If you mean the email from vfs(Canada Visa Application Service), yes. Yes you will receive an email from vfs, email subject mat be something like " Application Accepted" Content may read "Dear applicant, We would like to inform you that your application has been processed in our office on..." That was the kind of email I received after doing my biometrics. Hope that helps. Nellykuch: My own question is, do one receive mail after the biometrics? Did mine today and saw a mail after wards that my application has been processed. And I am kinda confused. |

I think I mentioned that in my testimony post. It think it was about 3 times. First email was for them to update my upfront medicals to reflect that I had done it. I attached the evidence again. Second email, I asked them to confirm validity. Pleaded for speedy processing. Third email, sent my police cert, explained why I couldn't attach when submitting my application. Then pleaded again for speedy processing of my application acknowledging the fact the I understand they are very busy. I tried to be as polite as I could in my emails sillysassysally: Hiya,
Please do you mind sharing the number of times you sent messages to IRCC regarding your application? I'm asking because I also have a very short time available; my school resumes in June and I was only able to submit my application this April so there's little to no time left... |

It's not compulsory to book an appointment, but it might be helpful. In my case I didn't book, I went there very early morning before the office was even opened. I was the first person. They normally resume work by 8am. It doesn't take time to do biometrics, not up to 15 minutes in my case. Hope that helps. favoured247: Please a quick one. I got a mail for biometrics. I intend doing it on Tuesday in lag as early as possible that day so I can go back to work far from lag. Do I need to book an appointment so I can be attended to on Tuesday morning? Or I am supposed to just walk in there without an appointment? And also is this something I can complete before 9am in the morning that Tuesday? |

Well for me, I had most of my money in Treasury bill and fixed deposit when I submitted my application., and another huge amount in my pensions account In my savings account I only had about 250k,and still submitted the statement like that. Although I paid 2k CAD as initial deposit for my school fees My visa was approved. Cash in fixed deposit and treasury bills can be easily made available by liquidating the account /investment and I think the visa officers know that. But I hope your friend has other money in addition to what his/her sponsor has, because in my opinion, 6 million may not be sufficient fund nalizzzy: good day pls am asking for a friend. her dad has 6 million in fixed deposit and a closing balance of 50 thousands naira. pls I told her to remove statement of account. am I wrong? |

After paying the 2k, I sent an email to the CASHIER OFFICE, asking them to send a receipt to confirm my payment. I told them it was urgent because I needed it to apply for my visa that same day. They replied my email that same day, by sending me a letter that confirmed that I had paid the 2k, Email: cashiers@mun.ca Hope this helps. Thanks Mijac: My admission letter didn't state the tuition . Was another Letter sent to you after paying the 2k dollars? Kindly Advice pls. |

Please guys for personal reasons, I am not able to reply private messages (PM). Please kindly ask your questions here on this platform and I will answer or someone else will be able to. Also that's part of the reasons I have provided as much details here and I provide details when answering questions Sorry to all those whose PM I didn't reply to. Additionally, I believe questions that are asked openly here and answered could provide answers to many people's questions too; and could used as reference by the new /upcoming hopefuls in the future Thanks for your understanding. Please if you have any questions kindly ask them here, I may be able to answer you or someone else could answer. Sorry I may not be able to respond to private messages for personal reasons.
Just a few more notes

English language test is not usually required from Nigerians by most Canadian schools. Your degree or transcripts should state that English language was the language used during your studies in Nigeria. If not, your academic reference letter from your lecturer or HOD should state it clearly. That was what I did. Though I wrote IELTS about the same period when I submitted my application for MSc, it was for a different reason. Or you get a letter from your registrar confirming that English language was the language of instruction during your study in Nigeria.
When. I was filling the cic form that asked if had taken English language test, I said yes, but did not attach my IELTS test result because I had not collected my IELTS result even though it was ready at the time I was submitting my visa application. ---------------------------
For the CIC IMM family information form, I filled the birth dates and addresses and other information of my parents and siblings but I did not attach the birth certificates, Id cards, intl passports or pictures.
---------------------------
Landed properties : I did not submit any land document, my documents were not ready and for my parents land, the only document available is just a receipt. I did think it was necessary. ----------------------------
Police cert in Abuja was 10k Naira
----------------------------- Let me thank everyone here who has been helping to provide information and guidance. I found some the information helpful. |

Very matured, non temperamental and understanding response. I believe you were intentionally with your matured response. That's what I am talking about, positive energy!! JustMellow: Hello Bracha,
I'm always open to corrections that's what builds knowledge. I am not here to teach or learn English, what's important is been able to pass out the needed message. Its intentional for me using the preference of "You is" to "You are" - Thanks for the observation, I guess I have to discard my old dictionaries and get a new one, then study it in depth to address the other raised points of "words misuse" and the application of "words in their right context."
I laughed uncontrollably and almost choked when i saw your post, and i appreciate your politeness but your post would have attributed to my improvement if only you had offered to tutor me. Now, am vexed!
You should know this: No offense taken. |

No I didn't get a supervisor. My MSc is not thesis based, but course based. Per information from MUN, course based MSc is not eligible for university funding. I didn't want to go through the stress of seeking for university funding, even though I think I may have been qualified for it. Also I wanted a programme that is fast track, shorter duration compared to a thesis based programme So if you want funding from the university you will have to apply for a thesis based MSc or if you are going PhD you are eligible for funding too. But one can still apply for scholarships from other sources once the program commences. xcaper: Congratulations on your approval, did you get a supervisor before you applied for the program at MUN and did you get any scholarship or funding?. |

Merging Documents
Yes I did. But please note, I do not think it's the best way to do it though. I mean merging other documents with CIC IMM documents. I think the IMM should be completed and attached alone. In retrospect, I think the "Client Information should be a better place for all extra documents that are are not clearly called out in the tabs where documents are to be added. At the time I did my application, I was not sure or did not know that all such documents should better be attached be attached to the "Client Information Tab". Even my SOP, initially I merged it with the my admission letter and other academic credentials and was ready to submit, when someone reviewed my application and advised that the SOP should be on the client information tab. I left it that way still attached with the admission letter but went ahead to still attach the SOP to the client information tab. I did this because I was ready to submit the application and didn't want to start editing the documents all over. So the only document I attached on the client information tab was my SOP. I only did what I thought was reasonable at the time and posted it here, just for information. Fortunately it worked for me. If ever you want to try what I did, please DON'T attach/merge any extra document with the IMM1294E form(that is the application for study permit form) I tried it by merging some documents. But when I uploaded it to the "IMM1294E document tab" it was rejected, that the document is not in the required format. I think my merging and saving in the format I did somehow affected the validation bar code on the form. I used a combination of two apps, "pdf reader for Android" and "All pdf" both on my phone, for the merging, rearranging of pages etc. And then to reduce the size, I still those two apps. However when I needed to drastically reduce the size of the merged documents without affecting the quality of the documents, I used ilovepdf, an online tool for compressing documents But of course, I had to use a laptop to fill the IMM forms. IMM forms are not readable on phones. Upfront Medicals:There was a specific tab for me to add upfront medical. I guess this was because I had indicated that I had done my upfront medicals when I was answering the preapplication questionnaire. Pardon any typo errors. Sorry for the too much details, I'm just detail oriented. sillysassysally: I want to actually thank you for taking out the time and pain to type all of this out to give us perspective on what you did. I also want to thank you for showing commitment to helping people out with their queries. Also, congratulations on receiving your study permit! I wish you a successful academic year ahead.
I have two questions for you 1. You mentioned that you were able to merge some family pictures with your CIC IMM form. I didn't know that was possible as i thought the CIC forms had some added technicality to them with the whole adobe flash thing and what not... How did you merge the files? smallpdf? 2. Under what section of your application did you attach your upfront medicals? |

Either way is fine. In fact, I think, the more liquid the cash, the better. I did fixed deposit and treasury bills not because of visa application but be I needed to make sum cash instead of just allowing it to be "wasting" in savings account. RSA... Retirement savings account(Pensions fund) Hope that helps sashaa: Congratulations! And thanks for all the details you have provided.
My question is on proof of funds as I'm also planning to apply as a self sponsored applicant. Is it okay to leave your funds in fixed deposit instead of liquidating it? I noticed you did that. I was planning to liquidate my money market investment and move the funds to my savings account. Also, what's RSA? |

THIS IS MY STORY, THIS IS MY SONG.
Post is a bit LONG OOOOOO
APPLICATION FOR MSC ADMISSION ----------------------------------------------------------- I applied to MUN sometime in November 2018. Transcripts took a while to process, Nigerian schools are not helpful with this.
When MUN received my transcripts, they said there was no date on the transcripts showing that I had completed my degree. So I'd need a letter from my university confirming that I had completed my degree.
I was offered conditional admission, pending when when I submit a letter from my university confirming that I completed my degree.
I was supposed to get the letter from the registrar(that is the normal process in my university, even though MUN did not state it in their website). But I decided to get it from my HOD, I thought it would be faster from the HOD and I would pay little or nothing. Someone who had done it the same way advised me to do so.
I paid 20K DHL for the shipment of the letter on behalf of my university. I tracked the shipment till it arrived MUN. Upon arrival of the letter I thought they would give the full unconditional admission letter automatically.
But after waiting a few days. I sent an email telling them I'm sure the letter had arrived MUN.
When they finally confirmed it, I was told the letter was not acceptable, that it was not considered official because it came from the HOD instead of the Registrar.
I became weak, because I knew what it took to get the letter from the HOD due to ASUU strike and then the DHL cost.
I prayed, sent them an email the next day, explaining that MUN did not state the requirement that the letter must come from the registrar. That I was sincerely surprised that a letter signed by the HOD was considered unofficial! That the whole process of getting another one would take more time and money, and I could miss the resumption date because the time it takes to process study visa and I was not willing to defer my admission because I already had set target timeline for achieving my MSc.
Well, within two hours after sending the email, MUN offered me full unconditional admission letter! Just like that! This was around 17 February, I think.
Then I booked upfront medicals with IOM Abuja.
IOM Lagos and Q life didn't have favorable dates for me. IOM Lagos told me next available date was 5March while Qlife said sometime in May! Imagine that
I had to travel down to ABJ!
OK ENOUGH OF THE LONG Story!
HERE'S MY TIMELINE Travelled to Abuja 26 February and stayed for about a week.
27 Feb: Upfront medicals at IOM Abuja. I got there about 7:30am, I was number 20 on the list! Medical result ready same day by 2:30pm.
27 Feb : 3:50 pm, Applied for police character certificate at the police force headquarters Abuja. But approval was done from Lagos office takes three days for Lagos to approve! Imagine Headquarters in ABUJA could not approve!!
1 March: Visa application online. Plenty documents to merge and submit! I didn't know it was that tedious!
2 March : Biometrics instruction email received, this was a Saturday, so couldn't do it as VFS does not work on Saturday. I had to spend the weekend in ABJ.
Collected my police certificate 2 March but I had submitted my application. I didn't think it was a compulsory document. But I just did it in case of necessity.
4th March: Biometrics enrollment at VFS Abuja.
Travelled back home. Could not take flights to and fro, was managing my money ooo!
Then the wait started!
I checked my profile like steady state equation!
I prayed and prayed and then I just started and continued praising God that it is done!
TWO WEEKS LATER
13 March : I noticed my upfront medicals was yet to be updated on my CIC account. I sent them emails and CSE web forms, asking them to update my profile to reflect that I had passed the medical exam. Same with the biometrics.
14 March: medical was updated " You passed the medical exam"
No update on biometrics status. Background check was ongoing. Well, that is how it was immediately I submitted my application!
For every email or web form I sent, I pleaded with them to process my application on time in order for me to meet the resumption date of MUN for the Spring semester in May. I also acknowledged that I understood that VOs are busy and would not have bothered them if not for my resumption date!
FUNNY THING After my medical was updated to "Pass" the next day, medical status changed back to "You do not need medical exam...bla bla bla". I was confused.
I called IRCC to complain, the lady that answered said that my details show that both medical and biometrics results have been received by IRCC. She then told me that my application was being processed in Kenya, if I had any questions, I should contact the Kenya office.
I kept waiting Oooo... One day wait and every other day looked like forever!
March 31: Received an email, saying, "No updates have been made on your application... "
APRIL MY MONTH OF VISALISATION!
2 April: After waiting for my police cert to be requested, it was not requested, I decided to send it using CSE web form. Explaining that it became available after I had submitted my application and that I thought they might need it for background checks. Then pleaded that they should treat my application urgently in order for me to meet the deadline for resumption. I just wanted them to notice me sha
3 April : Medical was again updated to "You passed the medical exam" Sweet! I just finished praying and fasting and checked my status later that evening.
4 April : Eligibility changed to "We're reviewing whether you meet the eligibility requirements" fantastic!
Same day, I received the correspondence letter confirming my biometrics validity!
5 April : I received an email notification to check my cic account profile. Wow!
Final Decision " Your application was approved"
Then message section : Original Passport Request"
Say what!??!!!?
I became overwhelmed and ecstatic with joy unspeakable!
It felt so unreal, like a dream God! My God!

2. Plan to use the knowledge acquired back in Nigeria because of the demand for professionals in my field and the value Nigeria has for international education.
3. Family /Home ties My wife and baby. My parents are siblings. I would long to reunite with them after my studies
Then concluded by saying that I shall be grateful if my application is favorable considered on time. ---------------------- In all God be praised! Keep the hope alive. It shall be well[/quote] ILoveDLord: O my God!

I'm new here. Although I have been following the thread for some months now.
The pieces of information shared on this platform are priceless. Thanks to everyone who contributes by answering questions, providing clarification, sharing their personal testimonies and profiles despite their busy schedules.
I am registering my presence here because I strongly believe I will soon receive approval for my study permit.
Also I think I have gathered sufficient information to be able to guide others who might have questions regarding the TRV application process and status; and I willing to start doing that.
Congrats to all those who recently got approvals, your testimonies are a source of inspiration and hope for us all.
