Career › Re: Is There Any Hope For Microbiologist In Nigeria by Intelligentdude(m): 7:32am On Jul 04, 2016*. Modified: 7:41am On Jul 05, 2016 |
Goodmorning, the emphasis should not be on the course you studied, rather it should be on your person. What skill have you acquired? Have you done any professional training before? Do you belong to any professional body?(as it relates to your field). How often do you attend seminars in your field of study? Attending Seminars, joining professional bodies etc will help you meet experienced Microbiologist who can coach and counsel you on the current trend in Microbiology field.
So take a self assessment now dear.Cheers |

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Pls Can Some One Help Me With A Sample Of A Recent Standard CV. by Intelligentdude(m): 8:40am On Jul 03, 2016 |
chikid: I have been sending my soft copy CV in the internet for some time now but i have not gotten any invitation. i don't know whether the format of my CV is not good or there is some other things am doing wrong. Pls can some one here help me with a sample of a recent standard CV. my email address is alicechinwe4real@gmail.com. Thanks. The reason most job applicants who apply via different job sites don't get called for interviews is not far fetched. It is as a result of several applications the HR of 'the recruiting company' recieves(Personal experience). Truth is sorting out all the applications from job seekers is a herculean task,so the HR personnel tend to focus more on the first batch of applicants. How you draft your cover letter and cv matters a lot. Your cover letter should be the first thing the HR sees when he/she opens his/her email. The mistake most job seekers do is that they attach their cover letter and their CV,unless otherwise stated, you are suppose to copy and paste your cover letter on the body of your email (It is your sales letter to the HR/CEO,you selling yourself to him/her). To know more, check my posts: @Intelligentdude Cheers. |

missKiffy: A lot of people hates marketing jobs, including me Lol,do you know that we all do marketing one way or another without really knowing?. You go for an interview, your mission is to convince them enough so that you will be hired, then you start marketing yourself to them(telling them the reasons why they should hire you,how you can boost their company's efficiency etc). Please don't think marketing is what our banks are doing via their Marketers, nope that is Markslaving. Marketing is a life profession dear.Cheers |

Nnaeb: Sell what you love
Make sure you love what you are getting on board to sell. If you take up a marketing job just to keep busy while looking for a better job, u will end up wasting your time. Passion is a key word in marketing and you can’t have passion for what you don’t love. Personally, I don’t love insurance, so I will have a difficult time selling it. But some dudes are also making it big time in insurance because they love it and it is paying off. There are so many products and services to be sold. Look for the one you love and give it your best shot.
Product knowledge
A broad knowledge of your product is vital to effective selling. Research about the product, find out the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) concerning your product. This will help you master the product at your fingertips. Also, take it a step further by carrying out a research on competing products and services. You must know the advantage they have over yours and the advantage your product has over theirs. That way when you meet with a prospective client, you put your best foot forward by emphasizing on your advantage (USP).
Define your market
Nigeria is the largest market in Africa and one of the largest in the world. However, it is not everything that will sell in Nigeria. Before you get on board to sell any product, do a personal study of the market and figure out if there is a need for it. Define the market segment and also see how readily available the market is. Is it a product for the Elite class, or low income persons, men or women, kids, youths or adults? Define your market. That something is selling in Lagos does not mean it will sell in Enugu.
Draw up a list of prospective buyers
Marketing is a field job, yes I concur. But don’t be in a hurry to hit the field without a clear direction and plan. Stay at home or in the office and draw up a list of your prospective buyers. The prospects on the list should be up to 100 at least. Also, include at five high profile prospective clients. Those ones that will give you a major breakthrough if you succeed in selling to one of them. Source for the contacts and phone numbers of the prospects either through google map, v connect, their website or ask for it.
Develop a sales script
Develop a powerful sales script that will guide your discussion with a prospect. The sales script must cover greeting, personal introduction, product introduction, request for a meeting, and some other things. Some sales consultants can help you develop one if you can’t do it yourself. But it is something you can do.
Call and arrange a meeting
I have said before that marketing is not all about getting yourself engrossed in activity and dissipating energy. That is why some persons complain about the stress. It’s funny how people just dress up from their homes and start wondering the streets of Lagos aimlessly in the name of marketing. That is not professional. Sit down and call ten prospects in a day to arrange for a meeting. Out of the ten, three persons will grant you an appointment. That way, you can plan your movement and schedules effectively. This will help you conserve energy and cut down on aimless transportation cost.
Let’s stop here at the moment. I will complete this article tomorrow. Let me not bore you with long stories cos I really want us to understand everything.
Have a great day
http://jobtrends.com.ng/revealed-10-secrets-of-effective-selling/ This is great@Op.Very educative. Truth is the best sellers ain't usually people with great content but rather people with great marketing strategies/skill. |

Yemmy94: Hi nairaland I want to ask dis question What job can someone apply for with degree in communication and information science…I need ur help Applying for a job bro in this present Nigeria has to do more with the skill you possess(especially when your course is not a professional course). My questions for you is thus: What skill do you possess? Have you done any professional training? If yes, what is the training? What area will you want to build your career? Your answers to this questions will give me an Idea on how to answer your question. Back to the question,a graduate of Communication and Information Science can work as a Digital Marketer,Data Journalist etc. (If I were you,I will undergo a Digital Marketing training which might last for two weeks, you will be amazed at the enormous opportunities you will have as a skilled Digital Marketing Manager).Cheers. |

Note:I will advise you send your CV both in PDF and MS Word version. Some HR prefer CVs in PDF format why some prefer CVs in Ms Word format. For Sesewa, hope you know how they operate? You will be interviewed by two young guys.Just normal questions,do not be timid, the guys are very young.Just know what you want, they recruit for Companies mostly on the Island and the salary is usually 25-40k but note, you cant collect all your salary.A certain percentage will be deducted from your monthly salary to be saved for you,but the money will be paid to you after you successfully complete your internship.10% will be taken from your first salary though and will be remitted to their account.Cheers CashNaira96: Hello bro, read somewhere that you went for sesewa interview, please how was it like, what kind of questions were you asked? i have an interview for tomorrow with them. |

Daspecialone: I am a fresh graduate of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering with strong ICT skills, please I need a job please help
I have HND (UPPER CREDIT) Helo,Goodmorning. I will advice you to pen down names of Telecom Companies in Lagos(Nigeria). You have Cobranet,VPS Technologies,Izeti etc.Google about them,go to the website, look for their career page,if you can't find any career page, look for any contact email on their site. Then send your application to them.Make sure your Cover Letter is drafted in such a way that the company will want you to work with them.Ensure your CV is well structured and written. When sending online application, do not attach your cover letter, copy and paste your cover letter on the body of your email. It should be the first thing the HR sees when he/she opens your mail. Trust me, when my Coy is recruiting, I do recieve lots of applications, and I might not have the time to go through all of them, what I do is to focus on the Cover Letter more in order to invite the applicants. When sending your CV,I will advice that you send it in both PDF and MSWord format. So get to work, write down all the names of Telecom/IT companies, prepare yourself and pay them a visit nextweek with your Application and CV. |
