Jobs/VacanciesRe: All Working Class Lets Meet Here And Help Other Unemployed by Intelligentdude(m): 2:37pm On Jun 10, 2016
Hello all,I will be writing briefly on the need to be innovative in your search for a better job/offer.
We recently advertised an opening on a well known job site.Lots of CVs started coming it,what I discovered is that most of the job sites copy vacancies from their competitors(other job sites),so if a company advertises for a position, the Hr personnel will receive more than 30CVs for maybe a job with three(3)opportunity.
Food for thought:
You should be innovative while job hunting.Write down the sector you are targeting.
Get the contact address of all the companies you have written down.
Get their phone numbers if possible and of course their email addresses.
Utilize Linkedln platform, connect with those working in the company of your desire.
Then draft an appealing Sales letter(I mean cover letter and CV),stating why you should join them.
Send you application to your chosen company.
Note, you can do some research about the company, draft a two to three page document about the service(s)the company renders, how it can be improved on,what they can do to gain a larger market, what they should do to reduce overhead cost(trust me,when the CEO sees this document,an interview is on it's way).Just be innovative, they are lots of people applying, those with jobs want to change theirs, those without a job want it.
The economy situation in Nigeria now calls for more creativity, incase all you have is your certificate, you will need to sit yourself down and talk to yourself.Use this period to get relevant skills, skills that will add value to companies.Nowadays, the focus is not really on certificate but on sabificate. It is what you know(wetin you sabi).
More updates next week.
Cheers

Hello all, today I will be listing some mistakes graduates make.

1)Starting your career in a field that you don't have passion for:
The disadvantage of this is that it will become difficult to switch after years of working in that role.
Eg: You read Computer Science and have always wanted to be a Business Analyst/Quality Assurance Officer, but because of the economic situation of the Country, you apply to a customer care role and eventually get the job.You spend close to a year in that position and didn't bother updating your business analysis skill, this will surely work against you when you want to switch back to the field of your dream.
Note:The first and second job roles you start with are very important in your career growth. So be careful not to stay long in a role you don't have passion for.

2)Staying Idle at home:Most employers don't take graduates who have been idle since NYSC serious, the reason is not farfetched. If you are a motivated and energetic person, you should leave your house(maybe not daily)and go look for a way to be engaged positively.
I understand some job seekers do complain that most companies don"t accept graduate Interns, but the truth is this,it all depends on your packaging. How well you can package your cover letter(application letter)and your CV.If I want to get an interview in a company,I have it at the back of my mind that what I am writing is beyond an application letter and CV,that I am writing a sales letter selling myself to the company,so I have to emphasis my strengths and tell the company why they need me on-board.

3)Not wanting to start small: Some graduates do not want to start small, you should understand that everybody can't start with KPMG,Total,Shell and the likes. You can start from that small oil servicing company located close to your street,or that small IT company located close to you,the main thing is improving your skills and building your worth ethics.

You are free to ask your questions or drop your comments.Cheers

COMPETE OR DIE

While I was young, I wanted to live with nature
And watch how I grow from miniature
Compete or die, this is what happen to the creature
Then I knew I won't live unless I compete in the nation

I am third, you are first, so I was taught in the primary
Prizes and gifts were given to him annually
The last weep and cry from the crowd angrilly
Life is a race, so it is actually

I got third class, he got first class
So he's the best person for the task
This is what we were meant to know in the university at last
That the top eat gold and the bottom eat the grass

We are all caught up in this rat race
Life is full of competition from cradle to grave
Compete and win, let this be your aim
And you will be the world's aid

Hello Distinguished nairalanders.Sorry I left this thread since last year.I deactivated my account(if you want to know why,you can ask me privately). This is doctorken,I am really surprise that this once busy thread on nairaland is now so cold.
For a start,I will like you guys to put away the mentality that you need connections to get every job in Nigeria. Please stop saying finding a job is a job itself.Don't walk with pessimist, those who don't look at the bright side of a thing, rather surround yourself with optimist who are ever ready to continue applying to companies until they get what they desire.
There are different ways of getting a job or jobs in Nigeria.
If you are really serious in your job hunt, the first thing to do is to define your target companies/Organizations.Do you want to work in the Telecom Sector?Do you want to work in the Oil Sector?Do you want to work in Finance Sector?
Secondly, build your database.Try and get as many companies, their email addresses, phone numbers even P.O.Box(yes you read it well).
Next step is to draft an appealing Cover Letter and CV.
Note:Your Cover Letter and CV is your sales letter to the CEO or HR of the company you are applying to.You should be able to convince them and give them a reason to invite you for an interview.
Your Cover Letter and CV is you selling yourself to the company in absentia. So it is very important how you draft them.
As the HR of a Software Company,we always recruit because of loads of work, most at times when I see applications,I do wonder.
Great skills, great experiences but not packaged. So what most HR's do is to ignore such mail. The HR should be able to know if you can fit into their company when he/she glances through your CV for like 7minutes(There are lots of CVs for them to go through).
You are not meant to attach your cover letter when applying, you should attach only your CV.Your cover letter is the first thing the HR is suppose to see before downloading your CV, if you are not convincing enough, there will be no need to check your CV.
I will be doing my updates every week so stay tuned.

It is not adviceable to stay at home after service.I remember the first coy I worked with on the Island, one of the founders asked me a very important question. He asked me what I have been doing since NYSC.Most employers want to know that you are proactive.I will advice you take up a voluntary job or engage yourself in a skill acquisition program or lastly relocate to Lagos.Lots of opportunities abound in Lagos, all you need is to be properly informed.Cheers

We have an existing arrangement for those who wish to introduce, market or implement our product (Smart CBT) for schools. You are to introduce the software, handle presentation/demo and price negotiation.  We will install the software, train the staff and handle minor support issues. We will support you and take care of issues you can’t handle. For this, you earn 30% commission per sales to schools.

Smart CBT is a comprehensive Computer-Based Testing / E-exam Management software that enables educators and trainers to author, schedule, deliver, and report on quizzes, tests and exams. It is a professional computerized testing application. In short, it makes testing easier for students and administrators.  we have already deploy to 7 schools 2 of which are public schools on pilot deployment which would be expanded to cover many other schools). Our sales has mostly been through 3rd parties and we are looking for partnership with more individuals and organizations.

I received lots of CV's and I must say that the reason most qualified graduates don't get jobs is because of their not detailed CV.
Your Cover letter and CV is you selling yourself in abstentia to the company of your choice.
I am presently working as a HR/Admin in a Company that won 2016 Africa's most innovative web design and ICT training Company by African Brand Ambassador. We do recruit developers from time to time, most of the applications I see and CV's are not worth looking the second time.
Knowledge is very paramount even in the job market.

CareerRe: Achieving The Dream Career: My Story, My Lessons by Intelligentdude(m):
xfire:
Welcome to the new year 2014!

I will be sharing my experience and lessons on achieving the dream career of my choice amidst challenges. I will also share various ways you can enhance yourself and improve your skills. In the course of my write-up, I will touch on job hunting, good CV writing skills, aptitude test writing, interview skills, certifications, presentation skills, career progression, personal fulfilment and investment. I will also say a little about scholarship opportunities (both undergraduate and postgraduate) and job scams.

This is NOT a textbook theory on achieving a great career. Thus, don't expect text book approaches to career issues. The thread doesn't answer all career questions. It focuses on my peculiar experience and lessons learnt, including my modest career achievements, mistakes and obstacles. I will also refer to other people's experiences in many cases.

I'm still an ambitious young man, who is looking forward to achieving more in life and progressing my career. I am not perfect. I just wanna share this so that we can all learn. I hope my story inspires many. This is because I know that true life stories inspire far more than motivational write-ups. I am not a blogger and I am not here to promote any blog. Other people with varied experiences can also contribute.

It promises to be interesting, detailed and elaborate.

I also promise to update this thread at least once a week in 2014. I can't promise to do more for now. smiley

I wish us all a fulfilled career and personal life in 2014.
Great an inspiring
WebmastersRe: How I Made Over 3million Naira Product Sales Using Whatsapp by Intelligentdude(m): 10:09am On May 28, 2016
Fertilenigeria:
In this post, ill share with you how i made money online using whatsapp. If you check my profile, you'll discover that I do share some valuable tips here on Nairaland just to help others. Once I discover a useful idea, I simply share them to others.

Today, I want to share with you how I made sale worth 3m using whatsapp. You can use this report as a sourse of inspiration to start your own online business.

Whatsapp is a popular social messaging platform on mobile phones. Just like Facebook, the parent owner, Whatapp mobile application is very popular because virtually every smartphone user is a whatsapp user.

Apart from using whatsapp for instant messaging, I also discovered a way to make money from it. In fact, in the last 8 months, I generated over 3Million naira sales on whatsapp alone. This is not for brag but I mean it.

I used Whatsapp to increase sales as well as traffic to my website. You can also use this strategy to improve sale in any product or service .

I'm going to share with you what I did and how I did it so that you too can use the same strategy if you have a digital product for sale.

Now let's dig deep ...

Pay attention to understand how I use whatsapp to make money online.

I'm am information product marketer, selling past examination questions on mypastquestion.com. My main information products are post utme past questions, jamb past questions, WAEC past questions, jss3 past questions, scholarship past questions, job interview past questions etc.

There, I put my whatsapp number for people to start a chat with me. One they commence the chat, I automatically add them into a well labelled broadcast list. Each broadcast list contain 256 members. So you will create as many broadcast list as possible if you have large customer base.

The next thing...

After adding them to the broadcast group, I started sending them tip and reasons why they should get the past questions to prepare for their exam. I also send them excerpts from my blog tell them to read more on the blog. This strategy increased my web traffic 20%.

How I made the sales...
The constant communications with them stimulates trust and familiarity which encouraged them to trust me. With this trust, they find the need to buy the products from me.

I also created groups on whatsapp an appointed moderators to talk about my products.

I used this strategy to build up to 12k whatsapp subscribers. It was not easy to do it but it pays.

The advantages of this is that its totally free and your message delivery and open rate remains 99% unlike traditional email marketing or bulk SMS that requires money to send messages with no guarantee of high open rate.

So what causes increase in sales?
(1) Increase open rate
(2) Trust as a result of familiarity
(3) High frequency in communication because its easy to use and its free.

Take Action:
So what are you waiting for? Stop waiting for job, start an online business today and you'll be smiling to your bank every month. I'm am conducting a free internet business training. Its 100% free and you can click the link on my signature to subscribe.

Note: Internet business is not a get-rich-quick venture. so you'll have to work hard to make it. Its the money way!

If you have questions, let's hear from you on thread...
