If the money is from required deposits from banks to help “mop up excess liquidity”, then inflation will not occur as “excess liquidity” wasn’t the main driver of inflation to begin with but the fall in the value of the Naira.

If the money is newly created funds by the CBN, then it is inflationary. If the money is from increased taxation or bond purchases by investors, it is not inflationary.

Why the Naira collapsed and will continue to collapse is because Nigeria fails to properly manage its economy. Obasanjo set up an excess crude account. If the excess crude account did not get depleted by the Goodluck Jonathan administration, the naira would not have collapsed.

Buhari came in and needed to reduce costs either by firing workers and closing down MDA’s or restructuring the country entirely combining states to reduce the number of political officers. Buhari chose to maintain the country as he met it, so he did not reverse the Huge expense costs created by Jonathan but went borrowing, hoping that oil prices will rise to Jonathan’s era levels. This did not happen.

Emilokan without any understanding of the situation made horrible choices at the start of his administration.

Luckily, Dangote’s refinery has come on stream. This refinery can stabilize the naira for a few years. The government needs to enact policies to support the Naira’s growth.

The inflation rate in America is about 2 percent and the fed funds target rate is about 5 percent. The rate of inflation is less than the interest rate.

Nigeria’s situation is opposite. Our official inflation rate is about 33 percent and our CBN interest rate is about 27 percent.

Why does any of this matter? Governments commonly raise money through taxation or sales of debt.

Investors across the world look for bargains and chose to buy debt from countries that have stable currencies with moderate interests rates against inflation rates or countries with unstable currencies with high interest rates. High interest rates attract foreign capital and increases the demand for local currencies. The Naira should benefit from this policy. If the Naira strengthens, the inflation rate will reduce.

Do you want the government to raise taxes?
Do you want the CBN to print money and give to the ministry of finance(ways and means)?
Or do you want investors to fund the budget while the government repairs its finances? These are the options I believe are available.

Economics is constantly changing. Oyibo invent and apply new principles, write textbooks about them and a typical African reads, digests and try to mimic such in a chaotic environment. How does increase in interest rate fix stagflation? None of the developed nations they try to copy has interest rate above 5%.
