At Goldman Sachs & Co, Ms. Clarke led mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance transactions for Fortune 500 companies in the U.S. and in Europe. The program was developed in cooperation with the Aspen Institute......................................

Ms. Clarke lived in South Africa from 1995-2000, during which time she taught corporate finance in the MBA program at Wits Business School and served on the investment committee of a private equity fund that invested in the Southern Africa region.

afam4eva: The truth is that if i want to do a documentary on the best cities in the world, i will go to New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago, Houston, Beijing, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Rio, Paris, London, Moscow, Canberra, Jo'Burg, Barcelona, Madrid, Munich, Berlin and tens of other cities before even considering Lagos or any Nigerian city. But if i want to do a documentary on poverty, common sense only suggests that i come to Africa because poverty is a brand here. I'm i lying?
How did the conversation get here "best cities in the world". The topic says 'growing beauty of Lagos', Guy, i hail you! Kwenu!! One man wolf pack...born hater. grin grin grin

PapaBrowne: How much do tithes and offerings contribute to a church really. Its very meagre. Pastor Ayo has just one church no branches per say and its based in Warri. It has maybe like maximum of 20,000 members. Half that population would be children. Another half would be jobless stay at home moms with no salary whatsoever. Add that to the numerous graduates without jobs. You might end up with 5000 tithe paying members.

In a country with GDP of $2500 per annum, a 10% tithe would equate to $250. Multiply that by 5,000 tithe paying members and you end up with a maximum of $1.25 Million in a year. Now can this figure you a freaking jet. Na it would take you at least 10 years of doing nothing else to buy a jet.

Truth is these guys get more money from books, gifts and speaking engagements than they will ever get from church offerings and tithes. I have seen small time pastors who recieve brand new car gifts from members. My friends father is a pastor of a 1000 member church. One of his members built him a house. So I dont see why its impossible for church members to buy a jet for their leader.

I believe though that the church is no doing enough in terms of charity. Much of what we have as hospitals and schools are remnants from the missionaries of yesteryear. If today's church does the same, the story would be absolutely different.
Where did you get your stats from? You just come up with numbers from nowhere.

PoliticsRe: Obafemi Awolowo: When Will They Let The Name Go by IleIfe2(m):
Most of Awolowo's achievements were evident in Ibadan which was the capital of the western region but when you see that city today, you begin to wonder if it's something to be proud of.
Ibadan is like any other city where the old school meets the extremely modern. Though the government and the people need to be encouraged to do more.

Now i ask, why the fixation on the name Obafemi Awolowo?
'Until you break Usain Bolts record, you have nothing on him'. i wonder how many first there would be if that man ruled longer than he did and i don't think there are lots of buildings around that makes people proud and gives them a sense of ownership like the things Awolowo did in the western region. 'Awolowo is remembered for building Liberty Stadium in Ibadan, the first of its kind in Africa; WNTV, the first television station in Africa, the first skyscraper in tropical Africa: The Cocoa House (Still the tallest in Ibadan) and running a widely-respected civil service in the Western Region. He is also credited with coining the name “naira” for Nigeria’s currency (formerly known as the Nigerian Pound)'.

Awolowo's name will always stimulate passion and excitement for those who know how to use it. BTW ask the Americans, why the Fixation on Lincoln or Washington?

ERrr.......So, Afam...... Thank you very much for your concern.
