Just stumbled on this.... Reminds me why henceforth I ain't taking Variety seriously for the stupid political stunts they pulled all through the year.

The rules is just different for everyone. undecided

2nd lowest DC opening ever.
Don't forget the 2018 predecessor was also the lowest DCEU opening ever at the time.
Still, this is easily out-grossing THE MARVELS. grin grin

the TV show??

Or is it the TV series??
Yes, the TV show.

Uhm, TV series and TV shows are one and the same. Prolly a mistake.

I dunno if the show is your thing tho. I was only suggesting it if you're curious of her acting chops and her most recent work was that controversial project. And well uh, the copious nud!ty from Lily Rose Depp. You go see bress taya. 👀👀

This people na premium clowns. That's how they were making a positive spin for Mission Impossible 7 with a $300mn budget for a $570mn global gross.

Exactly the same clowns that was putting a negative spin on THE HUNGER GAMES few days ago for a $45-50mn 3-day opening weekend, for a $100mn movie.

How is this good for a $200mn film with $50mn for a 5-day OW??
Seems the rules are different for everyone. 🙃🙃

Not really.... When they meet up and saw the dragon in that ship in the Philippines, that was 1953.

The present day they are in Japan where Monarch traced them is actually 2015.

Yeah. He first auditioned for Robert Pattinson's The Batman, he lost. He auditioned for this Superman. Same result.

I reckon this will be a good motivation for an origin villain story. grin grin

Super league would even add more to the hectic fixture schedule, and this one that UEFA is even evolving next season to something close to it's format their battle against the installation of the super league will be more pronounced, They won't just sit down and watch the closest threat to their money making cow come and bulldoze them over
True, the new UCL format is more or less a Super League hybrid format but it's lacking the excess funds that the Super League promoters are promising.

And the funny thing is that it's not over, We still have some matches tomorrow and I think on Wednesday
Next year the UCL group stages would evolve to include more games, this guys would play that and still go for international breaks, UEFA and FIFA don't care as long as they keep on raking more money at the expense of this players, Human beings not machines my guy recommend
Speedy recovery to all those unfortunately injured in this short time mehn
That's why the Super League has to happen. Cos the biggest beneficiary in the current footballing setup is FIFA and UEFA. There's little to nothing for the clubs in it for Champions League participation unless maybe you win it and still it's almost meaningless in terms of financial returns for top teams from the EPL.
Na prolly cash-strapped clubs like Barca na im that thing fit mean really much to asides from the opulence for winning the premiere trophy.

I was thinking it's the sequel to Last Voyage of the Demeter, only for me to check on Google and end up disappointed.

Honestly, that movie needs a sequel. However, this looks promising. Atleast from the way I see it, they want to focus on the story/plot and less peeshun peeshun.
Lol, this is a reboot or reimagination of the 1920s NOSFERATU movie. Prolly the first Dracula adaptation.

On the story, Robert Eggers has never really been one for all out action. He's more on characters and plot. Even on The Northman, man found a way to make it even boring for most people with the unorthodox style of storytelling. And many people were expecting hardcore action like all recent Vikings adaptation. 😂😂😂

MCU might have done indelible damage to the superheroes lore with the nonestop nonsense they have been for the past 2 years.

But takes like this irks me, like let's us all pretend like "CBM" didn't hold the industry down from like 2008 to 2019 at the very least, like people were not packing cinema halls full to see these movies, like multiple CBM released didn't earn 1 bn greens or more, like "infinity war and Endgame" weren't world event on their premiere dates!. It this wasn't "Real Cinema" then what actually is??

I like Martin Scorsese but and i have tried to find a reason to defend these statements and his obsession with CBM not being "real movies" but I can't really find a tangible reason, so i think him and the industry might be jealous of the overwhelming success of the CBM in recent times.

Variety is the spice of life, and these "arsty" flicks and CBM flicks can actually exist side by side.
I want to know why someone killed native Americans in Osage county but i also want to see Batman beat the sh&t out of gotham and Arkham insane inmates too 😒
I think say na only me see this nonsense today.

The plausible explanation I'll chalk this to is plain jealousy.

That's why weirdly somehow they all flock to Chris Nolan and praise him cos he's the ONLY remaining auteur artist with similar pedigree as them that could fill up theatres just with his name alone. They also tend to forget he has CBM history too when they start their CBM bashing.

Imagine a probably once in a lifetime performance from Di Caprio and a massive project from Scorcese with over $200mn struggling to even make back it's budget at the box office.
Of course, they'll be envious and pained.

Even the said worst of the worst of CBMs in its weakest time in history still make their budgets and some more.

Bot mannn fgs 😩😩 sorry 😄.

Yup. If you follow best picture well over the last few years, the movies with the most "buzz" in a certain way, tends to be top contender and eventual winners, simply put "the most talked about" movie, in a way gets it, they interchange some times, to pander to one woke idealogy or deliver a "pity' giveaway to stem a certain crowd, hence the "CODA" and "Parasite" wins recently. So just free best picture for Barbieheimer.

As for individual awards, apart from Margot Robbie who is locked at about 70% for Best actress in my opinion, the rest are totally up for grabs. No really stand out individual performances as far as i know. I might be one of the few people on here who haven't still seen "Oppenheimer" 😩😩, due to the uncanny reason of me being out of my comfort zone for weeks now 😞, so I can't personally gauge his performance, but from hearsay, i heard he ate good, but his career trajectory has always been that of a "wildcard", a "rebel" if you will, so his performance might warrant best actor, but the Oscar board might feel he might not be the "right fit" to take that coveted crown. I know Cillian Murphy, na proper crase man, he fit no show up for the award sef fgs 😩😩. The rest awards are totally up for grabs, and so much riding on those December releases to properly have a good reading on where we at with the individual awards.
Well, I haven't seen Margot Robbie campaign for Best Actress on my feed. If she's in there, seems to me as an afterthought. As for Best Supporting Actor, most likely Ryan Gosling gets in there. He's the only BARBIE cast member I've seen consistent chatter for acting categories throughout this year.

True, Cillian Murphy na proper mad man. Peeps are already joking he might actually lose it with his nonchalant attitude towards the whole campaign process.
Dem ask Baba how e dey feel with the whole strike issue ending. Baba said "I just went home eating cheese" during the strike. 😂😂😂 He's unbothered.

I agree with you on the notion that majority of the awards is up for grabs asides Best Picture, Director, Original Song going to BARBENHEIMMER.

I've been trying to watch Oppenheimer for the past two days but I haven't been able to finish it. I've just managed to hit 1hr30mins. So far, it's been great.

Grave of the Fireflies

I thought going into this movie would be tears galore but it actually isn't, it'll leave you just feeling devastated and hopeless which is actually way worse. I had this question Setsuko asked growing in my mind constantly "Why do fireflies die so fast?", which metaphorically referred to her death at the end; She was a firefly who died early.

The story of the effects of World War 2 has been told several times but not in this way, it wasn't even from Seita but from the little girl Setsuko - my thoughts on war normally came from books about the Nigeria Biafra War like Half of a Yellow Sun and There Was a Country but this movie was just simply the most simplistic story and visually stunning tales of depression, hunger, good and evil, joy, little droplets of hope, pain, disease.

I tried to put myself in their shoes by asking myself - Would stealing be OKAY in a time of war? would I ever survive ALONE in a time of war? What if I had a child I knew could never survive? What I was doing or the industry I was working in be important in the time of war? Will my perceptions of family change? Would I rather survive the war or die in it? Would I even have the will to live if I never developed connections strong enough not to ask those questions?

Like 90% of Ghibli lovers, I'll never watch this movie ever again.
I can't rank it by the way
The most depressing war movie I've ever watched and one for all times. No live action war film even comes close. To tell you how much impactful the animation was. Had nice visuals as well.

There's another anime movie I hear is as depressing and gut-wrenching as "Grave of the Fireflies"— Barefoot Gen. I hear it might even be more depressing sef talking about the same themes of war as well as the aftermath of the Hiroshima atomic bombing.

I'm lining up that one very soon.

Watch movies like these and you'll know that most people chanting for war never really know the consequences or have experienced it first hand.

She'd still Bleep that stupid Sul'dam up. And I'm waiting.

Wheel of Time really upped their game this season and gave people what they want. The acting is way better than last season that's only Rosamund Pike that was making an effort with the rest with average fvvking performances.
Writing — much better.

I'm hoping Rings of Power can also level up like this instead of relying on crazy budget and VFX. Cos Amazon won't be so ready to splurge that stupid amount of money next time with little to no input in audience numbers. 🌚
