I'm telling you how contented a streamer in 2024 would be with viewership numbers of a TV network show a decade ago.

I just feel like some series that were cancelled were really great series with top notch plots and storylines but they had low viewerships.

If you ask me, i think people's tastes in series and movies in this new generation are based on hypes.
They see series or movies that are being hyped and it doesn't matter whether the plot is great or not.
This is actually affecting viewerships of the actual great series or movies.

Unlike back in the days like 10 to 15 years ago where people don't follow hype.

In 2024, if the game of thrones was to be a new series, it won't get passed season 1 because of low viewerships.

Game of Thrones was a massive success from the very first season and continued to build the hype with successive seasons.
Show that have a lot of built in fans already and was top 3 most influential Fantasy books/universe.

2.3 million viewers on the first episode in first 24hrs in 2011 in the US alone is what Amazon would be praying for its shows in 2024.

Mind you this 2011 was a decade ago with fewer places to watch and fewer options and all on premium cable TV with little social media presence for film and TV discussions.

I don't know how that show does it every season, them dey always collect Emmys. I haven't watched it so I can't say much about it but the hype the show gets have pushed me a few times to want to watch it.

Some of them are shows we couldn't even complete the season 1 before we ran away, lol.
For example 'the morning show' after season 1, i didn't even bother with the season 2, i just gave up on the project.

Yet when it comes to Emmys, shows like these are always getting highest nominations and shows that we watched that blew our minds off, shows we talked about mostly on social media are no where to be found, they won't even get a single nomination.

I disagree with you on this one. Almost ALL the shows on that list I see them regularly talked about on Film Twitter or when they're airing.

The only ones on that list I might say have very very minimal and niche audience are:

Hacks (but it's very good & an Emmys magnet)
Ru Paul's Drag Race (prolly cos it's a reality show)
Feud: Capote vs Swan

Asides these ones I've mentioned the rest are well represented on social media discussions.

I've watched, 7 out of the 22 listed (32%) and I'll say the ones I watched all deserved their Emmy nominations. Also, all on that list I know about and plan on watching most.
It's a nomination for the best in their category not a popularity contest. Of course, popular shows also win Emmys too.

What shows that are really good and awards worthy do you think that was omitted on the nominations list?? I'm curious....(Remember the show must have aired between last year June and May 2024).

The movie is so straightforward. It's either you ridiculously hate it or extremely love it, no middle ground. I stand with the latter. I wasted over 2 hours on this last week, 2hrs plus i will never get back. The trailer promised me action, only for it to be like 90% unnecessary drama. Tried to be Jack Reacher so bad, and that didn't even bother me, they copied it poorly and landed an ambiguous and obnoxious ending.

Most of the praise for the movie, were for how the lead actor looked physically, than the actual storyline, and that says alot and the Bro immediately went on a photoshoot express to promote the movie.

Brah, i had a review typed up in my notes, but i just backed out from posting it, cuz if i actually did post it, the mods would have banned my handle for like 40 years 😩

But I doubt there's any other literary medium/inspiration left to adapt. We already have everything — books, games, history, mythology, folklore, culture, historical figures, true life stories, popular events and biopics.

With Hollywood being hungry for more proven content with guaranteed box office returns, book and game adaptations will get more popular. Biopics of popular celebs or figures in the past 3 decades will soon start overflowing.
