Politics / Ebola Might Be A Scam! by infoscope(m): 2:07pm On Aug 22, 2014
I know you already have your reservations against my caption, but you might want to keep them under bucket until you get to the end of this article, just follow closely and let’s review this together.

Towards the end of last month a deadly and very contagious disease EVD (EBOLA virus disease) was said to have resurfaced after some patients started showing the symptoms’ again. The deadly disease known to have started way back as at the 70’s has found its way amongst humans again and this time more effectively.

The substantiation of all the stories there is about this disease is barely my business, but how the government of Nigeria, known to take advantage of any situation, especially negative, for their political and selfish gains, may have gotten into this global pandemonium to sieve out the gold that might be imbedded in the outbreak of this disease. Nigerians are known to deal with situation of the moment and have a tendency of forgetting previous national events if introduced to new ones. As far as I’m concerned, facts and figures might be right about the swift spread of EVD but not even a blind man is ignorant of the Political devices thoroughly aimed at the masses the government is suppose to serve just to create an unsettled atmosphere perfect for them to strike their strategies.

Just recently, the tag #Bring back our girls became almost as popular as the name Jesus, but because of our lack of focus as a people and a nation, we’ve lost focal point of “that” national event and has moved forward into #Ebola, irrespective of how the story of the over 200 Chibok girls ends. Now grants and supports are being given from health organization around the world to contain this dreadful disease and the good news is Nigerian government received a large sum of the support given except that they’ve used it to build under average facilities and spread unnecessary panic.

I like the fact that everyone should wash their hands and do more healthy exercise. It’s good, I mean people should be clean but In my candid opinion, the government has found a ground to shift our focus off the Chibok girls that are somewhere within the country, hopefully, living under torment and forced doctrines of their abductors. Guess what, this Ebola is strong enough to scare the whole world but won’t stop the campaign exercise(s) of our political leaders who are almost not concerned. As a matter of fact, the number of fliers and publicity given to the masses concerning Ebola is not close to the publicity they’ve given to political aspirants for the election that is still a year away.

Secondly, the government is proposing to stop gatherings where this contagious disease can find an opportunity. Churches, schools etc are being advised to stop meeting to contain Ebola, but there is no gathering as much as the kind of crowd we have during campaigns, if the government is serious about containing this disease, the first measure is to stop campaigns that have the highest plausibility of spreading Ebola.

The government will not be moved by this observation, but as a nation, we have a choice not to move in the direction this government known for treating situations trivially and milking out all there is available to fill their pockets and gain more power. We have an option to still help the Chibok girls raise a voice of freedom and help their families smile again.

Not a sentence in this article have I mentioned that Ebola is not real and have I opposed the facts, but this disease in the hands of Nigerian government is just another opportunity to break higher political grounds and shift our attention away from the problems we were dealing with before the outbreak of EBOLA. Spread the news, make some noise about this, we refuse to be gullible again, because what will eventually happen is, this Ebola disease will be contained, maybe or maybe not, but the government won’t stop to oppress us with their selfish agendas. My advice “FOCUS” PEOPLE OF NIGERIA.

Celebrities / Davido Finally Addresses Beef With Wizkid, Says He Was Upset Abt Wizkid (video) by infoscope(m): 2:15am On Aug 06, 2014
In an exclusive interview with Sahara TV, Davido, who is currently in the US, said his recent online beef with Wizkid was because of the shade Wizkid threw regarding their concerts in the US...

"It's not beef at all..but I'm the type of person if I feel something..to me everything you do, you don't hit your brother down. This is the first time I'm saying this but the only reason I was upset was because of the NY concert. I was even going to tweet like you know 'make sure everybody turn up for my brother Wizkid's concert' and he threw a shade like that. I'm not going to take that...that's why I went and said what I said. But it's all cool, at the end of the day, we got to keep it on the music. Shout out to him. I'm still a big fan. It was never nothing but don't throw a shade at me...especially when we were on the flight earlier. By the way, check the numbers on my last concert. Let's leave it like that.." David said.

Music/Radio / Re: Sorry, Slim, But Lil Wayne Is The Greatest MC Alive by infoscope(m): 7:59pm On Jul 20, 2014
bankydd: With the release ofThe Marshall Mathers LP 2, Eminem declares himself a Rap God, featuring the King of Rap (Kendrick Lamar) on his album, and hoping to finally pass the torch ofthe rap game to a worthy predecessor. One can debate back and forth over whether Em or Jay-Z is the greatest rapper alive, but, rather than waste any time debating semantics between these two self-proclaimed "God MCs," I'm declaring the greatest MC in the history of the game to be neither Em nor Jay. History will show that the existence of a God MC is irrelevant so long as there's life on Mars.People Love the Underdog...Eminem has complicated rhymes and rhythms. There's no denying the man knows how to put together a sentenceand spit it -- if complicated equated to musicality, however, why is"Yesterday" the most covered song in pop culture and not "Crazy Train," the fast-paced and just as classic track from Ozzy Osbourne? There's nodenying Eminem is a legendary MC anda great artist, but, while he may have seemed like the innovator in real time, looking back at his archive, the majority of his work doesn't hold up. His cartoony beats, dated pop culture references (who are Moby and Carson Daly, and why is Em mad at them?) and comical lyrics mostly fall flat. Eminem's problem is he blew up too quick -- so he never really had a chanceto mature as an artist.Lil Wayne, on the other hand, came up in the shadows of Juvenile, Manny Fresh, and Baby. Whereas Em was Aftermath's LeBron James, Weezy started as Cash Money's Allen Iverson. At best, Duane Carter was a sidekick, destined to VH1 reality and dating shows. Slim Shady is Vanilla Ice with credibility and skill; he's the Yankees, and he was supposed to win. Lil Wayne is a blinged out Southern rapper like any other. There's no reason he should still be relevant, but he is. All Marshall Mathers had to do in order to stick out was show up; Weezy had to work for his -- and that's real hip-hop.Less Is More...The career-defining single for each of emcee is Eminem's "Lose Yourself," an ode to the struggle of becoming a rapper, and Lil Wayne's "Lollipop," a song about sex. Both songs are approximately five minutes long, and Em fits about 50 percent more words in his song. Weezy's lyrics are much more repetitive, so Shady is essentially working twice as hard to produce the same effect. This certainly proves Marshall is talented and hard-working. It proves he can spit complicated rhyme patterns. But is that what makes a great song? By accomplishing the same thing (a number 1 single) with half the words, Tunechi proves he has a better grasp of lyricism than the Rap God.While word count seems like a wacky way to compare two lyricists, if we're calling someone the greatest rapper alive, it's an important consideration. Lyrics are words, and, as Twitter has proven time and time again, the less words you use to express a thought, the more appealing it is. Being able to express a concise thought on a subject is the mark of a genius, and doing it melodically is a sign of a musical prodigy -- both of which describe Lil Wayne.Content Marketing...Where most people adamantly take a stance on Eminem being great while LilWayne is "garbage" lies in Shady's subject matter -- "Em raps about reallife and real problems while Wayne just talks about money, drugs, and sex." I understand what is being said, but Marshall's lyrics focus on himself while Weezy's run the gamut of subject matter, from destruction (murder) to creation (sex) to everything in between. While Shady is a master of both horrorcore and emo-rap, Tunechi not only excels at both, but can also touch on a wide variety of subjectsEminem does rap about drugs ("Drug Ballad," anyone?), guns ("Pistol Pistol"wink, and sex ("Superman"wink just like Lil Wayne, but Mr. Carter is able to touch on one universal subject that Mr. Mathers still struggles with, eveninto his 40s...How to Love. Slim is incapable of writing a love song that Justin Bieber could legitimately pull off. The sign of a truly classic song is in its ability to be covered by artists from different generations, and Lil Wayne's discography will stand the test of time longer than Eminem's because compassion is what truly lasts. Em is incapable of expressing compassion without betraying his image. Weezy can release an entire album of love songs; Shady can't.A Goon to a Goblin...Relatability is an important consideration when determining an artist's "star power," and Eminem is much more relatable than Lil Wayne on the surface. Em is an every man who everyone can relate to on some level, while Tunechi is subtitled in his interviews. Aside from having a recognizable face, Slim dresses, looks, and acts like everyone else on the streets (albeit a bit more amped up). He could be anyone's son, neighbor, father, brother, etc. If you showed up to work looking like Weezy, on the other hand, you're going to be fired, and probably arrested. Lil Wayne is a Martian, and if it weren't for music, he wouldn't fit in anywhere.Unfortunately for Em, star power doesn't equate to being the best MC, and his relatability is only skin deep. People may get angry and want to kill themselves or someone else in their head every so often, but a large portion of his portfolio is angry. Basically, Eminem is a really good battle rapper, which is one of the moreclassical styles of hip-hop. Lil Wayne, however, pushes the sonic boundaries of the game to new levels. Both"Lollipop" and "How to Love" take hip-hop to levels that Shady is incapable of pulling off. Weezy is talented in any musical genre; Marshall Mathers is not.The Real Slim Shady...Unlike the classic debate over 2Pac or Notorious B.I.G. being the greatest MC ever, both Lil Wayne and Eminem are still very much in the game and cranking out hits, with each artist sitting on discographies of over 1000 tracks. As long as Em outlives Wayne (and, unless Weezy shares genes with Keith Richards, it's a definite possibility), Shady will have the last word. He still has a chance to release aunique album that breaks his formulaic approach to music. Eminem could possibly test the boundaries of rap in an unexpected way. That day may never come, however, and until it does, Lil Wayne is the undisputed greatest living MC

Politics / Wike, Bipi Responsible For Bombing State High Court – Rivers Govt by infoscope(m): 7:10am On Jan 07, 2014
Monday’s bombing and fire incidence at two High Court Divisions in Ahoada East and Okehi in Etche Local Government Areas respectively has been blamed on suporters of the Supervising Minister of Education, Chief Nyesom Wike and member representing Ogu/Bolo state constituency in the Rivers House of Assembly, Mr Evans Bipi.

The Rivers State Government which leveled the accusation, specifically fingered the Grassroots Development Initiative (GDI), a group funded by Wike, in the bombing of the court.

The State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari, who spoke with reporters in Port Harcourt, the state capital on Monday, said: “The bombing and arson look like the handiwork of people who are close to the Supervising Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike, and the member of the House of Assembly representing Ogu/Bolo Constituency, Mr. Evans Bipi.

“Members of the GDI and the Peoples Democratic Party as it is currently constituted are those likely to be behind this sort of violence.

“You will recall that there was an explosion at the Office of the State Deputy Governor, Engineer Tele Ikuru, towards the end of the year. You know also that there was an explosion at Abonema Wharf last year”.

The commissioner also declared that her life and those of her colleagues were in danger as a result of the violence in the state and the partisan nature of the State Police Commissioner, Mr. Joseph Mbu.

Reacting, Bipi, who is the self-acclaimed speaker of the Assembly and leader of anti-Governor Chibuike Amaechi lawmakers, described the accusation leveled against him as false and explained that he was not in the state when the two incidents took place.

Speaking through his Media Assistant, Mr. Friday Itoho, Bipi expressed surprise that the bombing of a court could be linked to him.

Itoho said, “The claim that he (Bipi) is one of those responsible for the bombing of the Ahoada High Court is false. He was not in the state as at the time the two incidents happened.

“Honourable Bipi is a gentleman that will never be involved in such an act. I am surprised that somebody could accuse him of being responsible for the bombing of a High Court”.

Politics / Minimum Wage: Nasarawa NLC Embarks On Indefinite Strike by infoscope(m): 6:59am On Jan 07, 2014
The Nigeria Labour Congress in Nasarawa State on Monday embarked on an indefinite strike over the state government’s alleged failure to address the workers’ welfare.

The NLC Chairman, Mr Asoloko Maku, told newsmen on Monday in Lafia that the congress issued a 14-day ultimatum to the state government to address workers’ promotion, increment, and arrears, among others.

“We will go ahead with the strike since the government refused to implement all outstanding promotions of workers, but has approved only promotions from 2012”, he said.

On the arrears of minimum wage, Maku said the union had given the state government enough time, but had not addressed the issue.

Maku said the state government entered into an agreement with the union to pay the four-month arrears of minimum wage from November 2011.

“Having waited for the state government for so long and the expiration of the 14-day ultimatum, the union resolved to embark on an indefinite strike to press home its demand”, he said.

Maku directed all workers to remain at home while offices were locked, pending positive response from the government. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that all government Ministries and Agencies in Lafia were locked.

NAN reports that the union had on Dec. 23, issued a 14-day ultimatum to the state government to address workers’ welfare or face indefinite strike. Meanwhile, Gov. Umaru Al-Makura, has described the strike as unfortunate, saying that the action is inimical to the economic interest and development of the state. Al-Makura spoke at the inauguration of members of some boards and governing councils of tertiary institutions in Lafia.

He noted that most of the demands of the workers had been addressed with the labour leaders. On the issue of the biometric verification of workers, the governor said it was wrong for the union to oppose the exercise meant to bring sanity into the state’s civil service.

“We feel the only way we can prudently utilise the state resources is to ensure that whoever is being paid salary from the state coffers is a bonafide worker”, Al-Makura said.

He noted that the state government had demonstrated commitment to the welfare of its workforce through the implementation of the national minimum and increment of salaries across all cadres.

Al-Makura said public officers and government appointees in the state constituted less than one per cent of the state’s population and yet consumed over 95 per cent of the state resources.

According to him, this situation is unacceptable and must be reversed for the general progress of the state. He appealed to NLC to reconsider its stand, adding that “government will continue to dialogue with labour to make them see the justification for certain government actions”. (NAN)

Since yesterday banks in Imo state have not been operational. And to add salt to the injury the banks have refused to fund the ATMs.

A whole lot of us are stranded here. Some banks that still have money on their ATMs were reported to be collecting N500 each from people before using the machine.

I heard there's a war going on between the banks and the state government. Whatever the problem is, the grasses are definitely suffering it.

Education / FUTO 2nd Semester Exam To Begin On The 9th Of Dec by infoscope(m): 3:55pm On Dec 02, 2013
There was a SENATE meeting today where it was agreed that exam revision starts today 02/12/2013 while the examination proper will start on the 9/12/2013. This decision was later communicated the SUG executives.

Meanwhile while this meeting was going on ASUU FUTO had a congress meeting where they unanimously agreed never to succumb to any threat by both FG and the university administration to call of the strike or begin exams.

We finally deducted that The VC is doing everything possible to lobby lecturers to conduct exams before the end of the year.

Therefore until a compromise is reached between the university administration and ASUU FUTO, it will be unwise for any student to go back to school for any examination whatsoever as the lecturers are totally against the examination.
