Celebrities / Regina Daniels Finally Reveals Truth About Her Real Father by imeyalo09: 6:50pm On Aug 05, 2019
Regina Daniels has finally spoken up about knowing who her real father is. After one Barrister Jude Ojeogwu claimed to be her real father, there has been controversy about whether she gained the approval of her father or not.

However, in a recent Instagram post, Regina Daniels clarifies by telling the real truth. She knows who her real father is, and she mocks all those claiming to be her father by saying, “Every Dick and Harry claiming to be my father; that is if I have one”. It’s possible she means her father is God Almighty when she adds a praying emoji. Also, since she grew up with her mother and siblings, her father was never in the picture.

See the post below:
https://dailynaijamode.com/regina-daniels-finally-reveals-truth-about-her-real-father/

Meanwhile, these were Barrister Jude’s words:

“I invited Regina to my house where I live in Lagos; (I can’t disclose the location of my house right now for security reasons); she came to my house with her siblings (Lawrence and Samuel Ojeogwu) and I asked her if all I’ve been hearing is true because I wanted to know what was actually going on. She ‘Daddy, nothing is going on.’ I asked my first son, her brother, Lawrence Ojeogwu, the same question and he also said nothing was going on. I then asked my other son, Samuel, the same question, he too said the same thing, ‘Daddy nothing is going on’. I said okay, should we now say all that I’ve been hearing and seeing is more like a movie? And they said ‘Yes’.

However, I advised that if she wants to get married to an old man, she (Regina) should not forget that very soon she (Regina Daniels) would become a widow. But that if she is getting married to a man like her age mate, of the cause, becoming a widow would be far from her (Regina Daniels). That was where we finished the discussion about her marriage. I went further to ask what was happening about her education because I used to visit her in her school, Igbinedion University. She said she has plans of travelling to Dubai for her studies. I asked her what was in Dubai if not Arabic; that she should be thinking of going to Havard or Oxford University”

Celebrities / Teckno In Trouble As Police Set To Probe Lekki Stripers Video by imeyalo09: 3:33pm On Aug 05, 2019
The Lagos State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the recent viral video where a popular Nigerian singer was seen dancing with strippers in a transparent truck along the Lekki-Epe expressway in Lagos.

The musician, Augustine Kelechi, otherwise known as Tekno, was seen in a viral video dancing with the semi-clad women on Friday and spraying them with money, hitting them in the buttocks, an act which many Nigerians described as obscene.

The act is said to be in contravention of Section 136 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 which provides that any person who commits any act of gross indecency with another person in public commits an offence and liable to a conviction to three years imprisonment.

Section 134(a) further stipulates that an indecent act in a public place makes both parties engaging in the act liable to imprisonment for two years.

However, the singer and producer, Tekno has tendered his apology to Lagosians and the general public for the viral video.

Tekno, released a statement which explained his own account of the incident.

The Afropop singer who took to his Instagram page, said they were shooting a music video and there was a shortage of vehicles when they had to change locations.

According to him, he had no reason to be dancing with the half-naked girls as there was no music or ventilation in the truck.

Tekno further stated that they were shooting a music video and the footage which went viral was filmed by midnight, noting that he respects the decency in Lagos, the singer added that transparent truck incident was no form of advert for a strip club. Check his statement below.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Signage and Advertising Agency has announced the suspension of the advertising agency whose display truck was used in shooting the video.

In the statement which was signed by its Chief Executive Officer, Mobolaji Sanusi, the agency said the suspension of Provision Media System Limited would subsist until the completion of investigation.

The Ogun State Police Command has released the names of five pastors of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, kidnapped on Friday while they were on their way to the Redemption Camp to attend ministers’ conference.

The police also said they have located the forest where the five abducted pastors were kept at the Ogbere – Ijebu – Ode (Ogun State) stretch of the Sagamu–Ore expressway.

The names of the abducted pastors are: Chidozie Eluwa, Chiemela Iroha, Okoro Ohowukwe, Ndubuisi Owuabueze, and Ibeleji Chidinma (female).

According to the command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abimbola Oyeyemi, about 10 hoodlums, intercepted the commercial bus marked KW 230 XA in which the kidnapped victims were traveling from Abia State to Lagos.

He said the police had successfully “geo – located” the hideout of the kidnappers, adding that the state’s Commissioner of Police (CP), Bashir Makama has led a powerful police rescue team to the location with a view to rescuing the victims.

The PPRO added that the rescue team was getting closer to the location of the kidnappers, but noted that caution would be exercised by the team in order not to jeopardise the lives of the victims during the rescue operation.

Jobs/Vacancies / We Can’t Verify Certificates Of 80,724 Shortlisted Applicants – Police IG by imeyalo09: 12:50am On Aug 01, 2019
The Police Service Commission has said it could not verify the academic credentials of 80,724 applicants shortlisted for employment into the Constable cadre in the Nigeria Police Force.

The Commission stated that the candidates were shortlisted based on their physical attributes, noting that the verification of their certificates would be done by the West African Examination Council after their admission into police colleges for training.

The Commission’s spokesman, Ikechukwu Ani, in a telephone interview with our correspondent on Wednesday, said successful applicants who were invited to write an aptitude test on Saturday, must have five credit pass including English and Mathematics, to qualify for recruitment.

He explained that the test will hold in the 36 States of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The 80,724 candidates were shortlisted from the 210,150 applicants who applied for the 10,000 police slots. A total of 315,032 online applications were received at the close of the Commission’s recruitment portal on January 11, 2019.

Responding to questions about the number of applicants who failed to meet the academic requirements for the exercise, Ani said, “What we are doing is, we screen the documents and their physical attributes. At this point, we don’t have all it takes to verify certificates, but we look at it and if it looks okay, we pass it.”

He added, “When they (applicants) finally get in, there would be proper scrutiny of the certificates after they get to the (Police) colleges. I think we would write to WAEC to confirm the certificates, but at this point, we are just looking at them (certificates) and the one that is okay, we would pass. The person must have five credit pass including in English and Mathematics.”

The Commission’s spokesman, who is in Anambra State for the exercise, further explained that only those with physical deformities were dropped during the physical screening conducted by the Nigeria Police Force.

He said candidates who passed the aptitude test would also be subjected to medical screening to ascertain their health and fitness for the job.

More in Home

“The Police handled the physical screening and if you don’t have a flat foot or knock knee and if your results appear fine, then they would pass you to the next level, but the medical screening would be done for those who passed the examination,” Ani noted.

Commenting on the planned recruitment of 40,000 community police officers announced by the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, the PSC spokesman said the Commission was not part of the initiative.

He stated, “There is no meeting where it has been discussed with the Commission; The Commission is not part of it. I don’t have a brief that the Commission is part of it, but I feel the Commission should be part of it.”

Celebrities / Daniella Okeke: Why Most Women Love To Have Curvy Body Shape by imeyalo09: 12:40am On Aug 01, 2019
Despite the fact that actress, Daniella Okeke is touted as one of the curviest Nollywood actresses, she has opined that ladies, especially the ones seeking male attention by flagrantly displaying their sensuality, need not have a curvy physique to attract male attention.

The screen diva who is unarguably famous for her acting skills and has amassed a large number of followers, thanks to her voluptuous butts she unapologetically flaunts on social media, advised ladies, especially those with a body to die for but little or nothing to show for it, that no lady needs to be sexually attractive to get the attention of anyone.

“This generation is obsessed with figure 8. You don’t have to be shaped like a coke bottle to catch attention. Your brain can catch everything, develop it”, she said.

The debate on whether or not the massive hips and butt of the 32-year old thespian is natural or was surgically acquired remains a bone of contention despite the fact she has claimed it is natural.

Celebrities / Top Nigerian Entertainers In Diaspora by imeyalo09: 10:04am On Jul 29, 2019
The Nigerian entertainment industry is booming, both at home and abroad. In this piece, KORE OGIDAN takes a look at some of the biggest entertainers of Nigerian descent who practice their craft abroad

Sade Adu

Singer, songwriter and actress, Sade Adu, was born in Ibadan, Nigeria, to a professor father, Adebisi, and a British nurse, Anne. She grew up in Essex, England, and has always shown signs of creativity from an early age.

She started her career as a fashion designer and a part-time model. Well established and regarded in her craft, Sade has won prestigious awards such as Billboard, MOBO, and BRIT, among others.

Still, she is more than a singer and a pretty face. She is highly fashionable, too. Even at 60, Sade Adu turns heads with her fashion statements every time. She keeps to trends and always stays classy. Not one to go for loud jewellery or screaming colours, Adu proves that one can be conservative in dressing, yet aesthetically appealing.

Jidenna

Nigerian-American rapper, Jidenna Mobisson, popularly known as Jidenna, is the definition of a style icon. His creativity doesn’t end in the studio; it’s also heavily present in his fashion style. The singer/rapper known for hits like Classic Man, Bambi, Boomerang and many more, has won four Soul Train Music awards which he received in 2015. While in secondary school, he co-founded a rap group: Black Spadez. This was where he began producing, arranging and writing songs. He graduated from Stanford University. Jidenna is known for his sleek appearance, matching colours and wearing African prints, especially as suits. Not only is Jidenna a singer, but he is also known for featuring in television series like Luke Cage and Insecure. Although his fashion sense is respected everywhere, he didn’t adopt his style until 2010 when his father died. The singer developed his personal style in the university, where he learnt about the power of fashion from his psychology professor. He is the founding member of Fear and Fancy, a social club which is a collective of entrepreneurs, activists, educators, scientists, and artists who host soirees, dinner parties, and demonstrations. He is also very invested in his Nigerian roots.

Jidenna lived in Nigeria from his birth on May 4, 1985, till he was six years old, and moved back to the United States, where he still resides.

Wale

Olubowale Akintimehin was born on September 21, 1984, in Washington DC, USA. He is more popularly known by his stage name, Wale (Folarin). Wale attended Robert Morris University and Virginia State University on football scholarships, then transferred to Bowie State University, all in the US. He later dropped out due to academic reasons. He was nominated for a Grammy for his song Lotus Flower Bomb and he has BET Hip Hop award, Nigeria Entertainment Award and a Soul Train Music award. The rapper who is known for songs such as Bad, Matrimony, Ambition and more, is a huge wrestling fan. He even made references to this sport in many of his songs. He also has five studio albums and has featured Lady Gaga, Gucci Mane, Jazmine Sullivan, Kid Cudi and other hitmakers in his songs.

Wale’s statements are not restricted to the studio where he also writes and produces. His statement in fashion is also fascinating. Unlike many rappers of his status, Wale doesn’t adorn himself with big and shiny jewellery. He prides himself on his judiciousness and frugality. His simplicity is classy and timeless and makes him very attractive to look at. Interestingly, he also sells clothing items that he makes, including tee-shirts and face caps.

Although Wale is not married, he has a three-year-old daughter, Zyla.

Uzo Aduba

Uzo was born in Massachusetts, USA, to Nigerian parents from Anambra State. She graduated from Boston University, where she studied Classical Voice and competed in track and field competitions, including the 55-metre race and the 200-metre race. Her brother, Obi, played hockey at the University of Massachusetts and went on to play six seasons professionally. In 2003, she began gaining recognition for her acting in a performance in Translations of Xhosa at the Olney Theatre Center for the Arts, Maryland. That earned her a Helen Hayes Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Play.

She made her Broadway debut in 2007 when she played the character, Toby in Coram Boy and in 2012, she made her first television appearance on Blue Bloods. In 2013, she began playing the mentally challenged character, Suzanne Warren, also known as ‘Crazy Eyes’, in the ongoing Netflix comedy-drama series, Orange is the New Black.

Uzo has won two Emmy awards for the role, Crazy Eyes. She also won a Critics’ Choice Television Award and five Screen Actors Guild awards.

Sports / World Cup 2026: Hosts, Teams & TV Info For The Expanded Tournament by imeyalo09: 11:56pm On Jul 25, 2019
The 23rd tournament is still almost a decade away, but plans are already in place for the first ever 48-country global competition
The 2026 World Cup will be the 23rd edition of the tournament, and will be the first ever edition to include 48 teams. FIFA is set to announce the host winners of the 2026 bid on June 13.

The competition will be expanded from the 2022 World Cup which will include 32 teams, and is the third official expansion of the tournament. In 1982, it expanded from 16 teams to 24, and then added another eight teams for the 1998 World Cup in France.

In October 2016, FIFA looked at four different options of expanding the World Cup, including three proposals of a 40-team tournament and one with 48 teams. They announced their decision in January 2017, confirming that there would be 48 teams in the World Cup starting with the 2026 edition.

Goal brings you all the information about World Cup 2026 that is known so far.

When is the 2026 World Cup?
The 2022 World Cup in Qatar is set to be a winter tournament due to the heat during the months of June and July when the competition is usually held.

In 2026, it is likely to return to its usual position in the summer months following the end of the regular seasons in the majority of the European leagues. If it follows this path, World Cup 2026 will likely start in the middle of June and finish in the middle of July.

Due to the fact that it will be 50 per cent bigger than previous tournaments, the competition could take longer or else more games will be played each day to accommodate for the extra teams and additional fixtures.

Who will host the 2026 World Cup?
In 2017, FIFA decided that the host nation of the World Cup would be rotated between the continents to ensure that each governing body would be given the right to host the tournament in turn.

As a result of the 2018 World Cup in Russia and 2022 World Cup in Qatar, no country from either Europe (UEFA) or Asia (AFC) is allowed to bid for the 2026 tournament.

Two official bids have been made for the competition, with Morocco hoping to be the first north African host while CONCACAF has put forward a joint bid between USA, Mexico and Canada.

One of the requirements for a bid is the use of a modern stadium with a capacity of at least 80,000 supporters to host the World Cup final. Morocco's bid proposes the construction of a new stadium in the nation's capital, the Grande Stade de Casablanca, which could seat up to 120,000 fans.

New stadiums are also proposed in Oujda and Al Hoceima, while the 40,410-capacity Grand Stade de Tetouan is currently under construction. In October 2016, FIFA president Gianni Infantino praised Morocco's bid claiming that the country is "capable, in terms of infrastructure and organisation, of hosting a World Cup."

The CONCACAF bid would see the tournament held in three countries for the first time ever. The only other time it has been held in multiple countries was in 2002 when Japan and South Korea shared responsibilities. However, the vast majority of games would be held in the United States, with Mexico and Canada having just 10 each of the 80 matches total.

In October 2017, the bid committee had narrow down the list of possible venues in North America to 35 stadiums in 32 cities, and this was then reduced further in March 2018 with the bid committee choosing 23 cities available for hosting duties. This will be cut to 16 cities if the CONCACAF bid is successful.

Numerous stadiums in the initial bid have a capacity of over 80,000 for hosting the opening game and final including MetLife Stadium in New York, the future Los Angeles Stadium at Hollywood Park in California, as well as stadiums in Dallas, Texas and Washington DC.

Infantino has also praised the North American bid, praising the unity involved in the application: "to have Canada, US and Mexico coming together for a joint project, already this is a positive message."

When will the draw be made?
The draw for the 2026 World Cup will likely be made in December 2025 once the qualifying campaign is completed for all the confederations.

The expansion of the World Cup to 48 teams will ensure that each continent is represented at the tournament, with each confederation getting an increase in the number of qualifying teams.

This means that Oceania (OFC) will have one guaranteed place at the World Cup, having previously seen its best team forced to enter a play-off with another confederation to qualify.

Confederation 2026 Teams 2022 Teams
AFC 8 4.5
CAF 9 5
CONCACAF 6 3.5
CONMEBOL 6 4.5
OFC 1 0.5
UEFA 16 13
Play-Off 2 -
Total 48 31 + host
When does qualification start?
The qualifying process will be altered by many confederations for the 2026 World Cup due to the increased number of teams that progress from each continent. This may result in a change of when the first round of qualifiers take place compared to previous tournaments.

The qualification campaign proper will finish in October 2025, by which time 46 teams will have sealed their place in the final tournament.

Two places will be decided via a play-off system which will contain a team from each confederation. The play-offs are due to take place in November 2025.

What is the competition format?
The 2026 World Cup will have 48 teams in the group stages, consisting of 16 groups of three teams. In total there will be 80 games from the group stage through to the final. The groups will be labelled alphabetically from Group A to Group P.

Two teams will advance from each group meaning 32 teams progress to the knockout stage. These teams will face off in the usual format with the winners of one group facing the runners-up of another. They will then progress to the round of 16 and onwards to the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final.

As in the current 32-team tournament format, teams from the same group will be kept apart until the final to ensure that there is variety in each match until the last four stage.

When do tickets go on sale?
You'll be waiting a long while for these yet. World Cup finals tickets are sold exclusively through FIFA these days and tend to go on sale less than a year before the tournament.

The ticket sales process for the 2018 World Cup, for example, started in September 2017. So it will be 2025 by the time tickets go on sale.

World Cup 2026 broadcasters
In the United Kingdom, broadcasting rights are once again shared between BBC and ITV as they have been for previous World Cups.

Due to the fact the 2022 World Cup was moved to the winter and thus impacted on FIFA's television deal with Fox, they were automatically awarded the rights to the 2026 World Cup in the United States. They will broadcast the games in English while Telemundo will deliver them to Spanish-speaking audiences.

In 2015, it was announced that CTV, TSN and RDS would continue to broadcast the World Cup in Canada up to and including the 2026 tournament,

World Cup 2026 controversy
There has been some controversy over the expansion of the World Cup to 48 teams, with Germany manager Joachim Low opposing the decision as it would let inferior nations qualify and the quality of the matches would suffer.

"The sporting value can not be diluted although I understand the smaller nations who could enter the big stage in this way," Low told Welt am Sonntag in 2016.

He also expressed concern over the fact that an expanded tournament would have more games and thus would increase player fatigue after long seasons with their clubs: "We must be aware that the quality will suffer in the long run. We must not overdo it."

Some commentators also pointed to the fact that three-team groups would mean that final group games were not played simultaneously, and the two teams would know what result was needed in the last game and force a certain outcome to benefit both teams.

Google HQ: The tech firm beats revenue, profit expectations in Q2

Google shares rose about 8 percent in post-market trading after blowing past analyst expectations in Q2 and announcing a $25 billion share buyback.

The company reported revenue of $31.7 billion, nearly $1 billion above Wall Street’s consensus expectation.

Analysts were also worried the company’s advertising business would continue to slow, but revenue growth of 19% surpassed the 15% consensus estimate.

The key numbers:

Net Revenue (excluding traffic acquisition costs): $31.7 billion, up 20.8% year over year, and higher than the $30.84 billion that analysts expected.

Earnings per share: $14.21, compared with $11.19 expected by analysts.

Total advertising revenue: $32.6 billion, compared with $28.1 billion last year.

Capital expenditure: $6.1 billion, compared with $5.4 billion during the same period last year.

The earnings results come days after the US Justice Department announced an anti-trust investigation into “online platforms.”

The Tuesday announcement wiped out $33 billion worth of market cap from Facebook, Amazon, Apple, and Google.

Health / Uproar Inside Togo Hospital As Strange Bird Allegedly Flies Into Facility & Turn by imeyalo09: 5:04pm On Jul 18, 2019
There is currently a heightened debate about the existence of witchcraft in this day and age, following a video in circulation online which sows a serious pandemonium involving both health workers and patients of a hospital caused by a ‘witch’.

According to a Facebook user, Dennis Larbi who posted the video, the chaos erupted after a mysterious bird flew into a hospital in Togo and then turned into a woman.

The video shows a certain woman standing in-between hospital birds, wrapping around herself a white material believed to be a designer polythene bag.

Both the health workers and patients, as well as their relatives, are also seen gathered at one side shouting and hurling all sorts of words at the woman in a cacophonous fashion while filming her at the same time.

The woman is also seen attempting to fight back by hurling the ‘white designer polythene bag’ at her ‘attackers’.

The video fell short of the entry of the said bird and its metamorphosis into the woman in question.

It has since sparked a strong debate among some social media users after Dennis Larbi posted it with a caption: “A bird fell into the hospital and changed into a woman in LOME – TOGO I can’t believe this GOD.”

Some people have been expressing disbelief in the story, claiming witchcraft does not exist, while some few others hold the view that it could be true.

The conclusion to HBO’s fantasy epic enraged fans but still trounced the competition, with “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” — Amazon’s story of a 1950s housewife-turned-stand up comic — a distant second on 20 nominations for the small-screen equivalent of the Oscars.

“Thrones” was already the most decorated fictional show in the awards’ seven-decade history, and now has 161 nominations, according to the Television Academy website.

HBO’s acclaimed drama “Chernobyl” placed third with 19, ahead of perennial Emmys powerhouse “Saturday Night Live” on 18.

The Television Academy’s 24,000 members sifted through a record number of entries for this year’s Emmys.

Final-round voting will now begin to pick winners who will be revealed at a glitzy Los Angeles show on September 22.

Politics / Ned Nwoko Regina Billionaire Hubby Loses Case To Peter Nwaboshi At Supreme Court by imeyalo09: 7:46am On Jul 17, 2019
The Supreme Court today, Tuesday July 16th, dismissed the two suits filed by billionaire businessman and husband of actress Regina Daniels, Ned Nwoko, challenging the election of Senator Peter Nwaoboshi as the PDP candidate representing Delta North district in the October 2nd 2018 primary of the party held in Delta.

The five-man panel of justices led by Justice Inyang Okoro, dismissed the suit for lack of jurisdiction. The Federal High Court in Abuja had in April declared Ned Nwoko as the true candidate of the PDP for the February 23, 2019 National Assembly election.

However on April 3rd, the Court of Appeal in Abuja reversed the High court’s ruling which sacked Senator Nwaoboshi as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Delta North Senatorial seat.

Ned Nwoko then filed a motion at the Supreme Court to challenge the decision of the Appeal Court, but has now lost the case.

Celebrities / 'I Am Under Pressure To Re-marry' - Nollywood Actress, Damilola Adegbite by imeyalo09: 8:59pm On Jul 07, 2019
In a recent interview with BBC Pidgin, Damilola Adegbite talked about Marriage, Relationship and God.........

Nollywood actress, Damilola Adegbite, whose marriage to Ghanaian actor, Chris Attoh hit the rocks a few years ago said she’s not ready to remarry now and would rather take her time to rest and wait on God.

The ex-Tinsel star stated that her marriage and relationship should be left to her alone to handle.

“These people won’t let me rest. I was advised to settle down, I tired it and it didn’t work out. I had thought that after my failed marriage, people would let me be. But I goofed. They are still on this marriage case. Everyone should learn to mind their business, there are other things going on around the world at the moment.

“Let that love wait (laughs). Life at 34, it is so sweet. As I get older, I’m becoming fresher and aging backwards. I pity anybody that wants to pay my dowry and marry me now. You would have to sweat it out. But surely enjoy it all,” she gushed.

Asked if she reached out to her former husband over the loss of Jennifer Bettie, his wife, Adegbite, who has a son for Chris Attor before they parted ways, said:
“Why not? He’s my son’s father, so I just had to. I don’t have a choice. I believe that whatever happened between us was destined to be. On this particular issue, someone’s life was involved, so, it’s very sensitive. No matter what happened between us, it is not good to wish someone dead. Chris was part of my life, so why won’t I reach out to him?”

On her kind of man, she said further:
“I need a God fearing man, who is also hardworking. He should have everything that a woman wants. Love needs to be appreciated and blossomed so it can give its benefits in return. My ex is a good man but I need to be treated royally, because I am a queen.”

Some Nigerians have expressed their shock over the choice of housemates in the ongoing fourth season of the Big Brother Naija reality show.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the season kicked off on Sunday with 21 housemates, most of whom some viewers have described as “more foreign than Nigerian.”

Respondents said that it was puzzling how Manchester-based Mike, London police office Khafi and Ike, who said this was his first one in Lagos, made the cut while thousands of Nigerians flooded audition centers in February.

“That should have been made clear to them from the start. Big Brother Phonetics. It appears this is Big Brother Nigeria Diaspora.”

@BabaRoyan tweeted, “Too much handpicking! The connection is the main thing to strive In Nigeria! While The main people who went for d audition wea selected to become #BBNaija NINJAs.”

@Ibidunmary said, “I said it to someone all those people jumping the fence, crossing hurdles to make it to the audition none of them is in the house, all these ones are imported.”

@DesmondAyotunde wrote, “I doubt if most of these contestants in the house really participated in the audition.”

Meanwhile, Instagram sensation, SimplyTacha who was the last housemate announced on Sunday, has remained a strong talking point for the viewers as she was recognizable from several audition clips.

@DrOlufumnilayo said, “If truly Simply Tacha is in the house this year, then that’s a smart move by the organisers.

“She is a game winner. I won’t be surprised at all if she makes it to the Top 3. Mark this tweet.”

Education / JAMB Unveils New Method Of Registration by imeyalo09: 10:15pm On Jun 30, 2019
The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says starting from 2020, candidates will register for its examinations with their National Identity Management Number (NIM) to solve the challenges of multiple registration.

Dr. Fabian Benjamin, Head of Media of the board made this known at a one-day capacity building workshop organised by the National Examination Council (NECO) for education correspondents in Keffi, Nasarawa on Friday.

Benjamin, who spoke on the topic: “Understanding Reporting in the 21st Century”, said the development would be facilitated through partnership with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).

According to him, experience has shown that malpractice in the conduct of public examination, especially the UTME, actually begins with the registration exercise.

“Four days ago, we cancelled results of four candidates because of examination malpractices we discovered after the examination.

“The board is on top of the situation as it has the determination and technology in place to forestall attempts at compromising the registration process.

“An intrinsic part of the strategies adopted by the board is ensuring that its registration period is kept very short.”

He said that the registration of candidates would now take 30 days instead of a longer period to contain the chances of fraudsters’ strategies to circumvent the process.

Benjamin also appealed to parents to desist from encouraging their children to commit examination malpractices.

On biometric challenges, he said the board had planned to ensure that by 2020 the issues of biometric problems in the course of registration would be over.

“In 2018, we have about 24,490 biometric challenges but we have been able to bring this down to 22 in 2019; but if we are able to stand on our ground by 2020, we will not have any biometric challenges,” he said.

He added that no Computer Based Test (CBT) centre would be used for the conduct of its examinations except those centre whose administrators were the owners of the CBT centres.

Speaking on the challenges of impersonations in examination, Benjamin said multiple registrations, if not checked, was an easy way to impersonate a candidate.

He noted that the board, in conforming to international best practices, would take care of people with special needs through the ICT capacity building and empowerment programme.

Politics / Workers Begin Nationwide Strike July 3 by imeyalo09: 9:11pm On Jun 30, 2019
Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) will begin a nationwide strike on Wednesday, July 3, after the expiration of a two-week strike ultimatum issued by the union on June 13 over non-payment of stevedoring contractors.

Mr Abdul-Waheed Adeyanju, the President-General of MWUN made this known in a statement issued in Lagos on Sunday.

According to him, the leadership of the union has directed that members of the union shall withdraw services throughout the nation’s seaports effective from 06.00 hours on Wednesday, July 3, 2019.

Adeyamju said that the two-week notice issued on this subject lapsed on Friday, June 28, saying that there was no indication that the issue was being addressed.

He said that the union had given the International Oil Companies (IOCs) two weeks’ notice concerning the matter.

The News Agency of Nigeria NAN (NAN) reports that the union gave a two-week ultimatum on June 13 pleading with the Federal Government to urge IOCs to pay government-appointed stevedoring contractor monies being owed.

Adeyanju had urged the Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Transport to look into the issue so that dockworkers could be paid their salaries and wages.

He said that failure to pay government-appointed stevedoring contractors for jobs done had made it impossible for their workers to be paid salaries.

According to him, the situation had led to untimely death of members.

“Dear stakeholders, we want to use this medium to intimate you and the Federal Government of the non-payment of the stevedoring wages to dockworkers by the International Oil Companies (IOCs) operating in Nigeria.

“On June 1, 2018, the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) appointed stevedoring contractors to provide stevedoring services at various off-shore jetties and on-shore locations to the International Oil Companies and other operators.

“It will be necessary to inform you that NPA had held several meetings with these operators to grant access to the government-appointed stevedoring contractors, process their invoices, and effect payment,’’ Adeyanju said.

According to him, unfortunately, the operators refused to comply with NPA’s directive one year after the stevedoring contractors were appointed.

“We commend the managing director and management of NPA for the efforts they had made to compel the IOCs to engage the services of appointed stevedores and registered dockworkers in their stevedoring operations.

“A stakeholders’ meeting was held on Feb. 28, 2018 organised by NPA in Lagos to sensitise IOCs, jetty owners, and terminal owners,’’ Adeyanju said.

NAN reports that the NPA management made it clear that in line with Section 27 OF NIMASA Act, 2007 only government-appointed stevedores and registered dockworkers are empowered by law to solely handle, discharge and embark on loading operations at the ports, jetties and oil platforms.

Adeyanju wondered why the IOCs refused to cooperate with the newly-appointed stevedoring contractors since the modus operandi remained the same.

The union boss said that while dockworkers were awaiting the payment of their wages, they could no longer meet their family obligations like payment of house rents, children’s school fees and hospital bills, among others.

Adeyanju said, “We can no longer continue to watch our members die prematurely because of the attitude of the IOCs.’’

Celebrities / Stefflon Don Speaks About Getting Engaged To Burna Boy by imeyalo09: 12:54pm On Jun 27, 2019
UK rapper, Stephanie Victoria Allen better known by her stage name, Stefflon Don in recent times has been more open and vocal about her relationship with “African Giant”, Damini Ogulu popularly called Burna Boy whom she has been dating for a number of months now.

The “Fire In The Booth” crooner in a recent interview with Los Angeles radio station, Power 105.1. has opened up on how she and the “Dangote” crooner met in Ghana after a missed flight.

Speaking to the media outlet, she said she missed her flight while on a trip to Ghana and decided to attend a show where Burna Boy performed.

“I met him in Ghana. I was in Africa for a show then I missed my flight, he had a show where he performed and I went to the show and the rest is history baby. He told me I was going to be his wife and you know how boys always talk shit, but I didn’t remember he said that but he told me and I was like wow.”

Opening up further, she disclosed that her BET winner partner told her people would soon see her wearing an engagement ring.

“I’m not one of them crazy bitches I know he’s gonna see this interview later and say ‘What da f**k’ like I’m the wife. Next time I’m gonna have a ring… I mean he told me so, I’m not just making it up.”

It is noteworthy that this would not be the first time that the couple would hint at the possibility of an engagement. A few months ago during an interview, Burna Boy said Stefflon Don was his wife and he didn’t blink when he professed his love for her.

Again, during an interview with Ebro on his show ‘Beats1’ on Hot 97 FM in the United States of America. The On-Air personality wanted Burna Boy to clarify his relationship status with Stefflon Don and he responded.

“On a more serious note, that’s my wifey. If you wanted a wifey, she’s like the most perfect person with that perfect description. Unfortunately, she’s mine now…”

Burna Boy recently clinched the Best International Act at the 2019 BET Awards that held last week.
