Some Nigerians on twitter feel Lagos state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode hasn’t performed to expectation in his first 100 days in office. Maybe we should give him more time? See some tweets below..

Celebrities / Re: Linda Ikeji To Be Penalized By Google For "Copy And Paste" (see Tweets) by infoscope(m): 9:46am On Oct 07, 2014
Just recently Linda Ikeji's blog has come under intense attack, with a group of persons hell bent on closing down her blog. See her epic response to all of this here...

Webmasters / Linda Ikeji Finally Responds To The Guy Who Wants To Take Down Her Blog by infoscope(m): 9:31am On Oct 07, 2014
The widely acclaimed richest blogger in Nigeria, Linda Ikeji has finally responded to the threat from some unscrupulous elements that her blog will be taken down by Google. Below is the epic response as posted on her blog

So something has been going on for the past couple of days that I haven’t reacted to because I wanted to see it play out and see how far these people will go. They have gone far and it’s now time to react.

The only reason this is happening to me is because I’m number one…so I am flattered. I am currently No.10 on Alexa.com, more read than all the other news sites in Nigeria, so I understand why I am the target. If I were them, I’d hate me too…lol.

So here’s what’s going on. Sometime last year, some guys decided it was time to run me out of business (duh, like you can…lol). So they began to spam by blog. And when your blog gets a lot of spam, Google (which hosts my site) can take your blog down. But instead of taking my blog down, Google took my Adsense down for a few months and eventually re-instated it. So they didn’t succeed. These same people started sending strange emails to me…looking for different ways to have access to my blog. But I wouldn’t let them. If they could, they would have hacked it, but they couldn’t so they continued to look for different ways to attack my blog. Please continue…

In April 2014, these guys decided to close down the blog again. In the emails they exchanged back and forth, they said ‘plagiarism is a good excuse to finish her’. (they forget that if they succeed in closing down LIB because I’m on blogger…I could easily start a website). Now let me tell you who these guys are. They are IT people, security experts who know how the internet works. They are hackers and cyber-squatters…and only go after the biggest internet setups.

Immediately after I shared photos of my new SUV, these guys re-connected again and decided it was finally time to end LIB because there were quite a few people who were mad that I bought the car and they wanted to play on their emotions. The head of this team is a guy who goes by the name @MrAyeDee on twitter. They decided to use the plagiarism card. He said it was the strongest claim to make and easiest way to get support from other people. And then the campaign started with him claiming that I took something from him without crediting him or asking for permission. 100% false. If he owns a website, I’ve never visited it. He started by writing all sorts to get people to notice…and then he acted. Like I said these guys are IT experts, they know what to do to get blogger/Google to come after you. So he and his team started filling several reports, sending links of my blog posts and making claims to Google. Outrageous false claims. And because Google acts first before they contact the blog owner, they took down some posts and asked me to file a counter claim if I felt I had a right to re-publish those articles. Now that my blog is under Google review, these guys have started to spam it again.

They want Google to shut it down. That is their aim. Will they succeed? I sincerely don’t know. I’m not an IT expert…I know they are spamming and filing complaints, I don’t know what else they are doing behind the scenes but they are relentless.

Now let me give you guys a bit who this Aye Dee guy is. He’s anonymous on Twitter. Nobody really knows who he is but according to those investigating him, his name is Emmanuel Efremov simply known as EE by his friends. He’s the owner of 15Past8.com media group. Based in Manhattan. Gets funding from some US organization. (His number – 212 9608127). He’s apparently been stalking me for years now and have registered quite a number of my domain names…lindaikeji.net plus 8 others. He also owns 9jalife.com…yep, he owns a blog. He accuses me of copyright infringement but when you go to 9jalife and other websites he owns…98% of the things he has on there are other people’s content. You see pot calling kettle black? Lol.

Immediately he was found out yesterday, the IT expert immediately started to redirect lindaikeji.net to my blog. If you click lindaikeji.net now, it will redirect you to this blog. He panicked yesterday and quickly did it. A name he register as far back as 2011. Lol. Choi!

Not only that, he’s also a cyber squatter. Yep, he registers 100s of websites belonging to others around the world and tries to make money off them. Guess one of his aims is to run me out of blogger so I come to him and his team and pay thousands of dollars to get one of the several names he’s registered. Not going to happen, boo! Hehe

Below is an article from lawyer and blogger Uduak Udouk of Africa Music Law about this guy and his cyber-squatting criminal activities

“According to a twitter handle owned by @MrAyeDee, celebrity blogger Linda Ikeji was accused of copyright infringement of his works. He reported these infringing activities to Google and what resulted was a take down of his articles/works on her site. He also claimed with the rate and way things looked, Linda Ikeji’s site could be shut down within a week.

I get the fact that this guy was concerned about Ikeji’s activities and got Google to do something about it. What I don’t get is his very strong response and continued massive tweets talking about the same issue in an almost vendetta like style towards her. This got me curious to know who he was and what could be a motive behind all of these.

I began by looking at his twitter page and narrowed in on his website www. 15Past8.com. The description of the services he offered through his media group raised my curiosity. He says his media group owns “hundreds of websites.” He also claimed some of the infringing content on Linda Ikeji came from his site. Well one of his hundreds of websites is 9jalife.com because it has the 15Past8.com media group stamped on it. I did a basic search on 9jalife.com to see who owns it. The name ‘Emmanuel Efremov’ came up as the registered owner of 9jalife.com. 9jalife.com is clear it is owned by 15Past8.com media group, @MrAyeDee’s company.

For my article on Linda Ikeji, many have been saying they are surprised she does not own her own domain. Purely out of curiosity, I looked up Lindaikeji.com and noted it is owned by someone else, a case of cybersquatting. I also look up Linda Ikeji.net and see the same ‘Emmanuel Efremov’ come up. Now I am very curious. How is it that Emmanuel Efremov owner of 9jalife.com, a subsidiary of 15Past8.com, also owns LindaIkeji.net? Am I missing something?

Needless to say, I google the name ‘Emmanuel Efremov’ and lo and behold, there is a case by Volkswagen against an Emmanuel Efremov for cybersquatting. Looking at the description of 15Past8.com, the registered domain owner of 9jalife.com and Lindaikeji.net and the case by Volkswagen against Emmanuel Efremov, I am left feeling that the credibility of @MrAyeDee is shot and very weak at best. It also makes me wonder about any prior existing relationship between him and Linda Ikeji as to the issue of domain ownership i.e. cybersquatting. It is not uncommon for cybersquatters to ask you the legitimate owner of a trademark to pay them to own your own website.

If you accuse someone of copyright infringement, it is a good idea to make sure your hands are very clean and there is no connection whatsoever with a possible bad faith attempt to hijack their domain name. I am curious to see where all of these leads.” Uduak UdoukNow talking about copyright infringement, Mr Aye Dee feels that crediting source is not enough, that I have to write a written permission to the website owner. That’s laughable at best. So if there’s a breaking news on TMZ, I will first write to the editors and wait for the 2/3 days it will take them to reply me…that’s if they even bother to.

I admit that I take content from other sites. Plenty of it sef, but the question is, which website in the world doesn’t? If you go on Bossip.com, 50% of what is there is from other sources. Daily Mail UK takes from other sites, re-writes and give credit. UK Mirror takes from other sites. MediaTakeOut quotes other sources. E! Online, Us Weekly, People and even CNN take news from other sources and give credit, so why is mine an offense to the extent that my blog deserves to be shut down? Even in Nigeria, which site doesn’t take news from other sites? Which? That is how media runs. Perez Hilton makes $10million a year from blogging and 50% of the content on his site is not originally his. As long as you give credit…which I do! Except in cases where you don’t know the original source of the story or photo. So many blogs take content from my site, how many of them have I gone after? In fact, I’m happy that they do so, I have nothing against it. If I take content from another site and they approach me to take it down despite giving credit, I will take it down. But that doesn’t happen.

I try as much as possible to get as many exclusives as I can, but because I work from home my team is so small. I’ve been planning to employ more hands which I will do eventually and then get a proper office. I’m kinda glad this happened. It’s now pushing me to act and take my business more seriously.

So Mr Aye Dee, Mr EE, Mr #bringmedown or whoever you are and Jeremy Weate (look who is talking ..lol) and all the others talking, I am not afraid of you! You didn’t bring me this far and you’re not enough to bring me down. Like if you dream it, speak it, act it, hope it, envision it, see it, pray it….YOU are not enough! You can’t bring a good woman down. You can try boo, or please keep trying…but you see this lady, she ain’t going nowhere. You don’t even know who you are dealing with. You don’t know what drives me and how far I plan to go. I’ve been a hustler since I was 17, doing it on my own…on my own terms. Plus I have the backing of God…and of course my hundreds of thousands of readers. I repeat, YOU are not enough!

I have been blogging for close to eight years and I plan to be around for many more years to come, so get used it. If you manage to close down LIB, I’ll come back bigger and better. So keep trying boo! And enjoy all the attention you will get from this post…you’ve earned it. Kisses!

Oh by the way Mr EE, one of your friends who you were doing the #bringlindaikejidown campaign with has turned against you and contacted me. He’s a LIBer just like you…hehe…but decided it wasn’t fair and reached out to me. God bless you Mr Aye Dee. I hope your hustle also pays. All the best.

To others reading this, if you want to be successful in life, please prepare yourselves for something like this. People don’t go after failures. You have to be really crazy to gather to plot the downfall of an orange seller or a gate-man (with all due respect). These people go after successes. Once you succeed in any field, they will come after you…it’s inevitable. Ask everyone who has succeeded. It’s not whether they will try, because they will…it’s how you respond to it that matters.

Don’t you ever, listen to me, ever let anyone defeat you. You didn’t work so hard to get to the top for somebody who didn’t know how you struggled to bring you down. You will be disappointing God. You don’t even know how disappointed He will be. How dare you let them win? They will come for you…that’s a guarantee just make sure you defeat them.

These people are not even haters..they are excuses…they are the natural reaction to success…put in this world to take actions against people who are climbing the ladder of success. If they see you’re about to fly, they will try to cut your wings because when you fly, there’s no stopping you anymore. And that’s what they want to do…to stop you! Don’t let them distract you. Stay focused on your dreams and keep flying.

Lastly, You know how negative voices can be so loud that you can’t hear the positive ones? In moments like that just quiet the noise and listen again…listen only to the positive ones…because they are all that matters.

May all your dreams come true! May everything you put your hands into succeed. May your enemies show their faces so you know who they are…but may they never win.

Thank you so much to all LIB readers for your loyalty all these years. I keep saying you changed my life and I will always be grateful. Long live LIB.

Thanks guys and have a blessed day.
Now back to blogging!

Education / Breaking News; Students Protesting In FUTO Now by infoscope(m): 1:11pm On Sep 18, 2014
Sequel to yesterdays SUG election that was highly rigged , Nigerian students are on the street calling for its outright cancellation.

See what happened in the election here. https://www.nairaland.com/1908794/sham-called-futo-sug-2014

Education / The Sham Called FUTO SUG 2014 ELECTION. by infoscope(m): 11:40am On Sep 18, 2014
You begin to have faith in the future of this country and then one thing happens and you discover that the future of Nigeria is really bleak. Yesterday, FUTO students witnessed what could be best described as the worst case of electoral malpractices in recent years as the sham called the FUTO SUG 2014 Election was held.

When some candidates were unerringly screened out for some sinister motives, I particularly knew we were in for a ‘very long’ election. First, A Presidential candidate was disqualified for reasons that he was too good for the job and then a Director of Transport aspirant was disqualified just because he was standing on the way of another presidential candidate from his department.

However, the disqualifications are not the bone of contention as it has become traditional for candidates to be unjustly screened out in FUTO SUG elections. What however is the issue is the level of back-biting, bribery and rigging noticed in yesterday’s election.

When ‘Onochie David Edozie’ started his campaign many people feared for the way he was spending money with ostentation. When students were not allowed to print digital coloured posters and campaign materials, ODE printed materials that would compete in quality with the type used in gubernatorial and presidential elections. At a particular point he shared ‘CASIO Calculators’ worth over a thousand naira to students. ODE didn’t just end with spoiling students with money and gifts but went further to oil the palms of some shameless, greedy self-acclaimed “stakeholders” who felt that with money all is solved.

In order to make sure ODE wins the election even in the department of his major opponent, the e-voting software was compromised as the programmer was paid heavily by this same set of greedy stakeholders to do their selfish bidding. How can you explain the fact that Anaemeotu Steven a presidential aspirant will get just 4 votes in his department and his opponent ODE almost 160 votes? And this same thing happened in most of Steven’s strongholds.

How can you also explain the fact that Onyema Jeremiah a Secretary-General aspirant of Mechanical engineering department will get 0 votes in his own department and his opponent get over a 100 votes?
I am currently compiling the names of everybody involved in this sham and very soon your faces and names will grace the walls of Facebook, the threads of Nairaland, the timelines of Twitter and the pages of news bulletins. Nobody will be spared, it’s a promise. After this campaign the words of Ecclesiastes 7:1 you will begin to make sense to you.

However, to all those who refused to be compromised, who refused to be intimidated with money, I salute you all. We are fighting this battle to the end. FUTO will soon trend in Nigeria, and it’s going to be for the wrong reasons.

Leadership is not about a title or a designation. It's about impact, influence and inspiration. Impact involves getting results and influence is about spreading the passion you have for your work. These men have been able to influence not just their cliques of friends or departments but their faculties and the school generally. The mere mention of their names commands a lot of respect and admiration.

This list currently in its second year is an attempt by the INFOSCOPE-FUTO to profile and recognize students in final year who are leaving behind their indelible marks in the sands of Politics, Leadership, Education and Administration. However, we think this list is not exhaustive but because we needed to profile ten students out of the pools of names sent in by our esteemed readers we are restricted to just this.

1.Barr. Comr. Opara Joseph Pa Chigo

Some men pull the strings in FUTO politics, but then there are those who control those who pull the strings, Pa Chigo as he is fondly called falls into the latter. If you do not Know Pa Chigo then there is a chance you are not a FUTO student. He is the chairman of the largest political party in FUTO, the Coalition National Party and one time President of the prestigious FUTO Bar association. One of the few FUTO politicians that has around him this aura of elegance and charisma. He is no doubt somebody many FUTO students look up to.

2. Comr. Okereke Godson.

Bishop as he is fondly called is the immediate past SUG President under the Aluta Impression. One man known for his political dexterity, eloquence and pragmatism. Little wonder at his handover/inauguration of the present SUG executives the Vice Chancellor in his speech called him the best SUG president he has ever worked with. While he was the SUG president he was also the Chairman, council of SUG Presidents in Imo State. He is currently the President Imo youth Liberation Movement.

3. Hon. Onuegbu Emmanuel.

‘Emma Ngwo’ as he is fondly called is a grassroots politician that has risen along the ranks to become the Chairman of the PDP in FUTO. He is a onetime Member, Students Representing Council that represented Mathematics Constituency. When you are playing opposition to the ruling party, you know politics isn’t easy. Emma Ngwo has comfortably done that and is still raising his head high.

4. Hon. Nwannah Dexter:

An Honourable commissioner in the Independent students Electoral Commission in this year’s FUTO SUG election, Dexter is the board of trustees Chairman of the largest political party in FUTO; the Coalition National party and a onetime Member Students Representative Council that represented Environmental Technology Constituency. He is a man that is well respected in School of Environmental Technology where he emanates. He carries with him this confident demeanor that has endeared him to many.

5. Comr. Akpan Cyril.

If you have not attended any event or program in FUTO where ‘A Cyril’ was the compère then you’ve not attended any event in School. He is the immediate past SUG Public relations officer and a student of Environment Technology. He is arguably the best compère FUTO has now. If you are looking at being the best of a publicist in FUTO, you are looking at being Cyril.

6. Comr. Joshua Ihejiamaizu

Joshua may not be a politician but his influence in the tech community in FUTO cannot be overlooked. He is a final year Electrical and Electronics Engineering student who has ruled the tech space in FUTO for few years now. He is the immediate past technical director of Enactus FUTO and Co-owner of Nixit, a company that leverages on IT to deliver innovative health solutions. In 2013 he won the NASA Space Challenge alongside two other FUTO students and represented team Nigeria at the Enactus worldcup at Washignton in 2012.

7. Comr. Okonkwo Bruno

Obama as he is popularly known, is the immediate past Secretary General of the Students Union Government and a powerful politician from Project Management Technology Department. His Politics has transcended FUTO and he now holds some enviable offices in the mainstream politics, in the PDP precisely.

8. Comr. Egwuatu Francis Beacon.

A man of many things to many persons. To some he is a politician, to others a journalist and to some others a model. Just recently he became the Mr. Nigeria Universe after becoming Mr. Universe Anambra last year. He is a founding member of The Infoscope-FUTO, a onetime Secretary General of Hall E, Society of Mechanical Engineering Students and finally Nigerian Universities Engineering Students Association. When next you see a Toyota Matrix Car branded “Mr Anambra Universe” around school, Know it is Francis Beacon.

9. Comr. Dike Susan

The National Women leader Coalition Party FUTO and a former Hall C Governor and SUG Treasurer. One of the few female politicians that worth their onions. She is a student of Financial Management Technology and a politician so many females look up to.

10. Patriot Ejeh Ogonna

The fear of ‘Man-O-War’ they say, is the beginning of wisdom in FUTO . They command a lot of respect wherever they go. They are charged with the sole responsibility of protecting the lives and properties of Nigerian students. Somebody is in charge of this command and Ejeh Ogbonna is the one. He is a final year student of Biotechnology department

Education / How The 2014 FUTO SUG Presidential Election Will Be Won And Lost by infoscope(m): 10:03am On Sep 09, 2014
In FUTO if you are in Suit with a briefcase or bag moving from one lecture hall to another you are either a pastor from one of the fellowships or a self-acclaimed messiah seeking to return FUTO to the promised ‘Glory land’ and make it the best university in the entire country. The latter perfectly describes the current situation of things in School. It’s the second semester and as usual we are already getting bored of the usual clichés; ‘your boy is loyal’, “carry your boy along”, ‘I need your mandate’ e.t.c

But beyond all the politicking, blackmails and back stabbing which are characteristics to elections how far has the different presidential aspirants fared in convincing Nigerian students to vote for them and what are their chances of finally ‘becoming’? This piece will go a long way to answering these questions.

On the last count we have four candidates running for the coveted position of ‘Aluta No 1’ and if I am not mistaken they are Anaemeotu Steven, Onochie David Edozie , Holget Emmanuel and of course the current Hall A Governor; Okoroafor Joseph.

Anaemeotu Steven, a 300L student of the department of Information Management Technology who was one of the very first to declare his interest has been going round school begging Nigerian students to ‘let a Clairvoyant man rePRESent’. Steven’s major strength comes from the fact he is from a department feared for her political antecedents and history. A department that few years ago produced an SUG President in a fiercely conducted election that saw the strong contender disqualified on the bases of state of origin. That’s story for the gods. While Steven may not be flaunting money with ostentation like some of his opponents, he has got a ‘sweet mouth ‘with a cool innocent demeanor that has endeared him to many students; males and females alike. According to Steven he intends making Wi-Fi services work in FUTO and at a very affordable amount too, if that is enough to make him win, I don’t know but one thing I know for sure is that Steven is a BIG threat.
If you haven’t heard or seen the name ‘ODE’ chances are that you are a student of ‘Umuagwo’ and not FUTO. From Eziobodo to Umuchima to Ihiagwa and possibly Obinze you get greeted with this name written boldly on walls. Onochie David Edozie is coming as a revolutionary, preaching change everywhere he goes. Accepted change is the only constant thing as Heraclitus rightly puts, but are FUTO students eager for that change. The next few weeks will tell. One major thing that has characterized his campaign is the way and manner he flaunts his wealth. Currently, I am yet to see anyone with a more flamboyant campaign. While this has made him pretty popular amongst students, it does cast aspersions upon his credibility. For proponents of this school of thought, the more you spend during campaign the likelihood of you milking the union dry when you eventually become. But then you cannot rule out the possibility of him being sincere and credible. The major challenge he will be facing no doubt will come from his department (Polymer and Textile Engineering) and his state of Origin. In an ideal setting competency, proficiency, pragmatism and credibility ought to be the bases of judging aspirants and not state of origin and department. Unfortunately, our society today is far from being ideal, hence these things count. The current SUG President being a student of Polymer and Textile Engineering, I am yet to be convinced if FUTO politics is matured enough to allow somebody from the same department take over from him.
The issue of non-indigenes not contesting in the FUTO SUG presidential election has been a major topic of debate for so many years as even last year a strong candidate was disqualified on this basis. We are yet to see how ODE will wade through this maze of challenges and come out successful. Time will tell.

The third candidate is the very popular ‘Holget Emmanuel’ from the department of Project Management Technology. He is a son of the soil, Eziobodo precisely and that already is a big boost. Holget became popular when he started doing Mathematics tutorials for pre-degree students here in school and since then he has grown from strength to strength to become a tutorial master to of repute. The question on everybody’s lips is if his popularity will translate to victory at the polls. His major challenge will come from the fact that he has two other opponents from his faculty; SMAT.

The last entrant to the race but definitely not the least is the current Governor of Hostel A; Comr. Okoroafor Joseph. When all thought the race was just between Steven, ODE and Holget, this vibrant and articulate young fellow from Transport Management Technology department believes he has what it takes to give the former three a run for their money. His major strength has to come from occupants of Hall A where it has been gathered he is doing quite well and the fact that he is popular among catholic students in STACC. Findings however reveal that while he may be popular in STACC not many people are aware of his political ambition. His performance at the polls will now depend on how well he is able to cover the entire schools and department in a space of three weeks or thereabout.

Finally, I doubt the possibility of three candidates running from SMAT as against one from SEET. SMAT surely has its agenda and that will be greatly jeopardized if three of them are allowed to finally contest. The political shenanigans have started and a consensus candidate emerging amongst the three candidates is almost inevitable. Will Steven step down for Holget, or will Holget step down for Joseph or is it going to be the other way round. The events of the following few days will make it clearer to us. But before then let us not underestimate the influence of the ‘innovatives’ and the ‘powerfuls’. They have proved over time that they know the game better and this time around, there will be no exception.
May the best candidate win.
