A man and his wife from Florida are facing felony charges for “child neglect with great bodily harm” after their 3 month old baby died due to alleged neglect while another child of theirs tested positive for hard drugs.

Parents, Cheyanne Bury Schilling aged 24 and her partner Jonathan Lopez, 25, are now in the Columbia County Jail, with a bond of $25,000 as the penalty. 

The investigation into the alleged crimes began on January 8, this year after the death of a child at the Lake City hospital according to the police warrant report released on Sunday, September 6.

The report reveals that a three-month-old toddler was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. It further stated that the mother, Bury Schilling, had to be transported to a hospital to emergency medical personnel after expressing suicidal thoughts . 

According to The Sun, the signs and symptoms of drug abuse were reportedly so evident in the mother that she had to be sedated.

Bury Schilling was placed under “involuntary institutionalization for mental health examination” under Florida’s Baker Act.

The doctors reportedly claimed that she showed signs of illegal drug use, including “track marks and burns on her finger”

Further Reports suggested that when the detectives entered the house, they found another toddler whose face was bloodied.

The warrants revealed that the child tested positive for hard drugs following a few tests.

The cops said that the Department of Children and Families took hair follicle samples for the tests. 

Investigators say the family lived in a trailer that was “very dirty and unfit for children”. 

Addressing the duration it took to issue a warrant against the couple, investigators said the process was delayed as they were waiting for the autopsy reports of the three-month-old toddler who was found dead and the other child who was put into foster care. 

This isn’t the first time a child has tested positive for narcotics or died from the presence of drugs due to its usage by the mother.

A similar incident had occurred in Philadelphia a few months ago when a woman ended up killing her 11-week-old baby by allegedly transmitting drugs to the child through her breast milk.

There are fears that around 709 students will not go back to school in Chikwawa as the institutions are set for reopening this Monday.

Records from the District Education Office show that out of the 709, about 632 are girls who have fallen pregnant in the period schools were closed due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Director of Education, Youth and Sports in the district, Chrissie Chimsale disclosed the figures at a meeting held recently in the district.

“Girls in the district have been sexually abused since schools were closed due to the pandemic,” said Chimsale.

She said most girls are in early marriages, adding that the girls were not well prepared as schools were closing.

“We expect that 709 students are likely going to drop out of school in the district, mostly due to early marriages and pregnancies during the period the schools were closed due to COVID-19 pandemic,” she added.

She said the right to education is compromised, especially among girls who are vulnerable to social pressure.

“Most of the affected are girls whose figure is currently at 632 in the district. This shows that there isn’t much done on girls’ education empowerment in the district,” added Chimsale.

Despite the development, she disclosed that the district was well prepared to reopen schools as directed by government.

“We are almost done with all the activities in readiness for the reopening of schools this Monday such as training head teachers on how to make face masks which will be distributed to vulnerable students,” she said.

She added that schools are also provided with gun thermometers, tapped buckets and other materials which will help reduce the Coronavirus transmission.

Save the Children District Coordinator for the Apatseni Mwayi Atsikana Aphunzire (AMAA) Project, Hellina Mwimba said the organisation would continue working closely with the Chikwawa District Education Office in promoting girls education.

“We implemented the AMAA Project in five districts in the country with the aim of empowering the girls with education and we included Chikwawa since it has so many gaps to do with girls’ education,” Mwimba said.

AMAA has supported needy girls with bursaries and conducted a series of awareness meetings on reopening of schools.

The five-year AMAA Project, according to Mwimba, started in 2016 with funds from United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

It is expected to wind up in September, 2021.

Apart from Chikwawa, AMAA is being implemented in Mzimba, Balaka, Machinga and Phalombe.

The bride and groom were recently joined in holy matrimony and they look so happy in the pictures going viral on social media.

Godfrey Baguma, 47, who is believed to suffer from a rare, unknown medical condition, and his second wife Kate Namanda, 30, welcomed a baby girl some years ago.

Baguma won the less-than-favourable title in 2002, after entered the competition to make money for family.

Before his marriage to Kate, Godfrey had two children with his first wife – but their marriage came to an end when he caught her cheating.

Ssebabi’, is a father of seven. He earned his nick name ‘Ssebabi’ after winning in the ugliest man contest.

He lives in Kyazanga, Lwengo district, and is married to Kate Namande, 28, with whom he has five children and newly married to his third wife.

In an interview with Chude Jideonwo, Eniola commented on the issue of people being accused on social media for living above their means.

“If they’re living a fake life, they’re living it for a reason, and the reason is so that they can get more jobs”, she responded in their defence.

And then added: “Whether you like it or not, people don’t associate with broke people, so you need to fake it to make it. Fake life is expensive on its own.”

In the interview, which will run this weekend, she also shared the body shaming she earned, the several rejections she faced as a plus-sized woman looking to make her mark in the movie industry.

She said she used these events as stepping stones to success.

“Some people just look at me and say, ‘we don’t want to use your body size’ but to me, I feel beauty is not by size. But size was a major thing people looked at then before saying, ‘no, we don’t want you”’.

She admitted that these periods of rejection were difficult for her, but she was determined to remain undeterred in the pursuit of her dreams.

This determination, she revealed, came from the loving support of her parents while growing up. It was the reason for her confidence and tenacity. In her words, “Nothing gets to me”.

She described her current state of mind as being “very happy”, and said that she was grateful even just for being alive in the midst of a pandemic.

A father was arrested for allegedly killing his wife and two teenage sons “because he had a headache and was tired of them yelling.”
James Lee Webb, 57, was arrested and charged with capital murder after calling the cops on himself on Monday, August 31, 2020.

Webb and his wife, Victoria Ronack Bunton, began arguing at around 10am on Monday morning after he complained of having a headache and that her sons, aged 13 and 16, were being too loud, according to the affidavit.

During the argument Webb allegedly produced a handgun and shot Bunton, before killing both of the teenagers.


Webb waited one hour and then called 911 and confessed, the document states.

When cops arrived they took him into custody. When he was later interviewed, Webb allegedly told a detective that he was tired of his family yelling at him and telling him there was nothing wrong with him.

He is currently being held at Lew Sterrett Jail and his bond will be determined by a Dallas County Magistrate.

Popular Ivorian singer, social media influencer and plus-size model Eudoxie Yao has said that her relationship with Guinean musician Grand P is going very well.

Eudoxie thanked people who are supporting her relationship and emphasized that physical size does not matter.


The plus-size model whose hips and bottom have been the topic of discussion across the continent said this in a post on social media platform Instagram.

Grand P, real name Moussa Sandiana Kaba, was born with progeria and this has affected his physical stature.

More than 50 former McDonald’s franchisees are suing the fast-food giant for racial discrimination, alleging that it denied them the same opportunities as white operators and pushed them out of the system.

The 52 plaintiffs, who are all Black, claim that McDonald’s violated federal antidiscrimination law and breached their contracts. They operated over 200 restaurants and exited the franchise between 2010 and 2020. The suit was filed Tuesday in a federal court in Illinois, where the company is headquartered.

According to the complaint, McDonald’s steered Black franchisees toward restaurants in low-income neighborhoods, which typically have higher security and insurance costs and lower volume sales. The lawsuit said that the 52 plaintiffs’ average annual revenue was $2 million, more than $700,000 less than McDonald’s national average for its franchisees between 2011 and 2016. Last year, the national average sales for its franchisees climbed to $2.9 million.

After subtracting restaurants’ costs from missed revenue over the years active, the plaintiffs’ losses are between $4 million to $5 million per location on average.

“Revenue, at McDonald’s, is based on one factor and one factor only: location,” the plaintiffs’ attorney James Ferraro said in an interview. “It has nothing to do with the taste of a Big Mac. You don’t go to a different McDonald’s because the Big Macs are better. You go to the closest McDonald’s, period.”

McDonald’s said that while it may recommend locations, the decision is ultimately up to franchisees. It also said that the plaintiffs operated restaurants in a wide variety of communities across the country and that the company sold high-performing franchises to Black operators.

Black operators who rejected offers to continue running their restaurants in low-income neighborhoods were retaliated against, according to the complaint. The plaintiffs also allege that McDonald’s provided misleading projections that convinced them to buy undesirable franchises and denied them better locations typically given to white franchisees, who operated safer restaurants with higher sales and lower security costs. 

Many of the plaintiffs owed money to the company or vendors after they exited the franchise. 

“These allegations fly in the face of everything we stand for as an organization and as a partner to communities and small business owners around the world,” McDonald’s said in a statement. “Not only do we categorically deny the allegations that these franchisees were unable to succeed because of any form of discrimination by McDonald’s, we are confident that the facts will show how committed we are to the diversity and equal opportunity of the McDonald’s System, including across our franchisees, suppliers and employees.”

The Ferraro Law Firm began looking into the alleged discrimination in early February. In December, Business Insider reported that the number of Black franchisees has been shrinking for years. According to the complaint filed Tuesday, the number of McDonald’s Black operators hit a record high in 1998 of 377. In 2020, there are only 186, despite McDonald’s more than doubling its global restaurant count during that time period.

The lawsuit claims that the decline in Black franchisees is no mistake. McDonald’s allegedly graded Black-run restaurants unfairly, leading to poor internal reviews and subsequent denials of growth opportunities and better franchising terms.

McDonald’s said that the number of franchisees has been consolidated across all racial groups in recent years. The company claims that the ratio of Black operators is broadly unchanged.

In early June, Ferraro’s firm informed McDonald’s of the lawsuit. Several weeks later, in the wake of nationwide protests and riots against police brutality and racism, McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski appeared on CNBC’s “Mad Money with Jim Cramer” and claimed that the company had probably minted more Black millionaires than any other corporation.

Ferraro called the statement “odd and false,” listing the National Basketball Association and the National Football League as creators of more Black millionaires. He said that he plans to cross-examine Kempczinski in court to further explain the comment.

“They’ve been on this PR campaign in the last couple of months to enhance their image,” Ferraro said.

In late July, McDonald’s shared its updated corporate values and more on its commitment to diversity and inclusion. Among its efforts are plans to enhance its efforts to attract and recruit diverse franchisees, although McDonald’s did not define what makes an operator “diverse.”

In a video to McDonald’s employees and suppliers about the lawsuit that was viewed by CNBC, Kempczinski reiterated that the company stands for diversity, equity and inclusion and said that the lawsuit’s claims have been investigated.

“Based upon our review, we disagree with the claims in this lawsuit and we intend to strongly defend against it,” Kempczinski said.

This is at least the third racial discrimination lawsuit filed against McDonald’s this year. In January, two senior McDonald’s executives, Vicki Guster-Hines and Domineca Neal, filed a lawsuit against the company, alleging racial discrimination. The lawsuit claims that the chain fired African American leadership and pushed Black franchisees out. McDonald’s has argued that the court should strike some allegations from the suit, including those regarding Black operators.

Three Black restaurant workers also sued McDonald’s this year, alleging racial harassment, discrimination and retaliation at a Florida location.

An unidentified man has been lynched by unknown assailants in the early hours of Saturday at Bremang UGC, Nankabamu, in the Suame municipal of the Ashanti region.

The victim, who was found dead while naked, had multiple injuries on the body and was tied with rope from the neck to the feet to an electric pole.

Some residents, who spoke to Otec News’ reporter Francis Appiah, said they heard someone crying for help around 4am but were afraid to come out to his rescue, suspecting the person must be a thief.

“We later found out that he was caught by his assailants in an attempt to steal a car battery. We are happy because thieves have been terrorizing us for a long time in the vicinity, in some instances, stabbing people in the course of their operations,” an elated resident said.

The residents complained to Otec News that they have reported the poor security situation in the area to the assembly member of the area, Hon. Agya Sarfo, but he is yet to act on it.

A 36-year-old Zambian woman of Chambishi Township is nursing serious burns over her face after her boyfriend allegedly poured hot cooking oil on her face for sleeping while clothed.

Oswald Sikanyika allegedly poured hot cooking oil over Diana Manda’s face on August 18.

Narrating the ordeal, Ms Manda said her boyfriend followed her to her workplace around 20:00 hours on the fateful night and waited until she knocked off at 22:00 hours.

She is a sales woman at a bottle -store.

Ms Manda said after they arrived home, she cooked and they both ate.


She finished eating earlier and proceeded to bed with her clothes still on.

“After he finished eating, he asked if I was going to clear the table, so I told him that I will do it later once I rest a bit, but he insisted and after told me not to bother because he was going to do it,” she said.

Ms Manda said her boyfriend later joined her in the bedroom and asked her why she was sleeping with her clothes on.


“I told him that I was tired but would take off my clothes after I rest a bit and this seemed to have angered him,” she said.

Ms Manda said she later fell asleep and only woke up after she felt something hot on her face.

There was a bloodbath when a soldier stabbed his estranged wife seven times and ripped her stomach open after she refused to reconcile with him.

iHarare has learned from state media that Gugulethu Ndlovu (29) who is stationed at the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) 1.2 Infantry Battalion in Hwange had separated with his wife Nompilo Moyo following a matrimonial dispute. Moyo is reported to have abandoned the couple’s home in Nkulumane suburb after she was accused of infidelity. Following numerous altercations over the issue, she moved back to her parents’ home at Kumbudzi Village under Chief Mathe area in Gwanda District.

Ndlovu seems to have had a change of heart and followed Moyo intending to reconcile with her so that she would come back home.

Unfortunately, Ndlovu’s plans and the planned discussion did not go as expected. Moyo is reported to have refused to welcome her estranged husband and did not respond positively to his entreaties.

The situation quickly unravelled and Ndlovu went beserk and pushed his wife to the ground before indiscriminately stabbing her 7 times and ripping her stomach open in a brutal frenzy. Moyo died on the spot.

After committing the brutal crime, Ndlovu initially fled the scene before going on to hand himself over to the military police at the ZNA School of Infantry barracks in Mbalabala. The military police then handed over Ndlovu to the police where he was arrested and charged with murder.

Ndlovu has since applied for bail pending trial at the Bulawayo High Court arguing that he is the perfect candidate for bail because he is not a flight risk. Part of his bail application which was filed by his lawyer reads,

“The applicant has a strong defence to the allegations levelled against him. He is not a flight risk and there is no tangible evidence for the contention that he will escape or interfere with State witnesses if released on bail.

“Applicant is a serving member of the Zimbabwe National Army, which on its own is a disciplined organisation with a capacity to monitor his movement such that it will not be easy for him to escape if released on bail.”

The state has opposed the application for bail contending that Ndlovu is likely to abscond due to the severity of the charges against him. Part of the state’s response reads,

“It should be noted that the murder itself was committed in a callous manner. The applicant stabbed the deceased seven times and fled from the scene. The State case is strong such that a lengthy custodial sentence is likely, even a death sentence is a likelihood,”

At the time of publishing, the High Court was yet to rule on the soldier’s application for bail.

Police in Kagera Region, Tanzania have arrested a 26-year-old man accused of killing his 28-year-old lover and her daughter.

Derick Dambuve killed the two after his lover, Helda Amon, who had carried her child to Derick’s place, engaged in sexual intercourse with Derick’s roommate identified as Kajere Ibrahim.

Kagera regional police boss, Revocatus Malimi, told Tanzanian news outlet, Global Publishers, that the incident occurred at the suspect’s home in Mukoma Village in Ngara District, Northwest Tanzania last Saturday, August 22.

Police say Derick’s lover, Helda, had gone to Mukoma village for open market day, when she and the suspect met.

“Helda, a married woman, had carried her daughter, Gladness, with her to the market. Later that day, she went into a bar, where she met Derick,” said Malimi, the Kagera regional police boss.

“The two liked each other, and Helda agreed to accompany Derick to his home for the night. Derick, who is a mason, still had some work to complete. As a result, he asked his friend, identified as Alex Gray, to take Helda to his (Alex’s) home, where he (Derick) would later pick her from.

“Before leaving for work, Derick bought Helda and Alex alcohol. Later that evening, Alex took Helda to Derick’s house believing he (Derick) had already returned home from work.

“However, Helda found Derick’s door locked, and was, as a result, forced to wait outside.”

The police boss said while Helda was waiting for Derick to return home, his roommate, Kajere, arrived and ushered the mother-and-child into the house.

“Kajere seduced Helda. Shortly after knowing each other, the two engaged in sexual intercourse. The incident happened in Derick’s house. As they were still immersed in intimacy, Derick arrived unannounced, catching the two in bed.

“Kajere managed to escape, leaving Helda and her daughter behind. An enraged Derick picked all manner of crude weapons and struck Helda on different parts of her body. Eventually, Derick picked a barbell (weight lifting equipment) and smashed it against Helda’s chest, killing her on the spot.

“Derick killed Helda as her daughter, Gladness, watched. The child, who is below five years, began crying on seeing her mother lying motionless in a pool of blood. A livid Derick picked the same weight lifting equipment he’d just used to kill Helda, and smashed it against the child, killing her instantly.

Derick is being held in lawful custody at a Kagera police station. He will, upon completion of investigations, be charged with causing the deaths of Helda and her child.

A Chief Magistrate Court in Kano on Wednesday later ordered all commercial luxurious buses to stop operating in the state pending the hearing of motion on notice.

One of the traders, Mr Uchendu Okonkwo, who deals in water pumping machines and other plumbing material at Sabon Gari Market, said the court order had really affected his business as he had planned to travel to Lagos on Thursday but could not make it following the order.

“I had planned to go to Lagos by luxurious bus to purchase some things but unfortunately when I reached the park at Unguwa Uku, it was closed,” Okonkwo said.

According to him, many traders who had wanted to travel to the east today were stranded as a result of the suspension placed on the operations of the buses.

Another trader, who simply gave his name as Anthony, said the suspension on the operations of the luxurious buses had taken him by surprise as he planned to travel to Aba to bring the electronic appliances he ordered last week.

“I’m really saddened with the court order because I don’t know what to do now. I have to incur additional expenses if I have to travel by other commercial vehicles,” he said.

He, however, called on the Kano State Government to intervene to save travellers from going through a tough time in carrying out their businesses.

A Brazilian congresswoman has been accused of orchestrating the murder of her pastor husband, after multiple botched attempts.


Flordelis dos Santos de Souza’s husband, Anderson do Carmo, was shot 30 times at their home in Rio de Janeiro in June 2019.

Ms de Souza, 59, said her husband, 42, had been killed in a robbery.

But prosecutors say they have unearthed a murder plot, implicating Ms de Souza and several of her children.

Ms de Souza, a celebrity lawmaker for Rio de Janeiro who found fame as a gospel singer before entering politics, has dismissed the allegations, insisting she is innocent.

On Monday, prosecutors announced charges against Ms de Souza and 10 others, including six of her children and one granddaughter. Arrest warrants were issued against nine of the accused.

Police could not arrest Ms de Souza, known as Flordelis to her fans, because her status as an elected lawmaker affords her parliamentary immunity.

Instead, detectives have written to Congress with details of their investigation, asking for Ms de Souza to be stripped of her parliamentary status.

“The conclusion the investigation reached was this: that she [Ms de Souza] planned this cowardly murder,” homicide chief Antonio Ricardo Lima Nunes told reporters.

The congresswoman (centre) with some of her 55 children, most of whom are adopted. Investigators say a row broke out with her husband over giving some of the children preferential treatment.

He cited a feud over Mr do Carmo’s handling of the family’s finances as a possible motive.

Prosecutors described a vicious family row in which Ms de Souza’s husband blocked her from giving “preferential treatment” to her favourite children.

They said Ms de Souza had tried to poison her husband at least six times before ultimately ordering several of her children to kill him.

Mr do Carmo, 42, was gunned down in the early hours of 16 June at the couple’s home in Niteroi, a city in south-east Brazil.

Investigators said Flavio dos Santos Rodrigues, Ms de Souza’s biological son, fired the shots that killed his stepfather, with a gun purchased by Lucas Cesar dos Santos, one of the couple’s adopted children.

Given Ms de Souza’s celebrity status, Mr do Carmo’s murder and the subsequent investigation has attracted much media attention in Brazil.

Ms de Souza and her husband, who were parents to more than 50 biological and adopted children, were considered a power couple of Brazil’s burgeoning Evangelical Christian movement.

The lawmaker has pleaded her innocence, insisting she “never ordered this savage crime” her lawyer said, according to Brazilian media.

But speaking to Brazilian TV network Globo, police commissioner Allan Duarte portrayed Ms de Souza as the ringleader of the alleged murder plot.

“The investigation demonstrated that [Ms de Souza’s] image of altruism and decency was merely a ploy to gain wealth and political power,” he said.

An 18-year-old boy was allegedly stabbed to death in Chandigarh after he asked three miscreants to return a matchbox to a local shopkeeper.

The incident took place on Sunday night at a shop in Colony number 4, Phase-1, Industrial Area.

The deceased teen was identified as Sandeep Kumar. Kumar was a resident of Maloya and was visiting his relatives in Colony number 4.

The accused, identified as Vikas and Akash are also residents of Maloya. On the day of the incident, Sandeep was standing at a roadside vendor when three other persons arrived at the spot.

The three men purchased bidis from the vendor and asked for a matchbox. The man handed over the matchbox to the accused but when he asked them to return it, they refused. Sandeep, who was standing at the shop, supported the shopkeeper and asked the three men to return the matchbox, The Indian Express reported.

The accused allegedly flew into a rage and started arguing with Sandeep. When the argument escalated, the accused men stabbed Sandeep around 4-5 times. Sandeep was taken to the GMCH-32 where he breathed his last while treatment was being administered to him.

The police said that one of the accused was arrested soon after the incident by the locals. A cop said, “The identity of the third assailant has been established. He will be arrested shortly. ” The police said that the arrested accused will be presented before the district court on Tuesday.

The deceased’s father Jugnoo said that he was sitting at his relative’s home when he learned about the assault on his son. Jugnoo said that he rushed to the spot and saw his 18-year-old son lying in a pool of blood.

Police in Zambia’s capital, Lusaka are hunting for a woman who killed her husband during a fight and dumped the body in another house within the compound.

The country’s police spokesperson Esther Katongo confirmed in a statement and identified the deceased as Jimmy Daka aged 30 who allegedly fought with his wife before his death.

The suspect on the run was identified as Bana Paul.

“Police in Lusaka received a report of Murder from Violet Daka aged 69 of Lusaka’s old Kanyama Compound that her son, Jimmy Daka, aged 30, also of old Kanyama Compound died after having fought with his wife only known as Bana Paul between 23rd August, 2020 at 22:00 hours and 24th August, 20:20 around 02:00 hours at their house,” Ms Katongo stated.

“The body of the deceased was allegedly dragged from the couple’s house and dumped in another house within the yard which is unoccupied.

The deceased’s wife who is now the suspect is reported to be on the run.

Police visited the scene and the body had a swollen forehead, bleeding from the mouth and nose and bruised body.

The body was taken to mortuary awaiting postmortem.

A 45-year-old man in Kenya has shocked his neighbours on Friday, August 21, when he brought down three of his houses to protest against his daughter’s relationship with a neighbour.

Geoffrey Mushila said he did not approve of his 21-year-old daughter’s relationship with the 28-year-old neighbour because chances are high that the youthful man won’t accord him the respect he deserves as a “father-in-law”.

Mushila, a prominent businessman in the area, said his child, Irene Adema, conceived for Zablon Mandela, prompting Mandela to promise he would marry his daughter.

“I have decided to bring down my houses because I am angered by that man’s decision to elope with my daughter. Where am I relocating to? I do not know,” said Mushila.

“I own several businesses here, which include maize mills, a retail shop and several tuk tuks. I was committed to taking good care of my family. My daughter, however, got pregnant and when I inquired who was responsible for the pregnancy, she said it was a neighbour’s son. I was disappointed.

“The youthful man responsible for her pregnancy said he was ready to marry my daughter.

“The man knows me well. He is an electrician, who did the wiring in my house. He accessed my bedroom, saw my bed, saw my wife’s underwear, he stepped on my bed while doing his job. How do you expect such a person to respect me as his father-in-law?” posed Mushila, who is also a preacher.

“I recently met him walking around in a vest. Surely, a father-in-law should not be seeing his son-in-law dressed in such a manner publicly. He should be displaying his chest and biceps to my daughter, not me. I must relocate so that he and I do not meet casually on a daily basis,” said the middle-aged man.

The parents of Zablon Mandela, Mushila’s daughter’s boyfriend, said they have welcomed Irene Adema to their family, and that they won’t allow their son to separate from the 21-year-old.

“She is a good girl, and we have welcomed her home,” said Henry Mulanda and Hellen Iminza, who are Zablon Mandela’s parents.

Neighbours say Mushila’s relocation from Eninja Village will leave them vulnerable, given they depend on his businesses to go about their daily lives.

Irene Adema is the firstborn among Mushila’s five children, according to local publication K24.

Residents have confronted law enforcement officers at the scene of a police shooting in Kenosha, Wisconsin, that drew a harsh rebuke from the state’s governor and prompted crowds to take to the streets after a video posted on social media appeared to show officers shoot at a man’s back seven times as he leaned into a vehicle.

Kenosha police said one person was left in a serious condition in hospital after a shooting by officers about 5pm on Sunday, as police were responding to a “domestic incident”.

Police did not provide details about what led to the shooting or the officers involved, but said the person was transported to a hospital in Milwaukee for treatment.

In the video posted on social media that appeared to show the shooting from across a street, three officers could be seen shouting and pointing their weapons at the man, who appeared to be black, as he walked around the front of an SUV parked on the street. As the man opened the driver’s side door and leaned inside, one officer appeared to grab his shirt from behind and then fired into the vehicle.

Seven shots could be heard on the video, though it was unclear if more than one officer fired.
