Religion / Why Not Sex Outside Of Marriage? by iloriolushola(m): 10:19am On Mar 15, 2015 |
“Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.” (1 Corinthians 6:18; NIV) I’ve always been fascinated by the tigers at the zoo. I can remember one zoo in particular (Como Park, Saint Paul, Minnesota) where you could look down upon the tigers through an upper glass area. (And they’re just big kitty cats after all? They couldn’t hurt a fly?) Sometimes the tigers would sleep up high right against the glass. You could literally reach out and touch them (without the protection). Listen: Having sex outside of marriage is like getting down with the tigers in their cage. (Who is this for?) You get ripped apart (shredded) in your soul when you “sleep around.” Oh, you may “feel good” for a tiny bit all the while pieces of yourself are literally left here and there and there and here with this person and that ~ all strewn about. And you become a shadow. And your ability to trust is lost. And your potential for true (godly) intimacy with a husband or wife in a marriage later is forever frayed. But God can redeem… Step 1: Completely give yourself to Jesus Christ (see “How to Be Born Again” below). Step 2: Stop sinning. (Btw, Jesus helps you to stop.) www.aheartforgod.org/2012/07/06/why-not-sex-outside-of-marriage/ 2 Likes

Politics / Obas Don’t Campaign For Politicians, Awujale Tells Jonathan by iloriolushola(m): 3:20pm On Mar 14, 2015 |
The Awujale and paramount ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, has told President Goodluck Jonathan, that it is not proper in Ijebuland or Yorubaland for an Oba to canvass for votes for any candidates seeking elective posts. Rather, monarchs in Yorubaland only encourage their subjects to make their informed choices. The monarch said this when President Goodluck Jonathan paid a private visit to him in his palace in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State. President Jonathan, who arrived the palace around 11.15am in a convoy, was accompanied by the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Adamu Mu’azu; a former governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel; Governors of Bayelsa and Ondo states, Seriake Dickson and Olusegun Mimiko respectively, among others. The royal father said any Oba canvassing for votes for any political party’s candidate would be courting trouble. He said rather than engaging monarchs for campaign, each candidate must go out and sell his or manifesto to the electorate. He said, “In Ijebu here, it is not possible for any Oba, not even only in Ijebu, in Yorubaland, to go out and say vote for this, vote for that; that person is looking for trouble. “But give them the opportunity to present their programmes so that people can make up their minds on what to do. I think this is a very sound democratic principle and that is what I have decided to do, to give you the opportunity of meeting with the people.” Oba Adetona noted that it was when the candidate would have presented the manifesto that the voters would decide whether or not to vote for him or her. He said, “One, they see you as a person. Whether to engage with you or not to listen to you and see if there are areas where we can meet is a question for individual reason. As a result, everybody congregating belong to different groups. They are members of the PDP, the All Progressives Congress, All Progressives Grand Alliance. They belong to various interests, and when they come, they get to the gate, they shed their togas. “The PDP will remove their PDP, the APC will remove their own. They will remove their own. They are going to the palace to meet their ruler, their paramount ruler; to receive that important august visitor who is coming to their land and give him all honour that is entitled to him.” He, however, advised the electorates to vote for those that had the fear of God and integrity and not those who would mortgage their future, after offering them gifts. He said, “Each time I have cause to talk to our people, I have always told them, in the churches and mosques that when you’re going to vote, make sure you back your sons and daughters who will give something back to you; not the ‘Ojelus’ (looters). “Those who will be honest with you, who know the way of God; those are the people you should vote for; not those who will give you two, three spoons and mortgage your future. It is not right.” The monarch, who prayed to God to guide the country right, acknowledged that he had never seen any election that was full of tension in the last 55 years like the current one coming up in less than two weeks. President Jonathan had earlier in his speech highlighted his achievements to the monarch, which he said, cut across party, ethnic and religious lines in the last four years. He said, “In the road infrastructure, we have tried. Railway is back, we are trying to improve our terminal buildings and security environment in our airports. “The Health sector, we have tried both in the tertiary level, or what we call health tourism. Some of our hospitals are now open for kidney transplant and at the primary level we are able to eradicate guinea worm and we are on the way of eradicating polio completely from this country.” President Jonathan explained that his administration’s focal activities when re-elected would be the implementation of the report of the National Confab as well as facilitate the construction of four deep sea port projects which include the Olokola in Ijebuland, that of Badagry, Akwa Ibom and the Age in Bayelsa State. Speaking earlier on behalf of Ijebu Traditional Council, the Dagburewe of Idowa, Oba Yinusa Adekoya, had drawn the attention of the President to the non-appointment of indigenes of Ijebuland to any prominent position at the federal level. President Jonathan who promised to correct this if re-elected, described Ijebuland “as a great land and there’s no government that will neglect the people of Ijebuland, I have to take that very very seriously.” www.punchng.com/news/obas-dont-campaign-for-politicians-awujale-tells-jonathan/ |

Politics / Not In Nigeria!!! Maldives Ex-president Sentenced To 13 Years In Jail by iloriolushola(m): 8:04am On Mar 14, 2015 |
Former Maldives, President Mohamed Nasheed has been convicted of a terrorism charge by a criminal court and sentenced to 13 years in prison, reports Aljazeera . The three-judge bench on Friday unanimously found Nasheed guilty of ordering the arrest of a chief judge in January 2012 when he was leader of the Indian Ocean island nation. “Nasheed is found guilty of arresting and illegally detaining judge Abdulla Mohamed,” judge Abdulla Didi told the court in a verdict just before midnight. Nasheed was then taken to Dhoonidhoo prison, near the capital Male. Nasheed has denied ordering the arrest. His supporters say the charges are aimed at eliminating him as a challenger against incumbent President Yameen Abdul Gayoom in the 2018 presidential election. A statement released by his office on Friday called the trial “blatantly politicised”. “President Nasheed was repeatedly denied legal representation, denied the right to appeal, his defence witnesses were prevented from taking the stand, and prosecution witnesses were routinely coached by the judges and the police,” it said. At court, the former president called on Maldivians to “confront the dictatorial power of this regime”. “The Maldivian judiciary is full of corruption and disgrace. Judges are routinely accepting the vile money of bribery,” said Nasheed. “These judges have no fear of the day of judgment, and no shame in this world. The consequence of their actions is injustice to the public, and the thwarting of this country’s development.” Nasheed’s Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) said the verdict dealt a blow to the young democracy seven years after it embraced multi-party elections following three decades of rule by former strongman Maumoon Abdul Gayoom. “Democracy jailed for 13 years on March 13, 2015,” declared MDP spokeswoman Shauna Aminath. “Nothing good will come out of this. It’s a sad, sad, sad day for the Maldives,” she added. The ruling came four days after Nasheed’s lawyers quit in protest against what they called a biased trial aimed at destroying his political career. Nasheed, the country’s first democratically elected leader, was originally cleared of the charge last month but a few days later the prosecutor general had him re- charged and arrested under tough anti-terror laws. Before the brief hearing in February in which the court denied him bail, police forcibly dragged Nasheed into court, refusing him to speak to journalists and ignoring his plea to be allowed to walk in himself. newswirengr.com/2015/03/14/not-in-nigeria-maldives-ex-president-sentenced-to-13-years-in-jail/?utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitterfeed |
Crime / Man Bags 3 Weeks Imprisonment For Stealing Generator by iloriolushola(m): 11:43am On Mar 12, 2015 |
Abuja – An Abuja Senior Magistrates’ Court in Wuse Zone 2 on Thursday sentenced a man, Abdullahi Mohammed of Mabushi, Abuja, to three weeks in prison for stealing a generator valued at N120, 000. Mohammed was accused of conniving with one Tunde, now at large to commit the offence. The Senior Magistrate, Mr Aliyu Shafa, convicted Mohammed as he admitted committing the offence. “The convict is hereby sentenced to three weeks in prison without any option of fine. “This is to serve as a lesson to you and others like you, who think that stealing must be a means to make a living,” Shafa said. Earlier, the prosecutor, Cpl Monday Akor, told the court that on March 5, one Yusuf Brima of Bwari Area Council Abuja came to Maitama to report the matter. He said that the convict and one Tunde, now at large, connived and stole one 5.5kv Sumec Fireman generator, valued at N120, 000, from the complainant’s shop. Akor said the shop was located near Emab Plaza Wuse 2, Abuja, and that the generator was recovered from one Mustapha Moh’d who the convict asked to sell it. He said the offences contravened the provisions of sections 79 and 288 of the Penal Code Law. www.vanguardngr.com/2015/03/man-bags-3-weeks-imprisonment-for-stealing-generator/?utm_source=&utm_medium=twitter |
Nairaland / General / Kogi State Workers To Get Half Salaries. by iloriolushola(m): 11:35am On Mar 12, 2015 |
The current economic difficulties facing the country has continued to take its toll on state governments as the Kogi State government has said that only six of its 21 local government councils can pay 50/60 per cent of workers salaries. The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Abubakar Ainoko, said this in Lokoja. He blamed the situation on the shortfall of N416m in the allocation to the councils from the Federation Account for February. Ainoko listed councils involved as Lokoja, Okene, Ofu, Ibaji, Adavi and Okehi. “The remaining workers in 15 local government councils will receive between 30 per cent and 40 per cent salaries in February. Workers receiving 50/80 per cent since Oct. 2014 when the ministry took over the payment of local government workers’ salaries will have to make do with the situation’’, he added. He called on the workers’ to be understanding and not to allow the situation to demoralise them. He expressed the hope that the situation would change for better soon. He also appealed to the leadership of the local government councils to pay more attention to internally generated revenue. President of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Mr Tom Abutu, described the development as sad. He contended that the more than 25,000 local government workers in the state would be going into the coming general elections on empty stomachs. He wondered why local government workers in the state were the only ones that had been on percentage salaries for more than two years. newswirengr.com/2015/03/12/kogi-state-workers-to-get-half-salaries-as-economic-realities-bite-on-state-allocations/?utm_source=&utm_medium=twitter |
Politics / I’m A Woman Of Peace, I Hate Violence – Patience Jonathan by iloriolushola(m): 10:06pm On Mar 10, 2015 |
First Lady of Nigeria, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, has told the All Progressives Congress presidential campaign organisation, APCPCO, that “she is a woman of peace that can never be identified with electoral violence.” She added there was no way somebody like her who occupies the office of the President of the African First Ladies Mission would be promoting violence under any form. Mrs. Jonathan who spoke with a national daily (Punch) on Monday through her media aide, Ayo Adewuyi, was reacting to the decision of the APC to report her to the International Criminal Court for allegedly asking supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to stone anyone canvassing for change, the APC slogan, during a campaign rally in Calabar, Cross River State. “The only thing we can say from here is that Dame Patience Jonathan is a woman of peace that can never in any way be identified with violence before, during and after elections. “You do not expect somebody who is the President of African First Ladies to be promoting violence,” Adewuyi said. On whether the President’s wife would be ready to answer any inquiry from the ICC on the matter, Adewuyi said, “They are just notifying. The case is not yet in ICC. They are entitled to their opinions and actions. We are not going to be dragged into any argument with them.” www.today.ng/news/im-a-woman-of-peace-i-hate-violence-patience-jonathan-reacts-to-apcs-decision-to-drag-her-before-icc/ |

Police released a 911 call from a man who called to report that his wife stole his cocaine. 39-year-old Robert Daniel Collins of Ohio, was arrested after he called police on his wife. Police in Alliance, said that Collins called on Wednesday night, to report the theft of cocaine. He told officers that his wife became angry with a purchase he made earlier in the day, and the two got into an argument. He then confessed that he bought cocaine and his wife took it away from him. He gave the dispatcher his name. However, when the woman asked for the name of his wife, Collins suddenly became apprehensive and demanded to know why she wanted his wife’s name. The 911 dispatcher explained that he had called 911 and that she needed some information from him. That is when Collins hung up the phone. When officers arrived at the residence, Collins, who apparently had a change of heart and refused to tell police why he called 911, was uncooperative. Police said that Collins, had a pipe used for smoking marijuana in his possession. He was arrested and charged with misuse of 911 and drug paraphernalia. He also had an active arrest warrant in connection with an earlier criminal case. www.radar.ng/oddity/man-calls-police-to-tell-them-his-wife-stole-his-cocaine-gets-arrested-instead/ |
Education / ‘polytechnics Breedingground For Cultists’ by iloriolushola(m): 8:48am On Mar 10, 2015 |
President, Centre for Ethics and Self Value Orientation, Prince Salih Musa Yakubu, said yesterday that many polytechnics in the country have become breeding grounds for cultists. He, however, added that some of the institutions had risen up to the occasion by insisting on discipline. Speaking at the presentation of Ambassador of Ethics and Conscience award to the Rector of Kwara State Polytechnic, Alhaji Mas’ud Elelu and Ethically Responsible Award to the Registrar, Pastor Moses Salami, Yakubu said, “We found out that many polytechnics that are supposed to be breeding grounds for future leaders and development have turned into breeding grounds for cultists. But with the little time this rector assumed leadership, he has reduced cult activities to the barest minimum. We salute your effort, doggedness and determination to bring back the lost glory of the polytechnic in Nigeria”. He said the criteria for the award included office attendance, public accessibility, support for the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), initiative against internal corruption, quality control and staff welfare and discipline. Others, he said are institutional policy performance, time management culture, commitment to youth/women empowerment and development and budget/project performance and staff/students discipline. The rector said the award was in recognition of the polytechnic’s achievements, saying, “nothing is as good as people recognising good performance of public servant during and after service.” He said the administration would keep improving on its performance in order to move the polytechnic to the next level. dailytrust.com.ng/daily/news/48997-polytechnics-breeding-ground-for-cultists |

Crime / ‘My Wife Committed Suicide Because I Caught Her Cheating' - Suspect by iloriolushola(m): 9:55pm On Mar 09, 2015 |
A 33-year-old man, who is currently being investigated by operatives of the homicide unit of Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Yaba, has denied killing his wife. “My wife took poison after a misunderstanding over her infidelity,” he said. It was gathered that the couple, who had been married for over seven years, had three children. The 27-year-old Togolese reportedly committed suicide after her husband, Seun Alabi, confronted her over allegations of extra-marital affairs. Alabi, a tiler, had used his wife, Bose’s phone to call a colleague before leaving for work. Afterwards, Bose called the same number, thinking it was her lover’s number, and requested that they met at her friend’s place. Surprised by the request, the husband’s colleague (names withheld) told her that she had mistaken him for someone else. She apologized and ended the call. However, trouble started when Seun’s colleague told him about the call. When he returned from work and confronted his wife, she initially denied the allegations but later admitted to engaging in extra-marital affair. According to Seun, “I threatened to report her to her family members, so she confessed and pleaded for forgiveness. I was surprised and could not imagine that she could cheat on me after seven years of marriage. “I was angry and slept on the three-seater. It was her legs that were hitting me, that woke me from sleep and I saw her in severe pains. I then saw an empty bottle of sniper insecticide on the table. “I raised alarm and neighbours rushed inside to help. One of them brought palm oil, which I gave to her. But when we realized that it was more than we can handle, we rushed her to the hospital. On our way to Ogba General Hospital, she died.” A relative of the deceased (names with held) accused the suspect of having a hand in the death of the victim, adding that until the demise of Bose, Seun had not paid her dowry, despite living together for years and bearing him children. Seun said: “I could not pay my wife’s bride price because my wife’s family asked for about a million naira, which I could not raise.” www.vanguardngr.com/2015/03/my-wife-committed-suicide-because-i-caught-her-cheating/ 1 Like |
Religion / 10 Mistakes People Make With The Holy Spirit by iloriolushola(m): 4:08pm On Mar 07, 2015 |
10 Mistakes People Make with the Holy Spirit (plus 1 bonus): 1. Think He is a ghost like the King James Version of the Bible translates it (no, the Holy “Ghost” doesn’t frighten or spook people who are still alive nor walk the halls at night noisily clanging chains and shrieking at the top of his lungs, neither does He haunt houses and scare young children). 2. Don’t realize that He is a part of a Triune Godhead / Trinity with coequal status with the other Two, Father and Son (three Persons in one God). ( Genesis 1:26a ; 2 Corinthians 3:17 ) 3. Are ignorant of the fact that He (the Holy Spirit) is a Person and not an impersonal “force” like in the movie, Star Wars (the Holy Spirit isn’t flesh and blood, of course, but has a personality ~ Jesus uses 7 personal pronouns in John 16:13 alone, the New American Standard translation, to refer to the Holy Spirit and His personal characteristics). 4. Forget that the Holy Spirit is the one and only source of power for the Church to reach lost souls (human ingenuity or charisma accomplishes nothing). ( Acts 1:8 ; 2:1-4 , 14, 41; Zechariah 4:6 ) 5. Order Him around when He is supposed to be the One ordering their lives. 6. Overlook that it is the Holy Spirit that causes a person to be freed from their sins / born again. ( John 3:6 , 20:22 ; Titus 3:5 ; 1 Corinthians 12:3b ; Acts 2:38 ) 7. Forget that it was by the Holy Spirit that the prophets of old spoke. ( Acts 1:16 ; 1 Peter 1:10-11 ; 2 Peter 1:20-21 ) 8. Forget that it was by the Holy Spirit that the Scripture came into being (thus, there are no errors in the Bible). ( 2 Peter 1:20-21 ) 9. Miss the Holy Spirit’s involvement in the creation of all things and in the securing of man’s redemption (He played a part in raising Jesus from the dead). ( Genesis 1:1-2 ; Romans 8:11 ) 10. Are resisting the Holy Spirit and in danger of missing Heaven because of it (repent and ask God for forgiveness). ( Acts 7:51 ; Romans 10:9 ; John 3:16 ) BONUS Equate His workings (in particular, in the distribution and operation of spiritual gifts in the Church) as confusion. Nairaland / General / Court Orders T.B Joshua To Appear Before Coroner by iloriolushola(m): 1:12pm On Mar 06, 2015 |
The Lagos State High Court presided over by Justice Lateefa Okunnu has ruled that the Coroner inquest into the cause of the collapsed six-storey building of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, SCOAN, has the legal right to issue witness summon on T.B Joshua, head of the church to testify on the matter. The court also decided on Friday, March 6, 2015 that the Coroner as a court cannot be sued. Prophet Joshua had approached the court to stop the Coroner from inviting him to bear witness in the matter; arguing that the Coroner was going beyond its legal limit and exercising his personal bias on the matter. But Justice Okunnu held that the there is no extent the Coroner cannot go to obtain information necessary to unravel the cause of the collapse that claimed about 116 lives last year. She maintained that the Coroner who doubles as a Magistrate has the legal power to summon and even issue warrant of arrest against anyone involved in a case before it. The implication of the ruling is that Joshua will have to appear before the coroner, while the inquest continues or he will be “flouting the law,” Okunnu said. Reacting after the judgment, Akinjide Bakare, Counsel to the Lagos State government expressed believe that Joshua will obey the court order because “the person in question is a man of God, and God is a God of justice.” There are legal sanctions that could be exercised against Joshua including warrant of arrest if he flouts the court judgment. https://www.tell.ng/court-orders-t-b-joshua-to-appear-before-coroner/ |

Politics / APC Not Behind Fuel Scarcity Innigeria – PPPRA by iloriolushola(m): 11:34pm On Mar 04, 2015 |
The Executive Secretary of Petroleum Product Pricing and Regulatory Authority, PPPRA, Senator Farouk Ahmed, has stated that the All progressives Congress is not the brain behind the ongoing fuel scarcity across the nation. Ahmed attributed the development to the two rounds of devaluation carried out by the Central Bank of Nigeria between November last year and February 2015. The ruling Peoples Democratic party had accused the opposition party of sponsoring the ongoing fuel crisis in the country. But speaking when he appeared before the Senator Magnus Abe-led Committee on Petroleum (Downstream) to defend their 2015 budget, Ahmed noted that the APC has no hand in the ongoing situation as earlier claimed by the PDP. Ahmed said PPPRA had to seek the advice of the apex bank before it could eventually draw up a new template. Ahmed said, “The recent events have to do with delay in the arrival of cargoes. Non-arrival of cargoes made it difficult for petroleum motor spirit to be delivered. What actually complicated it was the devaluation of naira – two times. “The first one that took place on November 28 devalued Naira from N155 to N168 to $1. The second one that took place on February 18 brought the exchange rate to N199 to $1 – these two developments brought a lot of confusion into the oil sector. “Marketers were not sure of the actual delivery cost. We had to draw a new template as advised by the CBN. The delay we have now is caused by the November devaluation. But the reality is that the policy is clear now. “The Minister of Finance, PPPRA and other agencies are working closely to ensure that outstanding bills are paid. And that one had been done now. “Yesterday, (Monday) we got an approval from the Budget Office for payment of all outstanding bills. We have adjusted the template now. We have to put the exchange rate at the interbank rate. Now, we have a direction”. expressng.com/2015/03/apc-not-behind-fuel-scarcity-nigeria-pppra/ |
