Hamzat was supposed to be Governor after Ambode- given he was re-elected. I believe the calculations after the abrupt end of Ambode government impacted his turn. It probably would have turned religious or at least get politicised religiously. Considering Ambode was the first Christian governor since 1999.
Getting his government truncated like that and bringing Hamzat- a Muslim would have triggered some religious sentiments and backlash.
Hamzat will be governor after Sanwo-Olu most likely.
