favourite emoji say about you? Well it turns out it can be quite a lot. A new study by SwiftKey has discovered each country's favourite emoji, revealing some hidden insights into the ways we communicate with each other.
The company analysed a staggering 1 billion emojis sent using the company's customisable keyboard for iPhone and Android.
What they learnt was fascinating.
Canadians are actually secret Americans, using emoji categories that would most commonly be associated with American culture such as: violent, raunchy, money and sports.
For those who think that French is the language of love, well prepare to be vindicated, France uses four times as many heart emojis as any other country in the world. It's also one of the only countries where the smiley face isn't the most used emoji.
If you want to judge Australians by their use of emoji then you'd be forgiven for thinking that everyone there wants to live their life like Mad Max. Australians use double the amount of alcohol-themed emojis than anyone else.
So what does our emoji use say about us in the Nigeria?

PoliticsAPC Victory In Ekiti Will Be Replicated In South-east In 2019 by iksmoore(op): 10:04am On Jul 16, 2018
President Muhammadu Buhari’s loyalists, under the aegis of Buhari Support Organisation, Enugu State chapter, on Sunday predicted that the victory of the All Progressives Congress in the Ekiti State governorship election will be replicated in the South-East in 2019.
BSO, Enugu State, made the prediction in a congratulatory message to Kayode Fayemi, the Ekiti State Governor-elect, for his victory in Saturday’s governorship election.
Fayemi, the candidate of the APC and a former minister of Mines and Steel Development, garnered 197,459 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Professor Olusola Eleka of the Peoples Democratic Party, who scored 178,121 votes.
Reacting to the victory in a congratulatory message on Sunday, Godwin Onwusi, the Enugu State Secretary of BSO, praised the people of Ekiti State for electing Fayemi.
The Enugu BSO scribe noted that by electing Fayemi, the people of Ekiti State rejected a ‘third term’ for the incumbent, Governor Ayo Fayose, who wanted to handover to his deputy, Eleka.
“We of BSO Enugu State chapter foresee the Domino effect of Fayemi’s victory sweeping the South-East in the 2019 general elections, as Ndigbo cannot be left behind the progressives train.
“The domino effect is natural as whatever is good for Nigeria, Ndigbo will benefit,” Onwusi said in the statement.

PoliticsSenate Mace Saga: House Of Reps Panel Recommends Prosecution Of Sen. Omo-agege by iksmoore(op): 4:28pm On Jul 10, 2018
The house of representatives has recommended the immediate suspension of Ovie Omo-Agege, senator representing Delta central, for 180 legislative days over the theft of the senate mace.
The house also recommended the immediate prosecution of the lawmaker and six other suspects for “treasonable felony, assault occasioning harm, conspiracy to steal and actual theft of the mace”, the symbol of authority of the parliament.
The house made the recommendations after considering the report of the committee set up to investigate the mace theft.
In May, suspected thugs invaded the senate chamber and ran away with the mace.
The hoodlums were alleged to be led by Omo-Agege who had attended plenary on that fateful day, despite being on suspension.
Both the house of representatives and senate subsequently set up a joint ad-hoc committee to investigate the incident.
During the house committee of the whole meeting on Tuesday, Betty Apiafi, a lawmaker from Rivers state and co-chairperson of the committee, submitted the panel’s reports for consideration.
“Senator Omo-Agege actually asked the security people to allow the men (the thugs) to come in; that was why they came in,” she said.
“They came in and forced themselves into the chamber and overpowered the sergeant-at-arms. And you know the security operatives are not allowed into the chambers.”
Some of the committee’s recommendations are:

That senator Omo-Agege be prosecuted for incitement and breach of peace in the chamber of the senate and contempt ex-facie.

That the Nigeria police preliminary investigation of the issue should be intensified with a view to bringing those found culpable into custody.

That the Legislative House Act should be amended to clearly vest the power of maintaining peace and order within the chamber and precincts of legislative houses in the sergeant-at-arms of any house.

That the Nigeria police investigation should be concluded immediately to allow for prosecution of the defaulters.
