but my brother who is suffering it today? No matter how you and i are affected by insurgency activities today, our people living in the north east are suffering it the most.So if my people living in the east fails to coperate now believe you me they will suffer it the most when all is set and done. Our elders says and i quote"the danger of creating a monster is that one day it will turn against it's master"
You're right.
That's exactly what I was saying in my submission.
They need to get cut the support and sympathy given to ESN to shut them down.

Even if there's a provision in the Constitution, Nigeria is a sovereign state.
The UN cannot command Nigeria, they can only sanction.
Look at the Israel and Palestine conflict, what has the UN done to Israel except endless condemnations?

UK grant on IPOB is seriously tormenting these people. Just wait your days are numbered.
Thanks to the living God that the crop of politicians we now have in UK is different with those that aligned with Nigeria in Biafran war.

I regard those writing off Nnamdi Kanu as simply m.orons. Like seriously? You don't ask yourself why UK have housed this guy for long?
Why he goes to US freely? Why he goes Israel freely? How he established his radio?

Guy jokes apart, very soon, the northern terrorists will be considering joining Chad in forming their own country.
The only people that I pity are northern Christians. But they themselves are not behaving well.
Come on! There's nothing to wonder.

At the time the govt. had no experience with insurgency. If you think the same mistake with boko haram is about to repeat itself, you are wrong.

Quit giving these people false hope else you’ll lead many to their death. They rounded young men at Ohaji & Omuta in Imo yesterday. When they get back months from now, please speak with them about their experience.
You probably misunderstood my submission.
I'm not encouraging anyone.
I agreed that the only way to stop the nascent chaos is general condemnation from the people in the region like the op stated, however, that it's not that simple given the support and sympathy the ESN enjoys form the citizens.
I went on to compare it with how Boko Haram was birthed.

But it's not that easy...Some of the citizens are ESN sympathizers.
Same way Boko Haram got sympathy from people in the region, built their bases, got strong and turned against the people.
With all their cooperation with the task force, Boko Haram looks here-to-stay.

Why haven't he spoken out against the marginalization of the Igbos in terms of infrastructure, government jobs and appointments? Why is he or any Yoruba for that matter concerned with people they hate?

If any Yoruba man supports you as an igbo man in anything you do, just know that you are on the path of destruction.

The mistake we Igbos are making is we are assuming those attacking security formation in the east are ESN or IPOB but that might be a lie ...

This destruction of police station might be Jihadist at workoooo....These is how Jihadist operate when they arrive a place , they first attack police formations till the police lose moral then they start attacking the populace ...
grin I'm glad you know these attacks are condemnable.
Now to your subtle denial that it's not perpetrated by ESN/IPOB and your suggestion that it's carried out by Jihadists.
You might be right about other groups being involved but severing ESN from attacks stinks prejudice to say the least.
These guys have came out to claim some of these attacks. Some of them have been arrested, paraded and filmed by the police claiming some of the attacks.

There's this popular saying that: if you want to believe a story, you quickly become blind of all the arguments against it and suddenly see all the arguments for it.

To be honest ,I have never seen nairaland come this alive with intelligent conversation in many years.but here is my observation after checking idris derby's credential.

1. He is not a coward who is afraid of war.he has has always been a warrior from his youthful days and as they say old soldier never die, once a soldier always a soldier.so come what may ,the battle ground will always call him because that was where he grew up. It is like someone over 60 still going to a club for him.

2.he is a great leader who leads by example. The man is a legend. Check out all great historical leaders they still went to war after becoming emperor or king.

3. He was not afraid of dying.like how people say in nairaland "one thing must kill a man". I am sure that is his response to his advisers when they beg him not to go to war.

I will honour him for his bravery, love for his country and for knowing what he was actually doing(a qualities Nigeriahas not seen from any of our leaders in donkey years).

Although he got greedy and refused to leave power.

RIP to him and my condolence to his wife
Little bravery and more carelessness.
He should know better what is at stake.
If not for the loyalty the army has for him; making his son a replacement, the country will be in chaos as we speak.

Actually he wasn't at the forefront when he got killed, after the announcement of his victory of his 6th term, they wanted him to celebrate at the capital, but he decided to go and celebrate with his soldiers keeping the rebels away.... Unfortunately the military base got attacked and he was caught in the war with his soldiers.. and they gave a good fight

.
It still point to the fact that he died due to his recklessness.
No doubt, it is commendable showing physical support and solidarity with his troops. However, he did it frequently and recklessly.

UCL doesn't "pick" d top four "shunning the rest". The top four EMERGE from a rigorous and painstaking process& competition that included several teams drawn from several leagues, countries, strengths& backgrounds. That is inclusivity. That's different from this:

"For me, this Super league saying we know the Champions already (from data;consistency) so we're giving 5 slots to potential champions to play in the ESL."
grin We are saying the same thing mate.
In my submission, I admitted the ESL model is not fair whilst proving that the UCL uses similar model too.
Putting your correction into account, I say again;
The UCL picks the top teams(The ESL subscribers almost always) that emerged from the rigorous and painstaking process to play the UCL.

because UEFA is more about inclusivity than exclusitivity
Well said.
However, relativity is the case here.
Even the national leagues, there's relegation...some teams have never qualified to play the EPL.
Then the UCL picks the top fours shunning the rest to show IT'S THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE.
For me, this Super league saying we know the Champions already (from data;consistency) so we're giving 5 slots to potential champions to play in the ESL.

Rich4god:
In my own understanding. I think uefa is fighting to protect the interests of the smaller clubs. Now imagine if the super leagues succeed, people won't have any interest watching other competition. This in turn will deny smaller clubs the opportunity to generate revenue, there by gradually killing them. Because they won't have the finance to buy good players, leaving them with just low and average players. Whilst on the other hand, the founding clubs of the super League will generate much revenue, giving them the finance to buy quality players. Now at the long, European football will now be just for the super league teams as no one will be watching other competition.

Just take for instance. Compare the number of people that watch Europa League to the number that watch champions league. And since champions league is open for all through qualifying, smaller teams that enter the group stage are giving huge amount of money. These are the funds that makes the smaller teams to stay afloat.

How many times have any of you guys watched the Belgian, Russian, Ukrainian, Austrian domestic league. Clubs from these countries don't generate much from fans outside their country. It's when they qualify for champions league that's when they have the opportunity of been in the light of fans world wide.

If the super League succeed in out rating champions league, smaller teams will suffer and at the long run, football will just be for the big clubs only.

Just my own opinion.
UEFA is just playing politics. They're not protecting the interest of anyone but themselves.
The UCL used to be the apex league hitherto.
Premium football heavily dominated by the breakaway big clubs.
The current 12 super league subscribers almost always earn a spot in the UCL season-in-season-out.
So what's the fuss?
With your submission, I can say, even the UCL is not fair to the small clubs. If we want to be fair there won't be anything called The Champions league at all.
The restructured UCL model to be effective in 2024 is unfair to the small teams deliberately tweaked in favor of the big teams and UEFA to generate more revenue.
The Super league has 5 open tickets to be contested by small teams.
PS: I'll love the super league to open all the tickets for all teams. However, I believe the permanent membership is a way of selling the league to the big clubs.
The rules might change perhaps in the future.
