I completely agree with you oh my sister. Imagine all of this shut down happening around the country, what happens if the hospital can't get fuel to power their generators? Schedule CS will be cancelled parents with babies in NICU will be praying for miracles. God help us all. I replied your mail to me but it seems something is wrong with your box it keeps bouncing back. Kindly confirm receipt of my reply.

Nogen:
Akindolz, congratulations dear. Make I do pack my load dey come over before they will change their system. By the way, do they realise how much we put into their system? If our system is so good , personally I won't be coming over. I never liked the UK, most of my Vacations are done in the US.

Secondly, my hospital here had mentioned to me very early in my pregnancy that I should keep down a minimum of 3 million naira for delivery in case of NICU. NICU that hardly saves babies born unless they are in their 7th month. Please! 3 million naira is 15,000 dollars at least. For me, its all about the medicals first before the pali thingy.

They should just bear with us. It's not easy for us too.

@nogen so you would advice me to go to El paso. Am considering Houston cause I have family there and can stay with them for the first 2 months before I move to an apartment just to reduce cost. Pls advice me and let me know what the reasons are I will PM you.

Nogen:
Lol. I see am. Make she carry her load dey go El paso. The truth is that some of the popular hospitals we rush to in Houston are not level 3 and the doctors may not have the patience and time she desires. She's a higher order risk mum. She will need that special care and management.

@dittobaby no be lie oh. I keep reading @Tvegas post and wondering you sure say na man or maybe no be Naija man. Most African men are not wired to pay attention to those things. Indeed I hail you @Tevegas.

dittobaby:
Tvegas, Tvegas. I envy your wife o. You did all the birthing logistics and you've participated and still participating actively on this thread, You've been a very good consultant to many mums here giving advice on almost any topic. Now from this post you have really impressed me cas it's obvious you are helping your wife with nursing the baby. You even know the names of different baby foods, Avent sterilizer, baby liquid soap, etc. Na wa o!

My husby doesn't know jack about anything baby except of course on how to make them. He was always precise on my ovulation date as if he receives inspiration. This American project is entirely mine and all he's doing is coming to join us towards our departure to bring 'his' baby back to Nija. Well, I still love him to death. He is actually good in so many other things. Kudus to you anyway, I'm not just used to a man being so motherly. Or are you transgender? wink grin

@Newmum 15, I think you should try using shipping or cargo companies. There alot of them now who ship things to Nigeria and If you intend to ship it before you get back mayb you can opt for sea freight it's cheaper but will take a longer time. But by the time your baby is here and you are back in Naija your crib should have arrived and been safely delivered to your house stress free.
Newmum15:
oh?Thanks a lot.Was hoping to buy baby crib and other stuff.Guess I'd have to find another way.

Happy Sunday Everyone,
Thanks to @nogen @nefertitiram and @customised87 for your response to my questions you were all soooo helpful.

Like you mentioned I will take my time to figure out what state I would like to have my baby in then proceed to Hospital and Dr search in due time.

Am also thinking I don't want to go through the process of renewing my visa since it won't expire till Feb 2016. I would just send them an email. I even remember that the guy that interviewed us told us if and when we decided to use it for child birth we should contact the embassy.
@ekpotek it seems your wife and I are late 2015 or early 2016 mama's to be by God's grace. Am glad to see am not the only one planning early and you seem to have chosen states that have very affordable birthing packages.

As for those small minded people who think that CS is for Lazy women while VD is for strong women the answer to them is ignorance or lack of fear of a higher power. I wonder what such people's views are on issues like IVF or Surrogates. Technology and medical science has gone way beyond what people will think, what more important is saving lives anyway possible.

Congrats to the new Mama's in the house thank God for safe delivery. Have been dolling this thread for over 2 years and TTC God has finally smiled on me and I got my BFP this week. Please I have a few questions
1. Am about 4 weeks gone is it too early to start talking to a hospital/Dr in the US?
2. Is it too early to send the embassy a change of intent mail? My husband and I got our visa in 2014 and went on vacation with it in May last year.
3. With the way things are now my EDD is early Jan 2016 and my visa expires in early Feb would this be an issue at POS?
4. Does anyone have experience with having to extend their visa while in the US due to late arrival of baby and other reasons?
Please house an counting on you for response so I can start discussing my options with hubby. He doesn't like complications and if the Visa thing will bring complications he would rather I don't go and get banned for over staying.
