You don't activate 3G, you acquire it from zain office.

If you can get to either egbeda or idimu, then you can come and pick up the zain 3G sim, It will not cost you more than your transportation to the said location. ok?

@dj

I no work for zain office, someone gave me this one and that's why I can give another someone. lol

@zhill

download modified opera mini (opera multi handler) either 4.1 or 4.2, get someone to help you download 'mtn prov' file and then send the prov file to your nokia 6070 via bluetooth. the prov file appears as a configuration message on your phone and you'll be required to save it. Go to settings, connection and select the prov as your default access pnt., then activate default for all application and you can now use the operas i mentioned on your phone without issues. =next time you want to buy a phone for browsing and co, make sure it's a s60 phone, s40 phones have browsing wahala.

I see why it didn't work. when you mentioned using it with 3.12, i thought you were referring to opera mod 3.12 version. I'm sure it'll definitely work on PC cos i saw some good things about the site

@kay

If i didn't download the bolt browser, I wouldn't be asking such question, I tried it yesterday and wanted to use it for video streaming on you tube, but the brower choose to open the video with the default nokia browser. that's why i questioned

@sam

I didn't talk about the POLY as a bad institution, why i mentioned the polytechnic is simply because they do more practical than the UNI here in Nigeria (when I say that; it's from experience). If someone that has gotten technical knowledge from this forum and wants to start proving what he finds difficult to understand, then there's real issue.

@ab-dull

Even if you are going to graduate in a month time doesn't mean you know all what you profess. You still need to come and collect this sim to really understand what this arguement is about. I wouldn't say much to you cause I know that you being the same person you are wouldn't understand a thing without seeing how it works

@ski

thanks for the mail, It's what i'm posting with right now. i used it with 2 different zain sims(normal and 3G) on the same access point (WAP). The difference is very clear.

Thanks, i'll check my mail now
@abdull
If your 18th post don't interprete sense, i wonder what your first post was like. I know why this topic is very hard for you to understand, it's because you're in polytechnic and not in a university, you deal with practical all your life and a little theory is proving very difficult. I have a solution for your practical oriented mind: come at meet me at idimu, i'll give you this maga sim(3G capable) and you can do some practical on your own.
@all
The sim is only sold at zain office, that's why it's limited, not everyone own as experienced it's function therefore, not everyone can speak about it.
NB:Zain 3G network is only available in lagos, abuja and PH atm. Peace

I don't like to argue about this zain 3G issue but we need to clarify something to one another. If we remember when 4peace started the zain 3G thread, some of us(Mr. Info., myself, etc) were able to experience full celtel 3G signal and full 3G speed that's faster than normal gprs or edge download rate. After zain took over from celtel, my celtel sim that provides full 3G network coverage stopped having signals for 3G despite been used in the same location that i used to get the signal from. Until 3 days ago that i got this new 3G sim, immediately i kept the sim inside my phone 3G appeared but if i replace the sim with my former 3G sim, the packet data sign will be slashed. Taken both experiment under same conditions.
Can someone explain why is it so to me?

At last, you can give up on this your know all attitude, that's interesting. Now you'll be able to understand what i've tried to explain to you.
@drag
You don't even need to take anything to their office, if you have valid working id, i you can show that you work with a reputable organisation. They'll sell the sim to you. The person that gave me the sim bought 5 at once.
PhonesRe: Zain's Browsing- Your Experience by initialize(m): 4:38pm On Apr 02, 2009
When i said at an inclined price, i never mentioned the amount i bought it, and you shouldn't think i'll be as stupid as you to buy what is sold for 200 naira for 5k. I bought 3 of the sim and the price was not even up to 1k. Ask infobaba for more info about the 3G sim
PhonesRe: Zain's Browsing- Your Experience by initialize(m): 4:29pm On Apr 02, 2009
It's doesn't have to do with when you bought the sim, i've the same sim you talk of (it's a vmobile sim). Mine too used to show 3G signal but i never subscribe to their data package, i subscribed too nl's fbt package then and i'm sure that's why they barred my sim from receiving 3G signals. It's not all sim that has 3G capability but only data sim, internet sim or even 3G sim. I said something in my first post, If you don't believe me, you can either go thru 4peace thread or ask info for more enlightenment on this 3G arguement

I've seen most of your post and screenshot in 4peace thread. Are you trying to tell me that the 178kbps speed you attained can be gotten with a normal zain sim? Go to one of those retailers and purchase a zain sim, remove it from the pack, inspect the gold panel and compare it to the sim you were given when you purchase your modem from zain.The result will show you why some people are referred to as an "educated illiterate"

I'm sure you don't really know the major informants when this zain 3G topic actually started on nl and that's part of the reason you were able to quickly conclude that there's nothing like a zain 3G sim. Before zain came into existence, my vmobile sim usually display 3G signal and i was able to attain a very high speed when using my N73 as a modem with my sim. But when zain took over from celtel, the 3G signal stopped appearing on my then 3G sim, i tried setting my network to UMTS mode but no show. It's only edge and gprs network that my sim could recieve. But now due to purchasing this new zain sim which they sell with their 23k modem. I can experience 3G network once again on my phone. Which my former sim can't provide. You may call this new sim an internet sim but it is also a 3G sim and that's the only sim that can get you 3G signal on zain network. If you don't believe, ask info for more enlightenment.
