Good day, I'm interested contra: Welcome to the abroad. You didn't indicate visa you came in with. I'm assuming student? You usually can't do any work without your NI and you require DBS for only a few jobs. You can do volunteer jobs for a few weeks as you have been advised and that will count as part of your UK experience. I wish you all the best.
NB- I have a 5 page document i titled "First 5 years in the UK as a Nigerian Expatriate (Migrant)". Although it's for skilled workers, others may find it useful. Let me know via pm if you need it. |

Wrong quote TheGuyFromHR: For part-time jobs, try Royal Mail (Angard Staffing - I think they should have started their Christmas casual recruitment about now), Amazon (pay is good these days, up to 12 quid or so), for full-time jobs; Indeed.com, Totaljobs, and https://jobs.theguardian.com/ (for those who remember Tuesday Guardian in the late 90s and early 00s), the supermarkets as usual (browse and apply online and try walk-ins to local branches), and see if you've got a Reed or Blue Arrow in Leicester, walk in there, and where all else fails, let your husband try an SIA certification then work security, Xmas is coming up and there will definitely be demand. |

Venerable612: Nice thread.
Problem with all these startups is the copy cat ish. Nothing is really disruptive about their offering. They seem to be offering same value with little tweaks; when they can actually innovate and do something entirely different and offers greater value. Otenzy: Hello house, good morning.
I have been unemployed since I finished Nysc last year and I am slowly losing my mind. Meanwhile, I trade forex to an acceptable degree of profitability. The problem is capital.
Now my question is “will it be adviceable to collect a loan for trading?”
Since job hunting is not forthcoming don't take a loan to trade, don't even try it, it will put you under pressure, which will lead to overtrading, then total loss. |

itsme01:

Naija people.sef, Caverton and OAS would use their helicopter to pick you up at anywhere, and their charges aint so outrageous.
An hour charter of helicopter is around 250 - 300k with top charter company like Caverton, other smaller company would collect far less especially if you are a frequent flier or your company has ofshore contracts.
One village maga quoting me down there even said $12,000 per hour... mugu plenty for naija i swear.... execujets starts at $3k -$5k for a fixed wing private jet, before qouting me to argue nonsense please be reasonable and get a qoutation on the chater companies websites. No time for childish arguements.
. A friend of mine is a helicopter pilot at caverton, it's around 10k usd per hour |

I have seen 20k+ profit turn to loss Nigerians doing us proud, hope one of them wins the first price, those Chinese guys are not smiling. Good luck to everyone participating. |
