There is nothing like pension again after you have open your pension account with pension administrators, your contribution and employer's will start immediately with your first salary and stop with your last salary. Government don't hold your pension again
Pension still exist. It is now called contributory pension. The military, DSS don't even contribute pension like other sister agencies. When someone becomes pensionable, it means he has to meet up to the condition to be able to access his pension funds. Gratuity also exist and you need minimum number of years to access that. This is a topic for another time

Well said brother. May I ask, since one cannot present a certificate obtained before the job for conversion/ upgrading, what then is the fate of the candidate that joined the Service with a lower qualification like SSCE or ND but about graduating either Masters or PhD? When he finish, can he present that result for consideration since his case is not captured in the clause?
it is also not impossible for this to happen. It has happened before years ago.

I just want to drop my own advice for y'all that are officers now who are already feeling bad cause you applied with a lower degree instead of your Bsc/HND.

Your rank shouldn't be the benchmark of your success. Some of you will have the opportunity to convert, some won't. Regardless, what matters is that you're able to attend to your responsibilities (family n all) and other things.

The moment you get into service, I'd advice you have a side hustle you do. Use your salary to invest in different opportunities outside service. Don't spend money anyhow (because that's what most newly recruited officers do). Being an Immigration assistant doesn't mean you won't be successful in life.

I know junior officers in the Police and Army who are comfortable with their lives than some senior Officers. So y'all should keep calm and enjoy this paramilitary job.
Even without engaging in corrupt practices. Saving your salary will give you the needed capital for a side hustle.

you can only present your certificate before the Upgrading/ Conversion committee with a valid permission to study. The permission to study can only be obtained after writing the confirmation Examination within 2years

General duty are those on field work right? How would their profession carried out when they work out of office? Do you mean to say support staff? Cos they work from office and that's where their duties are.
General duty: can be posted anywhere within the service. Office or field work.

Newly recruited getting pissed off because they did not present their highest degree during the recruitment process is not getting the right picture

1) There is a slim chance of being recruited with your First degree than other lower qualifications. Your certificate is as good as what you use it for. A first degree holder without a job is not better than an employed SSCE holder.

2) The under- employment clause on your appointment letter is clear. You cannot present a certificate you obtained before the job for upgrading. This cannot be fair to those that decided to apply with their first degre certificate and did not get the job because of stiff competition

3) The paramilitary service is even lenient. In the military, you have to wait till there is a general recruitment to even present yourself for Conversion to the officer's cadre.

4) Bad blood, feeling bad is a very bad sign that you have chosen the wrong career path. People that have never worked for the government can succeed more. Nobody is enslaving you. Just make your choice and decisions

Thanks for your analysis bro, please can you shed more lights to those with professional qualifications like Doctors, Engineers, masters, lawyers and accountants. Would the qualification give them a step ahead or what are the benefits of presenting a professional qualifications. I'm aware that through the camp process everyone would be placed on one star.
In the scheme of service for civil servants, entry level for ANAN and ICAN are level 9 and 10 respectively and a doctor is placed on level 10.
Does this happens in paramilitary or everyone is placed on one star at entry level?
Thanks
It is impossible to recruit a medical doctor as ASI II. The other professionals if recruited as 1 star automatically becomes General duty and the Board see them in the light of their first degree only. Nigeria Correctional Service recruited professionals on different grade level but not NIS

Kindly ask about "the day you assume duty" clause in the APL.
Also kindly help to ask what's the next thing to do, induction or training and when please.
Don't over stress yourself with that clause. It is customary

To those expecting this job, may your Paramilitary Life begin this month with your APL in your right hand. And may you wear your befitting rank this year...

To the *Supols* (Superior Officers), there is this natural pride that comes with wearing shining star(s).

Star will try raise your shoulder up, it will try separate you from your childhood friends and acquaintances in other Cadre, and so many other acts you never envisaged. Most times, It's not your making, that's the structure of the Job.

Please you will have to humble yourself, it will make you earn respect of old staff and new intakes like yourself both of whom, by the virtue of your rank automatically become your surbodinates. That's the standard, no age in Khakki Job, na wetin dey your shoulder!!!

But you ll have to always call yourself back should your shoulder wants to push you. Remember, many in other Ranks have the same Certificates that gave you star. Theirs couldn't give them star, it's their choice though. But be humble, give respect, sometimes bend rules and you ll see yourself delivering your given tasks effortlessly.

To other ranks, it is expected of you to give respect to your Senior at all times not minding whether he is far younger than you are and you are to obey LAWFUL ORDERS given by him.

You don't despite your Senior, he's got powers to deal with you and knows how to go about it. And if he is humane enough to overlook your deliberate excesses, you ll surely reap what you sow in multiple folds when you climb that ladder too. I have seen it happen, it's no joke. The Job is a team work. No single officer can take the glory all alone. It is the joint efforts of both Officers and Men that will make the Service achieve its mandates. Wishing you all the very best as you join the noble Immigration Service...

You see this my own two shining stars ba, i go add to am very soon. did I hear you say and type amen to my prayers
You will get it by 2022 Promotion. Amen

During Shot Service Training for military they usually pay cadets N45,000 per month. After training their salary accumulated during training is paid in arrears.

Anyone who is familiar with NIS could clarify. The initial information I posted was a copy and paste from a Nairalander who had earlier posted. I remember I acknowledged the fact that I was only reposting what was earlier posted.
You are correct about the military.

I don't think so, even nysc would give corpers some sort of allowances talkless of paramilitary, they will for sure be a certain percentage of salary that will be paid for th duration of training.
I don't think this should be an argument. Corp members are only entitled to their allowance (No salary) and Bicycle /Kilometer allowance. Paying them allowance is like paying them their salary

No, they will only be entitled to their FULL salary from the date of First appointment and will be paid arrears

A candidate posted this info below almost 4 weeks ago. Perhaps by next week successful candidates will start receiving messages.

LET ME HELP DISPELL SOME RUMORS AND UNCERTAINTIES HERE.

For those that went for screening and asking what's next.

1. After a month or so successful one's will will receive either a text or email inviting them for documentation and final verification of documents (Your documents will be verified again during documentation).
It's usually in your zone like the verification exercise.
2. After successful documentation you will proceed to open a pension account (Usually agents of one or more Pension Administrators will be available there) and then you will enroll and capture for IPPIS.
3. When you're through with all that you will be given an introduction letter which you will take to your state of origin immigration service command.
4. After a week or so your state command will call you for a 4 - 6 Weeks induction exercise.
5. If you have no problem with your IPPIS enrollment you will receive your FULL SALARY after one month no allowances.
6. The service will start arrangement for training of the new intakes which is done based on cadres.
Note: It may take up to a year (in extreme circumstances) before you go for training.
7. When you're in training school the service will stop paying you salary. You will only be given an allowance of #15,000 monthly.
Note: Your salary will be accruing for the months you're undergoing training and will likely be paid after 2 or 3 month of commissioning.
Nothing like 15,000monthly allowance
