The Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH), has discredited the purported report said to have emanated from the hospital to the effect that General Muhammadu Buhari is stricken with cancer, the APC Presidential Campaign Organisation has said.

A statement by the Directorate of Media and Publicity of the APC Campaign in Abuja on Saturday described as disdainful, distractive, mischievous, fake and fallacious the trending news report of an alleged prostate cancer condition of its presidential flag bearer, Buhari being credited to a source from the renowned Teaching Hospital.

“It (report of cancer) is untrue and condescending of its exponents. I have it on good authority that GMB has not visited the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital in the last five years. So, how can anyone say that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer last October, barely three months ago?” Garba Shehu, Director, Media and Publicity of the Campaign said.

“This is the highest point of political distraction, malice and mischief. The report was not only fake but unfounded. I have spoken to impeccable sources at ABUTH all of whom deny the report and also claimed that the letterhead used was not their regular one, and that Dr. Bala Mohammed that purportedly approved the false Medical Report is not on the personnel list of that department,” he said.

Aside, Shehu said sources at ABUTH also disclosed that “Medical Report analysis only come from Laboratory Technologists and not Medical Doctors as handwritten in this particular case, stressing that General Buhari did not attend the hospital for cancer or any other ailment.”

Shehu also dismissed as figment of the imagination of “wicked and evil persons,” rumour that General Buhari may be travelling to the United States towards the end of this month for medical check up.

He restated its earlier statement on Friday that Buhari is as fit as a fiddle.

Shehu while dismissing the report as fabrications, however, said that “as a prominent leader of the opposition, many interests across the Globe want him (GMB) over for political and diplomatic consultations,” adding that the “invitation to the US may not be unconnected to this.”

Eq Guinea co-hosted successfully in 2012, now in 2015 they will host individually. Nigeria co-hosted with Ghana in 2000 and till now is yet to host again. What story does that tell? That Nigeria had a head start on Eq Guinea and they have now caught up and overtaken us? Is it that Eq Guinea is in any way a better country than Nigeria? Is it that Eq Guinea has no problem with insecurity? Or is it that they have better developed infrastructure than Nigeria? Or better finances than Nigeria? What exactly is the rational reason why in a straight shootout between a giant like Nigeria and a tiny country like Eq Guinea, the outcome will be a victory for Eq Guinea?
No matter how you might want to rationalise this, the fact is that once it became public knowledge that it was a straight choice between Nigeria and Eq Guinea, there is no way Nigeria should have permitted itself to lose face by backing down. Jalal: BREAKING: Kaduna records first case of Ebola!

A 19- year old student of Law at the Ahmadu Bello University has been diagnosed with the deadly Ebola virus in Kaduna.

The Public Relations Officer, Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, ABUTH, Bilyaminu Umar, while confirming the case on Monday when contacted via phone said the student was diagnosed at ABUTH, Shika, Zaria.

“Yes, there was a case of a suspected Ebola patient. He is with the Faculty of Law, ABU, Zaria and will be placed on isolation. I am out of town, but will confirm details on my return from a trip,” he said.

He was said to have operated on a woman on Monday presumably after secretly treating the diplomat. Fell ill next day Tuesday and died last Friday. No one knew about this hotel angle which was a very big risk he took...and unethical thing to do.. He was ill for 3 days...then started vomiting blood with bloody diarrhoea. He was rushed to Prime...where he was rejected and then taken to Good heart whose MD is a Cardiologist ..a consultant physician with UPTH. He died there. Good heart is on EVO road in GRA ph2 THE Doctor that died practices in East West Road Rumuokoro...Sam Steel clinic. The wife also a Doctor has a 3-month old baby. There may have been well over 200 contacts of this devilish diplomat who lured his young Doctor friend to treat him secretly and went back to Lagos. I hear he has eventually submitted himself for Ebola check in a bid to get a clearance certificate to fly out..he tested positive and is now quarantined in lagos..It's quite a calamity unfolding in Ph. Unfortunately Ph health facilities are not quite ready to contain Ebola at the moment. There are American experts and federal and WHO health workers in town however training Drs and other healthworkers and helping out with contact tracing etc .

For your information, I followed the mediation by the National Assembly on the resolution of the strike/impasse.

I witnessed the negotiations/sittings among the representatives of NMA/NARD; the Director, Budget Office - Dr Bright Okogwu; the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Mr Linus Awute; the Minister of Labour and Productivity - Chief Emeka Wogu; the National Assembly led by Hon Ndudi Elumelu and other stakeholders.

In the above parley it was explained to the doctors the fiscal and budgetary impossibility of acquiscing to their demands at this stage of the fiscal year.

The government made several immediate concessions while praying the doctors to await the beginning of the next fiscal year for budgetary provisions to be made to capture their new demands.


There and then, the doctors agreed in principle after seeing the true picture of things. All the negotiating parties left the sitting happy that the strike soon would be called of.


But when the doctors went back to their constituency, unseen hands got to work. They became unduly intransigent and unreasonable, rendering all the time and resources expended to reach a truce futile.


I am sure it was the unseen hands that cajole them of the availability of non-existent powers. They forgot that when push comes to shove, the government would default to the position of an employer.
