In dogs, miscarriage is referred to as abortion. Fetal loss can result from a number of issues, including infection, medication and the condition of the mother and the fetuses themselves. It can occur at any stage of the pregnancy. If your dog miscarries, take her to the vet for treatment. If possible, take any aborted fetuses to the veterinarian for necropsy to determine the cause... Canine Abortion Early in the pregnancy, before you're even aware your dog is expecting, the mother's body might resorb the fetuses. Such resorption usually occurs by the 12th day after conception. If your dog suffers an abortion later on, you might notice vaginal bleeding and expelled fetuses. Once a miscarriage begins, it can't be stopped. Your vet will perform an ultrasound on your dog after a miscarriage to make sure all of the placental tissue was expelled. Such tissue remaining inside the uterus can cause hemorrhaging or infection. Your vet can give your dog medication to help expel any remaining tissue. One of the most common causes of still-births in dogs is Brucellosis, which is an infection caused by the Brucella canis bacteria. Other infectious agents that can cause abortions in dogs include Listeria monocytogenesEscherichia coli, Campylobacter, Salmonella, Streptococcus, Staphylococcus, Chlamydia, canine herpesvirus, Neospora caninum, Mycoplasma, Pasteurella, Klebsiella, Pseudomonas, canine Distemper virus, Parvovirus and Toxoplasma gondii. Abortion can also be caused by immune-mediated hemolytic anemia and by a number of neoplastic (cancerous) conditions. Bitches who abort on successive pregnancies should be examined by a veterinarian for uterine infection or progesterone deficiency. A progesterone deficiency, called “hypoluteoidism,” happens when the ovaries don’t secrete enough progesterone to support attachment of the embryo to the uterine wall. If the bitch’s owner finds any fetal or placental tissue after an abortion, she should take it to her veterinarian, so that it can be evaluated by a pathology laboratory to help identify the cause of the aborted litter. |

ayooluwatoni, please help me criticize this statement of purpose for visa The desire to expedite my career development and to synchronize with the dynamics of the ever-changing world of engineering management spurred me to apply for a postgraduate diploma in Conestoga college. I am very sure that Conestoga college can afford me an in-depth knowledge in Construction Project Management which will provide me with an outstanding competitive advantage required to survive in a highly-competitive project management world. A Higher National Diploma combined with a Postgraduate Diploma (in civil engineering) which I obtained at Yaba college of Technology and Federal University of Technology respectively, has furnished me with the basic knowledge of civil engineering. In the last seven years, I have had professional experience in Civil/Structural Engineering practice where I have had to undertake exceptional duties. These duties include; design, analysis and preparation of general arrangement of structural elements, 3 dimensional modelling of structures (StaadPro, Revit, CSC Orion), project supervision in conformity with drawings and design specifications, value engineering, stability and suitability tests on materials, etc. Moving up the organisational ladder, I have recently been promoted to the office of a project director. A project director in IAA Associates Limited (place of work) is expected to embrace project management as a way to control project cost, time and improve project quality. Postgraduate studies in construction project management will be of great benefit to my country as monumental projects are being lined up for construction in some of the states. Despite Nigeria's involvement in some of Africa's tallest and most impressive structures, it still faces challenges such as increasing high construction cost, compromised quality and lack of adherence to scheduled time. The importance of a project manager can never be over-emphasised as he or she ensures that cutting cost, quick completion of projects does not compromise quality. I have been involved with project teams saddled with the responsibilities of producing general arrangement of structures, designing and drafting of structural elements. Undergoing a construction project management course in Conestoga college will help me direct and coordinate human and material resources using management techniques to analyse potential risks, ensure functional requirements are met, maintain budget control, provide effective project schedule, hire and manage personnel. I chose Canada as my preferred place of schooling because of its beautiful and safe environment, high standard of education and multicultural society. I want to pursue my postgraduate diploma at a reputable college with enhanced teaching methodology in Canada and Conestoga college simply fits that description. The courses, excellent research facilities, strong faculty played a major role in convincing me that Conestoga is the right place to further my studies. I am sure that it will go a long way in producing excellent results for my study interest. My present place of work, being one of the prominent firms that design and manage projects, mostly high rise buildings, have been selected as future firm to handle some of the coveted projects on Eko Atlantic. Eko Atlantic is a planned city of government and private funded buildings which will be situated on lands reclaimed from the Atlantic ocean and there is no bigger motivation to get prepared for the next step in engineering management. Going for a construction management project is of paramount importance to my career and so I have sort for my cousin to sponsor me through school. I have had a very close relationship with him and he has always helped me whenever the need arises. |

Day 1 • First day of mating. • Sperm travel searching for a mature ripened eggs. Week 1 • Fertilization occurs. • 2 cell embryos are in the oviduct. Week 2 • Embryo will be 4 cell at start of week and 64 cell by end of week. • Embryo enters the uterus. • Feeding small amounts of high protein supplements, such as eggs, lean muscle meats (not pork) or liver is a good practice.. Week 3 • Embryos implants along uterus wall. • During the next two weeks the important organs will develop. • Her nipples begin to turn pink and enlarge. • May loose appetite during this week. • Morning sickness may occur - Angel got this. She also stretched a lot due to her movement in her abdomen. Week 4 • Morning sickness should go away and appetite return. • One of the early signs of pregnancy is for the dam to 'adopt' a toy. • Development of eyes and spinal cord and faces take shape. • The fur on the belly and around the nipples thins. Week 5 • The doctor may be able to detect pregnancy (85% accuracy) by feeling the abdomen. Diagnosis by x-rays is usually possible after 45 days (95% accuracy for determining the number of puppies). • You may be able to feel the little puppies -they would be the small bumps in the abdomen. • Development of toes, whisker buds, and claws. • Eyes now close and gender can be determined. • The puppies are now considered fully developed miniature dogs. • She may be showing... She may also gain a little weight particularly if she is going to birth more than 1-2 puppies.. Week 6 • During the last several weeks, your dog’s nutritional needs nearly double. Feed small meals several times a day. • We recommend feeding puppy food through the end of lactation (nursing).. • Increase water. • Enlargement of mammary glands as nipples darken and enlarge. Week 7 • She may shred papers, blankets or bedding in an attempt at “nest building” in the last weeks. • During the last 2 weeks, your pet may become irritable and should avoid contact with small children. • Moderate exercise is the proper approach. Neither forced rest nor strenuous exercise is a good idea. Short periods of gentle play and short walks are good.. • You may feel the puppies now but counting them may be a bit more difficult. • Definite abdominal enlargement. • Abdomen hair will start shedding. Week 8 • Dam begins to spend a lot more time grooming herself. • Her breasts become swollen as her milk forms. • Nesting begins as she looks for a place to have her puppies... Make sure you have her box or spot ready.. • The dam may not have as big of an appetite during this period. Her abdomen can be crowded with puppies. • You can feel the puppies move now. • See if you can get her used to her whelping box Week 9 • Nipples and vulva should be gently cleaned with warm water, you might want to trim the hairs surrounding the nipples, to allow easier access for the puppies to suck. • She may express milk from her nipples. • Watch for her temperature to drop. You may take it rectally if you want but she's just plain old cool to the touch compared to what she has been the last 8 weeks. • She may also become restless, seek seclusion and in the last few days, soil the house. • She will be 'nesting' 12-24 hours before the birth EXPECTED DATE OF WHELP. • Expected date of whelp. Average is 62 days but may take place from the 58th to the 68th day. Angel laid on the couch on her back the entire day before giving birth. • Keep watching for that cool to the touch.. if you're actually taking the temp, it does drop from 101 to 98 degrees. • Appetite will disappear as whelping approaches. • May see a clear discharge from the vulva. • At onset of labor may pace, dig, shiver, pant and/or vomit. • First fetus will be delivered within 4 hours of the onset of labor. |
