Crime / Nigerian To Hang For Drugs by IleIfe2(m): 6:05pm On Dec 09, 2013

ALOR STAR: A Nigerian student in a private college in Kuala Lumpur was sentenced to death by the High Court yesterday for trafficking in 6.49 kg cannabis last year.

Judicial commissioner Datuk Mohd Zaki Abdul Wahab held that the prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt against Pius Emmanuel David, 33.

Pius was found guilty of committing the offence at an express bus station in Sungai Petani on Jan 25, last year, at 9.15pm.
In his defence, the accused claimed that he was unaware of the drugs being in his possession and blamed his friend, who allegedly took his luggage when the latter sent him to a hotel in Changlun.

However, Zaki, in his judgment, said that the court found the defence as illogical as it was hard to believe the accused did not bother to check the contents of the bag after it was returned to him.

scribe2000:

Do you say this because you hail from a region that opposed Ojukwu and fought Biafra? Remember Britain supported Apartheid and fought Mandela, and opposed all attempts to free him. Today, they join the rest of the world to celebrate him.

The rest of Nigeria should admit that Ojukwu did the right thing. Of course, they should be happy they defeated him, but that does not make Ojukwu's fight evil. Remember, history has it that Ojukwu fought a very JUST war, the JUSTEST WAR, as they put it.

Its impossible to rationally compare the anti apartheid struggle to nigeria's biafra war. igbo men killed leaders from other tribes, other tribes retaliated, then the igbos tried to leave the union with Nigeria's economic lifeline and they got their behind kicked. That's the biafra war in summary.

How does that compare to apartheid. igbos killed Nigerians, held nigerian territory for months, yet Ojukwu was forgiven and an igbo man was made vice President a few years later.

I maintain, it is sacrilegious to compare the anti-arpathied struggle to biafra war or ojukwu to Mandela. its just insane.

the 1966 counter coup is not up to half of what Mandela and south africans went through. yet Nigeria had an all out civil war. Mandela is special, you can't take it away from him. Watch this and learn.

berem: There were so many links to that news on the internet. Doyin Okupe actually said it. Why is Sin.9gerian making so much noise about it? He has created more false news with misleading headlines than any other forumite here. Why should this one be a problem?
There's a particular thread about Ngige which made front page I think a week back or so about someone asking him what he felt about him loosing the election. The sourceless thread made front page just to ridicule Ngige and APC. I don't know if was meant to be a joke! Can't find the link to the thread. angry

scribe2000:

Go check the meaning of rubbish, and tell me what else will qualify your response above. Ojukwu was forced to defend his people, just like Mandela did.
Yes, he ran away, but thatr was only because he would have been executed had he stayed. That is not a cowardly act, otherwise, the saying of "he who fights and runs away, will live to fight another day" would hold no meaning.

Mandela knew the wisdom in that saying, that was he allowed himself to get arrested, tried and sent to jail. Why did he not fight or resist all these? Because he is more useful to the course alive than dead.

Mandela was involved in "terrorist" acts according to the Apartheid regime a the time. He could not have gone to war because he controlled no army like Ojukwu. But you should no that a man who championed such "terror" acts, could easily had gone to war were he to have the resources.

Each of these men used the resources available to them to fight the Courses they beleived in...and that was to liberate their people. Unfortunatley, one succeeded (with lots of international help and outcry), but the other failed (with lots of international conspiracy and hypocrisy against him).

WTF? are you guys serious? How can a sane human, try to put ojukwu on the same stage with Mandela or compare the anti-apartheid struggle with biafran war. WTH?

IGBO-SON:

^^^Please shut up if you have nothing to say!

This thread has to do with Ikemba who was not involved with the planning and execution of the first coup! Ojukwu is indeed the 'Mandela' of our time because like Mandela, he also fought for the freedom of his people; and at the end of the day preached reconciliation and forgiveness as well!

It's sacrilege to compare ojukwu or any ibo man for that matter to an upright man as Mandela. Outrageous. So, shut your stinking putrid filth of a mouth too.
Politics / Re: What Is Happening To NL Politics Section? by IleIfe2(m): 3:31pm On Dec 07, 2013
Sincere 9gerian: I just saw the thread below on the front page.
https://www.nairaland.com/1545638/president-jonathan-mandela-doyin-okupe

As expected, the thread has become a launch pad for haters and tribal warlords to throw all manner of missles, insults and curses on the president.

Some questions for all people of good conscience to ponder:

1. What was the source of the information on that thread. Any credible source? If it was AIT as alleged, any audio or video?

2. Was the information on that thread confirmed before it was moved to the front page?

3. Why is NL always in a haste to move threads that ridicule the president to the front page?

4. Since posting of wrong information is against the rules and attracts a ban on NL, what will happen if the information on that thread turns out to be false? What will happen to the super-mods that moved it to the front page?

On a final note, my advice to Seun is that he should not destroy the integrity of this forum on the alter of politics or tribal solidarity. Just like past elections, 2015 elections will also come and go but NL will remain

look who's complaining. grin grin grin grin grin

Did okupe compare GEJ to Mandela or not? You can raise the issue in your next meeting with doyin and abati. grin grin grin grin grin

SLIDE waxie: Well, i don't like mandela, and i'm not carried away by his hypes.

But it is so clear that while the story of biafrans were related to these OP by his fathers, they were so ashamed to tell him the truth that OJUKWU actually left them for dead on the war front and ran off in some lady's attire!

grin grin grin

But if u say he is ur hero in biafra, well, who doesn't knw that the name 'ibo' is synonymous to 'substandard'?

A lot of "Nigerians" are real lunatics. How dare you compare ojukwu to Mandela or the struggle of negro South Africans to that of biafra? Are you people mad?

You lived in a young country with a promising democracy and your youths wake up one morning after tipping off your own leaders to run, killed maimed and humiliated all the leaders they could get from other tribes in the name of fighting corruption.

Seriously, are you people mad?

This is a recycled news sponsored by those who want to make justification for a minister's acquisition of N255million cars. Those spreading this 'unsubstantiated allegation' of Fashola acquisition of two bulletproof vehicles for N600million are yet to produce proof(transaction documents-sales invoices, delivery notes and attestation documents) to support their claims. Abi SR no produce documents to back up the allegations against Ms. Oduah? @OP, Please 'Do the Needful' by supplying us with proof!

The circumstances might be different but Obj wanted a 3rd(4th) term, so dem no dey the same level. Mandela created an atmosphere that allowed him retire peacefully, he's a legend. Olusegun Obasanjo is still the greatest leader Nigeria has ever had though, IMO.

Islam for Muslims / Re: A Muslim's View Of The Ban On Alcohol In Kano State by IleIfe2(m): 9:06pm On Dec 04, 2013
BetaThings:

Really?
Please can you quote where you did this type of analysis when Muslims were (and still are) precluded from building a mosque in Rivers State University while the authorities of same University built several churches for Christians
They have even ignored court judgment
Sorry, Christianity CANNOT be an intolerant religion! Only Islam is

The world moves in circles man. There was a time in this country where we had two masjids in Aso-villa with zero chapels. Islam is the most intolerant religion in the world no doubt. So, you'll find cases of discrimination anywhere you have muslim majority. This happens everywhere in the world once muslim outnumber others. so ...............

But Christians mounted a sustained campaign against Islamic Banking in this "free" country!
I can even be an unwitting victim of the reckless driving by an inebriated motorist.
So outside religion, some people in free countries frown at alcohol because it can fuel violence or accidents
I am scratching my head how Islamic Bank to be funded by private money (just like GT, First, Zenith and other banks) will affect anyone to justify the opposition by Christians
I am sorry, I missed the memo, Christianity CANNOT be an intolerant religion

Sanusi wanted to use non-halal (CBN) money to finance the project before the public outcry and change of plan. An islamic bank can't sustain it self, thats why they need governments to secretly bail them out, year-in-year-out, except the bank is fake and not entirely shariah compliant. like everything islamic, islamic finance is discriminatory.

Here we go. Christians have been fighting against Hijab for ever. What harm it does to them, I cannot fathom
They cane Muslim pupils in PUBLIC schools. When a newspaper reported that Lagos state had banned the Hijab, Christians were agog online
Sorry, I forgot that Christianity CANNOT be an intolerant religion

I have not seen Muslims take a position on a matter that will make Christians commit any sin. None
Christians want Muslims to deal in Riba (a sin) by using conventional banks
Christians want Muslims ladies to expose part of their bodies that Allah require them to cover (a sin)
The FG spending public money put up a national christmas tree in Abuja and ensured members of diplomatic corps were present
This army that would have been screaming against Hijab ban did you seen them? - please can you show me Muslims protesting?
But Islam is intolerant!

Let me ask: what would have been the reaction of CAN if it were a national Eid-el-Mawlid tree?

Hijab is a religious obligation and is compulsory everytime a Muslim lady is outdoors (it is not required at home)
Just like normal societies don't ask people to go out in the nude and take their baths at home with their clothes on
Banning alcohol is not an attack on any religion - it is not a religious duty - we should not mix dissimilar issues

BTW If people want to get drunk, they should be free to provided they don't run me over
However even Guinness recommends people start drinking as from 6pm

As for VAT, I support isolating VAT income from non-halal sources
Allah is sufficient for those who place their trust in him. Muslims should not eat from haram sources

We all know the hijab is a show of power, a sign of conquered territory, it has nothing to do salvation or holiness. Forget the symbolic charades and violence, islam will become what the "free" world is, a huge business enterprise with the islamic finance, halal restaurants/food, islamic schools, islamic fashion, etc everything and anything, just label it islamic with the help of a few mullahs or sheiks, you are in business.

So, pack well with your patronising religious palaver.

Definition of Cornies:

Proof:
