I’ve received several inquiries regarding the widely circulated report listing 176 estates as “fake.”
Let’s set the record straight.

From my understanding, the report may have been quoted out of context.

I’m familiar with some of the estates mentioned and even partner with a few. The truth is, these estates are not necessarily fake, but many of their developers need to comply with the Lagos State Government’s directives.

If the government had truly intended to label them as outright illegal, they wouldn’t have given a 21-day window for the developers to perfect their layout approvals. This clearly shows it’s more of a call to action than a declaration of illegitimacy.

Importantly, this move is not targeted at any individual, group, or tribe. It’s a general directive to all developers, urging them to follow proper procedures and align with state policies.

So, what’s the way forward?

All affected estate developers should immediately engage with the appropriate government agencies to regularize their estate layouts without delay.
