Episode 27

Jane and Maureen emerged from the flat. They walked to the gate and stood there.

"thank you very much for paying me a visit." Jane said.

"it's nothing. at least, I enjoyed my time here" Maureen responded.

"I'm glad you did" Jane said.

"I hope you have arranged your stuff already. we are returning to school this weekend. school resumes next week" Maureen said.

"I have no plan of resuming next week. I will resume the upper week. I still have a lot to do here" Jane responded.

"don't even think of it. we are resuming next week. You of all people know that the penalty for not being in school when semester begins is 1 semester rustication." Jane said.

"I don't think that law will be enforced" Jane said.

"it will o. you better don't even try to break any of the school rule. we are going back to school this weekend" Maureen said.

"okay, okay, I have heard you. we are returning back to school this weekend." Jane responded.

"better" Maureen said.
"let me start leaving"

"okay, thanks once more for visiting me" Jane said.

They hugged each other and Maureen left.

Jewel sat on a sofa in the sitting room, playing video game. He was so engrossed in the game that he didn't realize when a knock sounded on the door. The door opened and Jane walked in. She went to sit beside Jewel on the sofa.

"Jane!" Jewel called.

"my Jewel, I will miss you. I will miss you a lot." Jane said, sadly.

Jewel stared at her confused. He didn't understand why she was suddenly saying that.

"I'm going back to school this weekend. We are resuming next week. We were given just 2 weeks vacation. I would have spent one more week with you, but you know this private universities and their strict rule. I will be penalized if I'm not in school when school resumes." Jane said.

"we are resuming the upper week. our vacation is also 2 weeks." Jewel responded.

"I will miss you very much, my Jewel. I will miss you so much" Jane said and rest her head on Jewel's shoulder.

Angel sat on a sofa in the sitting room, watching a programme on t.v. A knock sounded on the door. She stood up and went to the door. she opened the door to see Jane.

"Jane!" she called.
"please come in"

Jane entered the sitting room and went to sit on the sofa. Angel sat down beside her.

"Angel, I'm going back to school this weekend." Jane said.

"have you guys resumed already?" Angel asked.

"we are resuming next week. we were given just 2 weeks vacation." Jane said.

"okay, I see. our break is just for 2 weeks also" Angel responded.

"Angel, please take care of my Jewel for me" Jane said.

Angel stared silently at her. she didn't understand why Jane was saying that to her.

"why are you not saying anything?" Jane asked when Angel didn't respond.

"sure, I will take care of him for you" Angel responded.

"thanks very much" Jane said.

"you are welcome" Angel responded.

"also make sure he doesn't look at any other lady in school" Jane said.

"Jewel won't do that" Angel responded.

"I know. I'm just joking. I trust Jewel" she said, smiling.

The new week came sooner than expected. Jane had already returned to school. Jewel and Angel weren't always seen together, most especially because Jessica was always busy. All Jewel does was to play video game from morning till night. He doesn't even bother reading his book.

Jewel sat in the sitting room, playing video game as usual. A knock sounded on his door.

"come in, the door is open." he said without taking his gaze on the screen.

The door opened and Angel walked in. She walked to the sofa and sat down. Jewel paused the game he was playing, when he saw her.

"Angel, how are you?" Jewel asked.

"Jewel, I'm scared." Angel said, instead.

"why are you scared?" Jewel asked.

"we are resuming next week" Angel responded."

"is that why you are scared?" Jewel asked.

"why won't I be scared? Have you forgotten that you have a case to settle with the school authority" Angel said.

"you don't have to be scared. nothing will happen." Jewel assured her.

The truth was that, he was also scared, that was why he spent most of his time playing video game, to take his mind off his worry.

"I pray so too" Angel responded.

"join me, let's play together" Jewel said.

"I don't know how to play" Angel responded.

"let me teach you" Jewel said.

"no thanks" Angel responded.

Jewel playfully pulled her to sit with him.

"I said, I don't want to" Angel said, smiling.

"you must learn" Jewel said.

"okay, okay" Angel responded.

Jewel gave her the game controller and showed her how to play the game.

"it's a football game" Angel said.

"yes" Jewel responded.

"okay, who am I playing against?" Angel asked.

"you are player against Liverpool. your team are the once on black." Jewel responded.

"okay, let's begin the game" Angel said.

"you have to win o." Jewel said.

"don't worry, I will win. you have to trust me" Angel responded.

"I trust you." Jewel said.

"okay, start the game." Angel said.

Jewel pressed the start button and the game began immediately. it didn't take up to 3 minutes for Angel to concede 4 goals.

"I thought you said you will win?" Jewel asked, laughing.

"I can still win the match. it's not over yet" Angel responded.

"but you are already 4 goals down" Jewel said.

"nothing is impossible" Angel responded.

"okay, I'm watching" Jewel said.

Angel continued the game and within 3 minutes, 2 more goals had been scored.

"it seems I will have to assist you" Jewel said, laughing.

"no, don't assist me. I can still win the game" Angel responded.

"you are already 6 goals down" Jewel said.

"nothing is impossible" Angel responded.

"come on let me assist you. you can't win this game on your own." Jewel said and held her hands. He held her hands from behind, which made her back to rest firmly on his chest.

"now, let's play the game" Jewel said.

Angel immediately lost concentration on the game. Jewel's face was so close to hers, which made her a bit uncomfortable. Their faces were just an inch away from each other. She could feel his heartbeat. She took a side glance at Jewel and realized that his attention was only focused on the game. Jewel suddenly turned to face her, and saw her already staring at him. They stared silently at each other. The room suddenly became too hot, even with the air conditions.

Angel suddenly stood up from her seat.

"I'm leaving. see you later" she said and left without waiting for Jewel's response.

Jewel stared at the door, confused. He wondered what he could have done wrong.

All through that week, Angel never visited Jewel in his house again. All their conversation were done through phone calls and text messages.

Episode 26

Angel alighted from a cab in front of their gate. she went to the boot and carried the stuff she went to get from the market. She settled the cab man and approached the gate. She placed her hand on the gate handle to open the gate, but the gate immediately opened from within. She froze went the saw Jewel standing at the gate. Jewel too couldn't hide the surprise look on his face when he saw her. They stared silently at each other in shock.

"Angel!" Jewel called, surprised

"Jewel!" Angel called.

Jewel hugged her immediately. He hugged her tightly. He freed her and stared into her eyes. He seemed very happy to see her. Same couldn't be said for Angel. She didn't look happy to see him. The fact that Jewel might be the same person Jane was talking about was why she was not happy.

"Angel, what are you doing here?" Jewel asked.

"This is my new home" Angel responded.

"wow! are you serious? This is so unbelievable. I live in the next compound." Jewel said.

Angel stared sadly at him, knowing fully well that Jewel is the same person Jane was referring to.

"that's nice" Angel responded.

"That means we will be seeing each other often now" Jewel said.

"do you know Jane?" Angel asked.

"yes I know her. have you met her already? I hope she is nice to you" Jewel said.

"Are you guys very close?" Angel asked.

"she is my friend. My childhood friend" Jewel responded.

"Is she just a friend or your............... never mind" she said, instead.

She thought it was none of her business.

"Angel you don't know how happy I am to see you" Jewel said.

"I'm very happy to see you too." Angel responded.

Jane suddenly emerged from her flat and walked to meet them at the gate.

"wow! you guys have met already. okay, let me officially introduce you guys." she said and faced Jewel.

"Jewel, this is Angel, my new friend and neighbor"

She turned to face Angel.

"Angel, this is Jewel. He is............."

"Jewel is my course mate" Angel cut in immediately.

Jane paused for a while, before she finally spoke.

"wow! you guys knew each other already. what a small world. Angel this is my Jewel. The one I was telling you about. my boyfriend. my everything." Jane said, smiling.

"Jewel is a nice guy. you are lucky to have him." Angel responded.

Jane quickly planted a kiss on Jewel's lips. Jewel froze when she did that. He wasn't expecting the kiss from her. it came to him unaware. He took a side glance at Angel to see her reaction.

"I will leave you guys now. I have to drop the things I brought back from the market" Angel said, masking the disappointed look on her face with a smile.

She couldn't explain why, but she felt disappointed when Jane kissed Jewel. Maybe she was disappointed because they couldn't wait for her to leave first before doing whatever they wanted. Why would they have to do it in her presence.

"okay, you can go ahead. see you later." Jane responded.

Angel left their presence without sparing them one last glance. Jewel stared continuously at her retreating figure until she went into her flat. He didn't seem to be happy too.

"I'm leaving also." Jewel said.

"okay, my Jewel. see you later." Jane responded.

Jewel left the compound, while Jane walked back into her room.

Angel sat on a sofa in the sitting room, reading a novel. She wasn't reading the novel because it was interesting, but to distract herself from things that might make her unhappy.

A knock suddenly sounded on the door. She dropped the novel and approached the door. She opened the door to see Jewel standing at the door. She stared at him, surprised.

"Je.....Jewel" she stammered.

"can I come in? I need someone to talk to" Jewel said.

"sure, come in. you can talk to me" Angel responded and gave way for him to enter.

Jewel entered the sitting room and sat on the sofa. Angel sat down beside him.

"what's the problem? you don't look happy" Angel asked.

"Do you remember the lady I told you broke up with me for another guy in her school?" Jewel asked.

"yes, the one you paid a surprise visit in her school, only to realize that she has another boyfriend." Angel responded.

"That lady is Jane" Jewel said.

Angel paused and stared silently at Jewel for a while.

"how is that possible? you guys don't look like you broke up already. She doesn't even look like she can dump you for another guy" Angel said.

"she actually did dump me, but she claimed she did it to protect me." Jewel responded.

"how?" Angel asked.

"she said that the guy I met with her the day I visited is a cultist, and would have harmed me if she had told him that I'm her boyfriend. She denied our relationship just to protect me" Jewel explained.

Angel took a deep breathe.

"she could be telling the truth" Angel said.

"but why didn't she call to inform me all this while?" Jewel asked.

"I don't know, but what I know for sure is that Jane truly love you. she can do anything just to protect you. She speaks highly of you" Angel said.

"that's the problem. I don't think I love her anymore. The feelings I have for her has faded already. I don't feel anything for her anymore. That's why I came here to seek for your advice." Jewel said.

Angel sighed and stared deeply into Jewel's eyes.

"Jewel, I can't tell you what to do. you should be the one to decide what you want. You should sit down alone and think this thoroughly. whatever decision you will make, you should make sure it won't be the one you will regret later. And whatever decision you reach, you should make sure that you are truthful to her. do not deceive her, because if you do, I will break your head. she seems to be a nice lady and I like her already." Angel advised.

Jewel's face curved in a smile by just listening to Angel speak.

"thanks very much Angel. I will think it through carefully before deciding what I want." Jewel said.

"you are welcome" Angel responded.

"I will take my leave now" Jewel said.

"okay" Angel responded.

Jewel stood up and left the sitting room, while Angel went into her room.

Jane sat on a sofa in the sitting room watching a programme that was being displayed on the t.v. A knock sounded on the door and her attention diverted to the door immediately.

"could that be Jewel" she said.

She stood up and went to the door. She opened it to see a lady of her age, standing at the door.

"Maureen!" she called, surprised.
"what are you doing here?"

"I decided to visit you, since you have refused to pay me a visit" Maureen said.

"please come in" Jane said.

She entered and Jane offered her a seat.

"what can I offer you?" Jane asked.

"nothing for now. I'm angry with you" Maureen responded.

"why na?" Jane asked.

"my house is just 10minutes drive from here, but you have never for once paid me a visit since we returned from school." Maureen said.

"I'm very sorry. I have been busy, that's why" Jane responded.

"anyway, that's aside. why did I see Jewel leaving the compound when I walked in? Are you guys back together?" Maureen asked.

"yes o, we are back together" Jane responded, happily.

"but how come? I was there with you in school when you dumped him, by introducing Dan to him as your boyfriend. what did you now tell him that made him accept you back?" Maureen asked.

"I told him that I was only protecting him. I told him that Daniel is a cultist and would have harmed him if I introduced him to Daniel as my boyfriend." Jane responded.

"This is the biggest lie I have ever heard. Dan a cultist. Dan that doesn't even look like someone that can kill a fly" Maureen said.

"that's the only thing I could come up with for Jewel to believe me" Jane responded.

"now that you and Jewel are back together, will you break up with Dan?" Maureen asked.

"no, I won't break up with him. Daniel will continue being my boyfriend when I'm in school, but once I return home, Jewel will take his rightful place in my heart. I don't really like Daniel. Jewel is my one and only true love. I'm just being with Daniel because he has money and is ready to spend it" Jane responded.

"wow! you sure know how to play this game. but what if Jewel find out that you lied to him" Maureen said.

"how will he find out? who will tell him? I'm sure he will never visit me again in school, after telling him that he might get hurt" Jane responded.

"but I feel sorry for Dan. The guy is a nice guy and deserved to be treated well." Maureen said.

"don't I treat him well? I take care of him and also pretend to be in love with him" Jane responded.

"but until when will you keep deceiving this two guys?" Maureen asked.

"until we graduate from the university. Once we graduate from the university, I will break up with Daniel and focus only on my Jewel. By then, Daniel would have outlived his usefulness. but for now, I can't dare to lose him, because his gift and money keep me going" Jane responded.

"hmmm. babe, you are too much." Maureen praised her.
"you can get me a drink now"

"okay dear" Jane responded and went to the fridge.

Episode 25

A cab pulled to a stop in front of a black gate. Angel alighted immediately and went to the boot to get her luggage. She settled the cab man and he drove off. She turned and stared at the gate before her.

"my new home" she said.

She dragged her luggage into the compound. The first person she saw when she entered the compound was Jane. She was sitting on a bench in the compound. She was too engrossed on her phone that she didn't notice Angel's presence. Angel stared at her from a distance. she suddenly looked up from her phone to see Angel staring at her. Angel approached her immediately.

"hi" Angel said.

"hi" Jane responded.
"do you leave here?"

"yes, the new tenant" Angel responded.

"oh! you are our new tenant. welcome to our house" Jane said.

"thanks" Angel responded.

"your parent moved in last week. why are you just moving in now?" Jane asked.

"we just vacated for the semester. I'm coming straight from school." Angel responded.

"okay, I see. I returned from school just last week also." Jane said.

"oh! okay" Angel responded.

"welcome to your new apartment once again." Jane said.

"thank you" Angel responded.

"by the way, I'm Jane"

"I'm Angel" Angel responded.

"I thought as much. you look so much like an Angel" Jane said.

"you are gorgeous too" Angel responded, smiling.

"you can come to meet me whenever you are less busy, let me take you round the area. You need to get familiar with your new environment." Jane said.

"wow! that will be nice. thank you very much. I really appreciate it" Angel responded.

"you are welcome" Jane responded.

"okay, see you later. let me take my luggage to my room" Angel said.

"okay" Jane responded.

Angel dragged her luggage to their flat, while Jane busied herself with her phone.

Jewel sat in the sitting room playing video game. His phone suddenly started ringing. He took it from the table and picked the call.

"hello Francis" Jewel said.

"Jewel, you left school without telling me." Francis said.

"I'm sorry bro. I forgot to tell you. I just had to leave school earlier." Jewel responded.

"why? what was the school panel's decision?" Francis asked.

"nothing has been decided yet. my fate will be decided when we resume next semester." Jewel responded.

"okay bro. you will overcome this. I'm very sure of that" Francis said.

"yes, I will" Jewel responded.

"okay na, take care" Francis said.

"okay, thanks for the call" Jewel responded and ended the call.

He dropped the phone back on the table and continued playing his game.

Angel and Jane sat on a bench in their compound, discussing and laughing out loud at interval. Anyone who saw them would think they had known each other for a very longtime. They got along very well.

"so tell me Angel. do you have a boyfriend?" Jane asked.

"well, I don't have a boyfriend for now, but there is this guy in my class, I really like. We didn't get along well at first, but as time went by, I realized he is a nice guy. I know he likes me too, but he hasn't said anything to me yet. let's wait until next semester to see how things go" Angel responded, smiling.

"This guy must be very lucky to have someone as beautiful as you, tripping for him." Jane said.

"sure, he is" Angel responded.

"I want to be the first person you will break the news to when he finally ask you out" Jane said.

"trust me na. once he says those words to me, you will be the first person I will call to inform." Angel responded, still smiling.
"what about you? do you have a boyfriend?"

Jane's face curved in a smile when Angel asked her that.

"yes o, I have a boyfriend. He is my everything, my world, without him i'm nothing. he is so kind, loving and intelligent. And most importantly, he is very handsome." Jane responded, smiling broadly.

"this your boyfriend must be very special to you" Angel said.

"yes, he is very special. you won't understand what I'm talking about until you meet him" Jane responded.

"I will like to meet him one of these days" Angel said.

"you will meet him today. He lives in the next compound. wait let me invite him over" Jane responded and brought out her phone.

She dialed Jewel's number and placed the phone on her ear.

"hello Jane" Jewel's voice sounded at the other end.

"my Jewel" Jane called, smiling.

Angel froze immediately Jane mentioned Jewel. she stared at her in shock. She quickly waved the thought aside.

'it can't be the Jewel I know. It's not even possible.' she thought.

"how are you, my Jewel?" Jane asked.

"I'm fine and you?" Jewel asked.

"I'm fine too" Jane responded.
"my Jewel, are you at home?"

"yes, I'm at home" Jewel responded.

"can you come over to my place. I want to tell you something"

"okay, I will be there in 5 minutes" Jewel responded

"okay, I'm waiting" Jane said and ended the call.

Angel's phone started ringing immediately Jane ended the call. she picked up immediately.

"hello mum............ yes I'm still at home............... right now?.............. okay I'm on my way" she responded and ended the call.

She turned to face Jane.

"I'm sorry, I have to leave now. my mum is waiting for me at the market. she wants me to come and carry the things she bought back home" Angel said.

"that means you won't get to meet my boyfriend." Jane said.

"maybe I will meet him tomorrow" Angel said.

"okay, no problem" Jane responded.

"see you later" Angel said.

"see you too" Jane responded.

Angel stood up and left the compound.

Few minutes after Angel left, the compound gate opened and Jewel walked in. He saw Jane sitting on a bench and walked to meet her.

"hi" Jewel said.

"my Jewel" Jane called.

"you said you have something to tell me" Jewel said.

"I actually wanted to introduce you to my new friend, but she left already." Jane responded.
"have a seat"

Jewel didn't sit down. He stood at the same spot staring at her.

"Daniel is the name of that guy I saw with you the day I visited you in school, right?" Jewel asked.

"yes, his name is Daniel" Jane responded.

"and you said he is a cultist" Jewel said.

"yes he is." Jane responded.
"but why are you asking, my Jewel?"

"nothing, just that I also have a course mate whose name is Daniel. He is our course rep and also a serious minded student. He is nothing like the Daniel in your school. He is very serious and knows his reason for being in school, unlike the Daniel in your school who has misplaced his priority by joining cult." Jewel said.

"just because one Daniel is nice doesn't mean every Daniel will be nice. let's forget about this comparison and talk about something else.......... no, let's go to my room I want to show you something" Jane said and stood up.

She held Jewel's hand and pulled him to her room.

Jewel was seen in his room arranging his clothes in his bag. He was planning of going home. He couldn't wait until weekend anymore. He just wanted to leave his room. His door suddenly opened and Angel walked in. she paused when she saw Jewel arranging his clothes in his bag. She became scared. she slowly walked to meet Jewel.

"what are you doing? why are you arranging your clothes in your bag. I hope it's not what I'm thinking." Angel said, curiously.

"I'm going back home. I can't be in this room anymore." Jewel responded.

"what about the school panels? what did they say to you? what's your fate?" Angel asked.

"The semester has almost come to an end, so I can't face the panel right now. I will face the panel when we resume next semester. that's when my fate will be decided." Jewel said.

Angel held his hands and stared into his eyes.

"we will overcome this. I'm very sure of it. just have faith" Angel assured him.

"yes I believe. I'm not guilty. nothing will happen. I will resume with my mates next semester." Jewel responded and zipped his bag.

"yes, that's the spirit" Angel said.

"I will start leaving now. I don't want Henry to meet me here. I really don't want to see his face right now" Jewel said.

"yes, I understand" Angel responded.

"I'm changing my hostel once I resume next semester. I can't be in the same hostel with such a person" Jewel said.

"yes, that's what you should do" Angel responded.

"okay, see you next semester" Jewel said.

Angel hugged him immediately. she hugged him tightly.

"I will miss you. I will miss you a lot." Angel said.

"I will miss you more" Jewel responded.

Angel freed him and stared into his eyes.

"we will resume together next semester" Angel said.

"yes we will" Jewel responded.

"okay, let me see you off" Angel said.

"okay" Jewel responded.

Angel assisted Jewel in carrying his luggage and they left the room together.

A cab pulled to an abrupt halt in front of a black gate. The cab man quickly alighted and went to the trunk. He opened the trunk and brought down the luggage in it.

"oga, we have reached your location." He said.

Jewel quickly alighted from the cab.

"I'm sorry. I didn't know we are here already" he said.

He had been sleeping all the way back home and didn't even realize that he had reached his destination. He was very tired. The drive back home was rough. He settled the cab man and he drove off. He stared at the gate with smiles on his face.

"mum, dad, I'm back home." he said.

He opened the gate and dragged his luggage into the compound. It's a compound that houses four flats. The compound was very silent and no one could be seen around.

"as usual. everyone is in their flats." he said and dragged his luggage to their own flat.

He stood at the door and heaved a sigh of relief.

"finally, I'm home" he said and knocked on the door.

Few seconds later, the door opened to reveal a woman in her early forties.

"Jewel!" the woman called, surprised.

"mum" Jewel said.

Jewel's mum hugged him immediately.

"welcome home my son" she said.

"thanks mum" Jewel responded.

"I have missed you so much" she said.

"I miss you too mum" Jewel responded.

"please come in and rest. you must be very tired." she said and assisted Jewel in carrying his bag into the sitting room.

Jewel entered into the sitting room and sat down on the sofa.

"mum, where is dad?" he asked.

"he has not returned from work" his mum responded.

"okay" he said.

"I hope your exams went well" his mum said.

"yes mum" he responded.

He was not ready to break the bad news to his mother.

"okay son, let me get you something to eat. I know you must be very hungry." he mum said and went to the kitchen.

Jewel carried his luggage and went straight to his room.

Angel lay on her bed and stared at the ceiling. She looked very sad. several thought were on her mind. She stood up from her bed, brought out her bag and started packing her stuffs in it. The door suddenly opened and Jessica walked in. she saw Angel packing her things into her bag and approached her.

"what are you doing?" Jessica asked.

"I'm going home" Angel responded.

"I thought you said you won't leave until weekend" Jessica said.

"I changed my mind" Angel responded.

"it seems I will start leaving also, because I can't be in this room all alone." Jessica said.

Angel continued with what she was doing. she suddenly paused and faced Jessica.

"what will be the fate of Jewel if found guilty?" she asked.

"according to the rules and regulation on our exam pass. possession of unauthorized materials in the examination hall is 2 semesters rustication, while smuggling of answer booklet into the examination hall is expulsion. So it depends on which one Jewel is found guilty of" Jessica responded.

Angel suddenly became weak. she stopped what she was doing and sat on her bed.

"I know Jewel won't be found guilty of any of those. I know that for sure. He has a bright future ahead." she assured herself.

Jewel sat in the sitting room, watching his favorite programme on tv. His parent has gone out, so he was all alone in the house. A knock sounded on the door, distracting him from the programme he was watching.

"who could that be?" he mumbled.

He stood up and went to the door. He opened the door and froze immediately. standing before him was Jane, his childhood friend and first love, who dumped him for a richer guy in her school. He stared at her in shock. He never believed he would ever see her again after what she did to him.

"My Jewel!" Jane called and immediately hugged him.

"I miss you so much, my Jewel. This few months without you had been hell for me." Jane said.

Jewel stared at her, surprised.

'was it not this same Jane who broke my heart some months ago. why is she suddenly acting nice?' He thought.

"my Jewel, I miss you so much. I returned last week from school, and ever since, I have been waiting for you to return also. Thank God you are finally back." Jane said.

"I thought you broke up with me already. Why are you suddenly acting nice?" Jewel asked.

"no o, I can never break up with you. you are my everything. I only said what I said back then to protect you." Jane responded.

"protect me, how?" Jewel asked.

"Daniel is a member of a cult group. He had been trying to date me, but I kept turning him down. He warned all my friends to stay away from me, because he thinks they were the reason why I kept turning him down. He threatened to harm anyone he sees close to me. As we speak now, I don't have any close friend in school, all because of Daniel. I dare not tell him that you are my boyfriend, when you visited. if I did, you wouldn't have returned home safely. He would have inflicted injuries on you. I don't know what I would have done if he had harmed you. I only said that to protect you. you are my Jewel. I can't let anyone harm you. I can't bear to see even a scratch on your body." Jane said.

Jewel suddenly became weak after what Jane narrated to him.

'so Jane didn't actually broke up with me. she was only protecting me.' he thought.

"all this while, I thought you have ended our relationship" Jewel said.

"I can't do that. my life will be miserable without you. you are my everything." Jane responded.

"okay, you can come in now" Jewel said and gave way for her to enter.

Jane planted a kiss on his lips first, before entering the sitting room.

Episode 23

Angel stood outside the hall, waiting for Henry to leave the examination hall, so that she could give him a piece of her mind. She was very furious. Students were already leaving the examination hall, but Henry was yet to come out. She paced up and down. Henry emerged from the hall few minutes later and walked towards the gate. Angel sighted him and rushed to meet him. She blocked his way and glared at him. Henry stood still and stared at her. He knew very well that Angel was going to blame him for what happened to Jewel.

"how could you? how could you do this to your friend. how could you be this wicked?" Angel barked.

"Angel, do you actually believe that I did that to Jewel. I'm not heartless." Henry said.

"oh spare me that nonsense. Don't you dare defend yourself, because I know you did this to Jewel." Angel barked.

"how can I do such a thing, when I know very well that it might ruin his future. that's inhuman. I can get angry easily and say harsh words, but that's all I can do. I can never do anything to harm someone" Henry said.

"you are not only a wicked person but also a bloody liar. I wonder why Jewel didn't see the kind of person you are, all this while" Angel said.

"Angel, I didn't do it. you have to believe me." Henry said.

"I will rather believe the devil than believe you. infact, you are no different from a devil. If Jewel hasn't believed you, he wouldn't have ended up in this mess." Angel responded.

"your words are really hurting me" Henry said.

"I wish I can do more than that. I wish I can do something to you that will make you feel the same pain I'm feeling right now." Angel responded.

"this is really sad" Henry said, sadly.

"what's going on here?" They heard behind them.

They both turned to see Jessica standing few steps away from them. She heard Angel screaming at Henry from afar and approached them.

"what's going on here?" Jessica asked again.
"Angel, why are you screaming at Henry"

Angel didn't respond. she just stared from Henry to Jessica, back to Henry. She turned and walked out on them.

Jessica walked closer to Henry and stared at him.

"what's wrong? why is Angel mad at you? what did you do to her?" Jessica asked.

"she thought I was the one that implicated Jewel" Henry responded.

"but why will she think that?" Jessica asked.

"that's because I'm Jewel's roommate and have access to his belongings. I know Jewel will think same way about me. everyone thinks I'm a bad guy" Henry said, sadly.

Jessica held his hands and stared deeply into his eyes.

"I trust you, Henry. I know you will never do such a thing." Jessica said.

"thank you Jessica. thanks for believing me" Henry responded.

"where are you going from here?" Jessica asked.

"I don't know" Henry responded.

"then let's go to the garden and rest. I think we need the rest, after such a hectic day" Jessica said.

"okay" Henry responded.

They head straight to the garden, holding each other hands.

Jessica sat quietly beside Henry in the garden. They were still holding hands. They sat down quietly for a while, before Jessica finally spoke.

"I don't think Jewel smuggled answer into the examination hall." Jessica said.

"I believe Jewel didn't do that. someone else must have done that to implicate him. I'm sure that whoever did that, is not only targeting Jewel, but also targeting me, because he always make me look like the culprit. He does it so well that all his evil deeds always point to me as the culprit." Henry said.

"who do you think is doing all this?" Jessica asked.

"I don't know for sure, but I think it's Daniel" Henry responded.

"why do you say that?" Jessica asked.

"because everything that's happening also revolves around him. First, it was Jewel's missing assignment. I submitted the assignment to him, but the assignment got missing. I'm sure that he removed the assignment from the rest. Next, Jewel fell sick because he ate the food I gave him. that was the same day he drank wine with Daniel." Henry explained.

"this is serious. so what will you do now?" Jessica asked.

"I won't just sit back and watch him. He is trying to kill two birds with one stone. I must do something. I will look for a way to expose his crime." Henry responded.

"you need to be very careful. I don't know what I will do if anything happen to you" Jessica said.

"you don't have to worry. nothing will happen to me." Henry responded.

Daniel was the last person to leave the hall. He was waiting for everyone to leave, so that he could lock the doors and return the keys to the H.O.D office, because that was the instruction given to him. He locked the doors and went straight to the h.o.d office to drop the keys. He seemed to be very happy. He dropped the keys and walked to the restroom. A lecturer who saw him on the way, stopped him and asked him why he was smiling broadly.

"my exam today was great, that's why I'm happy" Daniel responded.

"that's good. it shows that you studied very hard." the lecturer said.

"yes sir" Daniel responded.

"okay, keep it up" the lecturer said.

"thank you sir" Daniel responded.

The lecturer walked ahead, while Daniel continued to the restroom. He got to the restroom and stood at the entrance. He observed his environment to see if there was anyone around. When he realized that there was no one around there, he entered the restroom and locked the door from within. He went straight to the basin and glared at his reflection on the mirror hanging on the wall. His face suddenly curved in a smile and he burst into laughter. He laughed so hard that his eyes became red. He suddenly stopped laughing and glared at his reflection on the mirror.

"I warned you. I warned you several times, but you disregarded my warnings. now this is what you get for disregarding my warnings. Let's see how you will get out of this. I'm very sure that you life is ruined now. if you had listened to me why I asked you nicely to stay away from her, all this wouldn't have happened. I warned you several time, but you didn't listen. I sent you warning messages continuously, but you disregarded it all. I even went as far as removing your assignment from the rest to send you a message, but you still ignored. I even add some content to your drink as a warning, but you still proved stubborn. Now look at what you have made me do. you deserved it, for being so stubborn. I'm very sure you can't get out of this. Jewel, your life is ruined." he said and burst into another laughter.

He suddenly stopped laughing and glared once more at his reflection on the mirror.

"now that Jewel is out of the way, I will focus on Henry. once I take him out of the way also, Angel will be mine alone." he said and resumed his laughter.

He laughed so hard that tears started dropping from his eyes.

Episode 22

It's been 2 weeks since they began their first semester examination. Jewel was very happy with the exams he had done so far. He was so sure he would make 'A' in all the exams he had written so far. He has just one paper left to write. He sat on his bed, revising his note. He dropped the book and stared into air. He heaved a sigh of relief.

"so the semester has almost come to an end. That means by weekend, I will be returning back home. My last paper is tomorrow, and it's the most difficult of them all. It involves lot of calculations and drawings. I will be needing my calculator and mathematical set this time around. I can't wait to go home. I need to see my parent. I haven't seen them for a long. I will also miss my friends here. It has been a great time here, and I wish to continue it next semester." He said.

A knock on his door brought him back to reality.

"come in, the door is open" Jewel said.

The door opened to reveal Angel, standing at the door. Jewel sat up properly and stared at her.

"Angel!" Jewel called.

"Jewel" Angel said and walked into the room.
"can I sit?"

"sure" Jewel responded.

"thanks" Angel said and sat down on the bed.

The room suddenly became silent. Jewel slowly turned to face Angel, and saw her already staring at him. He fixed his gaze on her and they stared silently at each other. After staring silently at each other for a while, Jewel took his gaze off her. He took a side glance at her and realized that she was still staring intensely at him. The room suddenly became uncomfortable for him. He didn't like the atmosphere in the room.

"Jewel!" Angel called.

"yes Angel" Jewel responded.

"what's you plan after our last paper?" Angel asked.

"I'm going back home. I miss my parent and can't wait to see them." Jewel responded.
"do you have any plan after the exam?"

"I'm going home also. I miss my parent too" she said, smiling.

"sure you do" Jewel responded.

Her mood suddenly changed.

"I will miss you Jewel" she said, sadly.

Jewel stared silently at her. Those words came to him unaware.

"I will miss you too" He finally responded.

Angel's phone suddenly started ringing. she brought it out from her purse and stared at the screen.

"my mum" she said and picked the call.
"hello mum, good evening...............I'm fine and you........... I'm writing my last paper tomorrow, so I will be returning home this weekend................ you have relocated.............When? why?.............thank God for that.............. okay, send me the new address.......... love you mum.....bye" She said and ended the call.

Angel fixed her gaze on her phone screen. Jewel noticed the expression on her face.

"what's wrong?" Jewel asked.

"my mum just told me that we have relocated to a new area. My dad got a new job in a different area, so we had to relocate to a place closer to his work." Angel explained.

"I see, that's good. that means you will be going to a new environment." Jewel said.

"yes" Angel responded.

"that's good." Jewel said.

"I will be leaving now" Angel said.

"okay, see you in the examination hall" Jewel said.

"see you too. I know you will murder tomorrow's exam" she joked.

"I'm prepared for it already. my calculator and maths set are already intact" Jewel responded.

"I trust you na. okay, let me be going" Angel said.

"okay" Jewel responded.

Angel gave him a quick hug and left his room. Jewel's mood suddenly changed immediately Angel left. He became a bit sad. He stared at his door continuously.

"I'm sorry Angel. what we both want cannot happen. It will make me look like a backstabber. I wish it didn't have to happen this way. I wish it happened earlier." he said.

He lay on his bed and sigh in frustration.

Everyone sat quietly in the examination hall solving the questions before them. The only materials that could be seen on their desk were the question papers, answer script, calculator, maths set and pen. All other materials are unauthorized and not allowed into the examination hall. Students were sitting at reasonable distance away from each other. About seven invigilators could be seen in the hall monitoring any student who dare to turned his or her head. Jewel sat quietly at the far left, solving the questions. Though the questions were technical, but he was so sure he would pass in flying colours. He had already come across some of the questions, so he didn't find them difficult to solve.

The hall door suddenly opened and an invigilator stormed in.

"everyone stop writing. stand up and take two steps away from your seats" The invigilator ordered.

Everyone stood up immediately and moved two steps away from their seats.

"I just received an information that someone smuggled answers into the hall. We will search everyone right now and whoever smuggled answers will be severely dealt with" The invigilator continued.

'who will dare smuggle answers into the exam hall, knowing fully well what the punishment is' Jewel thought.

The invigilators in the hall moved from seat to seat searching everyone. An invigilator got to Jewel's seat.

"let me see what's in your pocket" the invigilator said.

"nothing sir, just my wallet" Jewel responded and gave him his wallet.

The invigilator opened the wallet, but found only a key and some money in it. He gave Jewel back his wallet. He searched Jewel thoroughly but didn't find anything.

"step aside" the invigilator said and went to Jewel's desk.

He took the calculator on Jewel's desk. He opened it but didn't find any thing suspicious. He dropped the calculator and took the maths set. He opened the maths set and a folded paper fell from it. Jewel's eyes widen in shock when he saw the paper. He was sure he didn't put that there. He prayed silently that the paper should not contain anything that would implicate him.

"what's this?" the invigilator asked and picked up the paper.

He unwrapped it and stared at the paper.

"so you are the culprit" the invigilator barked.

Everyone in the hall turned to their direction immediately the invigilator said that.

"no sir, that's not mine" Jewel defended himself.

"will you keep shut" the invigilator barked.

All other invigilators approached them immediately. Before Jewel could say anything, his question paper and answer script were collected from him and a malpractice form was placed in his front for him to fill.

"but sir, I .........."

"will you fill the form now" another invigilator barked.

He knew very well that once he filled that form, he would have to face the school panels and the outcome won't be favourable.

After much pressure, he finally filled the form and was dragged out of the class.

The exam continued smoothly and additional time was added to make up for the one lost.

Angel sat quietly on her sit, staring into air. She couldn't continue the exam. She was still in shock at what just happened in the hall. She knew every well what would happen to Jewel. She stared at her question paper with teary eyes. Her mind had suddenly gone blank and couldn't concentrate again. She stood up, took her answer script which still have some unanswered questions and submitted it. She left the hall immediately.

Episode 21

The class was almost filled. Everyone sat down quietly waiting for the lecturer to arrive. Angel, Jessica and Lucy were sitting at the far left. Francis and Henry were occupying the back seat.
Jewel walked into the class few minutes later with a swollen face. He quietly went to the far right and sat down. The lecturer walked into the class immediately Jewel settled down. He went straight to the podium and faced the class.

"I believe you have all seen the first semester examination timetable. Your exams begin in two weeks time and I hope you are all ready for it. This will be the last time we will be meeting, because next week is your lecture free week. I will advise you to revise all what you have learnt, because questions will be set from your note. That being said, let's proceed to today's topic" He said and walked to the board.

The lecture went on smoothly and when lecture was over, the lecturer gave them some areas of concentration in the exam, before leaving the class.

Angel hurried to meet Jewel immediately the lecturer left the class and sat beside him. she held his hands and stared into his eyes.

"what happened to you? why is your face swollen?" Angel asked, feeling concerned.

Jewel took a side glance at Henry and realized he wasn't looking at their direction.

"I fell" he lied.

He didn't plan of telling Angel what really happened to him, because the last time he did, it didn't end well.

"how come? Are you sure about that, because it looks like someone punched you." Angel said.

"no one punched me. I fell. who will dare punch me." He responded.

"let me take a proper look at it." Angel said and examined Jewel face.
"have you taken drug?"

"no, but I will visit the medical centre when returning to my hostel." Jewel responded.

"let's go to the medical centre now. you need drug to subside the pain." Angel said.

"I will do that when returning to my hostel." Jewel responded.

"no, let's go now" Angel insisted.

"okay" Jewel responded.

They stood up and approached the door. Henry stared at them continuously until they left the class.

Lucy walked into the school restuarant to see Francis having lunch at the far left. she walked straight to meet him and sat opposite him.

"Francis, are you avoiding me?" she asked immediately without greeting him.

"no, why will I be avoiding you?" Francis asked.

"I realized that for some weeks now, you haven't spoken to me. And you also leave class immediately after lecture. you can't tell me that you are not avoiding me, because it's obvious that you are. so tell me what the problem is" Lucy said.

"do you want to know?" Francis asked.

"yes tell me. I want to know. don't keep me in the dark" Lucy responded.

Francis held her hands and stared into her eyes.

"Lucy I'm in love with you" Francis said.

Lucy stared silently at him for a while. she slowly freed her hands from his hold and stared into his eyes.

"I'm sorry Francis. I don't think I feel same way for you. you are my friend and that's all." Lucy said.

Francis nodded. He already knew what would be her response. He just wanted to confirm it.

"I'm very sorry Francis." Lucy said, stood up and left the restuarant.

Francis continued eating his food. He didn't even look like someone who just got turned down. He already knew what the outcome will be. He just had to tell her, so that he could move on with his life. He left the restuarant when he was done eating.

Jewel lay on his bed trying to get some sleep, while Henry sat on his, reading a novel. A knock sounded on their door and they both turned their attention to the door. The door opened to reveal Angel at the door. Jewel and Henry stared curiously at her.She walked into the room and went straight to meet Jewel on his bed. Jewel sat up immediately. He wasn't expecting her, and actually didn't want her to be there, because her presence might stir up trouble between him and Henry.

"what are you doing here" Jewel asked, curiously.

"I came to check up on you" Angel responded and sat down beside Jewel on his bed.

She was carrying a handbag. She didn't even bother looking at Henry's direction.

"have you eating? I brought food for you to eat" Angel said.

Henry stood up from his bed immediately Angel said that and stormed out of the room, slamming the door behind him.

"you shouldn't have done that. I would have gone to the restuarant to have dinner" Jewel said.

"why not just say thank you instead of complaining. you just made all my efforts look useless" Angel said, feeling a bit sad.

Jewel noticed the look on her face.

"I'm sorry. Thank you very much." Jewel said.

"okay, you can eat the food now" she said and brought out the food.

"why are you doing this? why are you taking care of me?" Jewel asked.

Angel paused immediately Jewel said that. She dropped the spoon she was holding and stared at Jewel.

"nothing, I just thought it's the right thing to do." she said and stood up.

"you can eat the food when you feel like. I'm leaving" she said and left Jewel's room without waiting for a reply.

Jewel stared continuously at the door in confusion as he couldn't understand what he had said or done wrong, because Angel's mood suddenly change.

Episode 20

Jessica rushed into Jewel's hostel. she walked from door to door until she got to Jewel's door. she entered the room and was shocked when she didn't see Jewel in the room. She brought out her phone and dialed Angel's number, but it was switched off. She turned and left the room immediately.

Jane was seen pacing up and down in the waiting room of the medical centre. she seemed very nervous. She walked to a seat and sat down.

"what's delaying them? I have been waiting here for 3hours and no one has said anything to me. what's really going on" she mumbled.

She stood up and continued pacing. After pacing for some time, she went back to sit on the seat she was previously occupying. She bent and rested her head on her thighs.

"hey Lucy" she heard her name.

She quickly raised her head to see Jewel standing in her front. She stood up immediately and hugged him tightly.

"thank God you are okay. I was very worried." Lucy said.

"Thanks for bringing me here" Jewel said.

Lucy freed him from her hold and stared into his eyes.

"what did the doctor say happened to you?" Lucy asked.

"he said that I ate contaminated food." Jewel responded.

"but how come? what did you eat?" Lucy asked.

"I ate rice, and I drank some wine." Jewel responded.

"you should be careful of what you eat." Lucy said.

Jewel nodded in affirmation

"you must be very hungry now. let's go and eat" Lucy said.

"what about the quiz?" Jewel asked.

"it must have ended already. I believe someone would replace you. come on, let's go and eat." Lucy said and pulled Jewel away from the medical centre.

Angel stormed into Jewel's room to find it still empty. Jessica had earlier rushed back to the hall to inform her that she didn't meet Jewel in his room. She couldn't concentrate on the quiz when Jessica informed her that Jewel was missing. All her thought was on Jewel's whereabout, and it eventually led to her poor performance in the quiz. She didn't bother when the quiz result was announced. she just rushed down to Jewel's hostel to confirm for herself. She stood at the entrance, staring at Jewel empty bed. She searched for her phone on the bed, but couldn't find it either.

'how will I contact him now to know where he is.' she thought.

She suddenly realized that Jewel might have gone to the medical centre.

"yes, he must have gone to the medical centre before Jessica arrived." she said.
"I need to go to the medical centre right now."

She turned and left the room immediately.

Jewel and Lucy sat opposite each other in the school restuarant. Their meal had just been placed on the table.

"okay, let's eat" Jewel said.

Lucy took her spoon and tried to feed Jewel, but Jewel stopped her.

"what are you doing? i'm not sick anymore. I can feed myself" Jewel said.

"I know. I just want to do it" Lucy responded.

"we are in a restuarant. it looks awkward. people are watching us" Jewel said.

"let them watch. who cares. I just want to take care of you for today" Lucy responded.

"I'm very grateful, but I'm fine now" Jewel said.

"okay let me just feed you one spoon" Lucy insisted.

"just one spoon" Jewel said.

"yes" Lucy responded.

Jewel opened his mouth and Lucy fed him.

"thanks" Jewel said.

"you are welcome" Lucy responded, smiling.

"can I have my spoon now?" Jewel asked.

"sure" Lucy responded and handed Jewel the spoon.

They ate their food silently, and when they were done, they left the restuarant together.

Angel lay quietly on her bed. She wasn't in a good mood. she was in her room alone. several thoughts occupied her mind. Her major concern was Jewel's whereabout. she had search everywhere possible in school but couldn't find him. she was lost in thought.
A knock on her door brought her back to reality. She turned her direction to the door.

"come in, the door is open" she said.

The door opened to reveal Jewel standing at the entrance. Angel froze when she saw him. She stood up from her bed immediately and ran to hug him. she hugged him tightly. After hugging him for a while, she freed him, held his both hands and stared into his eyes.

"thank God you are okay. I was so worried." she said and hugged him tightly again.

Jewel stared at her, surprised at the care and affection she was showing him. He never expected such affection from her.

Angel freed him and stared deeply into his eyes. She pulled him to her bed and they both sat down.

"what happened? I told Jessica to come and take you to the medical centre, but when she got to your room, you were not there" Angel said.

"Lucy took me to the medical centre, before she arrived" Jewel responded.

"but how did Lucy know that you were not feeling fine?" Angel said.

"she only came to my room to wish me success in the quiz, only to realize that I wasn't feeling fine" Jewel responded.

"I see. thank God that she came when she did. but what did the doctor said was wrong with you?" she asked.

"He said that I ate contaminated food" Jewel responded.

"contaminated food! what did you eat last night, and where did you get it from?" Angel asked.

"I ate rice, and I also drank wine. The rice was given to me by Henry. He said Jessica gave it to him. Daniel brought the wine to my room for us to celebrate our in advance, before the quiz. I think the fault was from the rice because Daniel drank the wine with me." Jewel said.

"I was there when Jessica gave Henry the rice, and it was the same rice I ate. so it definitely can't be from the rice" Angel said.

"who knows, Henry might have added something to the food before giving it to me." Jewel said.

"but why would he do that?" Angel asked.

"to make me miss the quiz of course." Jewel responded.

"does this have to do with the fact that he things we are dating?" Angel asked.

"maybe" Jewel responded.

"I think I have to confront him. I have to set things straight with him. I have told him before that I'm not ready for any relationship. maybe this time I will be blunt with him" Angel said.

"no please don't approach him. don't make things worst than it is. I will look for a way to deal with this." Jewel said.

"okay" Angel responded.

"so how was the quiz?" Jewel asked.

"It didn't go well jor. Daniel replaced you, and we came third. I know we would have done better if you were there." Angel said and hissed.

"at least you did your best" Jewel said.

"I didn't even concentrate on the quiz" Angel said.

"let's forget about that. next year, we will do better." Jewel said.

"okay" Angel responded.

"I will take my leave now." Jewel said.

"okay, see you in class tomorrow" Angel responded.

Jewel stood up and left her room. Angel waited for some minutes and left her room also.

Angel sat quietly at the garden waiting for Henry. She had called him on phone to meet her there. She couldn't take what was going on lightly again and needed to set things straight. She was going against Jewel's plea.

Henry walked into the garden few minutes later. He went straight to meet Angel.

"Hi"he said, smiling.

Angel stood up immediately and glared at him.

"so it has come to the extent that you now have the gut to harm your roommate. I think I need to make this clear to you. I don't like you and will never do. no matter what you do, I will never date you. so don't you try to harm Jewel. if you do, I will report you. I won't say this again." she warned.

Henry stared at her in shock. He didn't understand why Angel was saying all that to him.

Angel glared at him one last time and turned to leave. she stopped and turned back to face him. she felt she didn't say enough to him.

"for your information, Jewel and I are dating. He is now my boyfriend. so I won't allow you to harm him" Angel said.

Henry froze when she said that. He stared angrily at her.
Angel left his presence immediately she said that. She did what was on her mind, and that was to make Henry angry. She wanted to pay him back for trying to harm Jewel and that was the best way she could think of.

Jewel lay on his bed, trying to get some sleep, but couldn't fall asleep. He picked a book and busied himself with it instead. His door suddenly opened and Henry stormed in. Henry rushed to meet him on his bed and forcefully dragged him to stand up.

"what are you doing?" Jewel asked.

Henry replied his question with a heavy punch on his jaw. Jewel fell back on his bed. He stared at Henry in shock. Henry rushed furiously at him immediately and punched him continuously on the face. After several punches on his face, Jewel managed to pushed him away. Henry staggered few step backward before gaining balance. They stared angrily at each other, breathing heavily. After staring at each other for a while, Henry finally spoke.

"you think you can take her easily away from me. you think I will just sit back and do nothing. You betrayal. Why must you go for the one you know I like. Out of all the girls in school, why must it be her? You deceived me and went behind me to steal my woman from me."He barked, still breathing heavily.
"don't think this is over"

Henry turned and stormed out of the room. Jewel stared continuously at the door, and couldn't find a clear explanation to what just happened.

Episode 19

The first person Jewel saw when he got to his hostel was Daniel. Daniel was waiting for him at his door. He stared at him in surprise, as he didn't understand what Daniel was doing in his hostel. Daniel stared back at him with smiles.

"hi" Daniel said.

"hi" Jewel responded.
"what are you doing here?"

"I brought drink" Daniel responded and showed Jewel the bottle in his hand.

"what for?" Jewel asked.

"for us to celebrate tomorrow's victory." Daniel responded.

"but it's not certain that we will win tomorrow's quiz" Jewel said.

"I believe in you and Angel. I know you guys will win it. that's why I brought this drink so that we can celebrate in advance." Daniel said.

"wow! I like you spirit. let's drink then." Jewel said and opened his door.
"please come in"

They both entered the room and sat on Jewel's bed.

"where is Henry?" Daniel asked.

"I don't know" Jewel responded.

"he could have joined us in this celebration." Daniel said.

"thanks for believing in us" Jewel said.

"you are welcome" Daniel responded

Jewel stood up and went to bring two glasses. He handed it to Daniel and Daniel poured the drink in it. Daniel raised a glass and Jewel did same.

"to tomorrow success" Daniel said and raised a glass.

"to tomorrow success" Jewel responded.

They down the content immediately. They poured more drink into their glasses and drank.
Daniel stood up to leave when they were done drinking.

"thanks very much for this. it gives me the courage I need." Jewel said.

"you are welcome. I will take my leave now." Daniel said.

"okay, see you tomorrow" Jewel said.

"see you too" Daniel responded and left the room.

Jewel lay on his bed to rest a bit.

Few minutes after Daniel had left, Henry walked into the room holding a food flask. He walked straight to meet Jewel and stretched the food flask to him.

"what's this?" Jewel said and sat up.

"Jessica gave me this food, but I already had dinner. I don't want it to waste, that's why I'm giving it to you" Henry responded.

"okay, thanks. I will eat it. I haven't had dinner yet" Jewel said and collected the food flask.

He opened it and started eating immediately.

It was the day of the quiz. Angel sat on her bed preparing herself for it. She was revision all what she had learnt. It was 8am already and the quiz would begin by 10am. She picked up her phone and dialed Jewel's number, to know if he was ready. She placed the phone on her ear and waited for him to pick up. It rang but Jewel didn't pick up. She dialed again but didn't get any response. After about 6 attempt, she finally gave up.

"what's wrong? why is Jewel not picking his call? Or will he have left already. He wouldn't have left without informing me, and moreover, it's still very early. we still have about 2 hours. I need to go find out what's wrong." she said, stood up from her bed and left her room.

Few minutes later, Angel was seen standing in front of Jewel's door. She knocked softly on the door and waited for response. She knocked again when she didn't receive any response, but got no response. She opened the door and entered to see Jewel still lying on his bed.

"don't tell me you are still sleeping when you have a quiz by 10am." Angel said.

She got no response from Jewel.

"come on get up now. we are late already. lazy boy" she joked.

she still got no response.
She moved closer to Jewel and tapped him. She paused when she felt the hotness from Jewel's body.

"what's wrong? why is your body so hot?" she asked.

She placed her palm on Jewel's neck and realized he was burning seriously. She shook him to wake up but he didn't.

"Jewel wake up" she said.

She shook him roughly when he didn't wake up. she became very scared.

"Jewel please wake up. what's all this" she said.

Jewel coughed and slowly opened his eyes. Angel heaved a sigh of relief immediately. She sat on the bed and placed Jewel's head on her thigh.

"Jewel what's wrong? what happened? you were fine when we left the garden yesterday." Angel said.

Jewel didn't respond. He just stared silently at her. He looked very weak.

"I have to take you to the medical centre right now" she said and stood up.

She tried to assist Jewel to stand up, but he held her back.

"the quiz" Jewel said, inaudibly.

"the quiz can wait. I have to take you to the medical centre right now." Angel said.

"we won't make it for the quiz if we go to the medical centre" Jewel muttered.

"I don't care. what matters to me right now is your health. every other thing can wait. your health comes first. please stop talking, let's just go to the medical centre." Angel said.

"you can go and represent our class for the quiz. one of us need to be present. I can go to the medical centre on my own" Jewel muttered.

"what! don't even try to tell me that. you want me to leave you here alone in this condition. I'm not moving an inch from here unless you agree to go to the medical centre with me" she said and sat down back on the bed.

She held Jewel both hands and stared into his eyes.

"why are you being stubborn. let's just go to the medical centre. can't you see how nervous I am right now. can you just do this for my sake." Angel pleaded.

"I really want to go to the medical centre, but I also don't want us to disappoint our class by not being at the quiz. At least one of us should be there. Why not rush to the venue of the quiz, and tell one of our friends to come assist me to the medical centre. I think that's the best option." Jewel suggested.

Angel considered the option for a while.

"okay Jewel, I will quickly rush and call someone that will assist you to the medical centre. just wait here" Angel said.

Jewel nodded in affirmation.
Angel stood up and walked to the door. she stopped halfway and walked back to meet Jewel. she stared deeply into his eyes.

"I will be back for you" she said.

"I know" Jewel responded.

Angel turned and hurried out of the room. she forgot to take her phone which she left on Jewel's bed.

The hall was already set for the quiz. All the contestants and panels where already on stage. The audience too were already occupying the seats in the hall.
Angel rushed into the hall and hurried to meet Daniel who was sitting among the audience. She squatted beside him.

"Angel what happened? the quiz is about to start and you guys are just coming now" Daniel said, immediately.

"someone else need to replace Jewel. He won't be able to make it here." Angel said.

"why? what happened to him?" Daniel asked

"he is not feeling fine" Angel responded and stood up.

She left Daniel and rushed to meet Jessica who was also sitting among the audience. She pulled her to one side of the hall.

"Jessica I need your help right now" Angel said.

"what is it?" Jessica asked.

"Jewel is not feeling fine. He is in his room right now. He needs someone to take him to the medical centre. I want you to go to his hostel and assist him to the medical centre. can you do that for me?" Angel asked.

"sure" Jessica responded.

"thank you very much. you can start going now. he really need medical attention" Angel said.

"okay" Jessica responded and left the hall immediately.

Angel stared nervously at the retreating figure of Jessica and prayed silently that nothing should happen to Jewel.

Jessica rushed into Jewel's hostel. she walked from door to door until she got to Jewel's door. she entered the room and was shocked when she didn't see Jewel in the room.

Episode 18

Jewel was seen alone in his room. He was lying on his bed. Henry was not yet back. A knock sounded on the door. He stood up from his bed and went to the door. He opened it to find Francis at the door.

"hey Francis" he said.

"I need your advice Jewel" Francis said.

"what is it? please come in." Jewel said and gave way for him to enter.

Francis entered and sat on Jewel's bed. Jewel sat down beside him.

"what is it Francis" Jewel asked.

"is it possible to date someone who sees you only as a friend. how can you let her know that you want to be more than just a friend" Francis said.

"why do you asked?"

"nothing, I just want to know" Francis said.

"Francis I can't help you if you don't tell me the truth." Jewel said.

"okay, it's Lucy. I like her. I like her a lot, but unfortunately, she only sees me as a friend." Francis said.

"it's very possible for her to see you differently, but it depends on how you go about it." Jewel said.

"what should I do then?" Francis asked.

"okay, listen carefully" Jewel said.

Francis moved closer to Jewel and listened with keen interest as Jewel lectured him on what to do for Lucy to start seeing him differently. Out of the numerous things that Jewel said, he took note of one important things. And that's, he should not be too predictable.
He left Jewel room with the aim of putting what he learned into practice.

Everyone sat down quietly in class, waiting for Daniel who said he has an important information to pass. Daniel walked into the class few minutes later. He went straight to the podium and face the class.

"I received an important information from 300 level students. There will be an intra departmental quiz next week. Two students are to represent each class. All other classes have already selected their two representative except for us. I don't know why our course adviser hasn't informed us of the quiz yet. There's no time anymore. we need to prepare for it. so I am suggesting we should vote right now to select the two students that will represent us." Daniel said.

Jessica tapped Angel who was sitting beside her at the far left.

"I thought you said that Dr. Femi has already chosen you and Jewel." Jessica said.

"yes, but he told us not to mention it to anyone." Angel responded.

"but they are about to select two students that will represent us." Jessica said.

"let them vote for who they want. if the course adviser still want us to represent the class, he will address the class" Angel responded.

"okay, if you say so" Jessica said.

They focused their attention back on Daniel who was still standing in front of the class.

They all voted, and at the end of the vote, Daniel and Henry were chosen to represent the class. They stood in front of the class and were applauded. Dr. Femi walked into the class a minute later. He went straight to the podium and faced the class.

"there will be an intra level quiz next week and two students will be selected to represent your class." Dr. Femi said.

"we have already done that sir" Daniel said.

"when?" Dr. Femi asked.

"just now" Daniel responded.

"whoever was chosen don't need to bother. I will select who will represent your class." Dr. Femi said.
"Jewel and Angel should stand up" he ordered.

Angel and Jewel stood up immediately.

"both of you will represent your class" Dr. Femi said.

The look on Daniel and Henry's face when Dr. Femi said that was not funny at all.

"so I want everyone to support them in anyway you can. A win for them, is a win for everyone." Dr. Femi continued.

Dr. Femi left the class immediately he passed the information.

Daniel walked to meet Jewel immediately Dr. Femi left and shook hands with him.

"congrats bro, I know you can do it" Daniel said, smiling.

"thanks" Jewel responded.

They all left the class after the announcement.

It's been 6days since Dr. Femi informed the class about the quiz. Angel and Jewel had been studying very hard for the quiz. They haven't received any strange message since then. Things went back to normal, and Jewel didn't feel threatened anymore. He thought the person threatening him might have realized that there was nothing going on between him and Angel.

The quiz was scheduled to hold the next day, meaning Jewel and Angel would be meeting at the garden for the very last time for their private study.

Jewel was already at the garden, waiting for Angel. He got to the garden exactly 6pm and had already spent 10minutes there. Few minutes later, Angel walked into the garden. She sighted Jewel at the far left and went to meet him.

"hi" she said and said down beside him.

"hi" Jewel responded.

"how long have you been waiting?" Angel asked.

"not too long" Jewel responded.

"are you nervous?" Angel asked.

"about what?" Jewel asked.

"about tomorrow quiz" Angel said.

"no, I'm not. we have already prepared for this. " Jewel responded.

"yes that's true." Angel said.

"and moreover, the is not the first time I would be representing my class for a quiz. I have been doing that since I was in secondary school." Jewel said.

"same here" Angel said.

They suddenly became quiet. They stared silently into air for a while before Jewel finally spoke.

"Angel, I think I still owe you an apology" he said.

"apology for what?" Angel asked.

"the way I spoke to you the first day we met. I wasn't in a good mood then. someone I trust very much betrayed my trust. I was very angry and was looking for who to transfer my aggression to. you just happened to be the victim. I'm very sorry." Jewel apologized

"you don't need to apologize. I have already forgiven you a long time ago. At first, I was so mad at you and always wanted to get my revenge on you, but when I got to know you better, I realized that you are a nice guy" Angel responded.

"thank you very much. I really appreciate it." Jewel said.

"you are welcome. but who actually offended you, that made you acted that way" Angel asked.

"I got dumped by my girlfriend" Jewel responded.

"wow! sorry for that, but why did she dumped you?" Angel asked.

"she gained admission into a university at the far east. I paid her a surprise visit in her school only to see her with another guy. she introduced the guy as her boyfriend to me" Jewel explained.

"so sad. I'm sorry about that." Angel said.

"it's nothing. I have gotten over it already" Jewel responded.

"I never knew you went through such. if you ever need someone to talk to, you can always come to me" Angel said.

"then I guess it's safe to say that we are now friends" Jewel said.

"sure" Angel responded.

They left what brought them to the garden, and were discussing personal issues. They also got to know each other better. They left the garden when they were done.

The first person Jewel saw when he got to his hostel was Daniel. Daniel was waiting for him at his door. He stared at him in surprise, as he didn't understand what Daniel was doing in his hostel. Daniel stared back at him with smiles.

Episode 17

Henry lay on his bed, waiting for Jessica. Jessica had earlier called to inform him that she was coming. He was about going to the restuarant to have dinner when he received Jessica's call, and decided not to go, since he believed that Jessica would bring food along with her. He prefer eating Jessica's food than going to the restuarant to eat. Few minutes later, a knock sounded on the door.

"that must be her" he said.

He stood up and rushed to the door. He opened the door to see Jessica standing at the door. His face curved in a smile when he realized that Jessica brought that same handbag she was with the last time she visited. That means she brought food.

'Jessica never disappoints' He thought.

"hi Henry" Jessica said.

"hi" Henry responded.
"please come in"

Jessica entered and sat on Henry bed. Henry also sat down beside her.

"where is Jewel?" Jessica asked.

"he has not returned yet" Henry responded.

"okay" she said.

"so what do you want to learn today?" Henry asked, and hoped that she would ask them to have dinner first, because he was really hungry.

But to his surprise, Jessica brought out her book and showed him the topic she wants him to explain to her.
Henry acted cool and collected the book from her.
Since she wanted him to explain the topic first, he would do just that. There's no need to rush. The food is here and not running away. When they are done with the lecture. They can eat the food then. As for now, hunger can wait.

Henry began the lecture immediately. He explained the topic to the best of his knowledge, and also asked Jessica questions from time to time, for him to be sure that she understood the topic. He spent an hour and 30minutes explaining the topic to Jessica. He was very tired and hungry when he was done. He couldn't wait for Jessica to dish the food so that they can eat.

Jessica opened her handbag and brought out the food flask. Henry's face curved in a smile when he saw the food flask.

'so we can now eat' Henry thought.

Jessica opened the food flask and looked into in.

"what!" she exclaimed.
"how can my cousin return my food flask to me without washing it."

She showed Henry the food flask.

"Henry can you see now. I gave my cousin food with this food flask, only for her to return it without washing it" she said.

Henry didn't respond. He just stared at her in disappointment. He was hoping that she brought food, only for her to shatter his heart with what she just said.
Jessica's face curved in a smile when she saw the disappointed look on Henry's face. Everything she did was already planned. She knew Henry would be expecting her to bring food, but she just had to disappoint him. She wanted him to see how important she is to him, and that was the only way she could show him. Henry might not notice her if she doesn't show him that she is important to him, and that was the best way to go about it.

"I will start leaving now" Jessica said and stood up.

"okay" Henry responded.

Jessica left the room very happy, because she knew that her plan worked.

Henry waited for few minutes, to be sure that Jessica would have gone far, before rushing to the restuarant to have dinner.

Lucy received some flowers from an unknown person, and a card telling her how special she is. She sat on her bed with the flowers, trying to figure out who could have sent it. Her phone suddenly started ringing. She took it from her bed to realize that the call was from Francis. She picked up the call immediately.

"hello Francis" she said.

"hello Lucy. can you come to the restuarant? I have something very important to tell you" Francis said.

"okay, I will be there in 10minutes" Lucy responded.

"okay, I'm waiting." Francis said.

Lucy ended the call and stared at the screen.

'could it be that Francis actually sent me these flowers" she thought.

She stood up from her bed, carried her handbag and left her room.

Francis sat quietly in the restuarant, waiting for Lucy. He had made up his mind to tell Lucy how he feels about her, since the last time didn't work out. The restuarant door opened and Lucy walked in. She went straight to meet Francis and sat opposite him.

"hi" Francis said.

"hi" Lucy responded.

"thanks for coming" Francis said.

"you said you want to tell me something" Lucy said.

"yes" Francis responded.

"okay, but before that, I just want you to know that you are my friend. my very good friend. no matter what happens between us, it won't change the fact that we are friends. we will continue being friends no matter what. you are a very good guy and I won't like to lose our friendship. I hope you will always be my friend no matter what" Lucy said.

Francis stared silently at Lucy as she speaks. He could only grab one thing from the numerous things she said, and that's the fact that she only sees him as a friend and nothing more. She just indirectly told him that she can't date him, because she only sees him as a friend. Maybe she has realized that he was the one that sent those flowers and decided to indirectly turned him down even before he ask her to date him. He stared silently at her, knowing fully well that Lucy had friendzoned him.

"so what do you want to tell me?" Lucy asked.

"nothing exactly. I just wanted us to hang out" Francis responded, masking his sadness with a smile.

They sat there silently for a while, before leaving the restuarant together.

Angel was seen pacing up and down in front of Daniel's hostel. She had called to inform him that she was at his hostel, and has been waiting impatiently for him. She wanted to confirm if Henry actually didn't submit Jewel's assignment to him.
Daniel emerged from his hostel few minutes later to meet Angel.

"sorry for keeping you waiting" Daniel said immediately he got to her.

"Daniel I want to confirm something from you, and I want you to be truthful to me." Angel said.

"okay" Daniel responded.

"how many assignments did Henry submit to you?" Angel asked.

"just one" Daniel responded.

"but Jewel said he gave Henry his assignment to submit for him." Angel said.

"It's either Henry intentionally didn't submit it, or Jewel didn't give him any assignment to submit. It could also be that Jewel didn't do the assignment and team up with Henry to lie against me, and make it look like I'm the one at fault. I think that should be the case. They actually agreed to lie against me and make me look like the one at fault. I have always known that those guys are evil. They can do anything to achieve their aim. Angel, I will advise you to stay away from them, because they can ruin your life." Daniel said.

Angel stared silently at Daniel, not sure why he was telling her that. she only wanted to confirm if Henry submitted Jewel's assignment to him and not to seek for his advice.

"okay thanks. I have to leave now." Angel said.

"okay" Daniel responded.

Angel turned and left, while Daniel stood still, staring at her retreating figure.

Episode 16

Jewel froze immediately the lecturer said that. same assignment that he spent 3hours at the cafe typing. He turned and stared at Henry, probably asking him to explain what the lecturer just said. He turned back to face the lecturer when Henry wouldn't say anything.

"but sir I .............."

"no excuses" the lecturer cut in.
"I didn't get your assignment when I asked for it, so no excuses."

Jewel quietly sat down, feeling sad.

'how can Henry do this to me. Is he this heartless? If he can do this, it means he is capable of doing anything. This also shows that he is the one sending me those messages. Why didn't I see this from start? He wouldn't have been so stupid to have written those messages himself. He must have given it to someone else to write for him, for him not to implicate himself. what will I do now? will I lose 10marks just like that." Jewel thought.

The lecturer continued with the lecture. Jewel didn't concentrate on the lecture. He was lost in thought. He couldn't believe that Henry could do that to him.

When lecture was over. Just immediately the lecturer stepped out of the class, Jewel confronted Henry. He stood at Henry's front and glared at him.

"what's the meaning of that? why didn't you submit my assignment?" he asked.

"I swear, I submitted the assignment to Daniel. I was very surprised when the lecturer said you didn't submit yours." Henry responded.

"if you submitted it, why then is it missing?" Jewel asked.

"I don't know. maybe we can ask Daniel, because i'm very sure that I submitted your assignment to him." Henry responded.

They both approached Daniel who was about leaving the class.

"Daniel what happened? I thought I submitted Jewel's assignment to you. Why did his own got missing?" Henry asked, immediately.

"I don't know. I took every assignment that was submitted to me to the lecturer's office. If Jewel's own was not there, it means you didn't submit it." Daniel responded.

"how can you say that, when I know very well that I submitted it to you" Henry said.

"like I said earlier, every assignment that was submitted to me was taking to the lecturer's office. I have to leave now" Daniel said and left their presence.

Jewel stared in frustration. He spared Henry one last glance and left the class also. He didn't know what to believe anymore.

******************************************

Jewel sat down alone in an empty class. He just wanted to be alone, so that he could think of what to do next. He was resting his head on the desk. He was so lost in thought that he didn't realized when Angel walked into the class. Angel sat quietly beside him, without distracting him. Few minutes later, Jewel raised his head to see Angel sitting beside him.

"Angel!" he called, surprised.
"how long have you been sitting here?"

"not quite long. Jewel what really happened? why was your assignment not submitted to the lecturer?" Angel asked, feeling concerned.

"I don't know. All I know is that I gave it to Henry to submit for me." Jewel responded.

"Are you saying that Henry didn't submit it" Angel said.

"isn't it obvious. He intentionally didn't submit my assignment." Jewel responded.

"but why would Henry do such a thing?" Angel asked.

"He thinks there's something going on between us. He once told me that he likes you and would like to date you. maybe he thinks that I went behind him to court you" Jewel responded.

"that's absurd" Angel said.

"I have always believed that he was the one sending me those messages, and he just confirmed it with what he just did." Jewel said.

"This is really absurd. I need to put a stop to this. I will confront him" Angel said.

"no, you don't need to talk to him. I can handle this" Jewel objected.

"I have to, if not, this will keep repeating itself" she said and stood up.
"I will talk to you later"

Angel left the class to look for Henry.

Angel stormed into the faculty garden and walked straight to meet Henry, who was sitting at the far left. She stood in his front and stared angrily at him. Henry looked up from the book he was reading to see Angel staring at him.

"hi Angel" he said, smiling.

Angel didn't respond. she just kept staring at him. Henry noticed that she wasn't smiling.

"what's wrong? why the look on your face?" Henry asked.

"I don't want to believe that you intentionally didn't submit Jewel's assignment, because if that's the case, you will completely lose the respect i have for you" Angel said.

She stared at Henry one last time, turned and walked out of the garden.
Henry stared angrily at the retreating figure of Angel. He couldn't believe what just happened.

"so Jewel is trying to make me look like the bad one. He is trying to make Angel see me as a bad person, so that he can have her all to himself. let's see if this will go his way." Henry said, stood up and left the garden.

****************************************

Just when Jewel was about to leave the class he was sitting in, Daniel walked into the class. Daniel went straight to meet Jewel.

"Jewel I want to tell you that I have nothing to do with your missing assignment, because I took every assignment that was submitted to me to the lecturer's office. If yours wasn't among, it means Henry didn't submit it" Daniel explained.

"You don't have to explain yourself to me. It seems that I now know what happened to my assignment." Jewel responded.

"what happened to it?" Daniel asked.

"you don't have to worry yourself about that. I have to leave now" Jewel said.

"okay" Daniel responded.

Jewel turned and left the class. Daniel stared at the retreating figure of Jewel until he was out of sight, before leaving the class also.

Episode 15

The door suddenly opened and Henry walked in. He froze when he saw Angel lying on Jewel's bed. He stared from Jewel to Angel, back to Jewel. They stared silently at him also. After a while of deafening silence, Henry spoke.

"sorry for disturbing you guys" he said and turned to leave the room.

"wait!" Jewel said, immediately.

Henry stopped and turned to face Jewel.

"why are you leaving? Angel was waiting for you all this while. Are you going to leave just like that without knowing why she came all the way from her hostel to see you?" Jewel asked.

Henry stared at Jewel, surprised, and at the same time embarrassed.

'so Angel was actually waiting for me' he thought.

Angel too could not hide the surprise look on her face when Jewel said that. she didn't remember telling Jewel that she was waiting for Henry. She stared at Jewel with a questioning look.

That was the only thing Jewel could come up with, for Henry not to misunderstand what he saw.
Henry quietly walked back into the room.

"are you actually waiting for me?" Henry asked.

Angel nodded in affirmation, even though she had no idea of what to say was her reason for looking for him.

"I'm very sorry. I didn't know you were waiting for me." Henry said and went to sit on his bed.
"why do you want to see me?" Henry asked.

"I was thinking if you can help me out with a topic. you know you asked me to come to you whenever I need help" Angel said.

"yes, I said that. what topic is it?" Henry asked.

Angel stood up from Jewel's bed and went to sit beside Henry on his bed.
Jewel heaved a sigh of relief and lay down comfortably on his bed.

Angel showed Henry the topic she wanted him to explain, and Henry took his time explaining a topic Angel knew better than him. By the time they were done, Jewel had already slept off. Angel thanked Henry and left their room without waking Jewel.

******************************************

Everyone sat quietly in class, waiting for the lecturer to arrive. Francis was sitting beside Jewel at the far left, while Henry was sitting alone at the back. Angel, Jessica and Lucy were occupying the seats at the far right. Daniel walked into the class few minutes later and went straight to the podium.

"attention everyone" He called.
"I'm sorry this class won't hold. The lecturer is not available."

"not again!" someone shouted from the back.

"The lecturer gave us an assignment instead, which we are to submit first thing tomorrow morning. The assignment should not be less than 10 pages. It must be typed and spiral bind." Daniel instructed.
"I will be at the faculty to collect it tomorrow. you must bring it to me before 7:45am, because I will take it to the lecturer exactly 7:45am.

"How is that possible? How are we suppose to type a 10 pages assignment and submit first thing tomorrow. Most of us have something else to do" someone said.

"I'm just delivering the lecturer's message. You can ignore it if you like, but I just want you to know that the assignment carries 10 marks. so if you don't do it, you automatically lose 10 marks. I will send the questions to you guys before the end of our next lecture" Daniel said and left the class.

Students started leaving the class, since the lecture was no more holding.

It was already 5:50pm and Jewel was already set for his personal study with Angel. He seemed very tired, because he spent about 3hours at the cafe typing the assignment that was giving to them. He was very hungry at the same time, because he didn't have lunch. He spent all his time at the cafe and there was no time for him to have lunch. If it was possible, he wouldn't have bothered going for the study with Angel, but he just had to go because they have already missed their study for two consecutive time. He picked up his phone from his bed and dialed Angel's number. He placed the phone on his ear and waited for her to pick up.

"hello Jewel" Angel's voice sounded at the other end.

Jewel stared at the phone screen to confirm if he dialed the right number. That was the first time Angel was calling him by his name, and it sounded so well on her lips. He placed the phone back on his ear when he confirmed that he dialed the right number.

"Angel, I'm on my way. I hope you are in your hostel?" Jewel asked.

"yes I'm in my hostel, but aren't you suppose to be busy with you assignment?" Angel asked.

"I have done it already" Jewel responded.
"what about you? are you still busy with yours?"

"no, I'm done with mine also." Angel responded.

"okay I will be there soon" Jewel said and ended the call.

Jewel took his notebook from his table and left his room immediately.

Jessica sat on her bed, going through her assignment, while Angel lay on her bed. She was waiting for Jewel to arrive. She suddenly realized she should have told Jessica that Jewel was coming, and his reason for coming. She sat up and turned to face Jessica.

"Jessica, I have to tell you something." she said

Jessica dropped the book she was holding and turned to face her.

"what is it?" Jessica asked.

"There's a quiz coming up very soon in our department. Dr. Femi has already selected Jewel and I to represent our class. He gave us some material to work it and told us to decide on the days we will be meeting for personal studies. We have already decided on that, and also decided that we will be meeting here in our room. I hope it's okay with you if we have our studies here." Angel said.

"yes, it's okay with me. He is always welcome here." Jessica responded.
"but why would Dr. Femi choose both of you, out of everyone in class?"

"I don't know" Angel responded.

"okay, he is welcome" Jessica said.
"it seems I will have to prepare dinner for three then"

"yes, exactly" Angel responded.

A knock sounded on their door.

"I think that's him" Angel said.

She stood up and walked to the door. she opened it to see Jewel at the door.

"hi" Jewel said, smiling.

"hi" she responded, smiling.
"please come in"

Jewel entered and Angel followed behind him.

"hi Jessica" Jewel said.

"hi" Jessica responded.

"please have a seat" Angel said, pointing to plastic chair in the room.

"thanks" Jewel responded and sat down.

Angel sat down also.

"I think I will have to leave you guys" Jessica said and stood up.

She left the room to prepare dinner.
They began their study immediately. This time, they worked as a team. they helped each other with what the other might not understand better. Angel later find Jewel to be very intelligent and vast in many areas. She also realized that he was very kind.
Jessica brought dinner when it was ready and they all ate. Jewel spent some time with them before he left. He left very happy and felt like coming back there everyday.

Jewel and Henry woke up very early the next day. They knew very well that they have to leave their hostel very early in order to submit their assignment to Daniel before 7:45am. It was just 6:15am, but they were already set. Jewel's phone suddenly started ringing. He took it from his bed and realized that the call was from Angel. He picked the call immediately.

"hello Angel" Jewel said.

Henry turned to face Jewel immediately he heard Angel's name. He listened with keen interest.

"Jewel, you have to forgive me for what I'm about to tell you now" Angel said.

"what is it?" Jewel asked.

"promise me you won't get mad" Angel said.

"I won't, I promise" Jewel assured her.

"I forgot to tell you yesterday that Dr. Femi asked us to meet him at his office before 7:30am today. He said that it is very urgent." Angel said.

"but why are you just telling me this now?" Jewel asked.

"I'm very sorry Jewel. it escaped my mind." Angel apologized.

"you know I have to submit my assignment before 7:45am" Jewel said.

"why not give it to Henry to submit for you." Angel said.

"okay I will do that" Jewel responded.

"I will wait for you in my hostel." Angel said.

"okay" Jewel responded and ended the call.

Henry carried his bag to leave the room immediately Jewel ended the call.

"Henry please wait" Jewel said.

Henry turned to face Jewel.

"can you please help me submit my assignment. I have to go to Dr. Femi's office right now." Jewel said.

"okay, you can bring it" Henry responded.

Jewel quickly brought out his assignment from his bag and gave to Henry.

"thank you very much" Jewel said.

Henry collected the assignment and left the room without replying Jewel.
Jewel sat on his bed and put on his shoe. His phone suddenly started ringing. He stared at the screen and realized that the call was from Angel. He picked up the call.

"hello Angel" Jewel said.

"Jewel, I just received a call from Dr. Femi. He told us not to bother coming again." Angel said.

"oh! that's a relief" Jewel said.

"okay, talk to you later"

"okay" responded and ended the call.

He went back to his bed and lay on it.

"since I don't have anything to do now, I will just sleep instead. My first class is by 4pm. which is a make up class." He said.

Jewel walked into the class exactly 4pm for the make up class. The class was almost filled when he walked in. He went to the available seat at the back and sat down. Few minutes later, the lecturer walked into the class. It was the same lecturer who gave them the assignment. The lecturer walked to the podium and faced the class.

"Jewel!" The lecturer called.

Jewel stood up immediately. He was surprised that the lecturer called his name in the class.

"yes sir" He responded.

"everyone submitted their assignment except for you. I hope you are aware that you just lost 10marks." The lecturer said.

Jewel froze immediately the lecturer said that. same assignment that he spent 3hours at the cafe typing. He turned and stared at Henry, probably asking him to explain what the lecturer just said.

Episode 14

Jewel became very scared that he did not know who is trying to harm him, and what the person planned to do.

"what will I do now? this is a threat to my life. I don't know if this person is just trying to scare me, or he is actually serious with what he said" he said.

A knock sounded on the door and he turned quickly to the direction of the door. He was scared. He knew that was not Henry, because Henry wouldn't have knocked on the door. He stood up from his bed and walked to the door. He opened the door to see Jessica standing at the door.

"hi Jessica" he said, surprised.

He wasn't expecting to see her standing at the door.

"hi Jewel" she responded, smiling.

She was carrying a handbag.

"is Henry around?" she asked.

"no, he has not returned yet" Jewel responded.

"can I wait for him?" Jessica asked.

"sure, please come in" Jewel said and gave way for her to enter.

She entered into the room and Jewel followed behind her.

"please have a seat" Jewel said, pointing at Henry's bed.

"thank you" Jessica responded and sat down on Henry's bed.

Jewel went back to sit on his bed. He took a book and busied himself with it. After a while of deafening silence, he spoke.

"have you called to inform him that you are waiting for him?" Jewel asked.

"no, let me call him now" she responded and dailed Jewel's number.

she placed the phone on her ear and waited for him to pick up.

"hello Jessica" Henry's voice sounded at the other end.

"I'm waiting for you in your room" Jessica said.

"oh! I will be with you soon. I'm on my way. give me 5minutes" Henry responded.

"okay, I'm waiting" Jessica said and ended the call.

"what did he say?" Jewel asked, immediately.

"he is on his way" Jessica responded.

"okay" Jewel said.

Jewel stood up from his bed.

"you can wait for him here. I need to go and get something from my friend's hostel." he said.

"okay" Jessica responded.

Jewel walked to the door and went out. He wasn't actually going to get anything. He just wanted to give them some privacy.
Jessica sat alone in the room, staring at every corners of the room.
After sitting alone in the room for a while, Henry walked into the room and went straight to me Jessica on his bed.

"sorry for keeping you waiting" he apologized.

"it's nothing" Jessica said.

"so, to what do I owe this surprise visit?" Henry asked

"I actually want you to explain something for me" Jessica responded.

"let's see what it is then" Henry said.

"before that, let's have lunch. I brought food" Jessica said and brought out a food flask from her handbag.

"you shouldn't have bothered bringing food. Anyway, thanks very much." Henry said.

"go and bring plate let me dish out the food" Jessica said.

Henry hurried to his cupboard and brought two plates and spoons. He handed them to Jessica. Jessica dished out the food in just one of the plates, for them to eat together.
They sat facing each other on the bed and consumed the food silently. The didn't say a word to each other until they were done eating.

"thank you very much. it's really delicious." Henry said when they were done eating.

"you are welcome" Jessica responded.

"but you don't always have to bring me food whenever you need my assistance. you can always come to me whenever you need me." he said, trying to act like a gentle man, but In actual sense, he doesn't mind if she keeps bringing him food, because her food was very delicious.

Henry explained what Jessica wanted him to explain for her, and when he was done, they both left the room together.

It was already 5:45pm. Angel sat on her bed, preparing for his personal study with Jewel. She put on her sandals and took her notebook from her table. she flipped through pages and noticed another piece of paper, placed in her notebook. she stared at the paper and prayed silently that it should not contain any scary message. she picked up the paper and read the message in it.

'he is evil. stay away from him. he will ruin your life'
The message was just exactly the same with the first one she got.

She stared at the paper in anger. This time, she wasn't scared but angry.

"so Jewel, after warning you to stop sending me such messages, you still went ahead and sent it. you think you can scare me this way. Just wait until I get to the garden." she said, carried her handbag and stormed out of her room.

Jewel entered his room to realize that Henry and Jessica were no longer in the room. He went straight to his bed and lay down. It's was already 6:15pm and he had not gone to join Angel at the garden. He didn't intend going there, not after the message he got. He didn't know who is threatening his life, so it is only proper for him to tread carefully. He took his book instead and busied himself with it.

Angel sat on a seat at the faculty garden, waiting impatiently for Jewel. she was waiting for him to arrive, so that she could give him a piece of her mind. She looked at her phone screen and realized it was 6:30pm already.

"what's keeping him" she said.

When she was tired of sitting, she stood up and paced up and down the garden.

"so Jewel is actually joking with me. He knew what he did, that's why he refused to show up now. He think he can joke with me and go free. let's see how it goes." she said.

She carried her handbag and left the garden.

Jewel dropped the book he was reading and sat up. His door suddenly opened and Angel stormed into the room. She walked straight to meet him and stood in his front. She fixed an angry gaze on Jewel.

Jewel suddenly realized he should have informed her not to bother going to the garden because he won't be available.

"I'm sorry. I should have called to inform you not to go to the garden. I forgot. My mind was on so many things" Jewel apologized.

"what's the meaning of this?" Angel asked and showed him the piece of paper.

Jewel collected the paper and took a thorough look at it. He froze when he realized that the writing was the same with the one he has.

"why are you sending this to me? what are you trying to achieve by doing this? do you think I will sit down and watch you joke with me?" Angel barked.

Jewel quickly rushed to his bag and brought out the one with him. He gave it to Angel.

"I have been getting similar message also" he said.

Angel stared at the paper in surprise. She became weak when she realized that both message was written by same person. Her angry suddenly disappeared. She sat down on Jewel's bed and took a deep breath.

"so you are not the one sending me those messages. who is sending it then?" Angel asked.

"how am I suppose to know. I think the person sending it actually wants me to stay away from you. He thinks we are seeing each other. He threatened to ruin my line if I don't stay away from you." Jewel said.

"so what are will going to do now?" Angel asked.

"I don't know. I think it's better if we stay away from each other for now, because this is not an ordinary threat." Jewel responded.

"we can't do that. we need to study for the upcoming quiz." Angel said, immediately.

"hey look here, I'm the one being threatened. if things go wrong, I will be the one to face the consequence. so you can't tell me what to do." Jewel cautioned.

"I'm sorry" Angel apologized.
"but we can come up with a plan"

Jewel quickly sat down beside her on his bed.

"do you have a plan?" he asked.

"I don't have a plan, but I think for now, we should just change our location." Angel responded.

"do you have any location in mind?" Jewel asked.

"we can have our study here in your room" Angel suggested.

Jewel wanted to agree to the suggestion, but his mind suddenly drifted to Henry.

"I don't think it's a good idea. we can use your room instead" Jewel said.

"if you are okay with it. then there's no problem." Angel said.

"I'm okay with it" Jewel responded.

"my room it is then" Angel said.

"it will be better that way" Jewel said.

"I'm so tired. I ran all the way here with the aim of creating a scene, thinking you are the one sending me those messages" Angel said and lay on Jewel's bed.

"you can rest a bit before going back to your hostel" Jewel said.

"thank you" Angel said.

"you are welcome" Jewel responded.

The door suddenly opened and Henry walked in. He froze when he saw Angel lying on Jewel's bed. He stared from Jewel to Angel, back to Jewel. They stared silently at him also. After a while of deafening silence, Henry spoke.

"sorry for disturbing you guys" he said and turned to leave the room.

Episode 13

Jewel stared at the piece of paper in his hand with so much anger. He was so certain that the message was from Henry.

"Henry you must be a coward for you to confront me this way. so you cannot come to me personally to confirm if there is anything going on between me and Angel. so you chose to do it this way. I was even planning of telling you why Angel and I always meet, but since you chose to go about it this way, I will have to see what you are capable of. I won't tell you why Angel and I always meet. I will watch and see how you will ruin my life, since that's what you plan to do." Jewel said to himself with a frown.

He tore the paper into pieces and dropped it in the dustbin.

"Henry, you can go ahead and do your worst." he said.

Just as he went back to sit on his bed, the door opened and Henry walked in. Henry went straight to his bed and lay down without sparing Jewel a glance. Jewel observed him for a while and realized that his face was slightly curved in a smile.

'so you are happy because you think your threat will have impact on me. let's see how it goes' Jewel thought.

Jewel observed him for some times, before lying on his bed.

Angel stood in front of Dr. Femi's office. Daniel had earlier informed her that Dr. Femi wanted to see her. She took a deep breath and hope Jewel didn't tell Dr. Femi anything. She knocked on the door and waited for response.

"come in" Dr Femi's voice sounded from within.

Angel entered the office to see Dr. Femi sitting behind his desk.

"good morning sir" Angel greeted.

"why are you taking your study with Jewel for granted?" Dr. Femi asked immediately without responding her greeting.

'so Jewel actually reported me to Dr. Femi' she thought.

"do you think this is a joke? You got the opportunity to represent your class and you are taking it for granted." Dr. Femi continued.

'so Jewel went and reported me to Dr. Femi after what he did. what is he trying to achieve by doing that. so he is trying to make me look bad. He is trying to make Dr. Femi see me as a bad person' Angel thought.

"let this not repeat itself. you may leave now" Dr. Femi said.

Angel lowered her head a bit and left Dr. Femi's office.

Angel sighted Jewel sitting alone in an empty class and walked straight to meet him. She had been looking for him since she left Dr. Femi's office. She stood in his front and glared at him when she got to him. Jewel looked up from his table to see Angel glaring at him.

'what's that look for' he thought.
'if there is anyone that should be angry, it should be him.'

"why did you go and tell Dr. Femi that I deliberately missed our study, after what you did?" Angel asked.

"what's wrong with what I said to him? didn't you miss it? you made me to wait all night, and when I tried calling, you ignored my call" Jewel responded.

"why won't I ignore your calls, after what you did" Angel said.

"what did I do?" Jewel asked.

"oh please! stop feigning ignorance. you know what you did" Angel said.

"I don't know what you are talking about" Jewel responded.

"I don't have time to argue with you. I just want to tell you never to try such nonsense with me again. because if you do, I won't take it lightly with you" Angel said and stormed out of the class. Jewel stared blankly into air, as he could not understand what Angel was talking about.

Francis sat quietly in the school restuarant, waiting for Lucy. He had made up his mind to tell Lucy how he feels towards her. He was very sure that he likes Lucy and would want to date her. So there is no need keeping it a secret from her.

'I will tell her today. yes I will' he mumbled.

He felt a hand on his shoulder and turned to see Lucy standing beside him. she was smiling broadly. He froze when he saw her. He was so carried away that he didn't notice when Lucy walked into the restuarant.

"Hi Lucy, you are here already" he said, masking his surprise with a smile.
"please have a seat"

"thank you" Lucy responded and sat down.
"sorry for keeping you waiting"

"it's nothing" Francis responded.

"I hope you have not had lunch already, because if you have, without waiting for me, I will break your head" Lucy joked.

"No, why should I? I invited you here. so it's only proper for me to wait for you before having lunch" Francis responded.

"that's very kind of you" Lucy said.

Francis beckoned the waiter and he approached them. The waiter took their orders and served them. They consumed their food silently. After few minutes of silence, Francis spoke.

"Lucy" he called.

Lucy looked up from her table and faced him.

"yes dear" she responded.

"there is something I will like to tell you" Francis said.

"okay, I'm listening" Lucy responded.

"first, I will like to ask you a question" Francis said.

"Go ahead" Lucy responded.

"do you have a ..........."

"hi guys" Daniel interrupted them.

They both turned to see him standing beside them, with a plate of food.

"can I join you guys?" he asked.

Francis stared at him in annoyance. He just ruined his plan with his presence. Why will he choose to join them when there are empty seats in the restuarant.

"sure, you can join us" Lucy responded.

Daniel placed his food on the table and sat down beside Lucy.

"so what are you guys discussing?" Daniel asked.

'what do you want to know' Francis mumbled.

"nothing, we are just having lunch" Lucy responded.

"Francis, I hope you know that you are paying for my lunch also" Daniel said.

Francis felt like giving him a heavy knock on his head for saying such, after ruining his plan.

"sorry bro, I already budgeted for two" he responded, masking his anger with a smile.

"okay, no problem bro" Daniel said.

They continued eating silently. After a while of silence, Daniel spoke again.

"I always see Jewel and Angel together at night. Lucy, do you think there is something going on between them." Daniel asked.

'what's your business if they are seen together. won't you mind you own business?" Francis mumbled to himself.

Lucy stared at Daniel for some time without saying anything. She already guessed that there might be something going on with Jewel and Angel, and what Daniel just said to her just confirmed her hunch. She suddenly became very sad.

"I don't know if there's anything going on between them. Angel has not told me anything yet" she responded, masking her sadness with a smile.

"I'm just saying, because I always see them together" Daniel said.

Lucy dropped her spoon and stood up.

"I'm leaving" she said.

"so soon" Daniel asked.

"yes, I have to leave now" she said.

"I'm leaving also" Francis said and stood up.

Lucy walked ahead, while Francis went to settle the bills. He joined her when he was done and they left the restuarant together.

Jewel opened his door and entered his room. Henry was not in the room when he entered. He went straight to his bed and sat down. He brought out his phone from his pocket and dailed Angel's number. He placed the phone on his ear and waited for her to pick the call.

"hello" Angel's voice sounded at the other end.

"I hope you are coming. don't keep me waiting like the other day." Jewel said.

"I'm coming" Angel responded.
"why are you even calling me. it's just 4pm"

"I need to remind you, so that you won't keep me waiting" Jewel said.

"I will come" Angel responded and ended the call immediately.

Jewel dropped the phone on his bed and picked up his bag. he opened it and brought out a notebook. He opened the first page of the notebook and saw a piece of paper placed in it.

"not again" he said.

He knew what the content on the paper was likely to be. He unwrapped it and read the content.

'After warning you to stay away from her, you still went ahead to wait for her at the garden. since you have refused to listen to my warnings, watch what will happen to you. I will destroy you. you won't escape my wrath this week. I promise you that'.

That was exactly what Jewel read on the paper.

Instead of getting angry, he became a bit scared.

"this is getting out of hand. why would Henry be sending me such scaring messages. I need to put a stop to this before something bad happens" he said.

He dropped the paper on his bed and rushed to Henry's bed. He took Henry's notebook from his bed and went back to his own bed. He opened a page in the notebook and compared the writing with the one on the piece of paper. His eyes widen in shock when he realized that the writing are not the same. He suddenly became weak.

"the messages are not from Henry" he said.
"then who is sending me these scaring messages."

He became very scared that he did not know who is trying to harm him, and what the person planned to do.

Episode 12

Angel didn't mention it to anyone that she saw a piece of paper warning her to stay away from God knows who, in her bag. she kept it to herself. she didn't know who the paper was from and what it was about. She wanted to find out who the paper was from and why it was sent to her.

"I must find out who sent this to me and why it was sent to me" she said to herself.

The next day in school was quite hectic. They had 3 lectures in a space of 4hours. One of their lecturers also had a make up class with them. Jewel was very exhausted by the end of lectures. He just wanted to go back to his hostel and rest. It was already 5pm and before he would get to his hostel, it would be time for his personal study with Angel. He left the class without informing Francis or Henry. And moreover, Henry seemed to be angry with him. Just as he step out of the class, he heard his name behind him. He turned to see Daniel walking towards him.

'why is he coming to meet me? is Dr. Femi looking for me' Jewel thought.

"what's up Jewel" Daniel said, immediately he got to Jewel.

"I'm cool." Jewel responded.

"are you leaving already?" Daniel asked.

"yes. is Dr. Femi looking for me?" Jewel asked.

"no no, you can go ahead. I just wanted to say hi" Daniel said.

"okay thanks, I have to leave now. I'm already exhausted." Jewel said and made attempt to leave.

"Jewel" Daniel called.

"yes" Jewel responded.

"I thought you and Angel were not in good terms. why did I see you both alone at the faculty garden?" Daniel asked.

Jewel stared at him, not sure why he asked that question.

'what's wrong for him to be seen alone with Angel. Is he expecting them to keep avoiding each other forever' he thought.

"you don't need to answer me. I was just curious. that's all" Daniel continued when Jewel didn't respond.
"you can leave now. see you in class tomorrow"

Jewel turned and left his presence without saying anything. Daniel stared at his retreating figure until it was out of sight before leaving.

It was already 5:45pm when Jewel got to his hostel. That means it was almost time for his private study with Angel. He dropped his bag on his bed and picked his notebook on the table. He left his room immediately, because he was already late.

Angel was seen lying on her bed, while Jessica was solving some questions. It was already 6:30pm and she hasn't left to join Jewel for their personal study. She didn't plan of going to meet him. She was still scared about the message written on the piece of paper she saw in her bag. She didn't know if the message was referring to Jewel. Maybe the message was trying to tell her to stay away from Jewel, because it was after she spent time with him that she got that message.

'or could it be that Jewel actually kept that piece of paper in my bag, because he was the last person I was with before I saw that paper in my bag.' she thought.
'yes, it should be him. he might have done that to get back at me. He must have done it to scare me. I just hope it's not him, because if it's him, I won't take it lightly with his. That piece of paper is giving me sleepless night.'

A tap on her shoulder brought her back to reality. she turned to see Jessica standing beside her.

"won't you pick up your call. your phone has been ringing continuously, and it's distracting me from studying." Jessica complained.

Angel was so carry away that she didn't realize that her phone was ringing. She sat up and took the phone from her bed. she stared at the screen.

'speaking of the devil' she thought, when she realized that the call was from Jewel. She dropped the phone on her bed for it to continue ringing and lay down back on her bed.

"won't you pick the call?" Jessica asked.

"it's not important" Angel responded.

Jewel sat alone at the faculty garden with his phone placed on his ear. He was dialing Angel's number. He removed the phone from his ear and stared at the screen with frustration. That was the fifth time he was calling Angel, but she wasn't picking. It was already 7pm. He had been sitting there all alone for an hour, waiting for Angel. There was no how he could do anything meaningful there alone, because Angel was with all the materials Dr. Femi gave them.

"how can she just leave me here all by myself. If she won't come, shouldn't she have called to inform me, so that I wouldn't have come here to waste my time. She is even ignoring my calls. This is so frustrating" he said in frustration.

Jewel stared at his watch and realized it was 7:10pm already. He picked up his book which was beside him, stood up and left the garden in annoyance.

Just immediately Jewel left the garden, Henry came out from the tree he was hiding behind. He had been watching Jewel secretly all the while. He couldn't hide the smile on his face when he saw Jewel so frustrated. He knew Jewel was waiting for Angel and eventually got frustrated because Angel didn't show up. He was very happy to see Jewel so angry.

"you want to steal the woman I love from me. let's see if it will go your way" Henry said.

He waited for some minutes before leaving the garden.

Jewel opened his door and stormed into his room. He went straight to his bed and lay on it. He sighed deeply when he realized that Henry was not yet back.

'it seems Henry is still avoiding me' he thought.

"I can't believe I just wasted my time out there. If I knew this would happen, I would have saved myself the stress of going there." he said.

"let me use this opportunity to revise what we learned today." he said and picked up his bag which he left on his bed.

He brought out a notebook from his bag and flipped through pages. I piece of paper fell off from the book.

"what's this" he said and picked up the paper.

He unwrapped it and read the content on the paper. His mood suddenly changed when he read what was written on the paper. His stared at the paper in annoyance.

'If you don't stay away from her, I will ruin your life' that was the content on the paper.

Jewel stared at the piece of paper in his hand with so much anger. He was so certain that the message was from Henry.

"Henry, you must be a coward for you to confront me this way. so you cannot come to me personally and confirm if there is anything going on between me and Angel. so you chose to do it this way. Episode 11

Angel and Jewel sat quietly at the faculty garden. They were the only one in the garden. every other students have gone back to their hostel. The garden was very quiet and conducive for reading. They were both holding different materials which they were reading. even though they were sitting very close to each other, they had not say anything to each other since they got to garden. They were not even studying together. Each of them was reading his own material. they were not working together as they should have.

Henry suddenly walked into the garden. He froze immediately he saw Jewel and Angel sitting at the far-left in the garden. They were too engrossed in what they were reading, that they didn't notice his presence. Henry quickly hid behind a tree and stared at them from a distance. He frown when he saw Jewel sitting very close to Angel. He glared at them. His eyes suddenly turned red. if those eyes were gun, about six bullets would have pierced into Jewel's body. He glared at them with so much pain in his heart.

"someone I thought was my friend, went behind me to get the lady I love. so people could be this wicked" he said, bitterly.
"Jewel, don't think you have won, because I will surely come back for you. you will regret going for the lady I love. I'm going to make you regret doing this to me. just wait and see. you have just drawn the battle line. you will surely regret this. I promise you" Henry sworn.

He glared at them one last time and left the garden without their awareness.

Lucy sat quietly in Jessica's room, waiting for her to return. she had been sitting there all alone for close to 2 hours. she was becoming impatient. She had tried calling her several times but her number was not reachable. she looked at her phone screen and realized it was already 8:15pm.

"I have to leave now. it's late already. but what is she doing out at this time. Even Angel that left since 6pm has not returned. will she still be with Jewel up till now? What are they even discussing? why did they even agree to meet up in the first? I hope it's not what i'm thinking. I will have to find out. I won't just sit and do nothing." she said, carried her bag and stood up to leave.

The door opened immediately she stood up, and Jessica walked in. she heaved a sigh of relief when she was Jessica.

"Jessica, where have you been? I have been waiting for you for two hours now." Lucy said.

"why didn't you call me?" Jessica asked.

"I called but it was not reachable." Lucy responded.

Jessica brought out her phone from her bag and realized that her phone was switched off.

"oh, sorry my phone is switched off. why do you want to see me?" Jessica asked.

"come and sit down" Lucy said and pulled Jessica to sit with her on the bed.

"by the way, where is Angel?" Jessica asked.

"she left the hostel since 6pm. she went to meet Jewel" Lucy responded.

"Jewel!" Jessica said, surprised.
"I thought they were not on good terms."

"that was what I thought too. but Jewel called her this evening to meet him at the gate." Lucy responded.

"maybe he just wanted to apologize for what he did to Angel. whatever the case may be, i'm glad they have settled their differences." Jessica said.

"that's true" Lucy responded.

"so what do you want to discuss with me?" Jessica asked.

"I want to ask ........."

The door suddenly opened, cutting Lucy off from saying what she wanted to say.

They both turned there attention to the door to she Angel standing at the door. she looked exhausted. she walked into the room and went straight to her bed to sit. she dropped her bag beside her.

"Angel, where have you been all this while?" Lucy asked.

"I was with Jewel. we were ......." she suddenly paused when she realized she shouldn't have said that.
"I mean to say, I was at the faculty garden reading."

Lucy stared at her suspiciously. she wasn't convinced by Angel's response. she knew Angel wanted to say something about Jewel but suddenly stopped.

'there must be something going on between Angel and Jewel, if not, she wouldn't have kept the fact that she was with him all these while a secret.' she thought.

Angel stood up from her bed and walked to the door.

"where are you going?" Jessica asked.

"I want to get my clothes" Angel responded.

"let me come with you. I want to get mine also" Jessica said.

"okay, let's go then" Angel responded.

Jessica stood up from her bed and left the room with Angel.

Lucy rushed to Angel's bed immediately they left the room. she took Angel's bag and opened it. she searched through it to see if she could find anything that proves that Angel and Jewel were seeing each other.

Jewel walked into his room to find Henry already asleep. He quietly went to his bed and sat. he dropped his books and lay on his bed to catch some sleep. Henry secretly opened his eyes. He glared at Jewel for some time before closing his eyes to get some sleep.

Jewel woke up very early and prepare for lecture. Henry was not in the room when he woke up. He couldn't believe that Henry left for lecture so early. He quickly prepared for lecture and left the hostel when he was set.

The class was almost filled. Angel, Jessica and Lucy could been seen sitting at the far left. Jewel and Francis were occupying the front sit. Henry was sitting alone at the back. They were all waiting for the lecturer to arrive. Few minutes later, Daniel walked into the class. He went straight to the podium and faced the class.

"hello everyone" he called the attention of the class.

The class focused their attention on him.

"i'm sorry, this class won't hold. The lecturer is not available. He is attending a seminar" Daniel said.

Students started leaving the class immediately Daniel made the announcement. Angel, Jessica and Lucy stood up to leave but Daniel approach them immediately.

"hi ladies" he greeted.

"hi Daniel" they responded in unison.

"Angel can i talk to you?" he asked.

"sure" she responded.

Jessica and Lucy walked ahead. Daniel waited until they had left before he turned to face Angel.

"I'm curious" Daniel said.

"curious about what?" Angel asked.

"why did I see you and Jewel together. I thought you were not on good terms." Daniel asked.

Angel stared at him for a while, not sure why he asked such question.

"I'm not quarreling with Jewel. we just had little misunderstanding." she responded.

"I saw you alone with him yesterday night. Are you guys........"

"I have to leave now. my friends are waiting for me." she cut in immediately.

She left his presence without listening to any more questions from him. she didn't know why he was asking her questions about Jewel, and don't feel like answering question relating to Jewel.

Angel entered her room and was surprised to see that Jessica was not back. she was expecting to meet her in the room since she left before her.

'maybe she has gone to her cousin's hostel.' she thought.

She sat on her bed and removed her shoes. she opened her bag and brought out her notebook. A piece of paper dropped from her bag immediately. She ignored it at first, but later picked it up and unwrapped it. she stared in confusion when she saw the content written on the paper.
'stay away from him. he is evil. he will ruin your life'. that was the content of the paper.
she stared at the paper confused, as she couldn't understand what those words mean.

"who was this meant for? what is it doing in my bag?" she mumbled.
"who kept it in my bag, and who is it referring to? I don't think this is for me. maybe it mistakenly find it way to my bag."

She dropped the paper back in her bag and lay on her bed. The content of the paper kept resurfacing in her mind and she became troubled.

Episode 10

Jewel stood still, staring at the door Henry just walked out from. He couldn't do or say anything. He knew very well that Henry might have misunderstood what he saw. Angel also stood still without saying a word. she was waiting for Jewel to say the first word. When Jewel didn't say anything, she turned and walked to the door. Jewel followed behind her, knowing fully well that she's going to Dr Femi's office. He didn't want to argue with her anymore. he would agree to any decision she made. He had made a mistake already and wouldn't want to add to it. He followed her out of the room and locked the door behind him.

Angel stood in front of Dr. Femi's office, with Jewel standing right behind him. She was still holding the paper she grabbed from Jewel. She knocked softly on the door.

"come in" Dr. Femi's voice sounded from within.

Angel opened the door and entered. Jewel followed behind her immediately.

"good afternoon sir" they greeted in unison.

Dr. Femi looked up from the magazine he was reading.

"good afternoon." Dr. Femi responded.
"have you made your decision"

"yes sir" Angel responded.

She handed the paper she was holding to Dr. Femi.

"we have agreed to meet, Tuesday, Thursdays and Saturdays." Angel said.

Jewel stared at her, surprised. That was the same suggestion he made to her, which she refused. if she was going to agree, why then did she have to make a scene back there in his room.

Dr. Femi stared at the book for a while and dropped it on his desk.

"okay, good. That means you will be meeting today. let me give you some materials you will be working with." Dr. Femi said and brought out some materials from his drawer.

He handed the materials to Angel.

"you should work with this for now. I will announce it in the class later on that you both will be representing your class. but for now, no one should know about it. not even your close friends. is that clear" Dr. Femi said.

"yes sir" they responded in unison.

"okay, you may leave now. when you have any questions, don't hesitate to let me know" Dr. Femi said.

"thank you sir" They responded and left his office.

Jewel stretched his phone to Angel, once they were out of Dr. Femi's office, and without asking any question, Angel collected the phone. She knew Jewel was asking for her number. She typed her number and returned the phone to Jewel. Jewel collected the phone and they went their separate ways.

Jewel entered his room to see Henry sitting on a chair. he was busy solving a question. he pretended like he didn't see Jewel. jewel stared at him for a while and went to lie on his bed. He didn't know whether to explain what happened earlier to Henry or not. And moreover, there is no how he would explain things to Henry without mentioning Angel's reason for coming to their room. There's no how he will explain it without telling him that Angel and him are preparing for an upcoming quiz. Dr. Femi warned them not to tell anyone. He didn't know why Dr. Femi said that, but he wouldn't want to disobey him. He will explain everything to Henry when the time is right. As for now, he won't say anything to him, since he didn't ask.

Henry continued with what he was doing, without looking at Jewel's direction.

Lucy sat on her bed with her phone in her hand. She wanted to put a call across to Jewel but couldn't. After minutes of holding the phone without making any call, she dropped the phone on her bed and lay on her back.

"I can't continue like this. this is not the best way to go about it. I can't keep calling him whenever I need to hear his voice. he will get tired of my calls someday. I need to look for a different way to go about this. I need to go to my cousin's hostel to seek for her advice on this. she might be able to help. she is more experienced than me. I think I should go to her hostel." she said and stood up from her bed.

She took her phone from her bed and left her room.

Jewel sat up on his bed. he looked at his phone and realized it was almost time for his personal study with Angel. He looked at Henry's bed and realized he was no longer in the room. he stood up from his bed, took his wallet and left the room.

Angel sat on her bed, preparing for her study with Jewel. She packed the books on her bed and put it inside her handbag. she was the only one in the room. Jessica had not returned. Her door suddenly opened and Lucy walked in. she went to sit beside Angel on her bed.

"what's up Angel" Lucy said.

"I'm cool" Angel responded.

"are you going out?" Lucy asked, when she saw Angel packing some books into her bag.

"yes" Angel responded.

"where is my cousin?" Lucy asked.

"Jessica is not yet back." Angel responded.
"let me get something from the other room. I'm coming"

"okay" Lucy responded.

Angel stood up and left the room.
Lucy sat alone in the room, staring at every corner of the room. Angel's phone suddenly started ringing on her bed. Lucy ignored it at first, but when it kept ringing, she took it from the bed. she stared closely at the phone and realized that the call was from Jewel. same Jewel that had been giving her sleepless night.

"why is Jewel calling Angel" she mumbled.
"I thought they were not in good term. Or have they set aside their differences. even at that, they shouldn't be that close for Jewel to have her number."

she was still mumbling when the phone stopped ringing. it started ringing almost immediately.
Out of curiosity, she picked the call and place the phone on her ear without saying anything.

"Meet me at the gate" Jewel's voice sounded at the other end

Before she could say anything, Jewel ended the call. She stared at the phone, confused. Jewel's tone sounded like an order. He sounded like he was ordering Angel to meet him at the gate.
While she was still staring at the phone, the door opened and Angel walked in.

"Jewel called" Lucy said immediately she saw Angel.

"oh, so he has called. what did he say?" Angel asked.

"he said you should meet him at the gate" Lucy responded.

"okay, let me start going then" Angel said.

She carried her bad and collected her phone from Lucy.

"are you guys.........." Lucy wanted to ask a question.
"never mind" she said instead.

"okay, see you later." Angel said and walked to the door.

Lucy stared at Angel until she left the room. it was obvious that she had lot of questions on her mind. she wanted to ask Angel if she and Jewel are now an item. She prayed silently for that not to be the case, because she can't stand to see Jewel dating another lady, and most especially her close friend.

"I hope there's nothing going on between them. I have to find out and put a stop to it. I have to use every means possible to make sure that there relationship don't work, if it is true that they are seeing each other. I will do everything possible to make Jewel mine." she said and lay on Angel's bed.

Episode 9

Jewel entered his room to see Henry lying on his bed. He noticed Henry wasn't in a good mood. He walked to sit beside him on his bed.

"what's wrong?" Jewel asked.

Henry didn't respond. He only stared blankly into air.

"talk to me Henry. what's wrong?" Jewel asked again.

Henry turned to face Jewel for the first time.

"she turned me down" he said sadly.

"who turned you down?" Jewel asked.

"Angel turned me down" he said.

Jewel stared at him, not knowing what to say next. he didn't know whether to comfort him, or just tell him to forget about her. He was even about to tell him that Angel and him had become study partners, but with the look of things, he couldn't say anything to him.
Jewel place a hand on Henry's shoulder.

"what did she say to you?" Jewel asked.

"she said she's not ready for any relationship." Henry responded.

"and you are going to give up because of that? maybe she hasn't seen enough reason why she should date you. All you have to do is to show her that you are the best guy for her and when she realize that, she will agree to date you " Jewel advised.

Henry sat up immediately

"you might be right. maybe I rushed the whole thing and didn't give her the time to know me better." Henry said.

"exactly" Jewel responded.

"so what do you think I should do?" Henry asked.

"just keep things going normal with her. you should also use that opportunity to show her how much you love her. and after some time you should ask her out again." Jewel advised

"thank you very much Jewel. that's what I will do" Henry said.

"you are welcome" Jewel responded.

Henry stood up from the bed and walked to the door.

"where are you going?" Jewel asked.

"to have lunch. I haven't eaten anything since morning" Henry responded.

"so you are starving yourself because a lady turned you down." Jewel said.

Henry didn't respond. He just quietly opened the door and went out.

Francis and Lucy sat quietly at the far-left in the faculty garden. They had been sitting there quietly, since they left the restuarant which they went to have lunch. Lucy suddenly broke the silence.

"Francis, you have been so nice to me all through today. I'm just curious to know why" Lucy said.

"I'm always nice to nice ladies" he responded, not sure if that was the best way to respond.

"hmm. it's good sha. but you should know that the one who needs your attention more, is your girlfriend." Lucy said.

"I don't have any girlfriend" Francis cut in immediately.

Lucy stared at him, surprised at how quick he responded. The way Francis corrected her immediately made it look as if he was trying to prevent any topic that has to do with girlfriend, but unknown to Lucy, Francis only responded quickly for her to know that he is still single and ready to have her as his girlfriend.

"okay, if you say so" Lucy said.

"I really don't have a girlfriend" Francis said, stressing the words.

"let's start leaving. I have somethings to do in my hostel." Lucy said.

"okay" Francis responded.

They stood up and left the garden.

Jessica entered the school restuarant to see Henry having lunch at the far-left of the restuarant. Her face curved in a smile when she saw him. she walked to meet him and sat down beside him.

"hi" she greeted

"hi" Henry responded.

"you are always coming to the restuarant to eat. can't your girlfriend at least come to your hostel to prepare something for you" she joked.

She was indirectly trying to know if he has a girlfriend.

"I don't have a girlfriend yet. but why should a lady go to her boyfriend's hostel to cook for him?" Henry asked.

"I can do that for my boyfriend. it's no big deal." Jessica responded.

"you mean you can go to your boyfriend's hostel to cook for him?" Henry asked.

"I don't have a boyfriend yet. but will do that for him when I have one" Jessica responded.

"hmm. Any guy that will have you as his girlfriend will be very lucky. you will surely take good care of him" Henry said.

"I can come cook for you, since you don't have a girlfriend to do that for you." Jessica suggested.

"you know I won't allow you to do that. you are in this school to study and not to cook for a guy" Henry said.

"but I enjoy cooking" Jessica responded.

"I know, but not going to a guy's hostel to cook for him" Henry said.

"okay, but you know you can always come to my place to eat" Jessica said.

"sure" Henry responded.

Henry ate his food silently and when he was done, they left the restuarant together.

Angel was seen pacing up and down in front of Jewel's hostel. She was waiting for him to come out so that they could make a decision on when they will be meeting for their personal study. She had earlier agreed to meet Jewel in front of his hostel so that they could make the decision, and she had been standing in front of Jewel's hostel for close to an hour, but he was still not coming out. She was becoming impatient already.
She decided to go see what was delaying Jewel from coming out, since she knew his room number. Henry had once told her their room number.

She entered into the hostel and walked from one door to the other until she got to Jewel's door. She knocked softly on the door.

"come in." she heard Jewel's voice from within.

She opened the door and enter to see Jewel sitting on his bed. he was solving some questions.

Jewel stared at her, surprised. he never expected to see her in his room.

"so you are right here in your room doing nothing, while I have been standing outside for hours waiting for you" Angel barked.

"I thought you won't come" Jewel said.

"didn't we agree to meet in front of your hostel?" Angel asked.

"but I still thought you won't come. anyway, I'm sorry." he apologized.

He brought out a piece of paper from his pocket and showed to Angel.

"I will give this to Dr. Femi. we will be meeting on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. by 6:pm. I think these are the best days since we won't be having much lectures on those days" Jewel said.

"I don't agree to that" Angel said.

"why?" Jewel asked.

"I'm always busy on those days. I think, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays should be okay" Angel responded.

"how can you suggest those days, when you know the workload we always have" Jewel said

The truth was that, Angel was okay with the days Jewel suggested, but the fact that he unilaterally took the decision without consulting her was why she disagreed.

"Those are the days that will be okay for me" Angel responded.

"you can't be serious. I'm taking the paper to Dr. Femi as our decision." Jewel said.

Angel immediately grabbed the paper from Jewel and walked to the door.
Jewel rushed to meet her and held her hand from behind. Angel tried to forcefully free herself from Jewel, but Jewel wrapped his hand around her and struggled to get the paper from her. While they were still struggling with the book, the door suddenly opened and Henry walked in. He froze when he saw Jewel wrapping his hand around Angel. The way Jewel's hands were wrapped around Angel, made it looked as if Jewel was embracing her. Henry stared at them and they stared back still in the same position. Jewel needed no one to tell him that Henry might have misunderstood what he saw.
After staring silently at them, Henry turned and left the room.
Jewel immediately freed Angel when Henry left. Jewel knew very well that he has lot of explanations to do.

Episode 8

Henry woke up very early the next day and prepared for lectures. He was smiling all through. He had made a promise that he would tell Angel her he feels about her. Just imagining the fact that Angel will soon become his girlfriend is giving him so much joy. He would treat her like the queen she is, when she finally agrees to be his girlfriend. He left the hostel when he was ready, without waiting for Jewel. He was so anxious to go for lectures.

All through lecture, Henry didn't pay attention to what the lecturer was saying. He kept taking glances at Angel from time to time. He had already prepared what he would say to Angel when he is alone with her.

Francis on the other hand, is also lost in thought. he also wasn't paying attention to what the lecturer was lecturer. His eyes were just fixed on Lucy who was sitting at the far left in the class.

immediately the lecturer left the class, Francis rushed to sit beside Lucy.

"hi" he greeted.

"hi" Lucy responded.

"how was the class?" he asked.

"it's okay." Lucy responded.

"so where are you heading now?" Francis asked.

"I'm going to have lunch" Lucy responded.

"can we go together? I'm also going to have lunch" Francis said.

"okay, no problem then." Lucy responded and stood up.

Francis and Lucy left the class to have lunch.

Francis and Lucy sat quietly in the restuarant close to the faculty, eating their lunch. Francis kept taking side glances at Lucy as she eat. he couldn't believe that the lady he likes was having lunch with him. He was very sure that he likes Lucy as a woman, but his problem is, he doesn't think he could be able to tell her that he likes her. that had always been his problem. he doesn't have the gut to tell a lady he likes that he likes her. he has never confessed his feelings for a lady. He lose the lady he likes to another guy, because he couldn't tell her that he likes her. He will try his best for that not to be the case with Lucy. Even if he can't tell her with words, he will show it in his action. she would come to realize how much he love her when he showered her with love.

They ate silently, and when they were done, Lucy tried to pay for her meal, but Francis prevented him.

"Don't worry, I will take care of it" Francis said.

"you don't have to" Lucy responded.

"I insist" Francis said.

"okay, if you insist. thanks" Lucy said.

"you are welcome" Francis responded.

Francis paid for their meal and they left the restuarant together.

Henry went to the school garden after lecture to see Angel sitting at the far left in the garden. He couldn't control his joy when he saw her sitting there alone. That was the perfect opportunity for him to tell her that he likes her.

He walked slowly to meet Angel and sat beside her.

"hi" Henry greeted.

"hi" Angel responded.

"why are you sitting here alone?" Henry asked.

"receiving fresh air" Angel responded.

There was a deafening silence for a while.

"Angel" Henry called.

"yes" Henry responded

"I want to confess something to you" Henry said.

Angel didn't respond immediately. she stared at Henry suspiciously.

"what is it?" she asked, slowly.

Henry took a deep breathe and stared deeply at Angel.

" I know this might not be the best time for me to say this, but I just have to say it because it has been troubling me. I like you Angel. I like you very much. I want us to start dating." he said and waited curiously for her responded.

Angel stared at Henry, surprised. she wanted to speak but words couldn't come out from her mouth. She couldn't find the right word to say to Henry. After staring silently at Henry for a while, she heaved.

"Henry" she called softly.

"yes dear" Henry responded.

"I don't think I'm ready for any relationship. I'm very sorry, I can't date you." Angel responded.

Henry couldn't believe what he just heard. it was as if someone just dropped a heavy load on his head. he never believed Angel could turn him down. He was so confident. He suddenly wished he didn't ask her to date him. He couldn't say or do anything again. he just stared silently at Angel. Angel stared silently at him also. The garden suddenly became too quiet. even a drop of pin can be heard.

Angel suddenly heard her name from behind. she turned to see her course rep, Daniel, walking towards her.

"Angel I have been looking for you all over the faculty" Daniel said immediately he got to Angel.

"why are you looking for me?" Angel asked.

"Dr. Femi wants to see you now" Daniel responded.

"okay, let me go and meet him then" Angel said and left the garden immediately.

She didn't bother asking why Dr. Femi was looking for her. She just wanted to leave the garden. she didn't like the atmosphere in the garden. she wasn't expecting Henry to say such a thing to her.

Henry sat quietly at the garden. he still couldn't believe that Angel just turned him down. When he was tired of sitting, he stood up and left the garden.

Angel stood in front of Dr. Femi's office. She didn't know why he wanted to see her. she didn't bother asking her course rep, because she just wanted to leave that awkward moment with Henry. She heaved a sigh of relief and knock softly on the door. she opened the door and entered when she didn't hear any response. The first person she saw when she entered Dr Femi's office was Jewel. her heart missed a beat when she saw him. she couldn't explain why, but she suddenly became unsettled when she saw Jewel in Dr. Femi's office. Could it be that Jewel came to report her to Dr. Femi. that certainly can't be the case. Dr. Femi was sitting behind his best. He was working on some files on his desk.

"good afternoon sir" Angel greeted.

Dr. Femi looked up from his desk to see Angel and Jewel standing in his front.

"you are here already. please have your seat." Dr. Femi said, pointing to the two visitor's seat.

Angel and Jewel sat down quietly, waiting for Dr. Femi to state his reason for calling them to his office.

"without wasting much of your time. let me go straight to the point." Dr Femi began.
"there will be an interlevel quiz in a month's time. since I'm your course adviser and your statistics lecturer, I have chosen you both to represent your class. you have proven to be the best in your class. I'm informing you earlier before hand, so that you will prepare very well for it. There are lot of consolation prize that comes with it, and the ultimate prize is very appealing. no student in your level has ever won it. I want you to make the different. you guys need to study hard. the topic of concentration is not limited to your level. I will give you some materials you will be working with. you will have to decide within yourself, when you will meeting to study. I will give you chance to make the decision, and when you are done, you can come back to meet me." Dr. Femi explained.

Jewel and Angel stared at him surprise. they were not expecting such. it means they will have to stick to each other from now on. they can't avoid each other any more.

"you can leave now. when you have made your decision, you can come back to meet me" Dr. Femi said.

Jewel and Angel stood up and left his office.

Episode 7

Henry sat on his bed, with his book and pen right beside him. He was trying to learn what was thought in class for that day but couldn't seem to understand it. He had been sitting on his bed for close to two hours trying to solve some questions. The day was approaching evening already and he still hasn't understood the topic. what's he going to tell Jessica. He already promised her that he would explain the topic to her this evening at the faculty garden. he wouldn't want to disappoint her. He can't go to the garden if he can't explain the topic to her.
He lay on his bed and sighed.

"what am I going to do now. I don't want to disappoint her. This is the first time she's asking me for a request. I will not like to disappoint. This is really frustrating." he said.

The door suddenly opened and Jewel rushed into the room. he walked straight to Henry and stood opposite him. The look on his face was not funny. Henry noticed his mood.

"what's wrong?" Henry asked.

"your girlfriend has started again. how can she lie against me to Dr. Femi" Jewel responded.

Henry stared at him confused. he didn't understand what Jewel was talking about.

"which my girlfriend?" Henry asked.

"how many girlfriend do you have?" Jewel asked.

"I don't remember telling you I have a girlfriend" Henry responded.

"oh, so you have forgotten about Angel." Jewel said.

"did I tell you that she's my girlfriend. I only told you that I like her and would like to date her. please don't go about telling people that she's my girlfriend, so that you will not spoil my plan. if she hears that from anyone, when I have not told her personally, do you think she will still give me a chance." Henry said.

"okay I'm sorry, but please tell Angel to stay away from me. how can she lie against me to Dr. Femi." Jewel said.

"what did she do this time?" Henry asked.

"Dr. Femi asked her to call me to his office. she didn't even approach me, but she lied to Dr. Femi that I refused to come" Jewel responded.

"okay I am apologizing on her behalf. I will talk to her, but that's after I have told her about my feelings for her." Henry said.

"she should just stay away from me please" Jewel said.

"she will." Henry responded.

Jewel walked to his bed and sat down.

"Jewel, please do you know how to solve questions on sample theory?" Henry asked.

"yes I do. what about it?" Jewel asked.

"but you were not in class when the topic was treated" Henry said.

"I have already practiced it earlier before now" Jewel responded.

Henry rushed to Jewel's bed with his book and pen.

"please explain it to me. I really need to know it" Henry said.

Jewel collected Henry's pen and explained the topic to the best of his knowledge. Henry rushed out of the room immediately Jewel was done. he was late already. Jessica would have been waiting for him at the garden.

Jessica sat quietly at the faculty garden waiting for Henry. she had been sitting there for close to an hour. She was already contemplating on leaving.
Henry suddenly rushed into the garden, sweating profusely. he walked to me Jessica at the far-right in the garden.

"I'm sorry for keeping you waiting" Henry apologized.

"I just got here myself" she lied.

"okay, can we begin?" Henry asked.

"sure" Jessica responded.

Henry sat down beside her and started explaining the topic to her. he followed the same method he learned from Jewel. When he was done, he stood up to leave.

"have you had dinner?" Jessica asked.

Henry paused. he wasn't sure if Jessica was referring to him. he turned back to face him.

"you mean me?" he asked.

"yes" Jessica responded.

"no, I haven't, but I will go to a restuarant on my way to my hostel." Henry responded.

"why not follow me to my hostel. I prepared rice" Jessica suggested.

Henry never expected her to invite him to her hostel.

"you mean I should follow you to your hostel?" he asked.

"yes" she responded.

"what about your roommate?" Henry asked.

Henry knew very well that Angel is Jessica's roommate, but he just wanted to confirm it.

"Angel is my roommate. so there is nothing to worry about" Jessica responded.

"oh really! your roommate is Angel" Henry said, surprised.

"yes" Jessica responded.

"okay then. I can follow you to your hostel" Henry said.

"let's start leaving then." Jessica said.

They stood up and left the garden.

Lucy sat on her bed, staring at her phone screen. she had been staring at the screen for close to 30 minutes. she wanted to put a call through to Jewel but couldn't summon the courage to do so. Her main reason for requesting for Jewel's number from Francis was not because she wanted to plead on Angel's behalf, but because she just wanted to hear Jewel's voice. she has been crushing on Jewel ever since she set her eyes on him. she just have to hear his voice, or she won't be able to fall asleep.
she took a deep breathe, trying to summon all the courage she could. she waited for the next 2 minutes and dailed Jewel's number. she placed the phone on her ear and waited for him to pick up. her heart was beating in rhyme with the beep of the call.

"Hello" a deep masculine voice answered at the other end.

Lucy froze immediately she heard the voice. that was certainly Jewel's voice.

"Jewel" she called.

"yes. who am I speaking to?" Jewel asked.

"this is Lucy, your coursemate" she answered sharply.

The atmosphere was too tense for her already.

"oh Lucy, how are you?" Jewel asked, surprised.

"I'm fine, and you? Jessica asked.

she seemed relaxed already.

"I'm fine too" Jewel responded.

"I didn't see you in statistics class today" Lucy said.

"wow! you actually called because you are concerned about me. that's so nice of you. it makes me feel special" Jewel responded.

Lucy couldn't hide the smile on her face. she never expected such a nice response from Jewel. she was expecting him to start asking questions of how she got his number, but he never did.

"you know you are my friend. I just wanted to know why you were not in class" she said.

"that's very nice of you. I really appreciate it. I was with Dr. Femi all through that period. that was why I didn't attend the class." Jewel responded.

"okay, if you need the statistics note to copy, I can always give you mine, and if you need someone to explain it to you, you can always come to me" Lucy said.

"that's very kind of you. thanks" Jewel said.

"you are welcome" Lucy responded.

"see you in school tomorrow" jewel said.

"see you too" she responded and ended the call.

she stared at her phone screen with smiles on her face. she didn't believe they could have such a smooth conversation. she dropped her phone and rolled from one side on her bed to the other.

Angel sat on her bed, staring at the door. she was waiting for Jessica to return. Jessica left the hostel without telling her where she was going to, and it was already 8:pm, and she has still not returned.

The door suddenly opened and Jessica entered.

"why did you leave........." Angel wanted to ask but stopped immediately she saw Henry walking behind Jessica.
"Henry what are you doing here?" Angel asked, surprised.

"I invited him to have dinner with us" Jessica responded.

"oh really! welcome to our room Henry" Angel said.

"thanks" Henry responded.

"please have a sit" Angel said, pointing to a plastic chair in the room.

"thanks" Henry responded and sat down.

"Henry actually helped me out with that statistics topic" Jessica told Angel.

"wow! that's very nice of you" Angel said to Henry.

"if you also need my help, you should not hesitate to ask. I will be glad to help." Henry said.

"okay, I will do. thanks very much" Angel said.

Jessica brought a plate of rice and served Henry.

"thank you" Henry responded and collected the food.

As he ate silently, he kept thinking of how he would tell Angel that he like her. he doesn't want to waste any more time. He would ask her out when next they met. he wouldn't want to do it now in Jessica's presence.

When he was done eating, he thank them and stood up to leave.

"let me see you off" Jessica said and stood up also.

Henry waved at Angel and left the room with Jessica. they walked side by side each other, until they got to the hostel gate.

"okay, thanks once more for the food." Henry said.

"thanks also for finding time to explain sample theory to me. I really appreciate it." Jessica said.

"it's nothing. whenever you need my assistance, don't hesitate to ask" Henry responded.

"you are a very nice guy" Jessica said, staring deeply into Henry's eyes

"you are a very nice lady also. and you are very pretty" Henry responded.

Jessica stared at Henry with her face curved in a smile, and Henry stared back. After a while of staring silently at each other, Henry spoke.

"okay then, see you in school tomorrow" Henry said.

"okay, see you too" Jessica responded.

Henry turned and left for his hostel. Jessica didn't leave. she stood at the same spot staring at the retreating figure of Henry with smiles on her face. when Henry was out of sight, she turned and walked back to her room.

Episode 6


Angel stood like a log of wood, staring at Jewel's retreating figure. she couldn't believe what just happened. it was not like she was coming to apologize. she only wanted to tell him that Dr. Femi wants to see him. she stood at the garden for close to 3 minutes without leaving. After a while of standing, she left the garden.

Francis sat alone in an empty class. he seemed to be lost in his thought. A lot seemed to be on his mind. he hasn't been himself for a while now, and that's because of the lady he saw in class. He has been thinking about her from the first day he saw her. He couldn't explain the kind of feelings he was having. There was something special about that lady he can't seemed to explain. Or has he fallen in love with her. He can't possibly fall in love with someone he was just meeting for the first time. He knew nothing about her. how can he just be thinking about a lady he has never spoken to. he really don't understand what is going on. he was lost in thought that he didn't know when someone walked into the class.

'hey you' he heard behind him.

He quickly turned to see Lucy standing behind him. Her face was curved in a smile. He froze immediately he saw her. That was the same lady he was thinking about, and here she was, standing beside him. He couldn't do much to hide the surprise look on his face.

Lucy walked to him and sat beside him.

"why are you sitting here alone? what are you thinking?" she asked.

"erm....... erm....." he stammered.
He seemed not to have recovered from the shock of seeing her beside him.

Lucy placed a hand on his shoulder and stared into his eyes.

"are you okay? what's the problem?" she asked, feeling concerned.

"not.....no.....nothing" Francis stammered.
Lucy presence is making him uncomfortable. he never expected to see her there.

"are you sure?" she asked.

"ye... yes" he answered.

"okay if you say so" Lucy said.

There was a deafening silence for a why before Lucy spoke.

"you must be Jewel's friend. I saw you together today in class." Lucy said.

"yeah, he is my friend. my childhood friend" Francis responded.

"wow! you have been friends with jewel from childhood" she said.

"yeah" Francis responded.

"that means you will know a lot about him" Lucy said.

"yeah" Francis responded.

"actually, my friend misunderstood him and had to say some bad words to him. can you give me his number so that I can call him and apologize on her behalf." Lucy said.

"that won't be a problem" Francis responded.

Lucy gave Francis her phone and he typed Jewel's number. he returned the phone when he was done.

"thank you" Lucy said

"you are welcome" Francis responded.

"when are you leaving this place?" she asked.

"I'm about leaving" Francis responded.

"let's leave together then" Lucy said.

"okay" he responded.

They stood up and left the class together.

Jewel entered his room to see Henry already in the room. Henry was lying on his bed. He sat up immediately he saw.

"you are back. what took you so long. the class ended some hours ago" Henry said

"I went to the faculty garden to get some fresh air" Jewel responded.

"okay" Henry said.

Jewel walked to his bed and sat on the edge.

"I have talked to Angel already" Jewel said.

"really!" Henry said and rushed to sit beside Jewel on his bed.
"what did you tell her?" Henry asked, curiously.

"I told her to stay away from me. I told her that we should pretend like we have never met and avoid each other whenever we see each other" Jewel responded.

Henry stared at Jewel confused. Jewel noticed the looked on Henry's face.

"what's wrong. why are you staring at me that way?" Jewel asked.

"I thought you wanted to end the quarrel with her" Henry said.

"yes, that was what i did" Jewel responded.

"how can you say you ended the quarrel with what you said to her." Henry said.

"what's wrong with what I said? isn't it better that we avoid each other" Jewel said.

"I thought you want to make peace with her" Henry said.

"I think this is the best way to make peace. I really don't want to start having problem with someone you plan to date" Jewel responded.

"okay if you say so" Henry said.

"have you told her that you like her?" Jewel asked.

"no" Henry responded.

"why?" Jewel asked.

"I'm waiting for the right time" Henry responded.

"when is the right time? you better make the move now or you might regret it later. Angel is a very beautiful lady. do you know the number of guys that might be admiring her. if you waste any time, you might lose her to someone else" Jewel advised.

Henry thought for a while.

"thanks Jewel. I will do exactly that. I will approach her and tell her how I feel" Henry said.

"that's what you should do" Jewel responded.

A knock sounded on the door and they turned their attention to the door. the door opened almost immediately and Francis walked in. he went straight to Jewel's bed and sat down.
He wasn't looking too happy.

"what's wrong?" Jewel asked.

"nothing" Francis responded.

"you haven't gone to your hostel?" Jewel asked.

"my roommate wouldn't have returned. I will be alone in the room, that's why I came here instead" Francis responded.

"okay" Jewel said.

There was a deafening silence in the room for a while before Francis spoke.

"how do you know when you are in love?" he asked.

Jewel and Henry turned to face him immediately. they stared at him suspiciously.

"who are you in love with?" Jewel asked.

"not me. someone asked me this same question, but I couldn't give him a reasonable response, that's why I decided to ask you" he responded and look away immediately.

He took a side glance at Jewel and Henry to see if they believed him.

"when you are in love, you will know. you won't need anyone to tell you" Henry responded.

"just like that?" Francis asked.

"yeah, just like that" Henry responded.

Francis didn't ask anymore question. he just accepted Henry's response. He stayed with them for a while, and when it was getting dark, he left for his hostel.

Jewel and Henry left the hostel very early for lecture. The class was almost filled when they got to the lecture hall. they went to the far-left and sat down.
The lecturer was not yet in class. They waited silently for the lecturer. Few minutes later, The course rep walked into the class. he went straight to meet Jewel.

"Dr. Femi wants to see you." the course rep said.

"now?" jewel asked.

"yes, now" he responded.

"can't you see lecture is about to begin" Jewel said.

"I'm just here to deliver Dr. Femi message. he wants you in his office now" the course rep said and left Jewel's presence.

"why is Dr. Femi looking for you?" Henry asked immediately the course rep left.

"I don't know. I will have to go and find out." Jewel responded.

He stood up and left the class immediately.

The lecturer walked into the class immediately Jewel left. He went straight to the board and began the business of the day.

Jewel stood in front of Dr. Femi's door. He tried to think of what might make Dr. Femi wants to see him, but couldn't think of anything reasonable.
After a while of standing at the door, he knocked softly on it.

"come in" Dr. Femi's voice sounded from inside.

He slowly entered to see Dr. Femi sitting behind his desk. he was reading the morning newspaper. Jewel locked the door behind him.

"good morning sir" Jewel greeted.

There was no response from Dr. Femi. he didn't even take his gaze off the newspaper he was reading.

Jewel stood beside the door without saying anything else. he waited silently for Dr. Femi to round up with what he was doing.

30 minutes later, Dr. Femi was still reading the same newspaper. he didn't even take a glance at Jewel's direction. Jewel looked at his watch and realized that he was 30 minutes late for his lecture. He was becoming impatient, just standing there.

"sir you sent for me" he said.

Dr. Femi didn't respond. instead he drop the newspaper he was reading and picked another one, and started reading it.

Jewel's eyes widen in surprise. he stared at the lecturer who just completely ignored him.

The lecturer ended his lecture and left the class. every other students left the class also. Henry didn't leave the class. He was waiting for Jewel. jewel hasn't returned since he went to Dr. Femi's office.

"I wonder what Jewel will still be doing in Dr. Femi's office up till now." he said to himself.

He turned to his left to see Jessica also in the class. her gaze was fixed on the book on her desk. They were the only ones left in the class.
He suddenly remember what Jewel said to him.

'I think this will be the best way for me to get close to Angel. I have to get close to her friend. that will be the easiest way to get close to her.' he thought.

He stood up and walked to meet her. he sat beside her.

"what are you still doing in class" Henry asked.

Jessica looked up from her desk to see Henry sitting beside her.

"I'm revising what we learned" she responded.

"okay" Henry said.

"did you understand what was thought in class?" Jessica asked.

"yes" Henry please.

"please can you explain it to me. I don't seem to understand it" Jessica requested.

"now" he asked.

"yes" she responded.

"I can't explain it to you now. I have to be somewhere. come to the faculty garden this evening. I will explain it to you there." he said

"okay no problem. I will be there" she responded.

Henry heaved a sigh of relief. he couldn't imagine explaining the topic to her right there in the class, because he don't know a thing about that topic. the didn't pay attention when the lecturer was teaching. he has to go and learn it properly.

"are you not leaving yet?" Henry asked.

"I'm leaving. let's leave together." she responded.

she stood up and they left the class together.

Jewel was still standing in Dr. Femi's office. he has been standing there for close to two hours. Dr. Femi hasn't said a word to him. all he had been doing was reading newspaper. that was the fourth newspaper he was reading. Jewel was already very tired standing in his office. He has missed his first lecture for the day. he couldn't understand why Dr. Femi called him to his office and completely ignored him. 'at least he should have offered me a sit' he thought. he watched the lecturer silently.

Dr. Femi dropped the fourth paper he was reading and was about picking the fifth one.

"sir" Jewel called.

"will you shut up" Dr. Femi barked.

Jewel froze immediately. he didn't see that coming. he stared at Dr. Femi in shock.

"now tell me, how does it feel to be ignored. you didn't know why I was calling you and you ignored it. that's how some of you miss out on opportunities." Dr. Femi said angrily.

Jewel stared at the lecturer, confused. He didn't understand what he was talking about.

"tell me how you feel now" Dr Femi said.
"I asked Angel to call you, and you sent her back to tell me that you are not coming"

Jewel's eyes widen in shock. Angel never said anything to him. why would he refuse to answer Dr. Femi. Angel has lied against him.

"you didn't even know why I asked to see you" Dr. Femi continued.

"but sir............"

"shut up" Dr. Femi barked.
"get out of my office"

"sir I............"

"I say get out"

Jewel rushed out of his office immediately. He never expected such from Dr. Femi. what could Angel have said to him that made him this angry.

"I must confront Angel. I need to know what she said to Dr. Femi." he said and left Dr. Femi's office to look for Angel.

Jewel rushed to the faculty garden to look for Angel. He saw her coming out of the garden when he got there. he approached her immediately and blocked her way. He glared at her.

"why did you lie to Dr. Femi. when did you tell me that Dr. Femi wanted to see me?" he asked.

Angel didn't respond. she just stared silently at Jewel.

"what did you say to Dr. Femi?" he asked.

"I thought you said we should start avoiding each other. why are you approaching me now. please let's stay away from each other." Angel responded and walked out on Jewel.

Jewel stared at the retreating figure of Angel until she was out of sight. He let the garden immediately also.

Episode 5


The lecturer walked to the board and wrote 'first semester test' on it. He turned to face the class.

"I said you should space yourself" he barked.

"please sir" the class chorused.

"will you shut up. do you think I came hear to joke" the lecturer barked.

Some minutes later, students were seen sitting at reasonable distance, away from each other, with their pen and paper on their desk. It seemed that the lecturer really meant what he said. He went to the board and wrote 5 questions for the class to solve. He turned and faced the class when he was done.

"you have 15 minutes to answer the questions. if you like, joke with it. that will be the beginning of failure for you." he said in a serious tune.

The class began the test immediately. While some were still trying to write down some things, others still have their paper blank.

15 minutes later, the lecturer collected the answer scripts. most of the students submitted a blank script, with just their names and matric number on it. only few students were able to write down some things. The questions the lecturer set was suppose to be the topic for that day, which most of the students have no idea of.

"see you all in the next class" the lecturer said and left the class.

A loud uproar filled the class immediately the lecturer left. students gathered in group of three or four to discuss the just concluded test. Henry came to sit beside Jewel immediately.

"how was it?" Henry asked.

"it was cool" Jewel responded.

"you call that scary questions cool. it was not cool on my part o." Henry said.

"why? didn't you finish it?" Jewel asked.

"I didn't even attempt any of the questions. I submitted a blank scripts." Henry responded.

"why?" Jewel asked.

"that's because I don't know any of the questions. I just pray the lecturer won't use it as part of our C.A, because I will surely score zero if he does" Henry said sadly.

"I don't think he will use it." Jewel said.

"anyway, let's put that aside." Henry said.

"okay" Jewel responded.

After a while of silence, Henry spoke.

"Jewel" he called softly.

"yes" Jewel responded.

"I really don't know what transpired between you and Angel, that made her said those things to you, but I just want to plead on her behalf. please forgive her" Henry pleaded.

"why are you pleading on her behalf?" Jewel asked.

"because I like that lady, and I plan to date her. I don't want you to be having problem with someone that might be my girlfriend. I hope you can forgive her" Henry responded.

Jewel stared at Henry for 2 minutes without saying anything. after a while of silence, he spoke.

"I truly don't have anything against her. All I will do from now on is to avoid her, so that there won't be any problem between us. you don't have to worry yourself. you can go on and date her if you like her" Jewel responded.

"thank you very much Jewel." Henry said.

"you are welcome" Jewel responded.

Francis joined them minutes later and they left the class together.

Angel, Jessica and Lucy went to the school restuarant to have lunch. They had attended four lectures already in just one day, and they seemed to be tired and hungry. They sat at the far-left in the restuarant and ate their food silently. After a while of silence, Lucy spoke.

"Angel, I really don't know why you said those things to Jewel. what did he do?" she asked.

"just leave that guy. he thinks he can joke with everyone and go free. certainly not with me" Angel responded.

" I think you must have misunderstood him. maybe he acted rudely to you when he was in a bad mood. he did same to me, but later apologized. he is not who you think he is. he is a very nice guy. you will get to like him if you get close to him." Lucy said.

"why are you speaking as if you have known him for a long time" Angel said.

"I don't need to stay with him for a long time to know that he is a very nice guy." Lucy responded.

The restuarant door opened and their course rep walked in. He went to meet them immediately.

"Angel, I have been searching for you all over the school." The course rep said to Angel.

"Daniel, I hope there is no problem." she said, referring to the course rep. "why are you looking for me?"

"Dr. Femi wants to see you. he said you should meet him in his office" Daniel responded.

Angel froze at the mention of Dr. Femi. That was the same lecturer that gave them an impromptu test just because the class was noisy when he entered.

"why is he looking for me?" Angel asked.

"I don't know. when you get to his office, you will find out yourself" Daniel responded.

Angel stared at Daniel suspiciously for a while, before speaking.

"okay, I will go and see him"she responded and stood up.
"you guys should wait for me. I will be right back" she said to the other ladies and left the restuarant.

Few minutes later, Angel was standing at Dr. Femi's door. she seemed nervous. several thought were running through her mind. could it be that Daniel had told the lecturer that she caused the commotion in class today, and the lecturer wants to punish her for it. she pray silently for that not to be the case. she took a deep breath and knock softly on the door.

"come in" Dr. Femi voice sounded from inside.

she opened the door and slowly entered his office. she locked the door behind her and stood beside it.

"good afternoon sir" she greeted.

Dr. Femi didn't respond. he only focused his attention on the phone he was holding. Angel stood there like a log of wood, without saying anything. After a while, Dr. Femi looked up to face Angel.

"Are you Angel?" Dr. Femi asked.

"ye.... yes sir" she stammered.

"please have a seat" Dr. Femi said.

"sir" she said, not sure if she heard what the lecturer said. she wasn't expecting him to offer her a seat, if he wants to punish her.

"have your seat" Dr Femi repeated.

"thank you sir" she responded and sat down.

"I just marked your test scripts, and I must say that I'm really impressed by what you wrote. Even though I set the test from topic I haven't taught you in class, you still did very well. That showed you are very serious with you study and always reading ahead of the class. I called you here to encourage you to keep it up. if you continue this way, you will surely graduate with a first class degree. make sure you don't allow friends to mislead you. always keep doing the right thing" Dr. Femi advised

"thank you sir. I really appreciate your advice." Angel said.

"okay, you can leave now. that's why I called you here." Dr. Femi said.

Angel stood up to leave.

"please wait" Dr. Femi said.

Angel turned to face Dr. Femi.

"please call me Jewel when you go out" Dr. Femi said.

"Jewel!" Angel said in shock. the same Jewel she is quarreling with.

"yes Jewel. he is another student that did really great in the test. I also what to say some few words to him. you both are really great. you should not relent. you should keep such people as friend. they will surely drive you to success. he knows his reason in this school and is working hard towards achieving it. you both should be close to each other, because you are very serious with your studies." Dr. Femi said.

"thank you sir. let me go and look for him." Angel said.

"okay, you can go now" Dr. Femi responded.

Angel walked out of Dr.
Femi's office and locked the door behind her. she rested her back on the wall and sighed.

"why will Dr. Femi asked me to go and call that jerk, of all people." she said.

She left Dr. Femi's office to look for Jewel.
After searching round the faculty for up to ten minutes, she still couldn't find jewel. She decided to go look for him at the faculty garden.

Jewel sat alone at the faculty garden. he didn't return to the hostel with Henry. he wanted to be alone, so that he could think properly. The first thought that clouded his mind was what Henry said to him in class today. The fact that Henry plans to date Angel kept troubling his mind. He wouldn't want to keep having problem with someone his friend plan to date. he will try as much as possible to avoid her. that will be better for all of them.

A tap on his shoulder brought him back to reality. He turned to see Angel standing beside him. He froze immediately he saw her. that was the same Angel he was trying to avoid. he stared silently at her and she stared back. After a while of deafening silence, Angel spoke.

"I have been searching all over the school for you. I never knew you will be here" she said.

Jewel didn't respond. He just kept staring at her.

"Dr. Femi................"

"do you want to apologize for what you did?" Jewel asked, cutting her off from completing her sentence.

"apologize" Angel said, surprised.

"you have realized what you did wrong and want to apologize. you don't have to apologize, because it's useless apologizing to me. I want to tell you right now that we should never come close to each other. let's just pretend like we have never met and forget all that happened between us. let's ignore each other whenever we meet. I have too many problem already, and I don't want you to add to it. please stay away from me." Jewel said and walked out of Angel.

Angel stood like a log of wood, staring at Jewel's retreating figure. she couldn't believe what just happened. it was not like she was coming to apologize. she only wanted to tell him that Dr. Femi wants to see him. she stood at the garden for close to 3 minutes without leaving.

Jewel stared silently at the lady who refused to reply his greetings. After a while of deafening silence, he spoke again.

"I want to apologize for how I behaved in class today. I was really in a bad mood, that's why I did that. I'm very sorry." he apologized.

The lady looked up from her table once more and stared at him.

"so because you were in a bad mood, that's why you had to transfer your aggression to others" she said.

"I'm very sorry. I allowed myself to be controlled by my emotion. I'm not that rude. if you get to know me better, you will realize I'm a nice guy" Jewel said.

"what you did really got to me. it was not like I did anything wrong. I only took your book from the desk." she said.

"I'm really sorry." Jewel apologized.

"okay, I have heard you. I have even forgotten about it." she responded.

"so we are cool now." Jewel said.

"yeah" she responded.

"thanks." he said

"you are welcome" she responded.

"I'm Lucy" she responded.

Jewel and Lucy ate their food silently, and when they are done, they left the restuarant together.

Jessica returned to her hostel from lecture. She entered her room to see Angel already in the room. Angel was fast asleep. Jessica walked to her bed and tapped her. Angel reluctantly sat up on her bed.

"Angel, I didn't see you in class today. why didn't you come for lecture?" Jessica asked.

Angel hissed and ignored Jessica. Jessica stared at her confused. she couldn't understand why Angel just ignored her.

"Angel what's wrong?" she asked.

"why did you leave the hostel without informing me? you know very well that we were going for the same lecture. yet you left without waking me up" Angel said.

Jessica heaved a sigh of relief.

"I didn't go to class directly. I went to my cousin's hostel first, and we both went for lecture together." she responded.

"why didn't you wake me up at least?" Angel asked.

"I left very early. it was still dark when I left. I left by 6:15am, and our lecture was by 8:am. I didn't want to disturb your sleep " Jessica responded.

"you have a cousin in our department?" Angel asked.

"yes. same level with us." Jessica responded.

"who?" Angel asked.

"Lucy" Jessica responded.

"Lucy is your cousin?" Angel asked.

"yes she is." Jessica responded.
"Angel, are you angry with me? I'm sorry if I have done anything wrong."

"I'm not angry with you. I'm just in a bad mood" she responded.

"what happened?" Jessica asked.

Angel took her phone from her bed and showed to Jessica.

"look at what one idiot I encountered today did to my phone." she said.

" why will someone just damage your phone?" Jessica asked.

"This phone is not even up to a week. My uncle gave me this phone the day i move to my hostel. and one idiot just chose to damage it for me." she said.

"why will someone damage your phone?" Jessica asked.

"and the worst part was that he even insulted me. he called me a mad woman." Angel said, bitterly.

"what! why will someone damage your phone and still insult you for damaging your phone. I hope you didn't allow him to go free after what he did" Jessica said.

"he left before I noticed that my phone screen has broken " Angel responded.

"do you know him?" Jessica asked.

"I'm just seeing him for the first time. I wish I could see him again, then he will regret ever crossing my path." Angel responded.

"that guy is really something else. he damaged your phone and still insulted you for damaging it" Jessica said.

"please give me your note, let me copy what you did in class today" Angel said.

"okay" Jessica responded.

Jessica gave Angel her note and Angel busied herself with it immediately.

Jewel entered his room to see Henry already in the room. Henry was lying on his bed. Jewel locked the door behind him and walked to meet Henry.

"hey bro. I saw you in class today. does that mean we are also coursemates?" Jewel asked.

Henry didn't respond. he wasn't even looking at Jewel.
Jewel sat down beside him and place a hand on his shoulder.

"Henry, I'm very sorry for the way I behaved towards you yesterday. the truth is that, I was really in a bad mood. I shouldn't have transfer my anger to you. I'm very sorry" Jewel pleaded.

Henry turned to face him for the first time.

"what happened? who offended you? why were you in a bad mood?" Henry asked.

"my girlfriend of 5 years broke my heart" Jewel responded.

"why? how did it happen?" Henry asked.

"she gained admission into a university in the south-east. we didn't break up or had any misunderstanding. I thought we were still dating, but not until yesterday. I paid her a surprise visit in school only to see her with another guy, and she introduced the guy to me as her boyfriend." Jewel said, bitterly.

"so sad. This is why I don't like keeping long distance relationship. your girlfriend might have found another guy and move on, and you will be thinking you still have a girlfriend. Anyway, I will advise you to move on with you life, since she has already made it clear to you that she has a new boyfriend. you don't have to worry too much about it, because you will surely get someone better than her" Henry advised.

"That's what i'm trying to do. I want to forget about her and focus on my study" Jewel said.

"that's the best thing to do" Henry responded.

"thank you very much. thanks for understanding why I acted that way." Jewel said.

"we are roommates na. we are suppose to understand each other" Henry responded.

He had reconciled with Lucy and Henry. he still had to reconcile with one more person, and that's Angel.

Angel, Jessica and Lucy walked into the class for their first lecture of the day. the class was half filled when they got there. They located an empty seat and sat down. They waited silently for the lecturer to arrive.

Few minutes later, Jewel, Henry and Francis walked into the class. They went to the back seat and sat down. Angel stood up immediately she saw Jewel. This was the same guy she was dying to meet so that she could get her revenge on him. she didn't even allow them to settle down before she walked to meet them. she got to them and stood in front of Jewel. the three guys looked up to see Angel standing in their front. The look on her face was not funny. Henry waved at her, but she ignored him. she only focus her gaze on Jewel.
Jewel saw her glaring at him and tried to apologize for what he said to her.

"I'm very............."

"oh just shut up" she cut Jewel off.

Angel's voice attracted other student's attentions. everyone in class turned to face Angel and Jewel.

"who do you think you are?" she continued, not minding the stares.
"do you think you can just talk to me anyhow and go free. so you believe I will just let you be after what you said to me. have you seen me before, for you to rain all sort of insult on me. is that how you talk to everyone you come across. you must lack home training. I don't blame you. I blame your parent who didn't raise you up properly." she barked.

Jewel glared at Angel as she barked. he was already very angry. The fact that Angel had to involve his parent in it was what really annoyed him. He glared at Angel, without saying anything and Angel glared back at him.


"what is going on here" A voice suddenly sounded from the entrance.

Everyone turned their attention to the entrance to see the lecturer standing at the door. The look on his face was not funny. He slowly walked to the podium and faced the class.

"class rep" he called.

The class rep stood up immediately.

"sir" the class rep responded.

"can you tell me what the commotion in this class is all about" he said with a stern look.

"erm...... erm........" the class rep stammered.

"so you have suddenly lost your voice. do you think this is a market place where you can scream the way you like. maybe you have forgotten that you are in a university." he barked.

The class rep didn't respond. he only stared silently at the lecturer.

"I know what to do" the lecturer continued.
"tear a sheet of paper all of you, and space yourself"

He walked to the board and wrote 'first semester test' on it. He turned back to face the class.

"I said you should space yourself" he barked.

"please sir" the class chorused.

"will you shut up. do you think I came hear to joke" the lecturer barked.

Episode 3


Jewel walked into his faculty for his first lecture. The lecture was by 8:am. He was already late for his class, but he seemed not to bother. He left his hostel very late after contemplating whether to go for his lecture or not. He didn't want to go at first, but later went after much consideration. Henry had already left the hostel when he woke up. so he locked the room and left the hostel. He didn't look happy when he walked into his faculty. He seemed not to have forgotten what Jane did to him. he was really in a bad mood. He seemed to be lost in thought.

Angel rushed into her faculty. she was already late for lecture. her lecture was by 8:am, but the time was already 8:15am. she woke up very late. Jessica had left the hostel already when she woke up. She seemed not to understand why Jessica didn't wake her up when she knew that they were going for same lecture. she would know her reason for that when she sees her in class.

Angel kept staring at her phone at interval, as she rushed to her lecture hall. she suddenly collided with someone and her phone fell on the ground. she looked up to see Jewel staring at her. Jewel couldn't take his gaze off the lady standing in his front. she was truly a beauty to behold. an epitome of beauty. For that moment, Jewel forgot all his worry. The lady standing in his front can make one forget all his worry. that was the first time he was seeing a lady as beautiful as her. The lady was wonderfully made.

"will you apologize and pick up my phone for me, instead of staring at me like an alien." Angel barked.

she was really pissed that all Jewel could do after bumping into her was to stare at her.

Jewel immediately came back to his senses. He suddenly remember what Jane did to him and his mood change. He hasn't recover from what Jane did to him, and here he was staring at another lady. He suddenly saw Angel as a lady who would also be capable of breaking a guy's heart.

"won't you picked up my phone" Angel said again when he didn't make any move.

"why should I pick up your phone? were you not the one that bumped into me." Jewel said.

"if you were watching you way, you would have realized I was coming this way" Angel said.

"if you were not rushing like a mad woman, you wouldn't have bumped into me." Jewel responded.

Angel mood suddenly changed. Jewel words really got to her.

"did you just call me a mad woman?" she asked, angrily.

"if you are not a mad woman, then learn how to walk properly." Jewel responded.

The more Jewel speaks, the more Angel get angry. she glared at him as if he will strangle him if giving the change.

"I don't have time for rubbish. if you are ashamed to pick up your phone, why not leave it and walk away." Jewel said and walked out on her immediately.

Angel couldn't believe what just happened. she just got the insult of her life. she stared at the retreating figure of Jewel, until he was out of sight. she couldn't move an inch after Jewel left. she stood at the same position for up to 5 minutes. she had totally forgotten that she has a class to catch up with. After a while of standing alone, she slowly picked up her phone. she looked at the phone and realized that the screen had broken.

"what! my phone!" she exclaimed.

Her eyes were already red. She couldn't believe that her phone screen had broken. That was the same phone her uncle gave her, the day she move into school. it was not even up to 4 days.

"this is the fault of that jerk. look at what he did to my phone. How I wish I could see him again. I must surely get my revenge on him" she said, angrily.

After a while, she walked out of the faculty. she didn't bother going for her lecture. she went back to her hostel.

Jewel walked into his lecture hall for the first time since resumption. The lecturer was already in the class and had started lecturing. Jewel walked silently to the back seat and sat down. He paid attention to what the lecturer was saying. He tried to forget his worries for that moment and only focus his attention on the lecturer. The lecture went on smoothly, and he was very sure he understood everything the lecturer explained. Just immediately after lecture, Jewel felt a hand on his shoulder from behind. He turned immediately, to see a guy standing behind him.

He froze immediately he saw the guy.

"Francis!" he called, surprised.

Francis was actually his childhood friend who leave in the same area with him. But they lost contact when Francis relocated to a new area with his parent.

"Jewel!" Francis called also.

They hugged each other immediately.

"long time" Jewel said.

"yeah. long time" Francis responded.

"are you schooling here" Jewel asked.

"yeah, I school here. I was very surprised when I saw you walked into the class. I just have to wait for the lecturer to leave the class before I approach you." Francis responded.

"That means we are in the same department." Jewel said.

"yes" Francis responded.

"wow! this is great. who could have thought that we will meet here." Jewel said.

"I couldn't have imagine it" Francis responded.

"how is everything. how is your mum and dad. I hope everyone is fine" Jewel asked.

"yes, everything is fine" Francis responded.

"we thank God for that" Jewel said.

"How are your parent too? I hope they fine also" Francis asked.

"yes, very fine." Jewel responded.

"what about your love, Jane? I hope she is here with you in this school. I still remember clearly how close you guys were back then. I already saw her as your future wife" Francis said.

A lady sitting beside Jewel, suddenly took Jewel's book from the desk without his permission. He forcefully collected the book back from the lady and shot her an angry gaze.

"hey! I'm not taking it away. I only want to copy the part I missed when the lecturer was dictating." the lady said.

"and who said you can copy from my book?" Jewel asked.

"why are you giving me attitude? do you know me before? This is even the first time I'm seeing you in class. You can eat you book if you want." the lady said and left his side immediately.

Francis stared at Jewel surprised. he couldn't believe Jewel could do such to that lady. He never knew Jewel as someone who could talk rudely to a lady.

"Jewel, what's wrong?" Francis asked.

"nothing" he answered briefly.

"Jewel I know something is wrong. I know this is not you. I know you cannot speak rudely to a lady, no matter what. I won't ask you to tell me what the problem is. but I just want you to know that you should forget whatever is bothering you and be friendly to people. you should forget about whoever offended you and move on with your life. you are in the university now. this is one of the most important chapter of your life. you should achieve the best from it. don't allow what someone did to you in the past to affect your study. live your life to the fullest. make friends and be happy with people around you. with time you will realize that whatever happened in the past, happened for the best reason. I hope you will listen to my advice." Francis said.

Jewel listened with keen interest as Francis advised him. Everything that Francis said was correct. He was certainly behaving rude, because of what Jane did to him. He has to get over this now. Jane has moved on with her life, so he should do the same. They were not meant for each other. he will start leaving his best life here on campus. He will be nice to people he meets. And most importantly, he will ask for forgiveness from those he had already offended. yes, that's what he will do.

"thanks Francis, I have heard you. I will change from now on" he responded.

"that's what I want to hear." Francis said, smiling.
"what's your hall of residence? tell me your room number, so that I can visit you this evening." Francis said.

"Everest hall. room A213" Jewel responded.

"okay, I will pay you a visit this evening. let's start leaving. we seem to be the only ones left in the class"

They left the class together and parted to there different hostel.

He received his meal and tried to look for where to sit. He paused immediately he saw the lady he talked rudely to in class today. He carried his food and went to sit beside her. The lady was so engrossed in her meal to notice his presence.

"hi" he said.

The lady looked up from her table immediately and saw Jewel. she froze immediately she saw him sitting beside her. she stared at him for a while without saying anything.

"hi" Jewel repeated.

The lady didn't respond. instead, she hissed and continued her meal. Jewel stared silently at her, not sure of what to say next.

Episode 2


Jewel froze immediately Jane introduced the guy beside her as her boyfriend. he couldn't believe his ears. Jane must certainly be joking with him. He couldn't even say a word. it was as if he had suddenly lost his voice. He stared silently at them, still in shock. He couldn't even think properly. Several thoughts were running through his mind at the same time. is jane really serious about this, or she is just joking with him. this must certainly be a joke. Jane couldn't have another boyfriend when they didn't break up. He was very sure Jane love him, just the way he love her. So this must certainly be a joke.

Daniel walked to meet him and stretched his hand for a handshake.

"nice to meet you" he said.

Jewel stared silently at him. he didn't receive his handshake. he was yet to recover from the shock. Daniel withdrew his hand when Jewel didn't shake hands with him. he turned to face Jane.

"is your friend okay?" he asked.


Jane didn't respond. she just fixed her gaze on Jewel. Jewel stared back at her with teary eyes. They stared silently at each other. After a while of silence, Jewel turned and plodded out of the faculty. Jane didn't make any attempt to stop him. She just stared at his retreating figure until he was out of sight.

Immediately lecture was over, Angel stood up to leave the class.

"hey miss" the lady sitting beside her all through the lecture called.

She turned to face the lady.

"you were sitting beside me all through the lecture and you didn't say a word to me. now that lecture is over, you also want to leave without even saying hi. This is our first lecture and also the first time we are seeing each other. it's only proper for you to at least say hi to someone you sat with during the lecture. or don't you want to get acquainted to your coursemates?" the lady asked.

Angel sat down back beside the lady and held her hands.

"please I'm very sorry for not greeting you. A lot was on my mind that's why." she pleaded.

"it's okay. I just wanted to know why you will sat down beside me and never bothered to say a word to me. since you have explained yourself now, I'm good.... So what's your name? the lady asked.

"Angel" Angel responded.

"wow! nice name. you really look like an angel. you are so beautiful." the lady said.

"Jessica" the lady responded.

Jane also stared back at him without saying anything. They stared silently at each other. After a while of deafening silence, Jane spoke.

"Jewel, I'm very sorry. I hope you will find someone who will love you better. please forgive me" she said.

Jewel stared at her with so much pain. He tried not to blink, to prevent the tears which had already form in his eyes from dropping. He stared silently at Jane. After a while, he turned and walked out from the school gate without saying a word to Jane.

Angel went to the school cafeteria to have lunch. she didn't eat before coming for lecture, because she was already late. she went to the counter to order for food. when she received her food, she walked to the far-right and sat down. Just after 5 minutes of eating, a guy walked up to her and sat opposite her. she looked up from her table to see the guy boring holes on her body, with his eyes.

"hi" the guy greeted.

she didn't respond immediately. she observed him for a while before responding.

"hi" she responded.

"I saw you in class today. that means we are coursemates" the guy said.

"oh! you are an economics student" Angel said.

"yes" the guy responded.

"you are the second person from my department I'm meeting today" Angel said.

"with time, you will get to know everyone." the guy said.

"yeah, that's true" Angel responded.

"by the way, I'm Henry"

"I'm Angel"

"what a beautiful name for a beautiful lady" Henry said.

"thank you" Angel responded.

"so tell me Angel, how was your first lecture in school?" Henry asked.

"it was cool. the lecturer is cool also. I like the way he explained very thing bit by bit." Angel responded.

"I'm glad to hear that" Henry said.

"I have to leave now. see you in class tomorrow" Angel said.

Angel stood up and left the cafeteria.

Angel went straight to her hostel immediately she left the cafeteria. she got to her hostel and tried to open her door, but it didn't open. the door was locked from inside. that means her roommate was inside the room. she knocked softly on the door and waited for response. few seconds later, the door opened to reveal Jessica at the door.

"Jessica!" Angel called, surprised.

"Angel! what are you doing here?" Jessica asked.

"is this your room?" Angel asked

"yes, this is my room" Jessica responded.

"that means we are roommates" Angel said.

"wow! is this your room also?" Jessica asked.

"yes" Angel responded.

"wow! this is great. we are coursemates and also roommates. That means we are destined to be best of friends." Jessica said.

Jewel alighted from a cab in front of the university gate. he settled the cab man and he drove off. it was late already. The time was 11:15pm. He was just returning from Jane's school. He left Jane school immediately after that incident. He didn't even rest a bit. He boarded the next available bus back to his school. He was very tired. he hasn't eaten anything since morning, and there was no way he could get something to eat right there in his school, because it was late already. He dragged his luggages along with him into the school and went straight to his hostel.

He got to his hostel and entered his room to find Henry already in the room. Henry was sitting on a chair. He stood up immediately he saw Jewel.

"you must be my roommate. I have been waiting curiously to meet you. welcome to our room" Henry said and stretched his hand for a handshake.

Jewel ignored him and went to sit on his bed.

Henry walked to meet him and stood in his front.

"hey! that was not a proper way to treat your roommate. I just welcomed you to our room and you completing ignored me" Henry said.

"will you please leave me alone. mind you business" Jewel barked.

Henry froze immediately. he didn't see that coming. He wasn't expecting such response from Jewel. he quietly went to his bed and sat down without saying anything else to Jewel.

Jewel hasn't been himself. he was still heart broken. what Jane did to him kept reappearing in his mind. he sighed and lay on his bed.


Henry still couldn't believe that Jewel shouted at him. it was not like they knew each other before. They were just meeting for the first time. why would he shout at him when he only tried to be nice.

He took a side glance at Jewel's direction and found him already asleep.
