The Tribune is full of ignorant writers.[b] Who voted, elected, appoint or made Awo Yoruba leader?

The ashes part clearly highlights the writers cluelessness and warped interpretation of current events and history.

The fact remains that Tinubu was given one single state and in less than 4 years, he not only he turned it into 6 states, he took all nearly all the legislative seats in the SW.

By acclamation Obafemi Awolowo was selected to preside over their deliberation. The question of the Leader of the Yoruba immediately came up which Awolowo ruled out of order but members persisted., many of these were his[b] former political adversaries in the National Council of Nigerian Citiizens [/b][the NCNC] and the Nigerian National Democratic Party [the NNDP]. A motion was moved, seconded by cheering acclamation and[b] Obafemi Oyeniyi Awolowo was unanimously elected the Leader of the Yoruba.[/b] Whatever moral imprimatur and authority deriving from this title, no one, least of all Awolowo himself, was ever under any illusion that this position can be sustained once partisan politics is resumed under any guise. THREE days to the deadline given by the Ogun State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to Governor Ibikunle Amosun to take a definite position on the implementation of the N18,000 minimum wage, the governor has defied the workers.

Rather than meet them on how the wage will be paid, Amosun is set to sack about 2,000 of them.

Last week, the NLC Chairman, Comrade Akeem Ambali, told reporters in Abeokuta, the state capital, that labour leaders agreed on the ultimatum to drive home their demand for the commencement of the minimum wage.

But, at the weekend, it was learnt that Amosun directed that workers, totalling 1,994, recruited by the last administration in the Gateway State, be disengaged from the state’s public service.

The directive states, however, that those disengaged could re-apply to be interviewed afresh for employment into the public service.



In a swift reaction to this development, the immediate past Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr Sina Kawonise, said the disengagement of the workers was in line with Amosun’s determination to reverse key decisions and actions of the Otunba Gbenga Daniel-led administration without any rational basis.

He explained that those that were employed in the last six months of the last administration were recruited through the due process to replace existing vacancies in the state’s public service.

He said: “1,540 either resigned or retired from the state’s public service to meet the Dec 31, 2010 deadline for the cross-over to the new Pension Scheme. While those that retired and resigned their appointments saved the government N100 million on the monthly wage bill, all the new recruitments added an additional N80 million to the wage bill. This, therefore, means that a net of N20 million monthly remains as saving to the Government of Ogun State.

“Governor Amosun gave the directive to pave the way for the employment of his supporters in the ACN (Action Congress of Nigeria ) and his former party, the ANPP (All Nigeria Peoples Party), who he had promised to employ in the state’s public service within his first 100 days in office. But it must be stated once again that those recruited by the last administration are bonafide indigenes of Ogun State who went through the due process and whose appointments were not based on political or party affiliation”.

Before Fashola, Lagos state was crime ridden, but with good leadership, strong will and determination, sense of care and justice, the state government, the local security forces put in place several security measures from policies to Provision Of Security Equipment, to setting up  security trust fund which eventually provided 2 crime fighting helicopters, weapons, armored trucks and altimately producing the best and the most advanced police command in Nigeria and Lagosians are reaping the benefits of their proactive and visionary security policies.

On the other hand, the folks in Abuja starting from GEJ aka the Commander of the Armed Forces. to his Nationa security adviser, the ID and his commanders are al clueless, they are incompetent, they are visionless and they lack the will and fighting spirit to protect you and yours. IGs after IGs, presidents after presidents, heads of state after heads, there is still no stated security policies, no strategy, no leadership, it's still the same silly tal ans assault on our Collective Intelligence.

The 2 levels of leadership in Lagos and Abuja as stated above clearly dipicts the flaws associated with your illinformed and misguided assertions.

Regardless of what you and I do collectively, we can not get any result or meaningful changes if the folks charged to protect us are all incompetent, they lack ideas, they lack the will and credibility to effect any security changes and just like their many preoccupations, stealing and looting is all they care about as displayed buy Tafa Balogun and the same crooked Ehindero in the article.


The folks in Lagos showed great courage and leadership to ptotect the people of Lagos while the folks in Abuja lack that spirit and will and till they develope that will and spirit to fight on our behalf, we are not going anywhere regardless of your yelling and screaming.

You are free to walk the horse to the river, but forcing the horse to drink is a whole different ball game.
