Going through comments here just makes me sad! What is clear is that our standard of education is declining everyday. Youths who're supposed to be leaders of tomorrow can't even read and comprehend very little things. I want to believe nairaland is not a true representation of the intelligence of the average Nigerian youth. The level of dumbness here is so alarming. For God's sake it's a normal practice in election tribunal matters for both the petitioner and the respondent to seek the permission of the court to mandate INEC to allow unhindered inspection of materials used for the election. It's usually the first step in election petition, it allows the petitioner to put his case together and submit before the tribunal and also allows the respondent to prepare his defence ahead of time. |

They're obviously more conscious and politically aware than we the Southerners Even Apga won a seat in Taraba. Truely, those guys are more politically conscious. |

From the way the north voted in this election, i don't mind if any party,Pdp or Apc controls any state. The north have shown clearly that they're more interested in personalities than parties. Any sound candidate can win election in the north in 2023 regardless of which party is governing in the state. Gradually the north is taking us into the era of candidates rather than parties,i urge the south to key in immediately. By 2023 parties will be mindful of the kind of candidates they present before the people, knowing the consequences of fielding a tainted candidate or a non performer. |
Politics › Re: Edo People To Put An End To Oshiomole Godfatherism In Edo State by Indispensable85(m): 2:57pm On Mar 13, 2019 |
Edodefender I sorry for you, because you're in for a ruthless heart attack. Which OBASEKI are you voting out? I'm not sure you're talking about Godwin Obaseki. It must be one Obaseki in Abia or somewhere in your village. Just recently he led the Apc to a historic victory in the house of assembly election where the party cleared an unprecedented 24/24 seats in Edo state for the first time ever in Edo politics. That victory was a referendum on the performance of Obaseki in Edo state, because he told the people he wanted an Apc dominated assembly to continue his work smoothly and they gave it to him overwhelmingly . Since 1999,Obaseki is the most loved governor in Edo state across the three senatorial district. Even with the Stirling performance of oshiomhole in his first tenure he was only able to deliver 20/24 for the then ACN in the assembly election. As we speak today Obaseki has no opponent as far as 2020 Edo election is concerned, he will most likely clear the whole 18 local govt areas in the state by next year. I challenge you to name anyone from the pdp that can stand Obaseki in next year's election? Finally I'm challenging you to a bet of #200k from me and #50k from you,Obaseki will win his re-election handsomely and overwhelmingly next year. |

Congratulations to dino melaye, but I'm not sure he will enjoy the 9th Senate the way he did under Saraki leadership. I expect him to apply more wisdom this time,so that he doesn't do half of his tenure under suspension. The 9th Senate may likely be a rubber stamp with core Apc members in position of leadership. He might not get the kind of protection he got in the 8th Senate. |

Looking at all the state's in Nigeria across party line, I'm just thinking what the impact of the governors has been in the various states in the federation since 1999. We focus so much on Abuja, if you look at the monies each state in Nigeria has received viz a viz the development in those states, you'll understand that our governors are criminals across party lines. |

Politics › Re: Likely Winners In States Where Elections Are Inconclusive by Indispensable85(m): 9:26am On Mar 12, 2019 |
I think Benue and plateau are won and lost already. As for Kano, sokoto, bauchi the margins are small compared to cancelled votes. So the both parties still have a good chance of winning it.I'm sure Adamawa will go to Pdp. |

SaintLucia: Point of correction, Tinubu left AD and form his own political party known as AC "Action Congress" which later changed its name to ACN "Action Congress of Nigeria" and he later merged it with ANPP and CPC which gave birth to APC. Tinubu like Buhari never decamp to any political party, they left their first party and form their own party. So stop misleading people here if u don't know the political history of Nigeria political parties. Majority of people here are just too dull. They don't know anything and you see them arguing everywhere. He would rather insult you than learn. |

smeag0l: Governors have been announced in 20 states so far. APC won 13 and PDP won 7. This is good for democracy. However, these governorship elections also show how the north is more sophisticated in terms of elections and voting patterns than the south. They vote individuals based on their clean slate and not based on party sentiments. This is why ganduje , saraki and others can lose elections while people like Orji Kaulu and Ibori still dictate for their people in the south. And for those of you who don't have PVC's but come here to rant on how results are being written in the north, please check the gubernatorial results of each northern state announced to see the consistency in numbers with that of the presidential elections irrespective of the party that won. These guys carry election matters on their head but we in the south sit down in our houses and use our calculators to vote and when it doesn't turn out as we permuted, we accuse a party of writing results. Brilliant write up! |

Kennydoc: Ganduje cannot come back. If as an incumbent governor, he could not consolidate on Buhari's win (plus APC's win of all the legislative seats) in Kano 2 weeks ago to beat Abba Yusuf hands down, then he has lost it. If 50% of the voters in the cancelled PUs turn out in the rerun, APC will need to win over ⅔ of all the votes in the 100 PUs to emerge victorious. I've gone thru the results in all the 44 LGAs. It's in only one LG that APC polled more than ⅔ of the votes. In most other LGs where they won, they won marginally. Let's not forget that PDP beat them hands down in many other LGs. Ganduje is gone bro. You can bet on it. My guy don't bet on anything in Nigeria ooooo. We'll just pray that the powers that be will allow the people's will, otherwise they can upturn it with ease. |
