BE ENCOURAGED! Wonderful people. It has really been a while since I last commented on this forum. Life in Canada is really beautiful but we can be very busy too. I just want to encourage everyone to keep pushing until you achieve this dream. Yes you can! For me it has been a fulfilling experience moving here with my family the past three years. This forum has almost all the information you need. Just be determined to read, get the right information, keep up the hope, keep pushing legitimately and legally, no shady deals. Believe you can and you will. It may take some time but never be discouraged or downcast, you will never be disappointed. Anytime you feel like giving up, think about the beautiful life that is awaiting you in Canada and encourage yourself, that you will make it and get there. Others have done it, you too will! Be open to people's opinions, even if you have to disagree do it respectfully. You can always reach out to me and others for information. I will try my best to respond. Wishing you all the best. See you soon in Canada, the land of endless possibilities! 26 Likes |

It was approved in two months, after I submitted her application. I applied for open work permit for my spouse and visitor visa for my child. My family stated lived with me here in Canada while I was studying I am already done with my studies for a long time now. I got my 3 year post graduation work permit and my wife also got another open work permit for 3yrs. We both have job offers. It only took about 3months after my studies before I got a professional job. So we are already living in Canada. We have provincial nomination for Permanent residency and we looking forward to Citizenship in the nearest future. Hope this helps. I wish you guys all the best! You can always ask me your questions. Canada is definitely worth it. Let me justI drop my pen peacefully ✍ ... for now while enjoying the beautiful view of summer from my office... Praying for everyone, it will surely end in praise! Good day, When I applied for my spouse, I applied after I received my stamped passport back from IRCC . And I applied by creating a new profile for my spouse in my spouse's name with all her details. Then I applied for my child(ren) through my spouse's account. I wrote the statement of purpose in the form of a letter of sponsorship and authorization for my spouse to apply to come to Canada. Giving reasons why she needs to come and join in Canada while I was studying. Then I attached proof of funds, her credentials, other relevant documents, etc. I was the one doing the application, but the profile was hers, there was no direct connection between my profile and her profile. I did all if these before I left Nigeria, once my study visa was approved While it was still being processed, when I arrived Canada, I quickly attached to her profile my study permit, student enrollment letter, student ID, tuition fee payments, social insurance number document, and all other relevant documents I received in Canada, by submitting a web form. Hope this helps. Wish you the best. PS: I am really enjoying living in Canada, after I completed my MSC. Citizenship is the goal now. MyRace: 21 Likes 3 Shares |

Hi. I am just seeing your message now. I have not been on this platform for a while. Very busy life in Canada. Ok. Yes you can apply for SOWP now if you want. I did same during my time. After my visa was approved, once I received my stamped passport back from IRCC, before I left Nigeria I applied for my wife (SOWP) and child (Visitor visa). When I arrived Canada, obtained my study permit, my enrolment verification letter from my university and other relevant documents, I uploaded them to my wife's application to show that I am already in Canada studying. Their visas were approved in two month's time after we submitted the application. And they came to join me when they were ready. I have seen a case where someone applied immediately for their spouse before leaving Nigeria and fortunately the spouse visa approved and they all traveled together to Canada at the same time, because the resumption date was still far. But just like it has been said, it depends on who is the visa officer is. But even if you have to wait and arrive Canada first before applying, don't waste time, apply immediately you arrive Canada, or even apply before you leave Nigeria, as long as you have the right documents and the proof of funds. I am saying this based on my personal experience and living in Canada. Thanks folla: 1 Like |

Hi guys Been a while here. Is there any restriction for student visa based on age if one is going for an undergraduate program? Someone said there is a new rule from the Canadian Embassy for Nigerians and Africans. That if you are more than 18 and apply for study visa that the application will be rejected if you are going for an undergraduate program or diploma, especially if you already had an undergraduate degree before. Can anyone confirm this? I doubt it though |

The fact is, the study permit issued at the port of entry usually has your DLI written on it. So if you need to change DLI after you have received your study permit, then you need to apply for any study permit for the new DLI. This may not necessarily affect your study visa. Note there is a difference between study visa and study permit. marcelonwa: 3 Likes |

I will not like to argue about your point. But the good thing is, just like you said, police certificate is not even compulsory for study visa application. olalekan9320: 1 Like |

If you can get a digital photo great! But interestingly, I did not really use a digital photo in my application. I had a hard copy passport photo that was not too old. I used my phone camera to capture the passport photo, cropped it well and uploaded it as my digital photo and there was no issue in approving my study visa. But, yes a fresh digital photo is a better thing to do Frankrobbn1: 1 Like 1 Share |

FOR YOUR INFORMATION GUYS, read this. This is from my personal experience here in Canada while submitting my other IRCC applications and attaching Nigeria police Certificate. Even though that's what the Nigeria Police Certificate says on it, IRCC still recognizes the police Certificate as valid for one year. SO if you obtain and submit Nigeria police cerificate today, by IRCC standard, it is considered valid for one year, even though the Nigeria police Certificate reads valid for 3 months on it. I am speaking from my personal experience of using Nigeria police Certificate here in Canada for other of my IRCC applications(PR provincial nomination and post graduate work permit) Hope this helps Lekiboboe: 1 Like |

For cheap schools, Google search can help. Just search Google. The information about the process can be found here. But you must be willing to take your time to read through the pages. You can learn from other people's story. Depending on the school you are applying to, IELTS is not compulsory, since Nigeria is an English speaking country. What you need in place of IELTS is an official letter from your university stating that Nigeria's official language is English, studied and were taught your courses in English. The letter should be written on the official letter headed paper. Preferably sent from the office of the Registrar. You need to write a convincing statement of purpose as to why you want to study the course. There are lots of information written on this platform, just take your time and read through. All the best. Good day everyone and congrats to all who recently got approvals. I received helpful information from here and other platforms when I was applying for my study visa. So I am willing to pay it forward and help. Although in my previous comments, I have always said, I won't be able to respond to private messages. Well, now I changed my mind. You can send me private messages if neccesary and I will try to respond. SO, If you sent me a private message before and didn't get a reply, you can now send it again and I will try to reply. Also I believe we have a lot of people here on this platform that can answer your questions. I wish you all a success in your Canadian dreams and pursuit. I was once a Canadian MSC student. BUT NOW, I am writing from my beautiful home in Canada ILoveDLord: 20 Likes 1 Share |

And, Yes the form A, too works. I once used it with First Bank. First Bank should tell you what information they need from the school, so you can provide them. ILoveDLord: |

Western Union Global Pay may be the cheaper. It takes about 3 business days to process. You will need to fill the application on their site and download the payment invoice. You then take it to your bank with evidence of admission, international passport, your first degree/diploma. The bank will direct you on what to do. Credit Card/ Debit Card is faster., BUt there is service charge for credit cards. It is easier if you have someone in Canada do the payment on your behalf. If you have someone in Canada, they can even do it through internet/online banking without service charge. Depending on who you are dealing with, the exchange rate and trustworthiness are the concerns. You can also try using your GTB or other bank master/visa debit card. It may work. The CIBC option, I think is if you have a Canadian Bank account with CIBC.( CIBC is a Canadian Bank). Finally it is up to you to decide. All the best Chinatown2: 2 Likes 2 Shares |

Hi. It depends on the employer and their work schedule available for you. For instance, you may sometimes only work 3 days in a week so for that week, you will have an average of 6 hours per day for each of the three days. The schedule may not be fixed. Sometimes you may work 6 days in a week, 3hrs on one day, another 5 hours, 6 hours , even 2 hours and then 3 hours. At the end of the week, you get a maximum of 20 hours. Some weeks you may not even work up to 20 hours, depending on the demand or what is available. Some weeks you might just work a total of 10hours. Also because the employers know that you are a student, they give you flexibility. So at the beginning of securing the job or even during the interview, they ask you to tell them what days and times you are available to work. This is from personal experience when I was still studying and working part time here in Canada. I believe others who are studying or studied would agree that that is how it is generally. Hope this helps lentomac: 3 Likes 2 Shares |

It was a two year MSc program. But I finished (1yr 4months) earlier by taking more courses each semester. You can actually finish a two year program in one year. But for the sake of getting the 3-year post-graduate work permit, it is advisable to do at least 1 year 4months(i.e at least 4 semesters) ramobiojo: 2 Likes |

Immediately my study visa was approved, my family applied for their on visas. My wife applied for an open work permit. If your husband is not planning to stay, he can apply for a visitor visa. For children, you will apply for visitor visa. When my family applied, I attached a letter, stating my consent and approval for them to come join me. I gave reasons that my family being with me will help me focus on my studies(as advised by the university), also that our family is still young and we all needed one another for emotional support. We still have other members of our extended family in Nigeria, and that's one of the reasons we may come back home after my studies, along side other reasons. I also showed proof funds that can take care of the family as well my tuition. Hope this helps TeeMade: 2 Likes |

I applied alone. Once my study visa was approved before I left Nigeria, my family applied to come and join me. Theirs was approved two months later, and this was after I had arrived Canada. I am not so sure about family joining you for one year post graduate diploma. It is up to the visa officer to decide. If it is a one year program, you won't get a 3 year post graduation work permit. They may give you a one year post graduation work permit. The conditions for post graduate work permit are on the IRCC website OCHULORC: 4 Likes 1 Share |

Yes, once you are in Canada, you can get a job with a college certificate. You will always need to show proof that you can pay for the tuition fee any time you want to school. So yes, you will need to show proof of fund if you want to go for master's after PGD Yes, you can visit Nigeria during semester breaks as long as your visa is valid. Information about PR is available on the IRCC website and it depends on the immigration programme you are applying for express entry, provincial nomination, etc Otatom: |

Lol..funny you. I'll simply say this, it is easier when you are in Canada. It depends on the province. But don't even worry about it ,there are numerous jobs and immigration programs that you can use once you are here Blavkmaann: 1 Like |

WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT Good day wonderful people, I shared my story in part 15 of this thread. This is just to encourage everyone not to give up on this dream it is possible as long as you keep trying, working with the right information, expecting the best and having faith in God. After my visa was approved, my family too was approved within two months later. So they joined me during my study in Canada. I have completed my MSc program(faster than the normal duration), family was nominated by the Province for PR, got my 3-year post graduate permit, started working on a good job and hoping to live the Canadian dream! All things are possible. I got a lot of information on this platform while applying for my study permit. I am more than happy to provide advice and information as a way to give back to the platform. Unfortunately I will not be able to reply to private messages due to some personal reasons. Please post your questions on the thread, I will provide answers if I know the answer or someone else can help. I believe we have very experienced people here who are willing to help. I wish you all the best Happy new year! 26 Likes 1 Share |

Hello, hope my response is not late. If I remember correctly, I think some of those boxes are optional, apart from the tuition fee(Pls confirm and correct me if I am wrong) For me, when I filled that section of the form, I only just filled the estimate of my first year tuition fee, omitted the other boxes because they are optional and the filled the "fund available for my stay" Hope this helps.
