A personnel of the Nigerian Air Force has shot and killed his girlfriend, who is also an Air Force personnel , in fit of rage and jealousy .
The incident , which occurred at the Air Force Base in Makurdi , the Benue State capital, is under investigation according to the Air Force authorities .
The Public Relation Officer at the base , Wing Commander Emmanuel Iheoma, who confirmed the incident, said it was under investigation and more details would be provided in due course .
It was gathered that the killer airman has been arrested and his blood sample taken. He is in the custody of the Air Police in Makurdi .
Friends of the female Air Force official, Oladipupo Solape , who is known as Shomzy Shomzy to her colleagues and friends , have taken to the social media to express their shock over the incident and mourn her .
“R. I. P Shomzy Shomzy your death is some thing I can ’t forget so easily because your military plans is still in your mind . Well I can ’t continue crying my dear , all I have to do is to let go of what I can ’t change , ” One of her friends wrote on Facebook.
Sources said the incident occurred on Sunday morning after the jealous lover accused her of double dating.
The slain personnel reportedly hailed from Badagry and was murdered two weeks after celebrating her birthday .
Her last three Facebook posts suggested she was optimistic about life and thankful to God for all she had achieved.
On her birthday , February 26 , she wrote, “ God I thank you…… I have nothing to give you than to say thank you Jesus. I wish my self a long life and prosperity.
“HIP !!! HURRAY … . A big thanks to my mum , dad , buddy , course mates my FB friends … Thanks all for the upload, likes and comments I pray that God will not forget anyone of you… Who gonna take me out ?”
A day letter she wished a lady she described as her best friend happy birthday.
Her last post was on Thursday, March 9 . Along with pictures of her in bed, she wrote, “Those who said “WHO ARE YOU ”will come and say “HOW ARE YOU ”…. . ”.

ABUJA-President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to return to the country tomorrow,Friday the Presidency said on Thursday.

A statement signed by the Presidential spokesman, Mr. Femi Adesina stated that “President Buhari expresses appreciation to teeming Nigerians from across the country, and beyond, who had prayed fervently for him, and also sent their good wishes.”
It will be recalled that the President left the country on January 19, 2017 for a vacation, during which he had routine medical check-ups.
He was originally billed to return on February 6 but the holiday was extended based on doctors’ recommendation for further tests and rest.

A 36-year-old Egyptian woman reportedly the heaviest in the world has undergone successful weight-loss surgery at the Saifee Hospital in Mumbai, a hospital spokeswoman said on Thursday.
Eman Ahmed was flown to Mumbai on a cargo plane on Feb. 11 in the hope that the hospital’s bariatric surgery (weight loss surgery) specialists would help her reduce her weight, which was around 500 kilograms at the time of the flight.
“Ahmed successfully underwent a Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy at Saifee Hospital.
“She is now on oral fluids and accepting them well,’’ a statement from the hospital said.
The hospital spokeswoman, Amrita Dutta said the medical team would now work on Ahmed to correct all associated medical problems and get her fit enough to fly back to Egypt as soon as possible.
“We are not sure how long that will take.
“Ahmed had lost 100 kgms since she was admitted to the hospital by following a strict liquid diet rich in fibre and protein,’’ Dutta said.
Two-thirds of the stomach are removed during a laparscopic sleeve gastectomy procedure, leaving a narrow sleeve that increases a sense of satiation and decreases appetite.
Ahmed left her home in Alexandria for the first time in 25 years to fly to Mumbai.
She was flown on an EgyptAir Cargo Company aircraft, onto which she was lifted by a crane.
Her sister Shaimaa Ahmed and the hospital have initiated a crowd funding campaign to cover the costs of her transport and surgery.

A coalition of Niger Delta militants on Wednesday threatened to blow up Multichoice (DSTV ), MTN, Shoprite and 16 other major South African investments in Nigeria if the Federal Government fails to shut them down within one month .
The militant groups , who were reacting to the xenophobic attacks on Nigerians and their businesses, gave one month ultimatum to South Africans living in Nigeria to relocate.
The threat from the militant groups namely, Niger Delta Watchdogs , Niger Delta Volunteers and Niger Delta Strike Force is contained in a copy of a letter addressed to the Office of the South African High Commission to Nigeria located at 71 , Usuma Street , Off Gana Street , Abuja.
Signatories to the letter are General John Duku (Niger Delta Watchdogs ), General Ekpo Ekpo (Niger Delta Volunteer) and General Hart Bradford (Niger Delta Strike Force).
According to the letter titled ‘Attack and Killings of Nigerians Living in South Africa ’, the militants expressed anger that the South African Police were shielding criminals and joining them (criminals ) to kill Nigerians .
Apart from MTN, DSTV and Shoprite, some of the South African companies in Nigeria listed for attack by the militants are Eskom Nigeria , South African Breweries (SAB Miller ), Umgeni Water , Refresh Product, LTA Construction and Protea Hotels.
Others, according to the letter, are Critical Rescue International , Global Outdoor Semces , PEP Retail Stores, Woolworths Holdings Limited , Truworths International Limited , Clover Industries , Oracle, Power Giant and Airtime.
The militants said, “Arising from the joint meeting of the Niger Delta Watchdogs , Niger Delta Volunteers and Niger Delta Strike Force held today (Wednesday ) in Port Harcourt, we condemn the recent attack on Nigerians in South Africa .
“We want to state that the recent attack (on Nigerians in South Africa ) will mark the end of this nonsense because we will not fold our arms and allow this to continue . We, therefore, call on the Nigerian Government to immediately close down all the businesses owned by South Africans in Nigeria .
“Failure to close down these companies within one month, we shall mobilise in full force and commence massive attack on the above mentioned South African -owned investments in Nigeria . We shall also make sure that all MTN masts and offices are brought down to naught.
“We shall strike any property and persons from South Africa within our reach ; we will bring down Multichoice (DSTV ), Shoprite and others. We will not fold our arms and watch you (South Africans ) slaughter our people like chickens for no just cause .
“We are fully prepared; our professional fighters are already strategising , South Africans must be crushed in Nigeria ; our people must be free from these wicked agents . ”
The militant groups pointed out that one month ultimatum was enough for South Africans to relocate and leave Nigeria , even as t
hey warned Nigerians against patronising South African businesses on the expiration of the ultimatum to avoid casualties.
Explaining that South African Government wants to kill Nigerians within their (South African Government ) territory by all means , the Niger Delta agitators cautioned that they would not allow such a plan to be executed .

Abuja – Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Friday met with Chief Tony Anenih to consult him on the party’s leadership crisis.
Anenih is a founding father of the party.
The Court of Appeal had on Feb. 17, pronounced Sheriff as chairman of the party, while the Alhaji Ahmed Markafi group said it would appeal the ruling.

Markafi, a former governor of Kaduna State is being supported by the present PDP governors.
Sheriff, after the close door meeting with Anenih at his Abuja resident, informed newsmen that the visit was to seek Anenih’s advice on ways to reposition the party.
“If there are two founding fathers, Cheif Anenih is one. Therefore, as a father, I came to consult with him.
“I came to tell him that this is the situation we are. He as a father who formed this party, should help us on how to reposition the party to the period of 1999.
“Baba has given us kind and fatherly advice on all matters,’’ Sheriff said.
Anenih, a former Board of Trustees Chairman of PDP, who declined comment on advice he offered to Sheriff, said it was a meeting between father and sons.
“I have spoken to my son. He will speak with others,’’ Sheriff said.
Also speaking with newsmen, the Vice Chairman of PDP, Dr Cairo Ojougboh said that the visit was part of efforts by Sheriff-led leadership to re-unite members of the party.
He said that the consultation with party leaders across the country would continue.
“We are doing this in order to come up with a formidable party,’’ he said.
Asked if the Sheriff group actually broke into the party secretariat as insinuated by the party caretaker committee members, Ojougboh said it was not true.
He said that after the Court of Appeal judgment, the court served the police, and the Directorate of State Security Service the judgment.
“Mr Chairman did not break in, it was police who locked the secretariat that re-opened it,’’ he said.
Sheriff had on Thursday evening re-opened the secretariat which had been under lock since May 2016.

The Chairman of National Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ahmed Makarfi, has summoned an emergency meeting of stakeholders of the party to discuss the decision of the Appeal Court which went against his leadership.
A notice of the meeting signed by the publicity secretary of the group, Dayo Adeyeye idicated that those invited to the meeting are members of the National Executive Committee (NEC), members of the Board of Trustees (BoT), National Assembly members, former governors of PDP, former ministers under the platform of the PDP, former National Assembly members and party elders.
The meeting is in apparent reaction to the verdict of Port Harcourt Division of the court of Appeal which annulled the May 21, 2016 national convention which had given birth to the caretaker committee and upheld the leadership of Senator Ali Modu Sheriff as the National Chairman of the party.
The meeting has been scheduled for Monday for 2pm at the International Conference Centre (ICC) Abuja.
All invited members, Prince Dayo Adeyeye said in the notice if invitation, urged all invited to attend “unfailingly as crucial party matters will be discussed.

CAIRO (Reuters) - Five Iraqi passengers and one Yemeni were barred from boarding an EgyptAir flight from Cairo to New York on Saturday following President Donald Trump's ban on the entry of citizens from seven Muslim-majority countries, sources at Cairo airport said.

Trump on Friday put a four-month hold on allowing refugees into the United States and temporarily barred travellers from Syria and six other Muslim-majority countries, saying the moves would help protect Americans from terrorist attacks.

The six passengers, bound for John F. Kennedy International Airport, were prevented from boarding EgyptAir Flight 985 at Cairo airport despite holding valid immigration visas, the sources said.

The five Iraqis had arrived in transit from Erbil and were being held at the airport until they could be re-boarded on flights back to Iraq, whereas the Yemeni passenger had arrived at the airport from elsewhere in Cairo, they added.

Trump halted the entry of travellers from Syria, Iraq, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia and Yemen for at least 90 days, saying his administration needed time to develop more stringent screening procedures for refugees, immigrants and other visitors.

A U.N. refugee agency spokesman said it was not yet known whether the six travellers had been granted visas earlier under the U.S. refugee programme.

Bana Alabed, the 7-year-old girl whose tweets about life in Aleppo touched hearts around the world, penned an open letter to President Trump beseeching him to do something to help children still suffering in Syria.

“I know you will be the President of America so can you please save the children and people of Syria? You must do something for the children of Syria because they are like your children and deserve peace like you,” she wrote. “If you promise you will do something for the children of Syria I am already your friend.”

The complete handwritten letter, which was written shortly before Trump’s inauguration, opens with Bana introducing herself as a girl who fled eastern Aleppo in December and is now finally enjoying peace in Turkey. She said that her Syrian school has been bombed and that several of her friends had died.

“I am very sad about them and wish they were with me because we would play together by (sic) right now. I could not play in Aleppo. It was a city of death,” Bana wrote.

Although she now lives in peace and attends a new school, she continued, millions of Syrian children are still suffering throughout Syria and need help.

Bana uploaded a picture of the full letter to Twitter on Wednesday, with a caption directed at Trump: “I beg you, can you do something for the children of Syria? If you can, I will be your best friend. Thank you.”

Bana’s mother, Fatemah Alabed, helped her launch and manage the Twitter account while they were still stranded in rebel-controlled eastern Aleppo. They gained hundreds of thousands of followers (362,000 as of Wednesday afternoon) while documenting the horrors of daily life in Syria.

Followers would see Bana’s routine as a regular 7-year-old — playing with her siblings, reading “Harry Potter” novels, etc. — repeatedly disrupted by bombardments and chaos of Syria’s civil war. For many, Bana became an international symbol for the toll that modern warfare takes on children, and her tweets were likened to Anne Frank’s diary entries while she was hiding from the Nazis during the Holocaust.

Trump has spoken out against the United States relocating more refugees in the United States. He is expected to sign executive orders Wednesday imposing a temporary ban on most refugees, as well as a suspension of visas for people from Syria and several other countries in the Middle East and Africa.

In a follow-up tweet, Bana told Trump “banning refugees is very bad.”

I have taken a closer look at the roof trusses of the collapsed building and i cannot but agree that there is a failure in the conceptual design analysis. The loads were not distributed uniformly and there was no support at the center hence the collapse of the roof.Authorities concern should step in immediately to avert reoccurrence.

I stumbled into a facebook page called WEGO FINANCIAL -a Newyork based company. They claimed to be giving loans to Nigerians who wish to start business or expand their businesses . Out of curiosity I visited their web site www.wegofinancial.com as instructed, filled in the necessary info as requested, few days later , I got a text congratulating me of my loan approval. The text also instructed me to check my mail for their terms and condition. According to the mail, I was given 4% interest on the loan I applied for which was spread over some months. I saw that as mouth- watering compared to what banks collect as interest per annum.
I started doubting them when they ask me to pay 3% of the capital as processing fee, at that point I now understood their format. As guy man, I stop every conversation with them to share this with my fellow nairalanders to beware of these fake money lenders online so that gullible Nigerians will not fall prey especially now every dick and harry is looking for survival.
