So he can have at least 2 years visa. He can then later proceed to applying for a permanent resident permit

If they have done court wedding, let him apply for spousal visa. The requirements for spousal visa are on the home affairs website. Note spousal visa is different from relative visa.

My wife's friend mother was issued a visa last two weeks, it was quite an easy ride for her. This stuff is grace atimes, the VO was just jovial all the while, like Mama, where you dey go? make I see all those papers,........okay, go collect your passport for this place tomorrow (circling the white paper). Passport has been picked up from UPS isolo already.

Now, this is it! If the conference is self-sponsored, let him add a BUSINESS-SENSE to the trip!
