Who's stopping opposition from being this organized? When we see the unseriousness of opposition in the simplest matters and we say they are not ready or fit, people start to foam and call us names.
We were on these streets when we gave unserious people power. They nearly ruined the country in 6 years. Never again. Why would i sit and watch unserious people gamble with my country like it doesn't affect us all? When you present someone and something more prepared than the Jagaban, mention me. Stop insulting us with people like Obi as options.

In 2026, you are still quoting those imaginary theories of demand and supply determining the price of a product.
The prices of every on earth is determined primarily by government policies. Manufacturers, Suppliers, retailers etc conduct businesses with fiat currencies design to loose value over time thereby reducing the purchasing power as a result of price increment.
Let's talk about crude oil, natural gas, gold and Co pricing.
This commodities are traded on commodity exchanges like ICE, NYMEX, CME etc where two parties (longers and shortened) determine it price. The longers buy future contracts expecting price to rise and make profit while the shortened sell future contracts expecting to drop as to make profit. The party that has money wins the game and move price in there direction until the next party emerge.
Finally, people not buying a product doesn't reduce the price.
i can't help you, you should have listened in class.

Yes. They mismanaged it by using it to settle political favours and letting corruption run rampant in it. Then they scraped it - for good or bad.

But now, we're talking about intervening during an EMMERGENCY situation. We have a situation that threatens to tank our economy and send millions into joblessness and poverty - at a time we can't afford that.

The corruption that attended it in the past doesn't have to come back and they don't have to retain it forever. I explained it in this thread - https://www.nairaland.com/8639149/why-president-tinubu-should-temporarily
This is not an emergency, no one can predict how long and what direction the middle east crises would go on. The FG must stay focused and disciplined. The heavens are not going to fall, we've been through worse. We've got over 200million people, that's a NO NO for subsidy. We simply can't afford it as a nation.

I never knew betrayal and suicide are complimentary. But how do I know that you're wired to see things?

Your pure water guy obviously did not do his research well before jumping into the business. I can boldly say pure water business is about the easiest business to run with a decent profit in Nigeria. Why do you think so many pure water firms are around us today. I can point to so many errors he made as someone who is conversant with the business. But that's not my business so I just wish him better luck next time. And I'm shocked you still want to blame Nigerians for his failure. Will you also praise Nigerians for the success of others in the business or they are only available for blame in your dictionary?
2Sa 16:23 KJV And the counsel of Ahithophel, which he counselled in those days, was as if a man had enquired at the oracle of God: so was all the counsel of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom.

As i knew, you can't erase the fact about your crude and fantastically corrupt behaviors. My advice and point stands, no wise government will subsidize fuel to/for Nigerians at this time. Cry yourself to sleep dear.

See how you are giving Ahitophelian vibes.

Have you read about the man in your Bible?

You seem to even be ready to blame Nigerians for existing at all and not allowing your gods to just preside over Nigeria without humans as long as he can somehow be called President.
That's a compliment, given that Ahitophel's advice were 100% correct and like an angel talking, divine. Thanks.
We know Nigerians very well, don't hide behind one finger dear. In every sphere in this location, we show pepper, no be today. i just copied one example randomly below.

2024 i opened a pure water factory for additional income.

In fact in my head I had imagined that it’s blood money business I was about to enter because I felt the expenses will be small so I imagined plenty profit.

In my mind I said after all I’m not buying the water.

Anyway let me first use 5 minutes to laugh at my self first before I start 😂😂😂

I bought every machine it needed to Nafdac standard,I also registered it with Nafdac so my sale was very legit.
That gave me my first experience with Nafdac

I started with 3 cars,a hilux truck and 2 open boot bikes.

We kicked off and my reality set in.

First of all printing of roll was more expensive than i thought, already taking half of my money.

Then as a producer our price is usually regulated with other factories,we cannot give drivers higher than other factories because we had a union binding us and it was part of our rules.

We are producers so we don’t sell directly,we give to drivers at cheaper rate then they sell and make their money.
As at that time I was giving each bag of water to my drivers at 120 naira a bag sometimes 150.

Now I will still buy fuel for the cars ooo
Even when i considered the option of them buying fuel and adjusting their price I still suffered for it.

I also pay each bagger 10 naira to bag 1 bag, this is minus other salaries of the people in production handling the major sealing machines ooo

I was burning electricity and light bill as if fire was burning my Nyash.

I changed filters every two weeks and it’s not cheap

I ran diesel to support Nepa because of course I live in Nigerian.

I had so many staffs on salaries too and there are so many other expenses i cannot say all here.
Abi is it car maintenance, story for another day 🥱

Drivers will owe me and they kept giving excuses that customers are owing them, all lies, infact me,drivers and police station became customers every week.

I gave most of this drivers accommodation ooo but the truth is they are full blown thieves.

At the end of every sales I make money but it goes like the wind to expenses and I will be left with only money to replace the rolls to produce again.

To cut the long story short I was close to running madd then I shut down the business and I regained my sanity.

If you have ever ran a pure water business you will understand this post better than anyone else, and if you intend to open a pure water factory first go to Amadioha and take juju make all your workers first swear oath before you start and take jazz not to run madd.

Err, we're talking about energy. The laws of economics don't apply the same across board. Note also that energy prices have ripple effects across the economy. That's why governments everywhere intervene in energy matters – if they have to.

Anything that deepens poverty requires intervention ipso facto.. Good politicians know this. Good economists know it.
FG intervened for decades with fuel subsidy. Do you remember?
PoliticsWhy's Nigeria Not Enjoying Windfall From Ongoing Geopolitics? by Image123(op): 2:43pm On Mar 25
There's the intermittent question that comes up about how Nigeria enjoyed oil windfall during Gulf War in the 90s and how we're not enjoying same now. Let's try to break it down.

Nigeria’s oil windfall in the 90s wasn’t a single event. It was the result of a combination of price dynamics, production capacity, and geopolitical shifts that temporarily boosted revenue.

1. Oil price spikes (especially mid–late 1990s)

Global crude prices rose at different points in the decade due to supply disruptions and market tightening. Even moderate increases mattered because Nigeria’s economy was (and still is) heavily dependent on oil exports.
Oil accounts for the majority of Nigeria’s export earnings and government revenue.
So when prices rise, revenue increases disproportionately. This is what is called a windfall gain.

2. Membership in OPEC

Nigeria benefited from coordinated production strategies: OPEC sometimes reduced output quotas globally to push prices up.
Even when Nigeria complied with quotas, higher prices still increased total earnings.
At times, weak enforcement of quotas meant countries (including Nigeria) produced more than agreed, further boosting revenue.

3. Recovery and expansion of production

After earlier political instability in the 1980s: Nigeria improved output levels in the 1990s.

Investments in upstream oil infrastructure helped maintain steady production (around 2 million barrels/day in some periods).

BTW, much of the extra revenue was not saved or invested productively.
During the military regimes of the 1990s (notably under Abacha), large sums were lost to corruption and capital flight. There was no strong sovereign wealth or stabilization mechanism at the time.

How much was the 1990s oil windfall? The most clearly documented windfall in that period came from the 1990–1991 Gulf War oil price spike.
Nigeria earned roughly $12.2–$12.4 billion in extra oil revenue during that period This was “windfall” money, meaning it was above normal expected revenue, caused by oil prices jumping sharply (from about $17 to as high as ~$36–$46 per barrel) Important nuance That approximately $12 billion figure is just one major windfall episode, not the total oil earnings of the 1990s. Nigeria earned tens of billions overall from oil in the decade, but the “windfall” label specifically refers to unexpected surplus revenue from price shocks. This is like oil price increase by close to 300%. This was military era when the Head of state determined what happened with what. Imagine getting 300% of your projected revenue for one year. Not having to go through budget agreements and presentations with national assembly, governors and 230million Nigerians challenging what you do with it.

Historically, every major oil price spike (1973, 1979, 1990, 2008) produced windfalls for Nigeria. Why Nigeria is NOT fully benefiting today
Even when prices rise, Nigeria’s situation today is structurally different from the 1990s:

Lower production Nigeria often produces below its OPEC quota due to: oil theft pipeline vandalism underinvestment Revenue leakages and deductions still play some role. Debt servicing also consumes a big part of revenue. Exchange rate and inflation effects Even when dollar oil revenue increases: Naira depreciation inflation
reduce the real economic benefit.

It’s a “constrained windfall” — high prices exist, but structural issues prevent Nigeria from fully benefiting. These are not issues solved simply by complaining about Nigeria or having a man from a particular tribe, party or religion as president.

PoliticsRe: What FG Can Do To Bring Down Petrol Price by Image123(m): 1:43pm On Mar 25
FG cannot and should not bring down anything. BTW, the speaker in the OP is saying a truck of rubbish only fit for media pages.
Who stops Ahmad from increasing the cost of goods or Mummy Deborah from increasing the cost of goods? Mr President doesn't believe in the headache of price regulation because Nigerians are ready to buy, this is basic demand law. If you don't demand, price will drop. But we will eternally demand, it's even a flex. It's a multihydra headed problem that's more than what FG alone can do in a quick fix.
The law of demand states that, ceteris paribus (all else being equal), as the price of a good or service increases, the quantity demanded by consumers decreases. This DOES NOT work with Nigerians. Even when people go for a 'cheaper' alternative, that alternative price increases to same level as the former, and it rarely comes down in Nigeria.

RomanceRe: What My Fiancee's Pastor Told Me The Day I Met Him. by Image123(m): 2:38pm On Mar 24
Toolegit123:
Good day everyone.

So recently I've been thinking about marriage. Tho I'm in a relationship but the woman I've been dating doesn't really seem to have the same serious interest and intentions like me. I've talked to her severally but it seems she isn't ready to settle down yet. Imagine this is someone whom I've gone to see her people and they know me well. My own people know her too. I've equally talked to her mom since she's the one parent she has . And had also talked to her best friend about it too.

But one thing I've noticed about her is that she's over religious and seems to be too close to her pastor. The last time I talked to her about the marriage stuff, she directed me to go and talk to her pastor. Tho I was initially furious about it but I just had to man up,kill my pride and decided to pay her pastor a visit.

From the conversation I had with her pastor,it seems he's one of the major stumbling blocks. Because he was only curious about my financial status sad he was even asking me what was my source of livelihood, and of which I told him. Afterwards,he then asked me what was my monthly salary. Saying if I'm sure I can take care of my fiancee with that amount,or if I'm planning to have a side hustle. That he doesn't want a case where any of her spiritual daughter will go into a marriage where she'll be suffering. I told her categorically clear that I'm not a lazy man and I don't intend to put anyone's daughter into suffering in the name of marriage.

It's been over a week since I left the pastor's office, and since then,my fiancee has been behaving so cold towards me.

So I don't know whether to continue with my proposal or I should just kindly look for another lady to marry.
Any responsible father wouldhave same concerns and queries.

PoliticsRe: The Strange Agreement Tinubu And His Boy Hurriedly Signed In The UK by Image123(m): 10:02am On Mar 24
FSBoperator:
Has nothing to do with Nigerian citizens in the UK.

This is for asylum seekers and not illegal imigrants.

The UK also has a similar agreement with Rwanda to temporarily house asylum seekers in faccilities that the UK will build and the asylum seekers will also get a small monthly token from same UK govt while their asylum process is pending. If it fails, they will be informed and the Nigerian govt will remove them back to their country which the UK will pay for their flights.

This is a money earner for the Nigerian economy and I don't see how this is bad in any way as I don't see any of those asylum seekers willing to remain in Nigeria if their asylum is denied.

The UK is doing this because they have a serious housing deficit and their social services like the NHS and public schools are being streched to their breaking point. The UK also will pay less on welfare to these asylum seekers given the lower cost of living in Nigeria.

In a nut shell, if Nigeria receives 5,000 asylum seekers annually who will spend approximately 6months to a year processing their asylum claims into the UK, and the UK pays each asylum seeker one thousand pounds per month for their duration of stay in Nigeria, that will amount to 30 million to 60 million pounds injected into our economy.

Also consider that the UK will foot the bill for their accomodation and build asylum camps/estates for them and if their application fails or is succesful, the UK will pay for their travel out of Nigeria.

Nigeria stands to gain at least one hundred million pounds annually with this deal which is about 200 billion NAIRA.
This is more than what the entire SE region contributed to the Federal purse annually.

So rest.
Nigerians with no legal right to remain in the UK.
