LordReed: I don't rate stories to be superior or inferior. I categorise then based on what type of story they are telling. If for example it's a funny story, then it would be by which I find funnier. It doesn't mean it is a superior story because I found it more entertaining, that's just my preference. Some other persons might not find it as funny as I did and that is fine.
Rating is fine but to condemn one just because you favour another is just sad. Similar take here, really. i like the comparative without being comparative. |

LordReed: I don't judge mythologies to be superior or inferior. They are all stories of how our forebears saw the world, Judge is a strong and slippery word in my clime, i will use rate. i rate stories differently and indeed find some superior to others. Anything wrong with rating? |

Look, economy doesn't run on tax. Economy generate sundry revenues including taxes. It government that runs on these revenues including taxes. Fixing the economy is key, bro. Lol means lots of laughter. The 36 states and the FCT generated a total of N2.43 trillion as Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) in 2023, Nigerians paid N12.37 trillion taxes in 2023 Tax is the economy friend. |

Dbegining: They should suspend the bill abeg.
Cause how will you propose to increase VAT to 15%?!
That's madness!
And, it's really deceitful that the government is saying those earning below N800,000 per annum won't pay tax but even those earning the minimum wage of N70,000 will pay tax cause they earn N840,000 per annum Cause N70,000 × 12 = N840,000
So, everybody will pay tax! Deceitful!
I think you should go through the tax drat or listen to the town hall meeting that hosted Oyedele. Its N800,000
Then, as for those private organizations paying below N70,000 monthly. Check it, the employees don't pay tax. Nothing changes in that regard. The tax reform bills are all available for anybody in the world to read. Please read them if you care this much or skim through at least. It can be gotten here. https://fiscalreforms.ng/index.php/2024/10/04/nigerian-tax-reforms-bills/Mr. Oyedele himself explained the additional 200,000 that makes it 1 million, and i have helped you to attach it in this post. Under the current tax laws, everyone pays tax, no exemption. It is this same FG that gave some temporary concessions because of the hardship, it's not a law but executive order. Current law for personal income tax is attached. You pay 7% if you earn 300,000naira or less per annum. For those earning more, 11% is the tax rate on the next 300,000naira. i.e if you earn 600k p.a, 7% is charged on the first 300k and 11% on the next/remaining money. If you earn more than 600k, 15% is charged on anything above 600k. This is the current tax law and rate. On the other hand, the tax reform bill is proposing 0% tax for people earning 800k and below, and there is rent relief of 200,000 or 20% of annual ren (see picture 3number vi). Meaning, they will not tax you for 800k + 200k from rent. That's 1million naira. You show your rent receipt plus your salary, they will not tax the first 800k and 200k of the money you paid for rent. Essential items such as food, education, healthcare will enjoy 0% VAT while rent, public transportation, and renewable energy will be exempted, providing relief for low-income households that spend nearly 100% of their income on these necessities. This is the proposal. These are the facts, let's argue objectively please.

If Tinubu is not the one controlling Lagos then who is controlling it. Seyi is gearing up to take up the mantle already but u are sitting there saying nonsense. Here are te questions again, i already assumed with you that Tinubu controls Lagos. Is Lagos state better than yesterday in economy and revenue generation? Is there any state in Nigeria better than Lagos? At least, those states are not under Tinubu or Alpha Beta? |

Zico5: I don't need to answer u. Tell me one policy that Tinubu has introduced that has significant effect on the masses. All the write up about tax reform are gimmick. By the time the real deal on tax reform appears then u will know that Tinubu agenda is beyond tax reform. Alpha Beta today gained ground in Lagos and it's mainly through tax reform by Tinubu. Let's assume you are saying the truth, is Lagos state better than yesterday in economy and revenue generation? Is there any state in Nigeria better than Lagos? At least, they are not under Tinubu or Alpha Beta? |

Ezewuzie01: There is nothing wrong with that. People change their minds often as situation on ground necessitates. Tinubu himself was once against fuel price hike under Jonathan but has now shifted ground with his total subsidy removal.
The tax bills are necessary and must be passed into law. There's even no change of mind there. He doesn't support a unilateral increase in VAT which affects the poor. He wants people who earn below 1million naira per annum to pay 0% tax while companies and people that earn above 100million naira have their tax percentage increased a little. |
