Well, I have been an ADMIN officer in two firms in Lagos and now a logistics mgr in a Facility Maintenance Company. Those things sounds flimsy but are sometimes important to the employers.

The story sounds skewed or twisted, otherwise they ought to tell him/her why the engagement was nullified.

Intellectuals and the good people of nairaland. I just experienced one of the biggest shocks of my life.

As a student of the federal university, I saw a publication for the post of a front desk at a big cyber cafe close to the north wing of our school gate. I applied and followed the recruitment exercise which took 3 weeks of test and interview.

Out of 15 of us that applied for the job of 25k per month, I was picked. I loved it because it only start from 4pm till 9pm. Normally our lectures is from 7am till 1pm. I was happy because it will help me save for my school fees and I hoped to liaison with the students there to learn graphic designing. A skill I love but finance is a burden to enrol and to get a PC.

I was told to resume on Monday. I went there in the evening and the owner came and say my services are no longer needed. I was shocked. I asked him what I did? He didn't answer me. It was the other staff, the manager that told me he will communicate it to me. From Monday till now, I didn't hear from them.

Please, what should I do? I am confused. For those who had similar experience what was your cause. I am so so sad with this. My hope is dashed.

1. Its your first day, why didn't you go earlier?

2. How did you dress?

Just save yourself the stress and ask the manager. They owe you an explanation.

But, I think that its more realistic and rational for you to meet someone you know (face to face) and seek for help or favour rather than asking online.

If it was a fundraising platform for e.g for a cancer patient in which certain protocols have being established even offline, then that would feel genuine and the giver would even derive some sort of psychological satisfaction that he helped a genuine help seeking person(s).

Maybe nairalanders dontt have money to help people.

I have noticed for some few years now (although, the number has increased drastically in recent time) that every time people post topics on this great forum, there is always someone amongst the top 10 comments seeking for help financially.

People most times ignore them because they feel the request isn't genuine or done by some group or person with the intention to exploit people online.

I had the same issue with my Airtel line. On getting to their office, a close friend of mine working at Airtel ( in Eket, customer support office) told me that the issue was that my NIN number wasn't validated yet by NIMC on their database.

Na there wahala start, because I had to go back to the NIMC outlet I registered with.

Las las, after disturbing them, NIMC validated and I went back to confirm at Airtel office, which they also confirmed.
