Even if Gov. Adeleke is the smartest man alive, he is marketing himself as a goofball. Okpebholo of Edo increased the monthly subvention of AAU, Ekpoma (Edo State owned university) from 40m to 500m monthly, reinstated ALL the lecturers that were wrongly dismissed by the immediate past administration and removed the special intervention team that was messing up the school, thereby giving the school management autonomy to run their system without undue political interference.

The outcome? In less than 2 years, ALL the departments that were battling accreditation have been accredited. College of Medicine graduates were inducted for the first time in 10 years. Nursing department is admitting students this year (after 4 years of no admission due to accreditation issues) plus lot of infrastructural work going on within the campus premises…. And, nothing like industrial actions by the lecturers/professors anymore

He also increased the subvention of Edo University, Iyanmho (the 2nd state university) subvention from 20m monthly to 250m naira monthly.

And yes, the salary of a lecturer in Edo State Owned University under Okpebholo’s jurisdiction is about 50% higher than that of his counterpart lecturers in federal universities

This is not including the newly introduced bursary for Edo State University Students o… first ever bursary for Edo students since the creation of the state.

If anything, the Professors, if given the opportunity will do everything to ensure an Okpebholo’s electoral victory because of his goodwill towards them and the educational sector in the state
