I wanted to stomp in here saying Yes! Include all your experience(s) in your CV, but even though I'm still relatively all in for including all your experiences, I think what's particularly important is the sector or industry you're working in.

I'll give a personal example.

I graduated from the University in 2013. Prior to this I'd been working in a media firm as far back as 2004. I was working from 2004-2012 majorly in different roles that bordered on creative design (motion graphics design, graphics design, video editing, script writing and concept development)

Now even though I read microbiology in school, I realized I had more flair for the creative arts than for sciences. It just makes sense that if I'm applying for, let's say, a graphics designer role; I include all my experience (pre-graduation) because if my CV only had experiences from after my graduation, It would:

1) Limit my perceived relevance in the industry I'm applying for

2)It would not shed tangible light on my experience - linked ability in graphics designing

3)It would keep me from applying for jobs that attach the minimum level of experience that I have, even though I'm very skilled in the field.


So in essence , it's all about the industry or sector you're applying for.

Furthermore, as someone said... Only add the job experiences that matter to the role. When I was serving I worked as a teacher. For someone like me, putting this experience in my CV is totally irrelevant so I avoided it.

If you're designing the cover (front and back) of a brochure /magazine /manual in photoshop, do you design the front and back individually on two different unique canvas/tabs or you make one canvas size large enough so you can divide "single image cover" into front and back. I don't know if I've expressed myself well enough but I can send a screen shot if you need me to.

I sent my CV, cover letter and a link to my graphics design portfolio since the first time this job opening was posted here on the 19th of last month. However, I was not contacted. Would you advice I send them again or probably I wasn't contacted because however "unlikely" my qualifications did not measure up?

I think it wouldn't be a bad idea if you can post screen shots of the UI too. The reason is that my sister recently bought a Bryte one tablet that claimed to come with Android 4.4 kitkat.... When I took it from her and opened it... It was all Jelly bean UI... There was nothing about the UI that was Kitkat.

Don't take this the wrong way...But I don't think you've searched seriously enough, reason is...Just a simple "Optical flares download" in YouTube would give you sooooo many download sites to choose from. The same goes with video transitions for Aftereffects.


If you still don't see any link on YouTube, you can send me a mail. I have optical flares and a number of video transitions...However I don't know if they won't be too large to send by mail.

However, before you even seek out a video editing tutor, I strongly suggest that you be your own tutor and start with the basics...and how will you do this - Go to YouTube and have your fill of over 10,000 available free video editing tutorials.

Trust me... If you truly have the knack and creative flair for video editing....These videos will take you from a novice to a pro-level video editor, you won't even need a tutor anymore. You don't have to watch or stream them online, you can download them to watch later on at your convenience.

Ofcourse you need to have an editing spec- laptop/computer with the following softwares installed

-Premiere Pro
- Aftereffects
-Photoshop/Illustrator (optional)

I really don't understand why guys still date university girls or girls in any higher instituition- Most of them are looking for fun and have piles and piles of guys they are sucking (both metaphorically and literally) from. This is very nice...For one thing, A Graphics Designer CV shouldn't be as bland as all the other "regular cvs" out there. A graphics designer's cv should have some touch of creativity and yours rightly so, has such creativity. My CV is relatively similar to yours- I'm a creative designer too, So I hope you'll take these few suggestions in good faith.

- I think you should change the creative icons on your CV to the coloured versions...You know, to the way they are seen online (The yellow and black color theme for the Ai, the Light and dark blue colour theme for photoshop etc). It will make them pop out more, especially if you're going to be sending it online.

- I also think you should not just stop at putting the icons alone but also writing the full names in words e.g Ai-(Adobe Illustrator,) Ps-( Photoshop). The reason I think it's better this way is because if you're sending your CV to any company, their HR manager may likely be the first person to go through it, now how many HR managers know what Ai, Ps, JM stand for- Even if they do, I feel it's better to "play" safe and just write the full meanings. Don't you think so?
